Outlook 07, Non Mac / own domain emails and the iPhone

I am thinking about whether to buy an iPhone 3G or the Blackberry Bold. I am confident that I will be able to get my email to work with the Blackberry. Since finding mobileme will not sync no me.com email folders from outlook I am now worried that I am worried that it may not be possible on the iPhone.
Can you tell me whether I can send, receive and sync my existing email account on the iPhone?

Who is the email account provider for your email account, and is the email account an IMAP or POP account?
If your email account is an IMAP account, you can keep the server stored mailboxes for the account synchronized with the server with the iPhone's Mail client, and with the email client used on your computer for accessing the account.
If the account is a POP account, you can access it as with any other POP account. Mailboxes with a POP account are not kept synchronized with the server.

  • Can I set up my own domain email and FTP with iCloud?

    Hi,
I have my own domain name and I would like to have my own domain email using iCloud. Is that possible?
Also, if I buy storage, can I set up a FTP so I can share files with working clients?
I noticed Google Apps let you do these things but since I am a Mac guy I am wondering if iCloud would be easier to set up and manage it.
    Thanks for any feedback.

You cannot use your own domain name with iCloud email - it handles only its own email. The only thing you can do is forward email from your domain's email account to iCloud, but then you can't answer using it as you can only send using iCloud's outgoing server with the iCloud address as the 'From' address.

  • AppleMail, my own domain email and Gmail

I have my own domain name email which has started to get too many spam emails.
I'm aware that running the email through the gmail servers will help get rid of most of it.
So...i need help setting it up and using Mac Mail to manage all my emails still.
I think i am almost there - but a few things are going wrong.
firstly i have managed to configure things in Gmail, by setting up "retrieve other account". All that seems easy enough.
The problem occurs on Apple Mail.
Basically i want to be able to get all my emails coming through Apple Mail, so filtered through Gmail first. And then i want to be able to send email from my normal domain name, rather than Gmail.
So far, i have the incoming STMP to gmail, and the outgoing using my normal server, but this doesn't seem to work.
Any help in doing this is much appreciated.
    Adrian,.

OK I just transitioned to MacMail, iCal, and Mac address book.  Goodbye Outlook, It was great for 18 years and painful for the last year.  Microsoft is losing share with subpar software development.

If you use the same Apple ID for iCloud on each device, yes. However, you can use the same Apple ID for iTunes content on each device, but different Apple ID's for iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, etc., on each device. That way, you can have whatever iTunes content you want on each phone, but keep all of the other data separate. You can create another Apple ID here:

Must be a verified email address.

  • PLEASE help!! I use Outlook for my email and the Mail App Icon in my dock was also storing all my emails. So, I tried to delete ONLY the emails in the Mail App but somehow (under Preferences maybe?) I also deleted all my emails in my Outlook inbox.

PLEASE help!! I use Outlook for my email and the Mail App Icon that is in my dock, that I know nothing about, was also storing all my emails. So, I tried to delete ONLY the emails in the Mail App but somehow (under Preferences maybe?) I also deleted ALL my OUTLOOK emails in my inbox.  Can someone please please tell me if there is a way to get my Outlook inbox emails back OR EVEN the emails that were in my Mail app - because even tho I never use the Mail app, at least the emails would be there.
When I was trying to delete the emails in my inbox for the Mail app - I followed THESE directions.  It did in fact clear my inbox for the Mail app.  But then I went to log on to my Outlook account and EVERY SINGLE EMAIL was gone.  And not in the Deleted box.  Just gone.  Here are the directions I followed that screwed everything up.  Please help.
Top menu bar, Mail > Preferences > Accounts > Mailbox Behaviors.
Uncheck "Store deleted messages on the server".
At the drop list for "Permanently erase deleted messages when", choose "Quitting Mail".
    Next...
Top menu bar, Mail > Preferences > General.
At "When searching all mailboxes, include results from", uncheck "Trash".
    Select All = command A

    i found out my prob!
    here is what you do.
go to the "system preferences" on your dock.
    click "software updates".
    click "installed software"
if it shows something about a recent update about "EFI UPDATE, FIRMWARE, THUNDERBOLT" or anything like that, exit out of it.
    go to mail.
    click "mail" at the top.
    click "preferences...".
find the account you are having trouble with, once you do, make sure its highlighted, then click the "-" at the bottom of the window (this will only effect that mail account, it will not effect your ical weather or not its synced thought that email account)
hit the "+" (right next to the "-") and add your accout back!
its something with that update that effected mail, i hope this works out for you, if not reply back

  • Using Outlook 2007 I want to receive emails on my iPhone 4 only when Outlook is NOT open on my computer, as when away from home or want to quickly check email when computer is not turned on. Either ALL emails come to my iPhone or none at all.

