  • HP Deskjet 2540 scan does not work with windows 10

my HP Deskjet 2540 scan does not work with windows 10, however, it still does eprinting. i need the solution and i haven't got it.

OK, More information.   Installed Media Portal 1.  This works with the tuner card without additional modification, so this appears to be some kind of issue with the software.  Media Portal 1 does install a different version of Direct X, I don't know if that could have anything to do with it, but HP MediaSmart Live TV still comes up with the same error and will not run.

  • HP Scan doesn't work with HP LaserJet 2840 after upgrade to Leopard

    Small bug mucho irritating.
I can't scan documents anymore. The program starts but doesn't give med a scanning window so it's no use at all. The problem is the same on my Intel based MacBook.
Is there a work around? I've seen various solutions by starting the program with rossetta on intel machines but it's not the problem in my case.

Can you elaborate? I'm going through this right now with my HP printer.
It worked fine with Tiger. Worked fine with Leopard when I upgraded. However, when I had to do a complete erase and install of Leopard to try and fix a Mail issue, the scanning no longer worked.
I've escalated with HP and they tell me I am out of luck and can not do scanning (particularly multiple page) to a clean install of Leopard (only if upgraded from Tiger).

  • FRUSTRATED!!! HP 6700 Scanning feature not working with my MAC

I just bought the HP Officejet 6700 at COSTCO primarily for its claimed scanning capabilities.  The first frustrating warning was that the CD included with the device was not accepted by my IMac.  So, I after a half hour of downloading time, I finally was able to set up the printing and Fax capabilities, but NOT the Scanning.  The scanner software is evidently there, but it will not recognize the printer/"scanner" even when I click the browse button.
Before I send it back to COSTCO, I just want to make sure that I'm not missing something here.
And, is there anyway to call HP for live support?

    Hi realworld,
I have spend the afternoon trying to re-create the issue you are experiencing with no luck. I have downloaded and installed the HP Officejet 6700 e-All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Driver - OS X 10.9 Mavericks...dated 2013-11-15 and it works. I used both the Officejet driver and the Airprint driver, both worked, I am able to scan.
The issue you are experiencing is not the software it seems to be related to the computer or how it may have installed onto your computer. It could even be a firewall. Do you have a USB cable you can connect to see if you can scan with the cable to eliminate weather the issue is stemming from the network or not?
Here are some steps you can try, I have seen great success with these steps being completed in order.
    Scrub (Removes all HP software)
Open the Applications folder > HP or Hewlett Packard folder > HP Uninstaller
Click continue, click on one of the printers in the list.
Hold down Control, Option and Command
While holding the three buttons down, Click uninstall
    Reset Printing System
Click the Apple icon, and then click System Preferences    .
In the Hardware section, click Print & Fax/Scan. The  Print & Fax/Scan  dialog box opens.
Right-click (or Ctrl +click) in the left panel, and then click Reset printing system…
Click OK to confirm the reset.
Type the correct  Name and Password    .
Click  OK to reset the printing system. The Print & Fax dialog box shows no printer selected
Note: This will remove all printers in the print and Fax/Scan, any printer removed can be re-added later by clicking the plus (+) symbol.
Repair Disk Permissions (I know many of you have done this but because we have now done a scrub it is good measure to ensure non of your permissions differ)
On the Dock, click  Applications, and then click  Utilities.
    Double-click  Disk Utility.
Highlight your hard drive/partition on the left (by default this is "Macintosh HD").
Click the  Repair Disk Permissions button at the bottom of the window.
Once the repair is complete, restart the computer .
    Restart the computer
Click on HP Officejet 6700 e-All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Driver - OS X 10.9 Mavericks to download and then install the necessary software for mavericks.
Keep me posted with how this works out. I am certain this is not an issue with the software. This software was designed and released to work with Mavericks and as explained I downloaded it so I can see it with my own eyes. (I didn't want to insist it would work and find out that there is actually a problem with it )

  • Scanning software to work with CS6 and Mountain Lion

Since I upgrading my Mac to OS Mountain Lion 10.8 and downloaded Adobe CS 6 I have been unable to get my Epson Scanner to work properly. Since none of the drivers from the Epson and Adobe websites have worked so that I could scan from photoshop, I am looking into using third party software. Adobe mentioned VueScan in their instructions, but it is expensive and I don't like how it is laid out. It appears that SilverFast only works with 32 bit not the 64 required in CS6.
Has anyone else found scanning software that worked for them?
Or does anyone have an idea of getting the Epson software to work on my machine?
The scanner is an Epson Perfection v600 photo scanner, which is still being sold currently as something that works with new computers.

