  • Outlook 2010 hangs when opening older calendar items

Hi,I have a really odd issue. One user has a bit of a vague issue - where Outlook 2010 (32 bit, on Windows 7 64) freezes up (not responding) when user is trying to open a calendar item he has created himself in a group calendar also created by himself. So, a quick google search finds, besides a lot of advertised non working items, in general tips like "check mailbox size" (User is at 70% of allowed size, where allowed size is a mailbox of 1GB)Or, run outlook in safe mode to see if any add in or plug in causes this. Sadly - in safe mode exactly the same happens - Outlook stops responding. No other user has the same "owner" rights on this calendar, so it`s hard to reproduce. And now for the really odd one - any item listed before June 1st (2015) causes the issue. Any item from June 1 and onwards opens as it should.I have difficulties wading...

    Hi JW_IC,
    Does this issue occur OWA?
If OWA not hangs, it seems an issue on the Outlook client side.
I found that you have done all operations on the Outlook client side and still not worked.
How about following the error message, "To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel",
to check the problem in the Action Center control panel. Please paste the details without sensitive information for the further troubleshooting.
I suggest updating Outlook 2010 to the latest version for test.

  • Outlook 2010 hangs when opening emails from a certain sender

I have a problem when we a receive a notification email from a certain sender.  The email is actually from an internal address within the company.  We receive email notifications when we receive a voice mail on our phone system and that email
is what is causing the problems.  The email we receive is very basic and just has a small amount of text saying "IP Office Voicemail redirected message".  When I try to open the email (or view when the reading pane is enabled) it hang Outlook
for about 20-30 seconds.  This happens with every notification email we receive from that address.  I tried locking up Outlook when it was hanging to see if I could get any error messages.  In Event Viewer I got this:
"The program OUTLOOK.EXE version 14.0.7113.5000 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel."
    Things I have tried:
Clean install (of both Office and Windows)
Removing and recreating the Outlook profile
Setting Outlook to "Read all standard mail in plain text"
    Updating Windows/Office
Setting our voice mail server to send from a different email address
    Opening Outlook in safe mode
We are on a domain with Exchange.  This started happening a couple of months ago.
Any ideas as to what I can try next?
    Thanks.

  • Exchange 2003 + Outlook 2010 hangs if deleted shared mailbox exists into profile

Environment - Exchange 2003 + Outlook 2010 published via Citrix
We recently did the cleanup of shared mailboxes which are no longer needed. However post our activity we found that many users are reporting that their Outlook is hanging for a long time during startup and it continues while working on outlook. Upon investigation
we found that their Outlook profile was having 1 or 2 shared mailboxes listed which were deleted from organization. As soon these shared mailboxes were removed from profile the Outlook started working fine.
Is this know issue of Outlook and if any hotfix available for same, I have already checked the 'download shared folder' option which isn't selected.

  • Outlook 2010 hangs when loading in "processing"

After upgrading from Windows 7 home to ultimate I am having problems with Outlook 2010.  When staring the program hanks up on "processing"
Any idea what I can do to resolve this problem?
    Pheresisman

    Hi,
First, I suggest you try to start Outlook 2010 in safe mode [hold ctrl key while startup] to see if this issue is caused by some add-ins.
If it works fine in this situation, try to disable add-ins.
Click the File menu –> Options link –> Navigate to Add-Ins options.
    Select
Disabled Items in the Manage dropdown and click the
Go button. This would display the following Disabled Items window using which you can see and also
re-enable the disabled add-in. You can select the ones you wish to re-enable and click the Enable button.
Second, ensure Outlook 2010 are not running in compatibility mode,
    Locate C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14 Outlook.exe
    Right-click
    Outlook.exe, and then click Properties.
    On the
Compatibility tab, click to clear the Run this program in compatibility mode for check box.
    Click
OK and try to start Outlook again.
    Hope that helps.

