Outline View In Isolation Mode + Scrollable font list on mac like its on PC

I would love to have outline view available when in isolation mode.. Not sure why its not available.. Also would like to have the scrollable font list on the mac version like how it is on PC..

Outline view is available in CS4. At least on a mac, OSX 4.11.

Current Problems/Inconsistencies in Font Lists + Suggested Solutions:
NUMBER OF FONTS SIMULTANEOUSLY DISPLAYED:
Premiere Pro (PP): 16 (too few!)
AE: 19 (too few!)
Photoshop: 40 (adequate)
Illustrator: auto-maximizing (displays as many fonts as screen supports, 50 on a 1920x1080 monitor)
*SOLUTION: Make all font lists auto-maximizing like Illustrator!
FONT PREVIEWS:
PP: Yes (6 user-defined characters previewed next to font names)
AE: No previews
Photoshop: Yes ('Sample' displayed in each font, but too small for comfortable viewing)
Illustrator: Yes (Each font name is displayed in actual font, but this makes it inconvenient to know the name of 'Dingbat' fonts.)
*SOLUTION: Make all font lists display font names in left column, with 'Sample' displayed in the actual fonts to the right. When users select any text, replace 'Sample' with the first 1-30 selected characters for instant previewing in all available fonts (e.g. selecting the '&' character would display '&' in all available fonts for instant comparison). Also make font lists resizable with a horizontal zoom bar at top of list to ensure comfortable viewing for everyone.
SCROLL BAR:
PP & AE: Yes
Photoshop: Yes (perfect size and color scheme for best visibility)
Illustrator: No (current scrolling method is frustratingly slow!)
*SOLUTION: Add a Photoshop style scroll bar to each font list for best visibility/usability.
FONT SELECTING WITH ARROW KEYS:
PP & AE: Yes, by arrow-keying up/down in both the font fields and font lists
Photoshop & Illustrator: Only from the font fields. Highlighting fonts with the arrow keys in the font lists doesn't result in font visualizing.
*SOLUTION: Allow PREVIEWING of fonts by arrow-keying up/down in font fields and font lists in all CS programs. I emphasize 'previewing' instead of 'selecting', since previewing fonts avoids the problem of unnecessary undos being created for each font visualized with the arrow keys. (Note: Arrow-scrolling through the font field in Photoshop's Options bar works as I suggest, by 'previewing' each font without creating unnecessary undos. Unfortunately, arrow-scrolling through the font field in Photoshop's Character panel does create useless "Set Character Style" History states for every visualized font. This kind of inconsistency even within a single program is crazy!)
CONCLUSION:
CS programs are all part of the same family, and should therefore behave as such with consistently intelligent tools. This includes font lists with a consistently intelligent design.
Please comment and share! Let's get these glaring font list inconsistencies finally fixed!

If you want to do this correctly you need to file a request for each feature.
Ripple Sequence and Chapter Markers is already implemented. Sequence markers are the same as chapter markers, yes? (Ripple Sequence Markers, select Marker > Ripple Sequence Markers.)
Ability to print the Keyboard Shortcuts, or save all of them as a text file. also available. (hold ctrl+shift while opening. A button with clipboard appears)
Keyboard shortcuts to scale image zoom in Source and Program tabs. available
Keyboard shortcuts to increase or decrease playback resolution. available
Make Export and Title windows return to the previously adjusted size and placement. They do.
Some feature you posted are great. How about a eyedropper tool for the Color Matte?
I find the Magnet for Snap quite visible. There is also this feature in the Pref to make the playhead snap.

Webfont not displaying properly in design mode or appearing in font list

Just updated Muse and now my heading webfont (Nunito) is not displaying properly in design mode or appearing in the font list. It is, however, displaying properly in preview mode. When I try and delete the font and then add it again I get an error message that says the font can't be added. Any idea what's going on?

Please try the steps below. Hopefully this will fix the problem.
1. Close Muse
2. Rename the folders named tk1 and tk2 in the following locations
On Windows: %appdata%\com.adobe.AdobeMuseCC.2014.2\Local Store. You can type this in the Path bar at the top of the Windows Explorer window
On Mac: ~/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.AdobeMuseCC.2014.2/Local Store. You can type this in the Go To Folder dialog (Shift+Command+G)
3. Launch Muse and add the font again