I have a scanner. I am trying to get a driver or new scanner software to work with it. Someone in a different discussion pointed out an article in MacWorld that goes into why this is not working.
    http://www.macworld.com/article/1168305/get_your_scanner_to_work_with_photoshop_cs6.html
I would still be interested to know if anyone has had a positive experience with third party scanning sofware. Vue scan? Silverfast?
Also to the Adobe staff :
This is quoted from the MacWorld article.
Right now, if users are running Mountain Lion (OS X 10.8), they will not be able to scan into Photoshop CS6 as described. According to Adobe, this is an across-the-board problem with the Cocoa classes comprising the scanning interface that it is using in Photoshop. It is neither a user nor a scanner manufacturer issue.
Adobe is aware of the problem, has identified it as an Apple OS issue that they are working with Apple to solve, and offer no time frame for when it will be fixed. "
Any idea on the timeframe or if there will be an anouncement when this is resolved?

  • Scanned Images not working with iphoto6

All my hundreds and hundreds of scanned photos will not work in iPhoto6. My digital photos taken with a digital camera work just fine.
I use an Epson 2480 Photo scanner. All the photos I have scanned over the years and even my recent scanned photos will not work in iPhoto6. Some are psd, some are tiff and some are jpg. When imported and the Ken Burns effect is applied, they immediately have a red/orange overcast. They seem to be Ok as long as the ken burns effect is not applied.
I have updated all the way on iMovie updates.
So, if I scan a photo and import it into iMovie6 and try to apply a ken burns effect, it immediately applies a red/orange overcast. sort of like an orange translucent covering.
anybody help me with this, please?

Yes, I use Photoshop CS. I normally scan my photos for printing. Save them in .psd. (which averages about 25 photos per customer) They are all saved in RGB mode. I copy them and convert those into CMYK mode for printing.
I then use the RGB photos to build an Imovie for my printing customers.
I take the same photos and use them to build a quick complementary family DVD.
BUT, now I have to re-open the files in photoshopCS and save them as a
jpg file, in order for them to work in iPhoto6. This procedure also works with preview.
However my digital camera photos work just fine. No need to resave them.
But...... I have hundreds of old photos I have scanned over the years that have to be reopened and RESAVED as a jpg in order for them to work in Iphoto6.
    I mean HUNDREDS OF PHOTOS.
I guess, resaving them somehow strips them of their old scanning info tags????? but my goodness, that will be very time consuming. I dont know if I can wait for a bug fix from apple. Who knows if they will ever fix it?
    Thanks again.

  • Scanning no longer works with Mavericks (Samsung CLX-6220FX)

With Mountain Lion I had no problem with the printer. In 10.8 I installed it by going to Printers & Scanners, clicking the plus sign and then clicking Samsung CLX-6220 Series. Then Apple software update would install the required driver automatically and printing and scanning would just work.
In Mavericks when I click on my printer under the popup that clicking the plus sign opens up, I get the following message:
Clicking "Use Generic" works, but only with printing. Clicking "Open Scanner..." gives me the following:
I've tried installing the drivers from Samsung's official web site (Samsung_CLX-6220_Series_PrinterDriver.zip and Samsung_CLX-6220_Series_MACScanner.zip). But then printing would not work, only scanning.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hey there Jacob,
It sounds like your printer is not functioning correctly after having updated to Mavericks. I was researching what is happening and found this article to help troubleshoot what is going on named:
Troubleshooting printer issues in OS X
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3147
Make sure that the printer is powered on, has ink / toner, and that there are no alerts on the printer’s control panel. Note: If you cannot clear an alert on the printer's control panel, stop here and check the printer's documentation or contact the manufacturer for support.
Ensure the printer is properly connected to a USB port on the Mac or AirPort base station / Time Capsule. If the printer is a network-capable printer, make sure that it is properly connected to your home network.
Use Software Update to find and install the latest available updates. If an update is installed, see if the issue persists.
Open the Print & Scan pane or Print & Fax (Snow Leopard) pane in System Preferences.
Delete the affected printer, then add the printer again.
If the issue persists, try these additional steps:
Reset the printing system, then add the printer again.
If the issue still persists, reset the printing system again.  Download and install your printer's drivers. Then, add the printer again.
Contact the printer vendor or visit their website for further assistance.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Wireless scanning does not work with Yosemite

When I uppgraded from Mavericks to Yosemite the wireless scanning doesn't work anymore.Tried to find some new driver at the support page, but there are only drivers for Maveriks and erlier versions of OS X.

Hi , Welcome to the HP Forums! I noticed that wireless scanning is not working after upgrading to Mac OS X 10.10, with your HP Deskjet 3520 printer. I am happy to help!  Some questions for you:  Is your HP Deskjet printer an all-in-one? Meaning, can it print, scan and copy? What is your printer's Product/Model Number? To find your printer's Product/Model Number follow instructions in this link. Finding Your HP Product Model Number. As their are multiple types HP Deskjet 3520 printers. Are you able to make a copy with the printer from the scanner glass?  In the meantime, please see this how to scan guide, Scanning in OS X v10.10 Yosemite without HP Software, for some alternative scanning methods, and let me know if any of these options work!  Thank you for posting, and hope to hear from you soon!  “Please click the Thumbs up icon below to thank me for responding.”