Using Outlook 2007 I want to receive emails on my iPhone 4 only when Outlook is NOT open on my computer, as when away from home or want to quickly check email when computer is not turned on. Either ALL emails come to my iPhone or none at all. Is the setting I need to change in Outlook or on the iPhone or is it somewhere else?  I used to have this setting but transferring Outlook to a new laptop somehow turned it off.

No. You really can't do that. Not easily at any rate. You would have to set them both up to use POP3, but even then there is no way to guarantee that the phone won't poll the server prior to your computer doing so, pulling down the message from the server.

You can't get iphone to sync pics to a mac?  What have you tried?  What didn't work?
In itunes, did you go to the photo tab for your device and turned on iphoto to perform a sync.

  • I have an iMac with 10.9.1 and an iPhone 5 also updated to the newest system and I cannot get a sync set up between Ical and the iPhone or Outlook 2011 mac calendar with the iphone

I have an iMac with 10.9.1 and an iPhone 5 also updated to the newest system and I cannot get a sync set up between Ical and the iPhone or Outlook 2011 mac calendar with the iphone. I would perfer using outlook but will settle for the Imac calendar

It depends on what iMac you have. If it is an old PPC (G4 orG5) iMac then no further upgrades are possible. If it an Intel iMac:
Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:
Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
(NB: PowerPC applications can still be run in Snow Leopard using Rosetta, but they will not work in later versions of OS X.)
The OS 10.6 Snow Leopard install DVD is available for $19.99 from the Apple Store:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
    and in the UK:
    http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard to bring it up to 10.6.8, or download the combo update from here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
Check via Software Update whether any further updates are required, particularly to iTunes.
You should now see the App Store icon in iTunes, and you now need to set up your account:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4479
You can now upgrade to Mavericks OS 10.9 for free IF you have one of the following Macs, with not less than 2GB of RAM, and at least 8GB of available space on your hard drive:
    iMac (Mid-2007 or later)
MacBook (13-inch Aluminum, Late 2008), (13-inch, Early 2009 or later)
    MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid-2009 or later), (15-inch, Mid/Late 2007 or later), (17-inch, Late 2007 or later)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or later)
Mac Mini (Early 2009 or later)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or later)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
    iCloud system requirements:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4759
If you cannot run Mavericks you can purchase the code to use to download Lion from the App Store (Lion requires an Intel-based Mac with a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor and 2GB of RAM, running the latest version of Snow Leopard):
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/D6106Z/A/os-x-lion
    or Mountain Lion:

  • Is remedial action needed if you click a link in an unsolicited 'scam-looking' email and the link went 404?

Mac Mini 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo; 2GB memory; OS X 10.6.8. Incident occurred while using Firefox 35.0.
The latest/most current discussions I can find are from 2013 or older. Assuming more than a year is plenty of time for "new" malware or even "virus" that can affect Macs to be developed and distributed, I can either assume that "no news is good news"-- 'no new malware/virus possibilities' for Mac, or swallow my pride and ask the question: Is there any malware or other harmful/malicious computer code--read, something that could steal my identity if/when I do my taxes online this year--currently known to be a threat to home non-business Mac computers?
I ask because I committed the sin of all sins.....I got an unusual email from a vendor from whom I made one purchase (on ebay, a few months ago), asking me to loan "him" a sizable amount of money so he could "pay his hotel and retrieve his passport" while stranded in a foreign country. A very clear and not particularly uncommon scam method.....another flavor of the "grandma I'm in jail in Mexico" scam......and I'm one who constantly wonders how in the world people continue to allow themselves to get scammed (in my head when reading of other people doing it) by clicking on a link OR opening an 'attachment' in an unsolicited email. It wasn't tagged as "spam" by my ISP's very-good spam filters.....it was in my normal inbox; and, it was from a vendor I've done business with.
There was no attachment, but there was a link; I hovered the cursor over it; the lower left of my monitor showed the link exactly the same as it appeared on the page. I figured, well, it seems to be to the correct URL (knowing the seller's web address outside of ebay because I had visited it before finding he sold the same items on ebay). So, I clicked the link. Without a second thought. There was no other 'contact info' in the body of the email, so I thought the link looks authentic so I'll just go see if there's any information there about the owner being out of the country or ????.
The link took me to a Google "404" not found page. It was only there that I noticed the URL/link had an added letter; a stupid lack of attention on my part. The site could not be found because the URL was misspelled. I still was blissfully unaware that I violated my own rule (not to click links or attachments in unexpected email from entities I don't know or aren't currently transacting with). So I just closed the window and forgot about it.
It was only on waking this morning that I realized what I did.....and started worrying that I may have been directed to a phony "404" page that, without any further action on my part needed, might have contained something malicious that could be passed to anyone who connected to the page. I don't even know if that's possible, and I have so far not seen any unusual activity on the computer. But soon I will want to file my tax return....and I worry about the timing of this unusual-possible-scam email and the beginning of "tax time" here in the states?
So, in summary: Should I be worried that I fell for some new (since 2013) method of unknowingly downloading malicious software to my Mac? If so, what should I do now?

