I agree that is more difficult in version 7 than in the previous PC versions of QuickTime.
On the Windows OS QuickTime Pro (versions 3 through 6) had a dialog window that used check boxes for things like outlined text. Mac users had that same dialog window in versions 3 and 4 (if memory serves me) but went to modifying using text editors in later versions.
You can edit the text file to make changes in font, color, outline, font size and dozens of other options. Then just import the new text file.

  • How to outline multiple lines of text

    how to I outline multiple lines of text to create a filled outline around a group of text like this:

    Bdog,
    You may (you have done some of it already):
    1) Create the Type and Type>Create Outlines;
    2) With the Group selected in the Appearance palette, in the flyout Add New Stroke and set the Stroke Weight and colour as desired, then drag the Stroke below the Contents;
    3) Object>Expand Appearance;
    4) Lock the original group with the letter shapes and Expand;
    5) Pathfinder>Unite, then lock the bottommost path and delete the rest which formed the holes;
    6) Unlock the original group with the letter shapes.
    You may also wish to simplify the outline.
    And what Kurt said.

  • Outline a stroke......?

    hello, thanks for advise in advance, my problem today is i needed to stroke some text to thicken up for vinyl work. so then i select all,create outlines, then object-path-outline stroke........ but when i looked closer i got two outlines the one from original border and one from the stroke that i outlined. so then i tried to direct select paths i did not need seem to work but went i sent work to cutter still got both outlines. any advise would be great thanks again. -nick

    All you had to do is Create Outlines there was no need to also outline the stroke.
    So what you might have now is actually a compound path
    Something like this
    you would want to first determine if you want the outer or inner path to use for the cutline.
    And you can delete the say the interior path, the fill will become probably black which you can change as well
    What you probably had before was actually three paths the original path left because you had a fill as well as a stroke
    like this

  • How to add double stroke to text or an object?

    I have illustrator 10 (MAC). Wondering the easiest way to add a double stroke to text or an object? Also, how can I move the stroke so its not necessarily on the outside of text? Was thinking more of an outline with separation between the two colors on the double stroke. Thanks

    I'm not really an expert in user-land Illustrator so I'm not always up-to-speed on the terminology -- what do you mean by 'double stroke'?
    Assuming you're talking about doing this in code, I *might* be able to help you on this but it's been a couple of years since I used the pre-CS text engine. I'd be more likely to be able to help you if this was CS+, but I can try.
    If you're talking about doing it through the GUI as a user, I'm the last guy you want to ask :)

  • Easiest way to add a double stroke to text / or object in  Illustrator 10

    New to the forum and wondered if someone can help me find a solution in adding a double stroke to text or an object? I have illustrator 10 (Mac). Thanks Also, should I be in a different forum section or is this correct?

    Go to window/appearance and add as many strokes and fills you want, and reorder as you need
    here you can see a movie on how it works, no matter the video is in AiCS3, works the same in Ai10.

  • Adding stroke to text in Flash CS4?

    But I can't figure this out or find it anywhere.
    How do you add/edit stoke on text in Flash CS4??
    Thanks.

    G.Bob,

    The closest you can get to a stroke on text is either to a)
    break apart
    the text into a series of shapes and then use the Ink Bottle
    tool to add
    stokes to those shapes or b) use a very strong Glow filter.

  • How do you outline a stroke in Freehand?

    Is there a way, such as could be accomplished with
    'Streamline' in older versions of Illustrator, but now is a
    built-in capability in Illustrator CS2, to outline a stroke in
    Freehand so it will be turned into 'flat' artwork (a filled path)
    retaining the identical look of the original stroked path but now,
    it becomes no longer a stroke but a filled object.
    Hope I explained that correctly.
    TIA,
    Ken

    Select the stroke you want to outline, then choose "Expand
    Stroke" under the Xtras/Path Operationsmenu. Choose the same width
    as the stroke and that's it! Same concept as Illustrator but
    different name.
    Sorry...I didn't know that it already posted! ;)

  • Illustrator CS4 keeps 'quitting unexpectedly' whenever I outline a stroke

    Hello!
    As of yesterday my trusty Illustrator CS4 has started quitting on me every time I perform certain tasks, such as outlining a stroke.
    It does seem to coincide with an Adobe Flash update, but I can't be too sure it's definitely that what is causing it.
    I've searched high and low on the internet for a solution but haven't found anything similar, and I've called Adobe customer support but they unsurprisingly don't offer support for CS4 anymore.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm losing both work and time on my deadline.
    Thanks

    Pez,
    The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
    1) Close down Illy and open again;
    2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
    3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
    4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
    5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
    Even more seriously, you may:
    6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

  • How do i add a gradient as the stroke to text instead of a solid color for PSE10

    I have PSE10 and i got thsi urge to add a gradient as the stroke to a text, but don't know  how...
    help!!!!