  • HP 3055 scanning function stopped working with OS 10.7.

I recently upgraded to OS 10.7 and my networked HP 3055 printer/scanner/fax ceased to be a scanner/fax.  Printing functions work fine.  I have full functionality with my old G4 PowerBook running on 10.5.8.  Is this another HP driver problem?  The HP web site suggests that the update is built into Lion.  For what it's worth, I've never been able to get the HP 3055 to scan on my wife's Dell running on Windows 7.  It was fine on XP.
Any workarounds or suggestions here?  I can scan with the old PowerBook but I'd really like the functionality back on my iMac.

this process, if performed exactly, solves the issue. i found it on another site and would like to acknowledge its creator but, at this point, don't know who it was.
I installed the HP LaserJet 3055 printer/scanner inLion 10.7.1 into two stages:
    - I first installed the printer/scanner connectedwith a USB cable
    - I then installed the printer/scanner so that itworks with the Ethernet network cable.
Note: BEFORE doing the steps below I did NOTinstall the Apple 2.7 driver for HP printers.
I installed this driver later, as explained below.
    A)  USB CONNECTION FIRST!
    1.  Eliminate all the currently installed HPsoftware by using the uninstaller located in Applications/HP LaserJetSoftware/HP Uninstaller
    2.  Unplug the USB cable and the Ethernetcable from the 3055
    3.  Open the Print and Fax System Preferenceand  <control> click or right click on the list of printers on theleft.  Select "Reset printing system...".
Then click OK on the warning.
    4.  Reboot the Mac OS
    5.  Run the HP All-in-One installer rom thefile LJMFP305x339xOSX10.5Update-v8.2.dmg provided in THIS directory:
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en &cc=us&prodTypeId=18...
    (a) Click through any warning messages thatappear.
    (b) It may say that some kext file was improperlyinstalled: ignore it
(c ) When the installer prompts for the USB cableto be connected do so!
    (d) Once this install is complete click restart onthe All-in-One installer window.  The Mac OS will restart.
    6. After the Mac has restarted, start the executionof the HP Setup Assistant in root mode.
To do so, I opened a terminal window and executedthe sudo command as follows:
    sudo /Applications/HP\ LaserJet\ Software/HP\Setup\ Assistant.app/Contents/MacOS/HP\ Setup\ Assistant
    (a) DO NOTgo past the very first promp of the HP Setup Assistant!
    (b) Now run the usual Apple Software Update Check:
it will find the missing HP printer driver andinstall it!
(if not, you can instal it directly from here: http://support.apple.com/kb/dl907 )
(c ) NOW continue with the HP Setup Assistant.
It will show the 3055 printer that it finds in the smallwindow.
Click on this printer and thenfollow the instructions to
complete the execution of the setup assistant.
I had several error messages in the terminal window where Iexecuted
the sudo instruction above. I ignored all of them, and waitedtill the
HP Setup Assistant declared itfinished the installation.
    7. Now the HP 3055 should be functional for Scanand Print.
Try scanning and printing (all this with the USBcable)
Note that as IronBadger wrote in his posts, the HPDirector may have to be restarted a couple of times
for the printer to show up for scanning.
To avoid this annoying "feature" I putthe "HP Scan" app directly on my dock:
when I want to scan I just click on that app: italways work for me.
By the way, the path of this app is :/Applications/HP\ LaserJet\ Software/Scan/HP\ Scan.app/
    =================
    B) NETWORK CONNECTION
    1. Disconnect the USB and put the Ethernet network cable, and restart the printer.
    2. Locate the printer's web page (I gave it astatic IP address in my Airport Express , namely 10.0.1.10)
and open this web page on yourbrowser just to make sure that the printer is indeed reachable
        on the network.
    3. Run the HP setup assistant again using the sudocommand above.
    (a) On the first prompt of the the HP setupassistant, click "network".
          - If it detects the printer inthe printer's box, continue the installation as above.
           - For me, it did NOTdetect the printer on the network, so I entered the printer's IP address
on my network, namely 10.0.1.10 . (Ithink you must click "create" to enter the printer's IP address).
After this, Ijust followed the HP assistant instructions, till it declared that theinstallation is over.
Important: Whenasked for a printer's name, give the printer
a name that isdifferent from the one you gave it in the "USB" installation (in part(A) above).
    4. The printer and scanner should work now.
(use the HP Scan app that you put inthe dock as explained in Part (A)).
    5. Optional: Remove the USB printer that waspreviously installed
by going to the Systems Preference, then Print andScan.

