Outlook 2007 won't connect / Autodiscover issues

Hello Foristas,
I'm stuck ... so I hope someone will point me in the right direction. This is the scenario:
Target: Migrate 2003SBS to EX2013. SBS hat been migrated to 2008R2 AD Server plus EX2010. This went without problems. Outlook and OWA worked just fine. A 2012 AD Server has been added.
EX2013 has been installed on a fresh 2012 Server. Still everything worked. Mailboxes were moved and still everything worked. EX2010 was decomissioned (seemingly in a hurry :-( ) and now users can't connect via Outlook.
Outlook Version (2007) is up to date, OWA works fine. I can't use the external Connectivity Test because I have no access to either external DNS nor Firewallconfiguration. The customer also doesn't need external access.
Internally I have A-Records for
exchsrv.intdom.local
autodiscover.intdom.local
Lookups work fine. I can access https://autodiscover/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml as well as https://autodiscover.intdom.local/.... and exchsrv/autodiscover (I get the invalid request answer)
Certificates are signed by a domain CA, the root certificate is installed and there is no certificate warning when accessing OWA (or EWS, for that matter).
When trying to connect Outlook, I get that "no connection to Exchange - outlook ha to be online" error (like many others ...). When trying to create a new profile, Outlook barfs at "logging on to server" (wording might be different, I'm
on a german system).
I've double-checked that AutoDiscoverInternalURI is correct (it's autodiscover.intdom.local/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml) as well as AutodiscoverVirtualDirectory InternalUrl is set and correct.
Now here is what is really strange: Out of despair, I just clicked "repair account" and I was able to connect. Once. I could send Mails and receive internally. After restarting Outlook, it was and stayed disconnected. But at least I was able to
run the Outlook Autodiscover diagnostics and what I see: Outlook tries lots of autodiscover.EXTdom.com URIs, but net even tries the internal one. So for testing, I created a host entry on the client pointing autodiscover.EXTdom.com to the internal IP of the
Exchange-Server. I created a new profile and the ran through the assistant and had a working outlook. Once. After restarting, Outlook was disconnected again andcreating a new profile doesn't help. I've recreated that scenario and I'm able to create a working
profile just once and it will only work for the first start.
With the host entry present, when I open https://autodiscover.EXTdom.com/aut.... , a login prompt appears ...
I suspect something fishy in the AD, but I have no more ideas where to look after trying to track that down since yesterday morning.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Chris

Hi,
Glad that you have resolved the connectivity issue.
According to your description, there is something wrong with your OAB. And I recommend the following articles which can help you troubleshoot the OAB issue:

  • Unbale to install November update on Outlook 2007 SP3 for connecting to Exchange 2013

    Hi
I was trying to upgrade my outlook 2007 clients for connecting to Exchange 2013 environment. First I have installed Office SP3 (kb2526086). Outlook version after that is 12.0.6607.1000. Later I  tried to install nNovember 2012 update which is a
prerequisite for connecting to Exchange 2013 clients (support.microsoft.com/kb/2687404/en-us) but it shows me a message "Expected version of the product was not found on the system". No idea  how to proceed now, expecting help.

  • Outlook 2007 won't open .pst file from Outlook 2000

I have been using Outlook 2000 for 10 years and hit the 2GB limit. As a result, Outlook 2000 would not open mail and did not permit me to delete mail to clear space.
I’d been meaning to install my Office 2007 and this seemed like the time to do so. Once installed, I attempted to open my 2 GB PST file in Outlook 2007. No luck.
Messages: “The message interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem persists, restart Outlook.” And “Cannot display information. There is either a problem connecting to the server or an error has occurred.”
Researching on the Web, I found Microsoft guidance that I could create a new data file and import the old (ANSI) .PST file into this new (Unicode) .PST file. When I did
that, during the Import, I encountered another error message: “The file has reached its maximum size. (Followed by two unhelpful sentences – can’t be imported).”
OK, I think, I have to reduce the size of that file. Research yields Microsoft’s “oversized PST and PST crop tool.”
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/296088 I do that and follow the instructions to scan the truncated file with Microsoft’s
scanpst.exe tool, which is included with Office.
Another error: scanpst.exe will not complete its scan. I receive a mysterious error message with no indication what the exact problem is. I created multiple versions
of the truncated .PST file, each smaller than the last, so that the smallest was 1.7 GB. Still errors with scanpst.exe and ultimately no luck.
I have spent more than 10 hours trying to solve this problem and am at wit’s end. I’m a freelance writer, and it’s costing me money. What’s worse,
info on projects I’m supposed to be working on are locked in that PST file! All data is stored locally on a Dell laptop with Windows 7.
    Help anybody? Please? Thank you!

