Outline(webi) & Group(excel)

Dear Gurus,
In WEBI, we can use "outline" to "group" the dimension in rows.
What I mean here, is, to be able to fold or unfold based on the hierarchy.
Not the function to group a few dimensions into a new variable.
my question is:
1. Is that possible to do it in columns?
2. Is that possible to save as a format in excel?
So it can be group-ed once open the file?
(just like report painter in FI module)

Hi Nicholas,
1.By using horizontal table that is possible to do it in columns.
2.In excel it is not possible to save file in group-ed.

Mustafa

  • Outline and Group columns like in Excel?

I am trying to do an outline and group of columns like in Excel. I basically, want to hide away (roll up) certain columns in a spreadsheet. I know I can hide them, but I would prefer to group/outline them like I can in Excel so anyone can ungroup them. If I just hide them, they look like they are gone. Can Numbers '09 do this for columns?
    Thanks,
    jeff

Numbers does not have that capability. It would be difficult to replicate it for columns because there are no filters for columns, just rows. It might be possible to do something for rows by using the filtering capabilities, an extra (hidden) column on which to filter, and checkboxes that you can check/uncheck to show/hide groups of rows.

  • Export webi to excel with the exact same format

    Hello expert,
I develped a webi report, but when I exported it into excel file, its format is defferent from WEBI report, such as text for legend with multple lines in webi presented in one line in excel,  there are a few descrepency.  please tell me how can I export webi to excel with the exact same format?
    Many Thanks,

    Hi,
There are options for the "save as excel" step .   either a) for formatting ,   or b) for data
    these should help.
The reason why there are 'undesirable'  rows (also, merged rows / columns) is because your report document has table outlines which have been positioned 'by eye'.
When the rendering algorythm outputs it content,  it's looking at pixel-level , so the relative position of borders can get messed-up. It's mainly due to slightly sloppy formatting.

  • Missing data when exporting webi to excel (not 65536 limit problem)

    Hi guys
I just meet a problem about webi that it will miss data when exporting webi to excel.
It's not about 65536 limitation, as my webi report do some aggregration and limitation and never beyond that limitation.
Also there are 2 tabs in my reports, if I split the 2 tabs into 2 separate reports and export them separately, then problem disappeared.
    Any ideas on this?

    Hello Claes
    according to:
    http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_05/helpdata/en/c1/eda0f591ec12408b25e7a1b369ca45/frameset.htm
Tools => Import and Export => Specifying the Sequence of the External Data Structure => External File Structure: Specification
Table EST07 should be part of export file. I am not sure if the packing requirement ist part of EST07.
Furthermore wirh ECC 6.0 EnhPAck3 some changes happend generally in the area of DG classification.
E.g. Dynamic dangerous goods classification. I am not sure if these changes are "included" in some sense in the EH&S data download.
    With best regards

    Symptom
Unable to Export images from a Web Intelligence report to Microsoft Excel.
A Web Intelligence report is created using images to denote alerts. The report works OK in Web Intelligence but when exported to Microsoft Excel, the images do not display.
      Environment
Business Objects Enterprise XI Release 2
    Business Objects Enterprise XI 3.1
      Reproducing the Issue
Create a simple Web Intelligence document.
Add a blank cell and within that cell link it to an image. (Either set as background for the cell or Image URL.)
Save and export to Excel. The image will not be displayed.
    Cause
Web Intelligence export engine does not support the export of images to excel.
    Resolution
In BI4.0, Web Intelligence export engine does support the export of images to excel.
    Workaround 1 :
Most image formats are supported in PDF export. Users may be able to use that as an alternative.
    Workaround 2 :
If images are required in the final Excel document, the user would need to recreate those image links manually in Excel.

  • Exports a hierarchy from the web to Excel

    Hi Experts
When the user exports a hierarchy from the web to Excel, it prompts the user for their password as the excel session opens. If they donu2019t enter it u2013 it constantly prompts for a password when the excel file is used.
Anyone got the same issue? or anyway I can get over this?
    thanks

Not possible - at the present time anyway.
If you want such a photo available for viewing on your iPhone, you need to download/save the photo on your computer - used for syncing/transferring data from your computer to the iPhone, and transfer this photo from your computer to your iPhone - the same for any photos transferred from your computer to your iPhone.

  • What planning layout to choose Web or Excel?

    Hello
Can you please recommend me what kind planning layout to choose Web or Excel?
What are the Procs & Cons?

In case of IP it's good to use Web layouts. As there you have wide range of commands and design items which you can use to design your interfaces.

  • Creating a web group through Web Services

User web services, we're able to create Presentation users merely by calling SAWSessionService's logon or logonex methods. But how can I create a web group?

