Outlook 2010 cannot connect to exchange

I have outlook 2010 installed on my windows 7 laptop which connects to exchange server as domain user without issue. On another windows 7 computer, logged in with the same domain account, I tried to set up office 2010 but no matter what I have tried, it
will not connect and keeps prompting me for my domain name and password. I have re-installed office 2010 several times, recreated the user profile, deleted out any office folders I could find in appdata etc. but to no avail. I have looked in credential management
but find nothing there. Tried setting up the email profile though control panel mail but that wont work either.

Hi,
Is the new Windows 7 machine domain –joined for internal access or external access by using Outlook Anywhere?
If the account can’t be automatically set up by using autodiscover service, please try to configure the account manually by the following article:
Set up your Office 365 or other Exchange-based email in Outlook 2010 or Outlook 2013

  • Microsoft Outlook 2010 cannot connect to exchange server

I have just got Microsoft Outlook 2010 and I cannot open it.
When I click to open it I get an error message saying that "the connection to microsoft exchange is unavailable. Microsoft must be online or connected to complete this action"
I have checked my connection www.testexchangeconnectivity.com
and everything is OK here. I can connect through owa and I use the exchange server on my ipad and my phone so I have no idea what is going on.
I have tried lots of other solutions that have been on forums but none of them have worked for me. Please can you help?
    Kind Regards

PS apologies for the green text but I copied and pasted the web link and could not get rid of the green text afterwards!

    Hi,
If you test on www.testexchangeconnectivity.com is ok.
Maybe it has some issue on Client setting.
So please check if client setting is correct and if you fill the DNS server on client and can resolve the Exchange URL.

  • Outlook 2013 cannot connect to Exchange 2010 SP2 server, Outlook 2010, OWA work fine. Ideas?

After upgrading a laptop from Outlook 2010 to 2013 it can no longer connect to our Exchange 2010 SP2 environment.  OWA works, Outlook 2010 works, but Outlook 2013 will not create a profile via AutoDiscover.  The first two checks go, the last check
Log On To server will not.
We can take the laptop to a different network and it works fine with Outlook 2013.
What is different with Outlook 2013 where it will not connect.

Does it work when we recreate a new Outlook profile?
At this point, We high recommand that we run Microsoft Connectivity Analyzer Tool from the folloing link to check what was happening

  • Outlook 2010 clients connected to Exchange but not updating

Hi, I am running a single Exchange 2013 server at CU6, with clients running Outlook 2010 with SP2.
Clients are connected to Exchange without a problem, but Outlook is not updating, even though clients are set to do a full send/receive every 2 minutes. Users are getting new email on their phones but it doesnt arrive in Outlook even after a full 2 minutes.
By disabling Cached mode, Outlook then updates correctly. Checking the Connection Status, I find only 1 connection to Exchange. Ran the Auto-configuration test, and it's clean.  Ran tests at https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com/ and all was fine. I
    would appreciate any assistance.
    THANK YOU,
    Mike

    Hello,
From your description it sounds like there may be some corruption in the OST file (or maybe for some reason something else has the OST file locked).  Some things to try:
Shutdown Outlook and make sure there are no Outlook.exe's running in task maanger.  Once that's done try to rename the user's OST file.  If you get an error saying the file is locked that's your issue.  You should be able to figure out what
process has a lock on the OST file wiht either something like handles.exe or my personal favorite procmon.
If you can rename the OST file without issue then that would point me to an issue with the OST file.  At that point I would try to create a new Outlook Profile in cached mode and recreate the OST file.
It also might be worth while installing the latest updates for Outlook 2010 if you haven't done so already (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn803988(v=office.14).aspx)

  • Outlook 2010 cannot connect to Century Link server

My Outlook was working fine and Century Link made log in changes.  I have had professional work on my computer, still would not work, a clean install was done.  Outlook worked off and on in his office but will not work in my home.  Century
Link blames Outlook and I have spent countless hours with settings, all test messages fail.  Can anyone help?

    Hi,
Based on the provided information we can't determine the issue is on Outlook or CenturyLink right now, I need to know some more information to narrow this down.
What type of account do you use in Outlook? POP3 or IMAP?
What changes did CenturyLink make to the settings? Could you please provide the details such as send/receive servers and portals? Make sure there is no firewall settings on your home computer to block these settings.
As you mentioned all the test messages failed, I need to know failed when sending or receiving?

  • Sporadic errors from Outlook 2010: - "The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action."