Fifteen hours later, I was back in business, having upgraded from Outlook 2000 to Outlook 2007, a process one would expect to take a half-hour tops. I'm no IT pro, but
I am pretty accomplished at fixing problems. This one seemed beyond my reach, as neither of the utilities Microsoft recommended to address the issue, the truncation tool and scanpst.exe, worked -- what a surprise! I engaged a local technician to diagnose the
problem remotely, and over a course of four hours he fixed it using a third-party program called "Outlook Recovery Toolbox." I'd actually downloaded that tool and fooled around a bit, but didn't use it for a full scan as I think that required a purchase, and
who knows if it's malware or what. Well, it worked.
So 15 hours lost. That cost me hundreds of dollars as I am self-employed, plus I have a $150 bill from the technician, which is more than fair for his two hours of labor
(the extra two hours were scanning and importing time). Again, Microsoft managed to turn into an epic ordeal what the consumer expects to be a straightforward upgrade process.
Now I have Outlook 2007, oh boy! The first thing I notice is the inflexible mail header above the message body. WTF is that supposed to be? Who was the Einstein who thought
that up? It renders USELESS like an inch of real estate right in the center of the screen! I find that it can be hidden (not, of course, with a simple, convenient and sensible right click ... oh NOOOO ... but through multi-click options available in the toolbar).
(For background, Outlook 2000 did not have that inflexible mail header -- the header info (subject, date, sender, CC) was part of the email, so if you scrolled down the
email, the header went with it and made the best possible use of available space).
Now here's a twist -- Outlook does not show, in your list of emails, whether an email has an attachment if the email was sent via Lotus Notes. That was a glitch in 2000,
and one I would expect to have been resolved in 2007. BUT NO. So, just moments ago, I have an email/meeting invitation sent from a client using Lotus Notes. Even though I had told Outlook to hide headers, it disobeyed me ...
why? Because this was a "meeting invite" email, offering me options, in that stupid inflexible header, to Accept, Decline, Propose New Time, & etc. Well, those options only increased the size of that inflexible header, so that the visible area of
the email WAS LESS THAN ONE INCH HIGH. Yes, I can adjust it -- how very productive!
These two Microsoft glitches / manifestations of poor design -- no alerting to attachments from Lotus clients and that horrid header -- very nearly conspired to cause
me to miss a critical attachment displayed only at the very bottom of the email. The document attached needs to be read and commented before the meeting, and only by the grace of God did I happen to scroll, IN THAT 3/4 INCH MAIL WINDOW, to the bottom and happen
    to spot said critical attachment.
Do I expect anything more from Microsoft ... other than more grief and stupidity? Sadly, I do not. It is my misfortune in life to have to use Microsoft Word on a daily
basis, as I have for the past 10 years.
Before that, I used WordPerfect and what a wonderful program it was! I recall using WordPerfect to write and design one lovely graphical document in particular that earned
me an A+ in class. WordPerfect was so easy and powerful, with virtually no hassles—just gratification. Is it better to have loved (WordPerfect) and lost, than to have never loved at all?
Unfortunately, since all my clients use Word, I have to as well. Frankly, and I hope this isn’t against board rules, I am merely speaking the truth as I see it—Microsoft
Word is an utterly wretched application that has caused me untold grief and aggravation. Bulleting, text boxes, fickle fonts, the list is very, very long …. But it only gets worse!!!
    The whole .doc .vs
docx is a complete debacle; the “Compatibility Pack” is a cruel joke. If I use Word 2000 on .docx documents, here are some of the inconveniences and frustrations that I encounter:
    Bulleting function grayed out
    Spelling errors not highlighted
Additional linespaces introduced into printed documents
Mysterious transposition of bold, italics and underlining
Inability to work with text boxes (“Error! Reference source not found!”)
    Track Changes not accurately recorded
These are not incidental issues. I’m a spelling bee champion, but unless the spelling highlight function works, I am bound to have a typo or two in a 20-page document.
This affects the quality of my work and my livelihood.
To make matters worse, my Windows 7 often won’t find .docx documents. If I had worked on a .docx document something four months that I recall included the word
“Rumplestiltskin,” the Windows 7 Find function should locate it, but it does not.
I could go on and on. How about the dismal wireless connectivity in Window 7, vs. XP, which was virtually flawless. But I’m trying to catch up on the 15 hours that I lost yesterday thanks to Microsoft’s
awful Outlook troubleshooting and upgrade functionality.