  • HP PSC 2355xi Scanning doesn't work with Leopard

Please help! I have an iMac that I've upgraded to Leopard and an HP PSC 2355xi printer. It will print fine but I cannot use the All in One software from Hp and therfore, I cannot scan documents or use it's scanning functionality. I've downloaded the latest All in One software and reloaded it, to no avail. Very Frustrating! Please help with ideas or thoughts.

I've had the same problem with an all-in-one I purchased in Dec. I can't figure it out either. The model I purchased is not listed on the HP web-site. Yes, the web-site is not exactly helpful. I tried the chat support and as soon as the person found out that I was a Mac user, that became the end of the help session. I spent the next hour on the phone with support. I finally hung up and went to other forums to figure it out.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled about 3 times. I even went back to OSX 10.5. I'm assuming HP Scan Pro is the software to use. I get no communication between the all-in-one and my laptop when it comes to scanning. I'm not finding HP to be Mac friendly.

  • Canon MX7600 scanning won't work with Lion

Canon tech support tried downloading and installing latest software, throwing out old stuff, etc.., but finally concluded the problem lay with the operating system. Any thoughts?

Thanks for your response, Pahu. The scanner drivers are both installed. Also, I just downloaded and installed Apple's latest Canon printer drivers, released today, and restarted. When I open Image Capture it says "No scanner or camera attached." The printer is connected via USB and will print. Also, attempting to scan from the Canon Solutions Menu produces an error message: "The scanner driver supported by this software is not installed. Install it and then retry."
If I connect a NeatReciepts scanner, it does show in Image Capture and does scan.
I've opened a trouble ticket with Apple.

  • Document scanning software that allows for custom search fields, attaching a thumbnail to the scanned document file, and works with any scanner?

I am a professional photographer, with years of paper model releases. I would like to find a document scanning software that works with my exisiting flatbed scanner (Canon MP250) that I can customize the seach fields for (ie. name, agency, job, etc.) and also attach a thumbnail image to as a job reference. I would like the document to be searchable as well. I've looked at a few different document scanning software companies, but I haven't found one that allows me to attach a jpeg file to a scanned PDF. Does anyone know if software like this exists?

You can't do better than to use VueScan:

  • Smart scan not working with Insert Select statements

We have observed that smart scan is not working with insert select statements but works when select statements are execute alone.
Can you please help us to explain this behavior?

There is a specific exadata forum - you would do better to post the question there: Exadata
I can't give you a definitive answer, but it's possible that this is simply a known limitation similar to the way that "Create table as select" won't run the select statement the same way as the basic select if it involves a distributed query.

  • HP Scan 3 software not working with MacOS 10.9 Mavericks

I just bought a new iMac to replace my old iMac and updated toe mew Mac to 10.9 Mavwericks.  Now my HP Scan 3 software does not work and there is no update for this software that I can find.  Can anyone help getting updated HP scanning software to use with Mavericks.  Thank you.

Thanks for your reply.  I tried what you suggestsed and it did not work.  My printer was listed.  The website says it is for MacOS 10.8 and Mavericks is 10.9.  My printer prints fine.  The problem is with the HP Scan 3 software.  When I try to use it I get a dialog box that says check withn the developer as it does not work with my OS.  Also, I went to the firm ware updater in my HP utilities folder and trie to run that.  I got a message saying that there is no update for my device.
It is hard to believe that HP has not updated the scan software to work with Mavericks.

  • Why won't my epson scanner work with Mountian Lion?

Since I loaded Mountain Lion, my Epson perfection 4490 Photo scanner won't load. It keeps saying "can't open application cuz PowerPC applications are no longer supported." I downloaded a new driver from Epson and did a software update and restarted my computer but it still won't connect to the scanner. What am I missing? Should I uninstall my epson scanner and then reinstall? Help!

Part 1 - the driver.  If you already had an Epson driver & software installed before you upgraded to Mt. Lion, then yes you should uninstall the Epson software. Epson provides a utility to do this on their support website. After uninstalling the old driver & software, follow the Epson instructions for installing their ICA Scanner Driver, which basically involves connecting your 4490 to your Mac and then running Software Update.  This driver needs to be installed for almost any scanning app to work with your 4490 on Mt. Lion, including Image Capture and Vuescan
Part 2 - the scanner software.  Epson discontinued the Epson Scan Utility when Lion was introduced.  It is only supported on versions of OS X up to Snow Leopard.  If you want the functionality of Epson Scan on Lion or Mt. Lion then you need to get Vuescan, SilverFast or similar scanner software.  I highly recommend Vuescan ... have used it for many years on almost every version of OS X and a bunch of different scanners including my own Epson Perfection 4490.
