Outlook 2007 Clients Cannot Access Free/Busy Calendar info. for Exchange 2010 Mailbox

Hi:
I have Outlook 2007 clients that cannot access Free/Busy Calendar info. for Exchange 2010 mailboxes.  They receive error like "...you do not have appropriate permissions..."
If those same users logon to a machine running Outlook 2010 then they can view the free/busy info. of the other user's mailbox, so I believe the permissions are set correctly on the mailbox to allow the viewing.
Any insights are greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
Bob Herman IT Tropolis

Hi Herman,
As you said, it seems users have proper permissions on mailbox.
Please make sure users has Reviewer permission on Outlook 2007.
Please try to run Outlook 2007 under safe mode or re-create profile.
Also try to turn Outlook 2007 to Exchange Online mode from Cached mode.
Thanks

  • No calendar connection for Exchange 2010 + Outlook 2013

    My environment is this:
Running Outlook 2013 (as part of Office 2013 Suite) connecting to Exchange Server 2010
    Both cached and non-cached modes
    Connecting using RPC
With both existing profile for last 1yr+ and with a new profile
    Outlook v 15.0.4649.1001
The issue I'm having is a room/resource calendar that I was once able to see I can't anymore.
Running Outlook 2010 as the same user from a different computer works fine.
    OWA works as well.
    Other calendars work
Running Outlook 2013 vs 15.0.4420.1017 also works on a different computer!!!
So this seems to be an issue with my particular version of Outlook, and I did read where a security update seems to have gotten in the way (regression test lately?) but a December patch of 2013 was supposed to fix that. I didn't specifically install the
patch, rather I downloaded from my vendor the latest available version they had.
So is there a patch that will work for me. The only one I've come across tells me it isn't for my machine.
    Thanks,
    Joe

    Hi,
According to your description and test, I understand that the room/resource calendar is invisible in Outlook.
How about changing another user to log on your Outlook?
How about the same version of Outlook on another computer?
Please try to run Outlook under safe mode to avoid some AVs and add-ins.
Please try to re-create profile for testing.
If all method above doesn’t work, please re-install Outlook.

  • Outlook 2007 client reacurrance calendar not updating in mailbox

    Hello,
Using Exchange 2010 and Outlook 2007 client. User has access to a shared Calendar in Public Folder. She makes an Recurrence Appt in Public Folder and invites herself to Appt. If she changes one of the future apt (Location change or something like that) it
updates the Public Folder but not hers. I added myself to this apt and I am using Outlook 2013 and my apt does indeed update. I also can see in "Outlook Web Access" has updated, so just the Outlook 2007 client not updated.
Any thought into why? Unable to Upgrade to user to Outlook 2013 until New year for other reasons.
    thank you for any help.
    Michael

    Hi Michael,
Please first make sure she has installed all available updates for Outlook 2007.
In addition, please have the user temporarily turn off his antivirus and test again.
If still no luck, we may try testing with a new Outlook profile. See:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/829918
Please let me know the result.

I have a problem synching calendar data between my iPhone 3GS iOS 5.1 & Outlook 2007 on MS7.  The basic calendar data transfer is OK but the birthdays (little box icon) are a day early & cannot be changed to the correct date. The birthday entries in my Outlook contacts have correct dates. How can I fix this?

The following peocess corrects the calendar entry:
edit the contact & change the birthday, save the change; edit the contact & change the birthday to the correct value, save the change again. The calendar entry then displays on the correct date.  Alternatively as a temp solution I can just de-select the "birthdays" calendar which stops the icon being displayed.
Thanks for your advice, I think that it's n going to be a slow process to fix all the entries for not much return.

    * OWA email to external email account with attachment goes thru successfully.
    * Outlook 2007 sends to an external email address with attachments the message does not arrive at the external mailbox.   The messages leave Outbox but are never delivered. The messages appear in Sent Items also.
    * Outlook sends non attachment emails to external addresses successfully.
    * Outlook sends email attachments to local domain accounts fine.

#2 Outlook profiles were changed to see if that is the problem.