Tab, then click New and enter the path)

the new calendar could display all the events correctly after set up, but it won't update the new event anymore automatically. even I close and re-open the outlook, it still not update, the last update time is the time when set up this calendar.
for outlook 2010, i tested, it can auto update the internet calendar when open the outlook everytime.
is this the problem with outlook 2007?
(I don't want user to press F9 to refresh everytime)
and i also tried to add X-PUBLISHED-TT property in the iCal file and it seems not working also
    Please help ! Thanks !

     Hi
    zhenyun,
Sorry for Late reply, if you are still facing same
issue then you should go for some kind of auto refresh plug-in or Add-in. After a bit search on Google, I found some of them called
    “Zoho” and “Vtiger”.
As I am not much sure about this Add-in, you have to read about
its functionally first by visiting given link.

  • Vista & Outlook 2007 won't syncronize to my 6133 p...

I am running Vista Enterprise and MS Outlook 2007 on a laptop. All security / updates have been applied. I have PC Suite 6.83.14.1 on the system. From the web pages, this is proper one to connect to my 6133 phone. I am using a USB cable to connect.
When I try to syncronize my Outlook calendar / To-do items it will syncronize 12 of 115 items and then stop. I get cryptic warning message in the sync tool:
"PC Sync was unable to locate your Outlook message store"
I called support and got an "explanation" that Outlook 2007 is the problem and my laptop has to be off the LAN for it to work. Guess what???? That did not help.
My old laptop running XP and Outlook 2003 worked just fine so this tells me it is not an issue with the phone.
Has anyone else seen a Vista/Outlook issue and do you have a fix?
    Thanks in advance.
    Ken

As they say on TV, "Doh"!!!
I figured out the problem. I started the Sync tool, selected "Settings", then "Mcrosoft Outlook" tab and then "Select Folders" button. I browsed to the proper folders in Outlook (Calendar, Tasks, etc). Select OK enough times and retried the sync.
    It worked.

  • Outlook 2007 does not connect to exchange at computer startup

    Hi all :)
Here's the situation we're encountring: we are using exchange 2010 with outlook 2007 clients. The issue is that at the startup of the computer, outlook does not connect to exchange (it opens up but it marks that it's not connected to exchange). After trying
a few times it connects and stays stable (if I close outlook and I open it again, it connects normally).
This suggests that there's may be a DNS problem: The client is having an issue resolving the name, but once it does and the IP of exchange is available in the cache, outlook doesn't face any issues.
So I ran some nslookup commands and I noticed the following:
when I try to resolve the name of exchange, the request times out twice before providing the answer.
This issue occurs only for forward lookups (when I try to resolve the same IP for the hostname, there's no timeout)
I also noticed that this issue only occurs when I run nslookup from the client machines (no timeout when I run it from exchange for instance).
Any ideas about what the problem might be? Could it be something else other than DNS?
Thank you all for your help.

    Hi all,
The problem seems not to be related to DNS. Our exchange 2010 organization was actually migrated from a 2007 one. Since then we noticed this issue of outlook taking too much time to connect and sometimes disconnects. I was messing around into adsiedit and
I noticed that a decomissioned Mailbox Server from our old exchange 2007 organization still exists among the new exchange 2010 objects.
To further look into it, I ran best practise analyser, the result (to my surprise) was that exchange is still trying to contact the old exchange 2007 server.
I ran some network trafic captures with Network Monitor, but I was not very successful interpreting anything.
I uploaded the .cap files with the best practise analyser report and a print screen of the old server into adsiedit objects. I hope you'll be able to help with it.
I took the network captures on the two CAS Servers (configured in a CAS array) and on a client machine. The IP addresses are as follow:
    client 192.168.0.47
    Domain Controller1 192.168.1.205
    Domain Controller2 192.168.1.213
    CAS1 192.168.2.216
    CAS2 192.168.2.217
    CAS Array 192.168.2.218