  • Outlook 2010 hangs after applying KB2956203 update

    Hi All,
We have Outlook 2010 with Exchange 2010. After installing the latest Patches for Outlook (KB2956203) we had problems sending outlook forms. The Outlook not responds then it will close.
After uninstalling this patch the Outlook works fine. Had anyone encountered the same problem?
    Thanks

  • Outlook 2010 Hangs at Loading Profile

We just updated our network with all Server 2008 R2 servers, Exchange 2010, and Office 2010 Pro. We have isntalled Office 2010 on all machines and all has been working fine for the last 2 weeks. Over the last 3 days, we now are having some problems with
when Outlook is launched, it hangs on "Loading Profile" and does not go any further. I have tried killing the "Agent" process that this creates as suggested in other forums. I have run repairs, and un-install/re-installs which seems to temporaily fix the problem.
Most the clients are up-to-date with the Office updates. I have also un-installed SP1 on a couple machines which again works for a bit then the next time the user restarts the computer Outlook hangs again.
This is getting extremely frustrating as I have another thread with some other Office problems. Thanks for the help in advance.

I had the same problem.  I tried all the posted solutions without success...new profile, reinstall, reset nav pane, safe mode, killing processes, stopping add-ons, etc.  I found the same solutions repeated ad nauseum on website after website.
Finally after much experimentation I found this solution.
    1.  Export the registry key containing your profiles at HKCU>Software>Microsoft>WindowsNT>CurrentVersion>Windows Messaging Subsystem>Profiles.  This is just a precautionary measure.
    2.  Stop all optional start-up programs from running on boot.
    3.  Kill and uninstall all search programs, such as Google desktop and Copernic.
    4.  Delete the registry key above.
    5.  Create a new profile using the Control Panel>Mail tool.  Include an email address.  I had to do this twice before it would save the new profile...it only works if there are no profiles in the registry.
    6.  Start Outlook in safe mode.
    7.  Manually move your old messages from the old pst file(s) to the new one.  I had 1.5 gigs of mail to move, so it took a while.
    8.  With your messages backed up, delete the old pst file(s).  Move any other old pst files out of the Outlook files folder.  Don't ask me why this worked, but it made the difference.
    9.  Start Outlook with the new profile.  At this point, Outlook started very quickly and without problems.  I hope it works for you.
    10.  Update the programs with the relevant add-ons.  iTunes, McAfee, Sugar Sync, etc. all had add-ons in the Outlook start-up list.  My Sugar Sync add-on was causing problems.
    11.  With Outlook running, reinstall your search program if you had one, using the latest update.  For me it was Copernic that was the problem.  It was set to index Outlook messages, but it was corrupted and had to be reinstalled.
    11.  Use msconfig to selectively reboot.  I did this several times to make sure that no other programs were conflicting with Outlook.  It took forever, and the results were negative, but it seems prudent.
This solution took me many boring and frustrating hours to work out.  In the end, it was an outside program that was the problem.  I hope this helps you.

  • Outlook 2010 hangs when selecting a meeting invite

Sometimes when the users click on a meeting invite from a user from a different company (Full Trust between domains)Outlook shows the
"Searching for this meeting..." message and hangs. According to Microsoft this is just checking the conflicting appointments and this message should disappear after few seconds but it does not. The only way to recover outlook is to
end the outlook.exe task from the task manager. I have tried creating new outlook profile, new ost file or even a different computer but the issue remains. Can't find any solution on the net. Any help will be appreciated.
The email account is configured to use an Exchange server... and the computer is connected to a domain. The email is coming from a company which has full trust with our company's domain.

    Hi,
Does this issue occur on OWA?
If not, I would suggest we use the process monitor to see where does Outlook hung when opening the meeting request.