Any suggestions to get Outlook clients capable of sending attachments configured.
    Thx,
    -Scot

    Hi Scot,
Providing some information on Poison Queue:
The poison message queue is a special queue that's used to isolate messages that are determined to be harmful to the Exchange system after a transport server or service failure.
The messages may be genuinely harmful in their content and format.
Alternatively, they may be the results of a poorly written agent that has caused the Exchange server to fail when it processed the supposedly bad messages.
The poison message queue is typically empty. If the poison message queue contains no messages it doesn't appear in Queue Viewer or
Get-Queue results. The messages in the poison message queue are never automatically resumed or expired. Messages remain in the poison message queue until they're manually resumed or removed by an administrator.
According to the description above, I suspect Outlook 2007 changed the email's format when send email with attachment. The reason as below:
If the original email's (with attachment) content or format is harmful to the Exchange 2007 server, it will go to the Poison Queue when sending via OWA. However it didn't, sending via OWA is perfect. So I suspect it is an issue on the Outlook 2007
    client side.
Please using Pipeline Tracing to verify whether there is something changed during transmission.
More details in the following article:
Using Pipeline Tracing to Diagnose Transport Agent Problems
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb125198(v=exchg.80).aspx
If it is convenient, I suggest doing following tests to narrow down this issue:
Note: Same content, same attachment, same format.
    1. Please using Outlook 2010/2013 or others' Outlook clients for testing.
    2. Please change to another format for testing. More details in the following article:
Change the message format to HTML, Rich Text, or plain text

  • Cannot save free/busy information - Cached mode

So I have a calendar Admin, that has the ability to send meetings on behalf of new hires.  She was is cached mode and sent out a few invites.  Everyone she sent the invites to received the meetings, accepted the meetings and have the meetings on
their calendar.  My Calendar Admin see's the meetings on the new hire's calendar, but no one else can see these meetings on the new hires calendar.  My Calendar Admin mentioned seeing the infamous pop-up "cannot save free/busy information":
I disabled cache mode on my Calendar Admin's Outlook 2013, once I disabled cached mode and close/re-opened Outlook, all the the invites she had sent for the users were gone, no longer listed on the "Organizers" calendar... so somehow the invites
were only saved locally to her cached calendar.  This smells like a pretty bad bug for users with access to shared calendars and seems like they MUST be in NON-CACHED mode when sending any invites on behalf of someone else.  So now, all the meetings
are on all the calendars of the "invitees" but not on the new hire (organizers) calendar.  This is seems to be a reproduceable bug that I'm hoping isn't working "as designed"
Are there any known bugs with this process?  Is there a way around this other than disabling cached mode?  Where do these meetings actually save when in Cached mode on a shared calendar?
    Thanks in advanced

    Hi,
Please check this following setting on her account first.
In Outlook, click File, click Account Settings, and then click Account Settings (again).
Select the Microsoft Exchange account, and then click Change.
    Click More Settings.
    Click the Advanced tab.
Select the Download Shared Folders option.
Click OK, click Next, click Finish, and then click Close in the Account Settings window.
If this doesn’t work, please try to repair or re-create outlook profile to check this issue.
    Exit Outlook.
    In Control Panel, double-click Mail.
    Click Show Profiles.
    Select a profile.
    Click Remove.

  • Windows 7 pro client cannot access folders on server 2003 domain server

I added a windows 7 64 bit client to a server 2003 32 bit domain 3 weeks ago and file sharing was working fine until today, 5/4/12. Now, when trying to access shared folders that reside on the server,
I get the following "access denied" message:
[…folder…] is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.
The user name could not be found.
    Strangely enough...
    The windows 7 client
can open shared folders that reside on the XP clients in the domain
All the XP clients in the domain can access the server 2003 folders
All the XP clients and the server 2003 machine can access shared folders and printers on the windows 7 client.
The windows 7 client can ping the server 2003 machine and vice versa
I can “see” the server in my network list, but when I click on it, I get the same “access denied” message listed above.
So... the only problem is that the windows 7 client cannot access folders that reside on the windows server 2003 machine. There must be some sharing setting that got changed
    by a recent windows update.
Here is what I have done/verified so far on the windows 7 client:
In advanced sharing settings for Home/Work, Public and Domain profiles:
    network discovery is enabled
file and print sharing is enabled
use user accounts and passwords to connect to other computers is selected (I also tried allowing windows to manage homegroup connections instead, but the problem remained.)
40 -56 bit encryption is enabled
    In “gpedit.msc” Local Policies/Security Settings:
    enabled the following policies:
Network access: Allow anonymous SID/name translation
Network access: Let Everyone permissions apply to anonymous users
    disabled the following policies:
Network access: Restrict anonymous access to Named Pipes and Shares
Network access: Do not allow anonymous enumeration of SAM accounts
Network access: Do not allow anonymous enumeration of SAM accounts and shares
What am I missing? Are there policies on the server that need to be adjusted?
Please help! My business is crippled if I cannot access server files from this workstation. Thank you in advance.