  • Outlook 2007 - single profile connecting to Exchange 2013 / 2007 mailboxes

    Hi,
I am in the early part of a migration from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013. So far I have 2013 installed and running in a DAG and just moved my own mailbox to the new server.
I set up a new profile in Outlook 2007 which connects to my mailbox on Exchange 2013. The problem is that I need to add additional mailboxes to my profile which are still hosted on Exchange 2007, however this is not working.
I thought at one stage I tested this and was able to get it work with a test mailbox also hosted on Exchange 2013.. but maybe I never did.
Does anyone know if this is possible at all (single Outlook profile, primary mailbox hosted on Exchange 2013 and other mailboxes on Exchange 2007). Most of our users have an additional mailbox mapped in their profile so I hope there is some way around this.
    Thank you!

    Hi,
It is possible to open a shared mailboxes on a legacy server.
Your problem could be caused by:
Not having one of the later CU installed (read CU4 or CU5)
Incorrect authentication methods configured (see link below)
Outlook is not at the latest patch level
Users of Exchange Server 2013 can't open public folders or shared mailboxes on an Exchange 2010 or Exchange 2007 server

  • Tungsten E & Outlook 2007 won't sync

Hello.  I just moved to a new laptop with Outlook 2007 and Win XP Pro.  It's the same exact setup I had on my old laptop, but now my Palm E2 won't sync.  I've reinstalled the latest Palm software and Outlook conduits twice, and done a hard reset on my Palm E twice.  The sync appears to run as if there is no problem, but nothing updates.  The log says each sync ran correctly:
    HotSync operation started 09/27/10 09:58:30
    OK Calendar
    OK Contacts
    OK Tasks
    OK Memos
    OK Note Pad
Quick Install - Sync configured to Do Nothing.
System - sync configured to Do Nothing
    HotSync operation complete 09/27/10 09:58:34
But nothing actually updated.  I am showing data that's weeks old (I had given up and decided just not to use my Palm any more, because I was so frustrated).   Can you help?
    Thanks.
    Toni
    Post relates to: Tungsten E

You stated you installed the latest version of PD. Is it 6.2? Go to help-about to check the version number.
If you do, go to start-programs-palm-PIM conduit sync and change the sync to Outlook. The Outlook 2007 conduits are built-in in 6.2. See if this may work.
In hotsync manager, does it show (Outlook) beside each of the 4 basic conduits?
For reference purposes, click on the following link for the support page for your device on the kb.palm.com webpage.

  • Contacts, Calendar in Outlook 2007 won't sync

I've been unable to get my Outlook 2007 Contacts and Calendar to sync with my iPhone. I noted in an earlier discussion something about "reset sync data history" but I cannot find a place in which to do that.
I'm using a Windows XP computer with the latest iTunes on it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you!

I too have the same problem! Boy am I glad (ok not really) to hear I'm not the only one.
I set the options in iTunes to sync the calendar/contacts to Outlook (2003). My iTunes (music) is syncing fine, but anything coming from Outlook is NOT. I manually entered in 4 contacts on the iPhone and synced it up and did not receive any dialog (on computer) that said the contacts will be overwritten (as user guide described). However, when I deleted those same 4 contacts from the iPhone, then I did receive a dialog saying that they were deleted from iPhone and changes would be applied to the computer (but then they were not as I did not see the contacts disappear from Outlook).
I found some online help on Apple that referred to troubles with syncing and described restarting iPhone and re-installing iTunes. I tried that and no change.
I also tried the reset sync data history as described by previous poster, and no change.
I read in the user guide that the sync is supposed to be bi-directional (changes made in iPhone go to computer and vice versa) but so far I'm only seeing any changes that I make on iPhone go back onto iPhone.
If anyone finds a solution to this problem, please post!