I don't even know if that's possible, and I have so far not seen any unusual activity on the computer.
No, it's not even remotely possible. What you encountered was an attempt to scam you, and a pathetic one at that.
Identity theft in general is a significant threat to any computer (a term encompassing Macs, PCs, iPads, iPhones...) user. However, that threat most commonly arises in the form of "phishing" and you didn't play along with it. The likely reason the email appeared to have come from one of your previous eBay vendors is that his email address was harvested using any number of methods. The email probably didn't even originate with him. eBay is a rich source for obtaining such information.
eBay has a fairly helpful guide on the subject: http://pages.ebay.com/help/account/recognizing-spoof.html
    To answer your specific questions:
Is there any malware or other harmful/malicious computer code--read, something that could steal my identity if/when I do my taxes online this year--currently known to be a threat to home non-business Mac computers?
    No.
So, in summary: Should I be worried that I fell for some new (since 2013) method of unknowingly downloading malicious software to my Mac?
No — although Mac-targeted adware has arisen since that time and is a rapidly growing annoyance that can make using your Mac practically impossible, it will not directly cause information theft as you have described it concerns you. Furthermore, it requires your participation to install it in the form of an Admin name and password — and it requires deception to convince you to supply those credentials. Learn more about how that happens here: How to install adware.

I have a iPhone and iPad on one iTunes account, I have recently bought two further I touches fir the kids , should I set them up with their own apple ids and the can I transfer purchases through all devices,

    Hi jhyiesla,
Im not sure wether I got you right or not. But my advice/s would be as follows:
These steps help you get rid of old apps you downloaded years ago and you do not use anymore.(Also frees space on your mac after emptying the trash)
    1) go to iTunes and delete all applications in it. Make sure to move them to trash! Do not empty your trash yet. Its your backup if step 3 doesnt appear.
    2) connect both your devices(one after each other) and make a backup. !!!Dont press the Sync button, press the Back Up Now Button
    3) Then it asks you if you want to backup applications as well. Confirm. (This is how apps get transferred manually)
    4) Then Sync your devices... The first time it might be, that there are some additional apps loaded to your devices you dont want to.. delete them on your Device (not iTunes) and after that you should be good every time you sync again.
    5) now you can empty your trash on your mac.
    Further,
    - You should regularly connect your devices with iTunes to make sure they are backed up. (Even if you have activated iCloud backup, the iTunes backup is more proper i.e.. Apps)
    - If you hate scrolling through a list of apps in iTunes, you can re/install apps directly on iOS not via iTunes. I absolutely never go to the "Applications" section in iTunes. I install and delete apps directly on iOS.

  • I assume that when I uninstall Thunderbird and later re-install it all my old emails and the account structure will be kept untouched and I will not lose it.

I assume that when I uninstall Thunderbird and later re-install it all my old emails and the account structure (including tags etc.) will stay untouched. Is that right?

And there is nothing you can do about that except SAVE all of them and when you change the connection Protocol to IMAP or Exchange Active Sync you might be able to copy those emails back into the folders for the new connection protocol and have them all show up on the Outlook.com server.
The company I work for change their email hosting service to Office 365, basically Outlook.com, and I need to move all my current emails from the old hosting service to the Office 365 email system. I did that by saving all of them to Local folders on my computer then Copying them into folder I created for the Office 365 email system. They all appeared in the Office 365 Outlook webmail system and then they were available to multiple devices.
It was a Long Drawn out process and had some hickups but in the end I didn't lose any emails.

You seem to stop the while loop to run the following code, then the program ends. Are you running this using the "continuous run" button????
You need one big while loop containing the acquisition, then you build up the history data in a shift register. Clicking "save" will save the data, but not stop the loop.
Why did you place a time-control in the FOR loop??? This is just post-processing so it should just do it without any delays. I don't understand the logic in the FOR loop. You are appending arrays, but then you delete the first element at each iteraction constantly trimming data from the beginning of the appended array. Then you autoindex at the output tunnel heavily duplicating all data. Ths make s no sense!
Can you explain how you want you data saved?