  • Outlook 2010 not responding, hangs, freezes or stopped working when going from one email to another

    Hi all,
I have an issue with one of my clients running Office Pro Plus 2010 32bit on windows 7 pro with exchange 2010 service pack 3 where they have voicemails coming in as .wav files and have a rule set up to automatically going into a sub-folder call
"voicemails". I have deleted all the voicemails except for 5 for testing purposes (as there was over 800 messages and thought this could of been the culprit). When opening these voicemail emails, outlook doesn't respond for about 1-2 minutes and
then opens the email eventually, then I can open the .wav file. The .wav files are approximately 50kb to 200kb in size. All other attachments seem to open quickly with the rading pane on or off.
    Troubleshooting Steps I have done;
    - Install the latest updates
    - Check to make sure Outlook is not in use by another process
    - Investigate possible issues with add-ins
    - Check to see if your mailbox is oversized
    - Repair your Office programs
    - Repair your Outlook Data files
    - Check to see if your antivirus software is up-to-date or conflicting with Outlook
    - Create a new user profile in Outlook
    - Created a new .OST
    - Perform a Selective Startup to determine if another program is conflicting with Outlook (for advanced user)
    - Create a new Windows user profile (for advanced user)
    - Started in outlook /safe mode
    - Turned off chached mode
    - Checked error logs and receive a Outlook Hang error ID: 10001
Since doing all the above troubleshooting, I have found out the same problems occur within a Terminal Server Session (Server 2009 R2 with Service 1) running Outlook 2010 Professional Plus.
One thing I notice is that when I click on one of the email messages, where is usually says "connected to MS exchange", it is saying "requesting data from exchange".
The above is happening with another user so this is not user specific.
If you need any other info, just let me know.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Logon OWA and check if the voicemails can be played fine, make sure the mails are good.
If you have installed the improper drivers for any devices or hardwares, this kind of issue may occur. Actually some devices which seem to have nothing to do with the issue may also be the culprit, like a printer or some audio devices in this case.
Try restore the system to an earlier date if you have backup.
If you have got the logs, you may post the complete logs here, it may help to determine the cause of the issue.

Thank you very much for your reply. I could access in OWA successfully with a quick response and used this as a workaround. There was not too many logs to go from.
It looks like there was a server that was decommissioned around 6 months ago and just a test thought I would start this up to see if our voicemail server had any relationship with it - once I started this server up, voicemails
were opening quickly will all users. I am not sure if our voicemail  software (Cisco Unity) is pointing to our old server or if has anything to do with DNS entries but will need to dive into this further as we cannot have the old server online for too
    much longer.
If anyone would have an inclining as to what this could be, please let me know.
    Thanks again.

  • Some emails from a particular sender causing Outlook 2010 to hang, task manager shows memory use spikes

Posting this to the Exchange forum because I'm hoping there's a server-side solution.
SOME emails received from an external sender (gmail.com address, not sure the mail client) are causing Outlook 2010 to hang when trying to open the email.  Outlook becomes non-responsive when viewing the email through the preview pane or by double-clicking
the email.  If I open Task Manager I see that the outlook.exe process memory use starts increasing very quickly.  As far as I know the only resolution is to end the task and re-open Outlook (and avoid that email).
I've found several excellent threads on these same symptoms, but there seems to be a variety of causes.  I've tried a bunch of things so far:
     - Tried opening from another system on our network running Outlook 2010, same issue.
     - Tried opening from OWA, opens fine.
     - Tried exporting the email to a PST, then opening from a completely different system outside of our network, but still running Outlook 2010, same issue.
     - Tried exporting the email to a PST then opening from a completely different system outside of our network, running Outlook 2013, email opens fine.
     - Tried setting Outlook to open all emails as PLAIN TEXT, opens fine.
Systems are running the latest Outlook 2010 SP and patches, and running a variety of OS's.  Only common denominator seems to be Outlook 2010.
I was hoping to find a way to convert incoming emails from this sender to open as Plain Text using a Hub Transport rule, but cannot find a way to do it.
Unfortunately I have no control over the sender, so don't know what could be triggering the problem.
Can anyone advise on a possible solution?  Any way to someone convert emails from a particular sender to Plain Text automatically?