    Something like this might work for you:
    1. Ctrl or Cmd click on layer thumbnail in the layers panel with the text.
       That makes a selection of the text
    2. Add a new blank layer below the text layer and go to Edit>Stroke (Outline) Selection and choose Center and the size.
    3. Select>Deselect
    4. Go to Layer>New Fill Layer>Gradient and check Use Previous Layer to Create Clipping Mask
    5. In the Gradient Fill dialog you can experiment with different gradients and settings.

  • Stroke behind text - Is it possible?

    I'm trying to create a template for someone and I have some text with a stroke on it. The problem is that I can't make the stroke go below the fill of the text without converting the text to outlines. I'd rather not make this a step for the user since they are not a graphics person. I'd also rather not have to have two layers of the same text, one above without the stroke and one below with the stroke.
    Is there any way to make the stroke go behind the fill on a 'live' text object? There's got to be, but I can't figure it out!
    Thanks

    I believe I did follow your directions carefully.
    I typed a line of text. Switched to the arrow tool. Clicked on the stroke flyout and set a width. The stroke is on top of the fill.
    I have over 25 years experience with graphics software. I've avoided Illustrator because in my opinion it's not as intuitive and easy to use as other vector drawing programs. I know a lot of people do a lot of great work with it, so I'm not saying it's not a capable program, but this is such a simple task I'm trying to perform that I feel it's either extremely unintuitive or it's just not working properly.
    What, if anything, did I miss in your last post?

  • Eyedropper tool only creates black stroke on text.

    Everytime I use the eyedropper tool on some text, instead of picking up the font, colour, and attributes of the text I dropper, it somehow just outlines my selection with a black stroke. This has been happening with any kind of text, in many different documents. I can't figure out why it suddenly started. Ideas?
    See attached image.
    Thanks.

  • Outline of image through text?

    Hello All
    I first created a layer of my background pattern. Then i created a second layer of text, put this second layer below the first one and then with Alt key pressed i clicked the line between the two layers, so that my new composition shows up through only my text.
    But i also want to add an outline to this text, which i am not able to do.
    Please Help me..!!!

    Make sure you have the text layer selected (highlighted) in the layers pallet.
    On the top menu click Layer à Layer Style à Style Settings
    Use stroke and set a color, then click OK.

  • Knockout stroke around text CS6

    I am working on a logo that will be printed on a canvas bag (hence the background color) and I would like the white stroke to simply subtract from the shapes behind it, almost like padding on a text box. I don't want to be able to simply see through it, I would like the white stroke basically to create a transparent stroke around the yellow text. Thanks in advance for your help!

    Katie,
    It may be better to try the following, then go through your present artwork to make sure that you have an equivalent structure.
    1) Create a grey rectangle (like the background);
    2) Create a smaller blue rectangle (like the underlying letters);
    3) Create some live Type (like the 2014) on top of the blue rectangle, you may keep it live or Type>Create Outlines;
    4) With 3) selected, in the Appearance palette flyout click Add New Stroke;
    5) With the Stroke selected (highlighted) in the Appearance palette, change its colour to white and drag it down beneath contents (adjust the Stroke weight if needed), then in the Transparency palette set the Opacity to 0, this will make it disappear;
    6) Select everything, then ShiftClick the grey rectangle to deselect it, and Ctrl/Cmd+G to group the rest, then in the Transparnecy palette tick Knockout Group.
    Not the stroke behind the text should knock out the blue rectangle so the grey one shows through.

  • Outline box when editing text in PDF using v8

    We are running, Windows XP, Acro8 with updates. Created PDF files from within INDCS3. Many of the frames are independent.
    When trying to edit the text using the touchup text tool in Acrobat v8, it outlines complete area on the form which are not the same as the frames in INDCS3.
    Was this something new in v8 and how could this be removed via preferences.

    This started happening back in AA6 I think. It is not new.