Yes, I'm using 10.1.3.2. Let me give more detail.
Our RPD is setup to perform external database authentication. We use initialization blocks to perform this, and it works great. We can "login" by using NQUser in the URL or using the login or loginex methods. If the user doesn't exist in the presentation catalog, the user gets added if the authentication is successful.
We've been using web services to create catalog objects (dashboards, folders, etc.) and add ACL to them. But we've been doing this on a user-by-user basis. Now, we wish to add ACL for groups instead of users. But step one is to first create a presentation group. We can't find a programmatic way to do this. At first, I assumed we could create a catalog item via WebCatalogService's writeObject service. But when looking for the XML that defines a "group", we found out that a group is not defined by an XML. As someone wrote previously, I can't find any other service that creates a group.
Once again, can a group be created through OBI's web services? It feels like it does everything else.

  • Hide Blank Rows in a Pivot Table in Outline Form in Excel 2010

In Excel 2010 Pivot Tables, using the Outline Format and Repeat Item Labels, is it possible to hide the rows with no data?  Please see atch.
    Doug in York PA
    Douglas R. Eckert

    Hi,
If you want to hide these subtotal rows, you have to use the Tabular forum, the Tabular layout is very similar to Outline except that you will not
have subtotals at the top of every group.
1.Right-click an item in the pivot table field, and click Field Settings
2.In the Field Settings dialog box, click the Layout & Print tab.
3.Check the 'Show item labels form in tabular form’
    check box.
    4.Click OK
Then your pivot table layout should look like the image below:

  • Docs with prompts can schedule to WebI, not Excel, pdf or CSV

I have built Custom Access levels but am having problems with scheduling.
I believe I have given the correct rights in the CAL, but even the standard "Schedule" access level gives this error:
Sorry, you do not have the right to 'Add objects to the folder' (ID: 1) for 'reportname' (ID: 86429). Please contact your administrator if you require this right.
This happens for Excel, PDF and CSV formats. WebIntelligence is fine.
I have checked half a dozen reports in different folders a number of times and results are the same.
    - Users with Schedule rights can refresh reports to webi format
    - Users with Schedule rights can refresh reports WITHOUT prompts to excel / pdf /csv
    - Users with Schedule rights can NOT refresh reports WITH prompts to excel / pdf /csv
To get Excel, PDF and CSV files created, I have to give "Add objects to folder" access which allows users to save documents which is not wanted for this role.
It is also not a right granted in the standard "Schedule" role.
Have added user group with Full Control at root level over all applications and all other folder trees including Temporary Storage, no change.

  • Problme saving a WebI as Excel or CSV

    Hi,
I am trying to save a Web Intelligence report as Excel or CSV. After saving the report onto my local system or PC, when i try to open the excel, i get an error saying - Windows cannot locate this file, please make sure you have typed in the name correctly and try searching again.
I have saved the report on my desktop but while opening it, i get this error.
Another question was, while saving an WebI as CSV, the columns get re-arranged or re-structured automatically. Is there any remedy for this issue?
    Your inputs are valuable.
    Thank you.

    Vishal,
I don't want to beat a dead horse, but if you can stand one more observation and "how I would do it"...The order of objects in the Results Object panel of Edit Query mode dictates the order of the columns going to the spreadsheet when downloaded using CSV mode.  If you have any local variables doing manipulations, these will not be a part of the CSV download, which you most obviously have painfully experienced thus far.  So, the "solution" is to attack the matter from the universe perspective.  If the maniuplations via local variables in the report are beneficial to the whole project, then perhaps add these as columns of data (dimension objects) in the universe.  Though sometimes the dressing up we do on the database server side can bog things down, it becomes a judgment call on what to do about manipulating on the DB or on the report.  Another method would be to create a view on the database server and make that view available as objects in the universe (or a new univser entirely).  Then for this particular report /universe you can put those objects on the report in the Edit Query mode, save the report, and only give a certain group access to it for their purposes of CSV download.  Okay, I'm sure your ready to say "enough", so thanks for listening in for just a bit more.
    Thanks,
    John

  • WebI to Excel Format Issues

    Hi Guys,
I have a problem that when I export a BO report to Excel, the bar graph from BO gets very scrunched up and narrow, with the X-axis barely visible once it goes to Excel. But in BO, the report looks great. With all the cells aligned and matching. Is there a way to manipulate something in the BO report to make it Excel friendlier?
thanks in advance, will award points.

  • Report export webi to excel with zero values in tables

    All,
I export a report from Business Objects Infoview and it doesn’t allow for showing data elements of graphs or data tables that correspond to zero value data.
When I export my report the months with no data drop from the graphs and tables.  I would like the exported version of the report to show zero's in the table and no graph.  My report shows the previous 3 months so if there was no data for Feb and I ran the reprot today it would only show 2 graphs and not 3.
    Any assitance with this issue?
    Thanks,