One of my users is reporting the above error, often when she attempts to access the global address list (GAL).  If she tries again she can access the GAL and continue working.   She is, however, becoming frustrated with the frequency she is
    seeing the error pop up.
Client is running Windows 7 and Outlook 2010.
Server is Exchange 2010 SP3 running on Windows 2008 R2.
I am grateful for any answers.  Thank you!!
    ...Jim

    Hi,
Based on the description, some users got this error message while they tried to access the GAL. But if they tried again, they could access the GAL.
Do they run Outlook in cached mode?
If it is cached mode, please switch to online mode to check the result.
If online mode works well, this issue is related to OAB. I recommend you check the Autodiscover service by using "Test Email Autocnfiguration" in Outlook.

  • Lync 2013 on Windows Phone 8 cannot connect to Exchange via TMG

    Hi,
I've found that the latest Lync 2013 client on WP8 cannot connect to our Exchange Server 2010 via TMG and the problem is related to autodiscovery. Based on detailed log analysis the symptom is the following:
    1. The client is sending a request:
    GET
    https://autodiscover.neostratus.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
    2. It gets a TMG logon form and then tries to POST here:
    POST
    https://autodiscover.neostratus.com/cookieauth.dll?getlogon?curl=z2fautodiscoverz2fautodiscover.xml&reason=0&formdir=9
    <Autodiscover xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/exchange/autodiscover/outlook/requestschema/2006">
    <Request><EMailAddress>[email protected]</EMailAddress>
    <AcceptableResponseSchema>http://schemas.microsoft.com/exchange/autodiscover/outlook/responseschema/2006a</AcceptableResponseSchema>
    </Request></Autodiscover>
    </SentRequest>
The URL is wrong and it fails of course. This is the situation with Lync credentials and manually configured Exchange credentials as well.
Other clients (PC, iOS) can connect fine and all test tools confirm that our autodiscovery setup is correct. I can POST the above XML using basic authentication to the correct URL and get a correct response. And the same autodiscovery process works fine
when setting up an email account on the same WP8 device.
Is this a known WP8 Lync 2013 client bug and is there a workaround?
    BR,
    Andras

    Hi,
The lync client should be able to sing in Lync Server and just lost calendar information if Lync client cannot connect to Exchange. Please double check if the device is able to connect to the EWS URL.

  • Outlook 2013 not connect with Exchange server 2013 in internal network

    Hello All,
I Have two Exchange server 2013 in our environment. Both server install mailbox and CAS role. After configure exchange server 2013, Outlook 2013 not connect in internal network. I have configure outlook manually. i tried by using the suggestion from blog
but not work. Outlook show that Server cannot connect/ server name could not be resolved. in outlook setting i also put exchange proxy setting. In exchange admin center i have changed the OWA, OAB, Auto discover name. But still not work.
I know that outlook can be connect from external by using ssl certificate and publish outlook anywhere but i did my configure from internal network.
Can you please suggest as soon as possible.
    Thanks,
    Parvez

    Hi,
Firstly, I’d like to explain, same with external users, internal users use Outlook Anywhere to connect with Exchange server and use Autodiscover get all settings.
Thus, let’s try the following resolutions:
    1. run the following command: get-clientaccessservice |fl autodiscoverserviceinternaluri
    2. check if the host name in the above URL is in the DNS server and there is a DNS entry about the host name points to the proper IP address.
    3. Check if the above host name is in your certificate.
    Thanks,

  • Cannot connect to Exchange 2007 server on OS 3.1

    Hi
Since I've upgraded to OS 3.1 on my iPhone 3GS I cannot connect to my Exchange 2007 server. The phone simply tells me "The connection to the server failed.".

Is there anyway to debug this? The Exchange server works fine in Outlook and I can even connect to the web interface through Safari on the iPhone.

    Hi,
According to your description, users cannot connect to Exchange server 2013 both internal and external.
Please run Test E-mail AutoConfiguration in Outlook to check your autodiscover service. Also
reset your Exchange virtual directory to connect correctly. If the issue still continues after all configurations are setting properly, collect some Event logs would be helpful.
If there is any question, please post the results here for further analysis.

  • Outlook 2010 cannot use Secure Password Authentication

I am the administrator of the server running Microsoft Windows 2003 Server POP3 service since 2008. It hosts my email account. Nobody but me manages the settings of the server and the client side. Until the moment I decided to install Microsoft Outlook
2010 as a client there was Secure Password Authentication working between Outlook 2003 and Windows 2003 Server. After installing of Outlook 2010, when I try to sync, the SPA authentication doesn't work. Nothing is changed on the server side.
Enabling the SPA authentication on the both sides results a communicaton problem between Microsoft Windows 2003 Server POP3 service and Microsoft Outlook 2010 client. When I disable SPA on both sides the connection works but password is sent
as plain text. Actually I started a discussion on
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2010-outlook/outlook-2010-cannot-use-secure-password/66dafd66-1b00-43b5-96fb-b8a26254fc77 but I didn't receive an answer with a solution.