  • Outlook 2007 won't start with 10.1.3 installed

    Hi,
I'm trying to a do a fresh install of 10.1.3 on a windows XP machine that is running outlook 2007. The install goes ok but when I start Outlook I get the following error
"Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. Either you don't have sufficient permissions, the server does not support creating folders in this location or the server does not support certain characters in the folder name. Please try moving the folder or renaming it”
Does anybody know what could be causing this?
    Thanks

    Hi,
The user is an administrator on the PC.
I'd already tried installing into a fresh profile but I still get the same error message. I looks like something is trying to create a new folder when Outlook starts up and the Oracle Collaboration Suite does not like it But I can't work out what that could be. I can't turn on logging either because Outlook exits as soon as I acknowledge the message.
    Thanks

  • Outlook 2010 won't connect to exchange 2010 - logon box appears

Users can't connect to Exchange server from outlook 2010.  The domain\user and password boxes keep popping up and will not accept the details.  It ends with "the connection to exchange is unavailable.  Outlook needs to be online to perform
    this action"
I've searched high and low for an answer and none work.  Anyone any ideas?
Exchange is behind Threat Management Gateway 2010, with applicable rules setup.  Strangeley, Outlook Web Access works fine with no problems what so ever.

Ok.  Done some reading and made some adjustments but still pretty much the same.  Microsofts Exchange analyser tool come up with the folowing errors and does indeed pinpoint it down to the autodiscover service.  The srv record for the autodiscover

I have Exchange Server 2010 in Small Business Server 2011.  I have several remote clients that are not part of the SBS domain, but they use Outlook Anywhere to connect to Exchange.
We originally started with a self-signed and eventually added a GoDaddy SSL certificate.  Some of the remote clients lose the settings for Outlook Anywhere randomly.  The proxy checkbox is unchecked and the MSSTS settings have all disappeared.
I investigated this and it seems to point to autodiscover.  Our DNS is hosted externally so I created an A-Host record at Netowork Solutions called autodiscover and resolved it to the static IP address of the server.  When I did this the remote
clients started to get certificate security warnings.
Next I tried to create a CNAME called _autodiscover for mail.mydomain.com and this didn't work either, certificate security erros
Is my Outlook Anywhere issue an 'autodiscover' problem and if it is, what amI doing wrong?  Here are some additional details:
Self-signed certificate is mail.mydomain.com.  GoDaddy Class 2 certificate authority has identified this site as mail.mydomain.com.  The connection to the server is encrypted.

  • Outlook 2011 won't connect offsite

we are using Exchange 2007 and i can't get my email to work off site using outlook for mac 2011. It work on site but when i try from my house it dose not work. I have it working on IPhone and IPad's but can't get it working on the macbook pro at all. I can't us the mail app or out look. I know we use OWA to connect to outlook. I can use it on my PC at home and my pc laptop. All the mac laptop that use 2011 outlook can't connect to exchange sever at home. The URL is Https://myserver.edu/owa

I've been using Outlook with Gmail ever since Outlook replaced Entourage and have never encountered any problems.
Your incoming and outgoing server names are correct, but I'm use port 993 for imap.gmail.com and port 465 for smtp.gmail.com. I'm also using SSL on both ports and have Authentication set for username and password (using the "Advanced" button in Account setup) for the smtp server.
Good luck - I think that you just have a port problem...

  • Outlook 2007 doesn't connect hub server automatically

We have exchange 2010 installed for our organization. We have two HUB transport mail servers in our system for load balancing purpose. When we configure Microsoft outlook in a workstation then it connect with hub02 even if we select hub01 manually.
    what can i do now?
    Setu Bandhan Saha

    Hi,
To understand more about this issue, I’d like to ask How you manually selected the HUB01.
Because if there are multiple HUB roles in one site, by default, the HUB roles are always load balanced, and we don’t need to manually point the dedicated server.
If you have any question, please feel free to let me know.
    Thanks,
    Angela Shi
When we configure outlook, then we select the email server manually, in there we put the server name of the server.

  • Outlook 2003 won't connect with gmail

I use Outlook 2003 SP3 on my Windows 7 laptop and it will not always pull my gmail down using the Verizon hotspot. My AT&T hotspot works fine, and a direct wifi connection works fine.
I get the server not available message.
However, in the Options setup, I can test and receive the gmail just fine, including the test message.
Some research indicates this might be an issue with IPv6 verses IPv4.
Other than updating to Outlook 2010 which does not appear to have the same issue, any suggestions?

Hey there skyking4ar.  That certainly is odd. If you're able to get gmail sometimes you certainly should be able to all of the time, especially if a competitors device is always able to bring it up.
Do you have any issues with any other websites? Which mobile hotspot device do you have? Are the server settings set up correctly?
Please provide additional details skyking4ar and we will continue to troubleshoot. I am confident we can resolve the issue.
