[Outlook 2003] Concept message sent instead of finished mail

Outlook 2003, SBS 2011 environment (Exchange 2010).
Some of my colleagues experience a weird problem. They create or answer a message and type some text. They don't send it right away, but leave it open for a while. Such messages are save automatically every 3 minutes, stored in the Concepts folder. When
they finish and send the mail at a later time, the earlier stored concept is sent instead of the finished message.
Anybody got a clue what's causing this and how to prevent it?
Simon

Hi,
Are you using Internet Explorer 11? There is a know issue when using Outlook 2003 and Internet Explorer 11.
We can change the Outlook editor to Word to work around this issue.

  • Sync contacts w/ outlook 2003 - pulls Exchange address instead of e-mail address

I have a new blackberry curve, and am having a frustrating problem when trying to sync my personal contacts in outlook with my Blackberry.  Problem is that for any contact that I have that is also on our MS Exchange server when I sync, the address that ends up on the blackberry looks like this:
    /o=Arvin/ou=ArvinMeritorWHQ/cn=Recipients/cn=smithec
    instead of
    [email protected]
I have my e-mail service through our owa client, so when I try to send an e-mail to one of my contacts, it fails unless I manually type in their e-mail address.
When I look at the contact details in outlook, it shows the e-mail address in the proper format, [email protected] but when I sync what ends up in the e-mail field in the contact list on my blackberry is the longer format that does not work.
Does anyone know how to get the correct e-mail address to sync onto my blackberry?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ernie

Anone with any insight on this?  Please help!!

  • Upon opening Outlook 2003 get message "Not closed properly. File is being checked for erros."

When opening Outlook 2003 get an error message stating that is was not closed propertly and that the file is being checked. It can sometimes take up to 5-10
minutes for outlook to open. How can I stop this?

You need to figure out why Outlook is not closing property. The usual culprits are addins that access Outlook data.
Are you closing outlook before shutting down windows? If you let windows shut it down, you can corrupt the pst.
Does it work better in Safe mode? To open Outlook in Safe mode: Close Outlook then hold Ctrl as you click on the Outlook icon. You'll get a message asking if you want to start in Safe mode. Click Ok.

    Thank you.

    Hi,
Today, one of my users have the issue again, she is using Outlook 2003 on Windows 7 OS. Her fully
composed emails that were sent to recipients appears half of its content gone. She didn't realize it until her receipient informed them that the emails were either incompleted.
The frustrating part is that it happens randomly, hence, difficult to track.
Please advise what is the issue.

    Thank you.

  • Weird message sent instead of "sent from my iphone"

I sent an email to myself (from my gmail account on my iphone 6,
to my [same] gmail account on my PC) so that I could have a copy of a photo on my PC.
It was one .PNG screenshot of a setup screen info for an app that I wanted to retain in both places.
It didn't have a subject and I didn't add one, and there was NO body to the message, only the attached photo.
It was the first time I did this type of thing.
When I received the email at my PC it went to the suspected spam file.
In the place of the usual "sent from my iphone" message it said,
"This body part will be downloaded on demand."
I thought this strange, possibly threatening and printed the email out.
When I clicked the "this is not junk" button the message magically transformed to the "sent from my iphone".
I have subsequently tried sending the same photo the same way and it comes through with the normal message.
If this hadn't happened to me I wouldn't have believed it.
Luckily, I showed it to my wife and printed a copy before it disappeared.
Has this happened to anyone else or have I had some sort of miraculous apparition?

I realize that that is why I got the spam message from Norton.
I only included that to show the complete chain of events leading up to receiving the strange email.
My real question was about the "This body part will be downloaded on demand." message that was actually in the email, and later magically changed to the standard "sent from my iphone". message.
Here's a scan of the printed email:

  • Sync gmail messages between outlook 2003 on my hom...

    Hi everyone,
I've been reading a lot of posts on this forum and other pages on the net, but I couldn't find anything similar to my problem.
I have a E51 with the latest version of PC suite; and I am using Outlook 2003 on a WinXP SP2 machine.
PC suite does not give me the possibility to sync messages with Outlook (if it does, then it doesn't work for me). It only syncs calendar items, notes and contacts, which are all of secondary importance for me.
Of course, this is an enterprise phone, but I am not using it with my work computer. I use it with my gmail personal address. I got the phone set up to get my emails through IMAP and my computer through POP3.
What I would like is to be able to receive and send messages from my phone while on the go and still have the possibility to retrieve all email conversations when I download my messages with Outlook.
Unfortunately, although this works fine for received emails (downloading them with my phone will not erase them from my inbox and I will still be able to download them onto my computer), it is not the case with sent emails. These are stored in my phone memory as well as on gmail webmail under sent items, but they won't be set as part of the conversation in the inbox and will therefore not download onto my PC. And even if I move them manually to the inbox, they will be moved there in the webmail interface but Outlook will still not download them.
I would like to be able to save the history of some email exchanges from that particular gmail mailbox onto the computer (of course I don't need the whole history on my phone), and I find it a pain to have to go through the phone web browser to read and write my mail, so I would be really greatful if someone could tell me how to do it.
I could also change my email client to be something else than outlook if it makes it possible, but I don't think this issue is down to Outlook.
Thanks in advance for your help, I'll take any lead on how to do it or what to install...
    Cheers