  • New inbox rule not showing up in Outlook 2007 client

I have made a rule for testing with the Exchange Management Shell. The rule worked. My problem lies in that the end-users have Outlook 2007 for the client software but the rule I create isn't visible (though it is working). The end-user needs to be able
to switch the rule on and off still. The rule does show up in the Outlook Web App however. I can't figure out why the rule isn't list in the Outlook 2007 client. Any ideas on how to fix this?

    Hi AMartin89,
    Thank you for your question.
Did you rebuild profile to check if the issue persist?
Did the issue occur on all users?
Could you post command which you create Inbox rule on PS?
What is you outlook version? We could update outlook to latest version to check if the issue persist.
We could configure profile on outlook 2010 to check if the issue persist.
If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.

  • Outlook 2003 clients cannot connect to shared diaries on Exchange 2010

Having recently upgraded to Exchange 2010 from 2003, I am now receiving calls from users regarding the above.
I am due to move to Office 2013 later this year but there are some third party app incompatibilities I need to get resolved first.
So I came across the following article
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2299468?wa=wsignin1.0
and have changed the default RCAMaxConcurrency from 20 to a very high value of 214783647 and have restarted the Throttling services.
However, my Outlook 2003 users are still having issues when they have less then 16 calendars open.
I have ran Get-ThrottlingPolicy to confirm my changes which is correct.
As another approach, I have got users to run the /resetnavpane switch when lauching Outlook to clear down any orphaned references.
Can anyone suggest what else I could try?

    Hi,
As per the information and details provided by you, to solve this issue, please follow these steps: -
To resolve this problem, create a custom throttling policy by using an increased value for
RCAMaxConcurrency. Then, associate this custom throttling policy to the mailboxes that require Outlook 2003 clients to open multiple shared calendars.
After you make this change, wait for the
Active Directory replication to finish. By default, the throttling policy should be applied after
15 minutes. To apply it immediately, restart the Microsoft Exchange RPC Client Access service on the
    Client Access Server (CAS).
    Note: - An
RCAMaxConcurrency value of 100 is suffient in typical cases in which Outlook 2003 has to open
29 shared calendars. This value may have to be increased, depending on which
    Outlook add-ins is installed.
Important: - The original release of Exchange Server 2010
allows a maximum parameters value for RCAMaxConcurrency of 100. Exchange server 2010 service pack 1 increase the maximum value for
    RCAMaxConcurrency to 2147483647.
I hope this information will be helpful for you.
    Thanks and regards

  • Certificate error on Outlook 2013 clients, Outlook 2007 clients do not get certificate error, Exchange 2010, dot local domain name

    Hi
I'm looking for a solution that I can't seem to find.  I have an Exchange 2010 server running in a dot local domain (domainname.local), so my SSL certificate is installed using the servers external email DNS name.  email.mycompany.com
I have followed the instructions to resolve this on the Exchange server, implemented the changes so autodiscovery sees the server as email.mycompany.com.  This works great for my Outlook 2007 users.  The downside is that none of my Outlook 2013
clients can access their email without the certificate error server name mismatch.
I know Outlook 2013 has tighter security but I need to get rid of these cert errors, any thoughts out there?

    Hi,
Since both your Outlook 2007 users and Outlook 2013 users are using Exchange 2010 with the same server configuration, it should be working in both Outlook client version.
Please restart your IIS service by running IISReset /noforce from a Command Prompt window in Exchange to have a try. In Outlook, please re-create a Outlook profile to check whether the issue persists.

  • Exchange 2013, Outlook 2007 clients Problems with Outlook Anywhere connection

    Hi everyone,
    I have a mail system Exchange 2013 SP1, on Windows Server 2012 R2.
I have only one mail server with the Client Access and Mailbox roles Server.
    I have a Wildcard certificate type *. Mydomain.com.
All connections to the Outlook Anywhere Outlook 2010, Outook 2013 work correctly.
The ActiveSync connections are working properly, too.
But Outlook 2007 clients connecting with Outlook Anywhere asking for credentials continuously fail continuously.
    How can I solve this?
    thank you very much
Microsoft Certified IT Professional Server Administrator

    Hi,
Based on my experience, we need to set Outlook provider with the domain name if it's wildcard certificate:
    Set-OutlookProvider -Identity EXPR -CertPrincipalName msstd:*.domain.com
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc535023(EXCHG.80).aspx
Thus, I recommend you try the above configuration and test the Outlook connection again.