Missing Outline view

Problems with Pages 5 ... in just one area, Outline mode.
-Pages v5 has no Outline view. I use outlines most of the time. I’m not always in Outline view (in Pages 4.3) because my outline styles look the same in regular view, that's great! But I do go to Outline view to limit the levels that are visable. (I always wished I could print the limited view, like you can in MS Word.) But can’t even look at Outline view in P5 because it's not there! So I’m still working in v4.3.
-Pages v5 doesn’t keep the bullets that I have assigned to outline styles. And I don’t think I can attach them anymore. So I’m still working in v4.3.
-Pages v5 makes it much more difficult to assign styles to text. You have to click on a drop down menu every time to select each style. Extra step. In Pages 4.3 you only have to click on the style in the style drawer, which I keep open all the time. I was hoping that they would make it easier, like assign key commands to style assignment, but they made it harder instead!! So I’m still working in v4.3.
I’m using the new Pages in iOS7 because it did add the ability to assign styles (was living without this on the iPhone, but it's harder to go back to the old iOS Pages). So I now have to convert all my iOS Pages docs back into 4.3 for use on my Mac, which is not very convenient. And I try to avoid editing on my iPhone. Less functional.
So please give back Outline view, Style drawer (or make the style list stay on screen), and give me back my bullets!

This is not Apple.
Apple has issued a list of the features they will be adding in the next 6 months and none of those are on it.
Menu > Pages > Provide Pages Feedback
or better still go back to the App Store and rate/review Pages 5 there.
Meanwhile you can go back to Pages '09 inside your Applications/iWork folder.

Favorite Fonts List

How can I select my favorite fonts and separate them from the entire fonts list so I can access them for efficiently? Years ago Word would automatically put the fonts I used most above the first "a" font in the list, making it quite easy to find.

Make a favorites list in the Type Palette. Pages will list recently used fonts at the top of the menu.

You take a sample of the existing paragraph style, alter it, using the Inspector palette, then with the cursor in it update the style in the styles drawer (right click on the style name).

Yes, it is called Instant Alpha and is under the Format menu. You can also make considerable adjustments to the image itself with +Menu > View > Adjust Image.+
I suggest you download the Pages09_UserGuide.pdf from under the Help menu and also view the Video tutorials in the same location.

How do I number a Pages document in outline view

I have a very long document done in outline view and I want to print it with pages numbers. They do not show up in the outline view. I have them in the regular (non-outline view) but they disappear when I go to outline view. The file is 50 pages long. I really need the page numbers.
The header and footer items are checked in the Document inspector, but they do not appear in the outline view when I try to click on them.

The document wont print in an outline mode anyway. It will print in normal mode with page numbers even if you see it outlined on the screen.

Outline View missing in Pages 5.0

Pages looses half of its functionality if you cannot use outling when you write.
I see how to make headings and bulleted lists but no way to collapse and expand them.
Does anyone know if this is still possible? There used to be a menu item called Outline View. It's disappeared.

Hi Larry. I see. It is a file I have worked on previously, and the font is Myriad which I though came with the system. I just changed to Myriad Pro and the pink box disappeared. Thanks for the assistance, I know a new thing!

Helvetica Neue PostScript fonts not appearing in font list

Just curious if anyone else out there on a Mac (I'm on 10.5.8) is having trouble with Helvetica Neue (or any other System fonts) being accessable from the Fireworks CS5 font list?
I expect that I should see a whole slew of Helvetica Neue typefaces (PostScript) in my list (from 25 Ultra Light on up to 107 Extra Black Condensed Oblique) but instead all I get are the TrueType options that you see in the image below:
Also, Helvetica Neue appears in my font list twice... but both options give the identical TrueType font choices.
The crazy thing is that I can copy/paste a string of editable text from Photoshop and it will display the correct typeface AND maintain its editability within Fireworks CS5 but, the second drop-down menu appears blank. It's almost as if the system knows I have the PostScript font installed and available, but Fireworks doesn't know how to let me choose it.

I'm having this same issue. I can fix it by removing the system version (dfont) but then my browser won't show the font properly (outlines). I've got the whole creative suite and this is the only program that has this issue.
When I migrated from CS3 to CS5 this happened. Fireworks won't show the Post script version unless you remove the system font.
Adobe should use the same text/font handling throughout the suite.

You can double click on the selected object to get into the multilevel isolation mode.

Disable dim effect in Isolation Mode???

Groups are an excellent way to design encapsulated objects, but when editing color in Isolation Mode all other groups/layers are desaturated which makes it impossible to edit color in respect to the entire illustration.
I'd expect a way to disable the dimming effect somewhere in a menu option or preference setting. Anyone know?

There's a valid case for this I think. Having isolation mode without dimming would be useful for editing the colours of objects which are only partly obscured by foreground objects but which for various reasons may have their entire selectable region covered. For example you might have background stripes on a view and want to custom colour them with all of the foreground present (my current dilemma).
Of course you can use the layers panel but isolation would be more convenient. Locking is an option too of course but I have certain objects I lock all the time and manually locking everything would obscure my normal working state when I go to remove the temporary locks. Isolation mode solves this more elegantly.
I also find when editing shapes, I often wish to be able to see them in their proper colour context too.
Maybe what's needed is a addition to the layers panel: A "solo" mode.