    Hi e61drc,
Thank you for your answer! I'll try that as soon as I get home and post to let you know how happy I am!

  • MS-Outlook 2003 can't see messages in folder restored with imsrestore

Hello. We're using IMS 5.2 under HP/UX. When I restore messages into a new folder with the imsrestore -n command, MS-Outlook sees the folder but it appears empty. It also cannot rename or delete the folder. Outlook says to check the folder permissions. Eudora 5.1 can see the messages, and delete the folder.
I'm using this command because I want to restore message into a new folder so users will be able to easily see what's been restored. I haven't found any reference to this problem from Microsoft or other IMS users. Any ideas?
Here is the imsrestore command that I used:
    imsrestore -f {backup file for single user} -n
    Tape Version : 2
    Backup Date : Thu, 13 Apr 2006 11:28:29
    Incremental : Wed, 12 Apr 2006 01:00:00
    Message Store : mymail
    Block factor : 20
    /mymail/ALL/dpelinka restoring...
    /mymail/ALL/dpelinka/INBOX-> /mymail/ALL/dpelinka/INBOX.041306.152824 restoring...
    /mymail/ALL/dpelinka/INBOX/22455 restoring...
    /

I looked at this problem again today. The command imsrestore -f ${RSTDIR}/${file} -n is successful and creates a new mailbox with a name like: Inbox.042706.162202. The folder and restored messages are visible with our Luminis portal web client, and with Eudora. Outlook 2003 can see the folder but not the messages. If I try to delete the folder with Outlook, it says "unable to delete folder...the server responded 'mailbox does not exist'". This leads me to think there could be some kind of permission problem.
Looking at the mailbox on the server I see this:
    drwx------ 2 lumadmin staff 1024 Apr 14 21:43 =+Archive
    drwx------ 2 lumadmin staff 1024 Apr 14 23:10 =+Deleted
    drwx------ 2 lumadmin staff 96 Feb 17 19:58 =+Drafts
    drwx------ 3 lumadmin staff 96 Apr 27 16:38 =+I+N+B+O+X%d042706%d162202
    drwx------ 2 lumadmin staff 96 Apr 14 21:43 =+Junk +E-mail
    drwx------ 2 lumadmin staff 1024 Apr 14 21:43 =+Personal
    drwx------ 3 lumadmin staff 1024 Apr 17 07:29 =+Sent
    drwx------ 2 lumadmin staff 96 Dec 9 2004 =+Trash
    -rw------- 1 lumadmin staff 7080008 Apr 27 16:31 store.idx
    -rw------- 1 lumadmin staff 201 Apr 27 16:38 store.sub
    -rw------- 1 lumadmin staff 59 Apr 27 16:38 store.usr
Inside the restored folder I see this:
    drwx------ 2 lumadmin staff 1024 Apr 27 16:22 00
    -rw------- 1 lumadmin staff 24116 Apr 27 16:25 store.idx
    -rw------- 1 lumadmin staff 36 Apr 27 16:38 store.usr
The permssions on the files in the restored folder look the same as the other folders. I tried reconstruct -f user/dpelinka/INBOX, but it made no difference. This could be a problem with the IMAP implementation in Outlook. Can you think of any other things I should check? Thanks.

  • Can not sent email through Outlook 2003

Over the last few weeks I have been traveling in Canada and logging on through other peoples routers with no problemsI. Today I can access the web through a relations Bell wirless router and can access my mail at BT Yahoo. However when I try to use Outlook 2003 in the usual way I am reciving emails but all my sent emails are hanging in my Outbox. My wife is on a sub account of mine and she is having the same problems.

Outlook has worked fine in USA & Canada on previous trips and this one until lately. I have tried BT Broadband Help Desk to receive error message 0x800ccc18. When I go to BT Yahoo direct to find the meaning of the message I am told I may not be registered on Yahoo. I try the diagnostic link to the message and it fails. I have tried Live Chat with a waiting time of 25mins at the end of which I am told "No agent available"
I am not compuer literate, I just want to use my email in the manner I have done on countless trips abroad.
    Hi again.
Can you confirm your smtp settings (mail server) and whether you have set smtp authentication, and make sure that SPA (secure password authentication) is unticked.
Like I said, to use the BTinternet mail servers you typically need to be connected to a BT connection. It does seem strange that you were able to use it before in my view, as it will usually fail.
I've read a few of your previous posts - the desktop help is in my view of very little value and can be uninstalled.
It could be a security package interferring with the process - what package do you have ? (e.g. anti-virus etc).