    Snefels,
This is actually a known issue that Outlook 2010 doesn't work well with Windows Server 2003 POP services.
Here is the blog post for the issue:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/jjameson/archive/2010/04/26/outlook-2010-does-not-work-with-windows-server-2003-pop3-service.aspx
If you read the comments below, you'll found that some readers' shared some workaround/solutions, which reportedly works for others. So you might want to have a look.
Disable SPA on the Windows 2003 POP3 server and do the same in Outlook 2010 POP setup.. using the full email address, "[email protected]" instead of just doug (if using the Secure Password Authentication).

  • User cannot connect to exchange server

I have rounded up all of the usual suspects and am at a loss here. A user has been running in offline mode for a while. The ability to uncheck offline mode is greyed out. Pinged my Exchange server by name to see if resolves from this PC. It does. Renamed
.ost so a new one would be generated. No help. I removed the Outlook profile in Control Panel>mail and tried to create a new one. I get the cannot connect to Exchange error. I tried to log in as him on my PC and have the same results. I do not see any issues
with his account on my Exchange server. Any ideas to check on next? Never had one do this before.

This type of error generally occurs when user had disabled Encryption of data between Microsoft
Office Outlook and Microsoft Exchange profile , and default configuration of Exchange requires RPC encryption from Outlook client , which is not available, so this error is displayed.
To solve this issue you may try any of these solutions below:
    1. Disable the encryption requirement on all CAS servers.
    2. Try to manually update your Outlook profile with RPC encryption.
    3.
Expand Group Policy settings to update existing Outlook profiles with RPC encryption
Hope this will work for you !!!

  • Outlook Can't connect to Exchange Server

    Dear All;
I install the exchange server 2013 in our Environment with basic configurations, it was work correctly in out look and OWA.
In this period I install  outlook Clint  and connect to exchange correctly , Then I log in to Exchange Administrations Center , then make some changes , after that i can't connect  outlook Clint  to exchange server  while I
can connect to OWA but with error message related to Certificate.(Kindly check the screen shoot of error )
Kindly help me to solve this issue I beginner  with Exchange.

Here are the default permissions for the Exchange virtual directories:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg247612(v=exchg.150).aspx
I found that the print in the screenshots was not clear - maybe it's me or my browser.
What names do you have on the certificate?
    exchange.abc.local
    Is that it?
Is this a self-signed certificate? Or did you get it from Digicert, VeriSign, GoDaddy or some other 3rd party authority?
Regardless, the URLs for the virtual directories, OWA in particular, have to match what is on the cert.
    So OWA might be:
    https://mail.exchange.abc.local/owa
    Other possibility:
    https://webmail.exchange.abc.local/owa
Since exchange.abc.local is what you have on the cert, the URL has to configured as shown above. You can use "mail", "webmail" or whatever just before (once again, as shown above) but you have to make sure that is what the users enter
when they attempt to access email.
Please mark as helpful if you find my contribution useful or as an answer if it does answer your question. That will encourage me - and others - to take time out to help you.

  • Outlook 2010 behaves strange with exchange 2013

    Hello,
I imported a san certificate with a domain name for local use. This is exchange.xxxx.xx . This is also a A-record pointing to the same ip of the actual server.
The name of the exchange server itself is mail01.xxxx.xx .
My laptop is not a part of the domain. When i want to add my mailbox i use exchange.xxxx.xx for the server. My username can't be resolved. When i use the name of the server mail01.xxxx.xx then it works.
I tested this with outlook 2013 and exchange.xxxx.xx could resolve my mailbox.
So for outlook 2010 i need to use the name of the server where exchange 2013 is installed.
For outlook 2013 i can use the alias exchange.xxxx.xx.
Anyone has any idea ? It's not blocking. We haven't started the migration yet :p

    Hi,
Based on my knowledge, in Exchange 2013 environment, the server name option is filled with the new type"mailbox GUID+@+ the domain portion of the user's primary SMTP address" when we configure the Exchange account in Outlook client.
In your case, I recommned you add the following record in the host file of the computer which installs the Outlook 2010: the host name Exchange.domain.com points to your server IP address .

Outlook 2010 cannot save to archive folders listed. Message says that message was already moved or that user doesn't have permission.

    Hi,
Does this issue occur when you manually archive items in Outlook, do you drag them into the archive folder?
The first thing I wonder is if the .pst file has been corrupted, please run Scanpst.exe to repair the archive .pst file:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/272227/en-us
Please logon your Webmail(owa), check if the emails are available. If the emails have been moved and Outlook Client hasn't synced yet, this issue may occur as well.
We can also create a new .pst file to archive the file, check if the issue persists.
For more information, we can refer to Archive items manually:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-in/outlook-help/archive-items-manually-HA010355564.aspx
When you browse to the archive file in step 5, type in a new .pst file name.
If my understanding is not accurate, please detail your scenario and provide the exact error message.