Center Mark in Outline View

I am using Illustrator Cs6 on windows and when I used to switch to outline view there used to be a crosshair mark showing the center of shapes and the same mark for stray points, and about a week ago those marks have dissapeared. I checked the attributes window to make sure the center mark is on and its still not showing centers in outline mode. Is anyone else having this problem? did i accidentally change a setting i didnt know about? if so is there a fix? those center crosshairs sure were helpfull...

Yes. Stray points and path centres are no longer displayed. Why? For no good reason. Yet another traditional and useful function gone from Illustrator for good.
Reminds me of the piano-player-like gymnastics one has to perform with one's left hand to get the "Corner/Smooth" box displayed when using the "Join" command, which ever so conveniently popped up when overlapping anchors shared the same x/y coordinates in previous versions of Illustrator.
Next, we probably see a FB "Like" button next to each gradient or colour palette?

Outline view bug?

Maybe 8 times out of 10, when I click an entry in the Outline view, it jumps to some random thing near the top of the list. Does this happen for anyone else? It happens to me in every file, every project where the outline is long enough to need to scroll. Drives me crazy.

Changing the layer colour in Isolation Mode

How do I change the layer colour once I'm in Isolation Mode? I'm using CS4 and tring to edit a yellow object but Illustrator has made the layer/paths/edges yellow making it VERY difficult to see what I'm doing?
...actually, I just changed the objects layer to a differrent colour which seems to have made Illustator select the next colour down when in Isolation made.
Is this my only option?

I decided to test this more thoroughly.
Elements edited in Isolation Mode do actually inherit the color of the parent layer.
But there seems to be an exception: symbols. No matter what color the layer is, symbols edited in Isolation Mode get their own color. And that color is persistent across all symbols, regardless of the layer that they appear on.
However, that color is not consistent throughout the lifespan of the document. The color changes according to a pattern.
And the pattern is this: there is a sequential list of layer colors in AI, and a correlation between the number of layers in your document and the sequential number of the colors in the Layer Options color list. Symbols always use the color that is next in the list of layer colors, following the pre-assigned color of the most recently-created layer.
Test this out if you want:
Create a new document. Note that the default layer always uses the "light blue" layer color.
Now create a second layer in that document. It will be red.
The third layer will be green, and the fourth will be blue.
Now make a symbol and edit it in Isolation Mode. It's yellow.
Now look at the sequence of colors in the layer color dropdown menu: "yellow" is fifth in the list, after "blue," the fourth color in the list. It seems like AI is creating a new temporary layer for editing symbols, and like other layers, it is automatically assigned a color.
So basically, symbols edited in Isolation Mode will only be yellow if you have four layers. The way that AI assigns colors to symbols being edited in Isolation Mode seems to depend on the number of layers in the document.
If you followed the steps above, you can test this out by creating a fifth layer. Notice that it automatically gets assigned a layer color of yellow. Edited symbols will be magenta... the sixth color in the list.
It doesn't matter if you change the colors of each layer after creating them; as far as I can tell, if you have four layers, symbols edited in Isolation Mode will always be yellow.
The workaround would be to add a fifth layer to your document. Symbols in Isolation Mode will then show up in magenta, which is much easier to see on a white background.

Calibri disappeared from Fonts list

Calibri and the other MS fonts that came out at the same time (Cambria, Constantia, etc) have disappeared from the fonts list in my Formatting toolbar. Strangely, they still appear in the list in the Font dialog (Format > Font).
Anyone have any ideas on how to fix the Fonts list?
I'm running Robohelp 8 on Windows 7 Pro, 64 bit.

Formatting toolbar shows fonts sets present in the RoboHelp project. (Format->Font Sets)
"A font set is a collection of fonts to apply in style sheets or character and paragraph formatting. For example, you can create a font set with Verdana as the first font, and then (in order) Arial® and Sans Serif as substitute fonts. If users do not have Verdana installed, the viewer uses Arial and then Sans Serif."
Whereas the Font (Format->Font) dialog shows combined list of fonts on the system as well as font sets in the project.
Please verify if the font sets in your project has been modified/deleted. (You can do so by creating a new RoboHelp project and verifying if the required font appears in the formatting tool bar fonts dropdown for the new project). If it appears, then close RoboHelp project. Go to new project folder on the disk and copy rhfontset.apj file from new project to your current project. PLEAE NOTE that this will overwrite any existing modifications done in the font sets in your project.
I hope this resolves the issue.