  • Error message when opening pdf attachment in Outlook 2003

I have several computers in my network running different version of Adobe Acrobat...Adobe 6.0 standard, Adobe 7.0 standard, Adobe 8.0 standard and pro, and Adobe 9.0 standard and pro. The problem I am having with a few of my end users is that when they receive an e-mail in Outlook 2003 with a pdf attachment from certain companies that we deal with in the insurance industry, they receive an error message saying they can not open the file...
"Can't create file:XXXXXXXX.pdf. Right click on the folder you want to create the file in, and then click Properties on the shortcut menu to check permission for the folder."
The strange part about this is they can forward the e-mail to another end user that may or may not be using the same version of Adobe as them, but the other end user has no problem opening and viewing the pdf attachment (also, if the company sending the e-mail sends the same e-mail to another end user who has no issues, they can open it with just fine) Now here is where it gets really strange... if the end user that can view the file saves the file to their hard drive, then sends it back as the same attachment in an e-mail back to the end user that could not open the file originally, now that end user can open and view the pdf attachment. I have three end users that this affecting and they each have a different version of Adobe Acrobat with all of the latest updates. I am stumped and searches so far have revealed no solutions...
    Any ideas?

The can only open it on their machine if they save the pdf attachment after renaming it. All computers on the network have the latest Outlook 2003 updates, so it puzzles me that only three end users with the same version of Outlook 2003, with the same updates, are not able to view the attachment from Outlook, but the other users can. Also, why do those three end users have to rename the file if the save it to the their computer to be able to view it, but no one else has to. And, it is not every pdf attachment either, just some from certain people that send them an e-mail. Really puzzling issue that I need to get resolved...

  • Email messages appear on BlackBerry via Redirector but disappear from Outlook 2003

Email messages appear on BlackBerry Model 8310 via Redirector but disappear from Outlook 2003 mostly when the messages have attachments regardless of file size.

    Hey RR-2010,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Do you have the synchronize option enabled for reconcile messages in BlackBerry Desktop Manager?
Also is there any reason why you're using BlackBerry Desktop Redirector?  Have you tried setting up the email account via BlackBerry Internet Service?

  • Export Mail inbox and sent mailbox to an Outlook 2003 compatible file

I need to export my Mail inbox and sent mailbox to a file or files that can be imported into MS Outlook 2003 on a PC.
I can find menu options for importing files (although no Outlook files) but don't see a menu entry for exporting mailboxes.
Anyone know how to get this done? I'm going to be a very unhappy camper if this can't be done!

Thunder?????????? Would that be shorthand for Thunderbird from Mozilla?
I just bought a new iMac, and although I've had brushes with Macs before (Systems 6, 9.x, and OS X Jaguar) this is my first serious attempt at using a Mac. Switching from Windows.
But I'm not new to personal computers, my first one was, and still is as I have it in storage, an Atari 800 if you are old enough to have heard of those.
In anticipation of using either Boot Camp or Parallels (I've settled on Parallels because I want "side-by-side operation), I did take the precaution of setting Mail up to leave copies of the emails on the server. So now I only have to deal with my Mail sent mailbox.

  • Can I Get Rid Urgent Flag from Messages sent via Outlook?

    Hi -
I like to use the sort by flag feature in Mail, but have message sent from PCs to me via Outlook with an exclamation mark in the flag field. In Mail, I can flag and unflag messages for sorting purposes. Unfortunately, I can't seem to unmark the exclamation point-marked messges. Is there a way to to that?
    Thanks in advance.

no, you can't do that. the priority flag is set by the sender and is part of the message itself. you, as the receiver, can not change it.

  • I can not connect to my work e-mail using both regular e-mail set-up and mail 2003 (work has Outlook 2003).  I get the error message "no internet connection- as soon as a connection is made it will switch back".  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Why can't I connect to my work e-mail (Outlook 2003) using either the regular e-mail account set-up or Mail 2003? Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have yet to find an email server that does not work with Mail.app. Your solution will be to configure its ports and send/receive protocol according to the email server's requirements.
Try the Zimbra support forums. I found this excerpt from a relevant post:
    http://www.zimbra.com/forums/users/46221-mac-mail-app-dont-work-outside-company. html
in which the following ports were suggested
    ports 25, 465, and/or 487 to send mail.
port 143/993 to retrieve mail over IMAP