Either you inform the sender to configure in sender's outlook to send only to you in plain text please check this
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-001/outlook-help/change-the-message-format-to-html-rich-text-or-plain-text-HA101992313.aspx
    Or
Call a macro in your outlook example below. Please check
    this for details
    Dim msg As MailItem
    For Each msg In myNS.GetDefaultFolder(olFolderInbox).Items
       If msg.Unread = True And _
         msg.SenderName = "Linda Cooper" Then
    Item.BodyFormat = olFormatPlain
       Else
         ' Message doesn't meet criteria.
       End If

  • Outlook 2010 (Exchange) after iCloud installation hangs

    Hi there,
i have Outlook and use it with a Exchange Connection. I installed the iCloud Software for Windows to Sync with Outlook. But after a while Outlook hang at the start. I tried many things Office repair, icloud Software repair and reinstallation nothing changed. But if i deinstall the iCloud Softwar everthing works well.
Wehen i start Outlook with installed iCloud Software in Safemode it runs, but i get no reminder from iCloud Tasks/Events. And i get a messe to put a SmartCard in!??? After i click on Aboard i can Work with Outlook.
    Can somebody help me!?
    Matthias Berndt

Sorry to drag up an old thread, but I have exactly the same problem. And after countless searching on these forums and the internet this is the closest I have seen to my problem.
    My devices:
Home: PC, Windows 7 64-bit. Outlook 2010 with SP1, all updated with MS service packs and hotfixes.
I converted [some time ago] all my home/personal contacts to iCloud. I'm fine with that.
    iPhone4: syncs contacts with iCloud
    iPad2: syncs contacts with iCloud
iTunes shows that contacts are being syncd with iCloud and NOT itunes.
    Everything is syncing just fine.
    BUT....
I would like to see my iCloud contacts, using Outlook 2010 (connecting to Corporate Exchange Server) using my work laptop.
Just to be clear, I don't want to sync my contacts between Exchange and iCloud, I'm quite happy to keep work contacts in Exchange and personal contacts in iCloud. All I want to do is see iCloud - Contacts in Outlook on my work laptop.
Firstly, I made a backup of the contacts in corporate Outlook, then manually deleted them from within Outlook. I did this to avoid the iCloud applet from attempting to copy/merg contacts from Outlook/Exchange into iCloud - potentially causing duplicates.
I then installed the iCloud Control Panel applet successfully, signed in with my Apple ID. All looks good so far.
I then fired up Outlook 2010 on the laptop....which just sits there displaying the splash screen and doesn't load up the main application window.
    Cancelled the process.
    Uninstalled iCloud applet.
Started Outlook again on the laptop, application works fine.
I have read the Apple article on Exchange and iCloud...and I don't believe I am doing anything different to what the expected functionality should be. i.e. it should be possible to run Outlook connecting to Exchange, and have iCloud connectivity too, yet of course both sync to their respective servers.
    Any advice or help?

  • ICloud and Outlook 2010: "Your setup couldn't be started because of an unexpected error". Any ideas?

    Hi,
It looks like iCloud has a problem with Outlook 2010 - when syncing calendars. I repeatedly get the rather vague error message above when I launch the set-up, then the iCloud control panel hangs. If I wait long enough I get "The operation could not be completed".
Anyone else getting this? Seems to work find for contacts, BTW.

    Hi,
This was happening to me with Outlook 2007 and the iCloud Control Panel (CP). I spent days trying to get it sorted out and as usual once it worked I wasn't completely sure what exactly fixed it.
    This is what I did:
    1. Ensured Outlook 2007 was completely up to date with Windows Update.
    2. Unchecked everything in iCloud CP.
    3. Logged out of iCloud CP and when asked I removed all contacts, calendars on my PC.
    4. Uninstalled iCloud CP.
    5. Redownloaded and reinstalled iCloud CP.
    6. Logged into iCloud via iCloud CP.
    7. Checked Mail, Contacts and Calendars.
    8. Didn't get the error message and now I can see all my contacts and calendar stuff from iCloud in Outlook 2007.
    HTH.

  • Sync problem itunes 11.1.5.5 iphone 5 Version 7.1 (11D167) Windows 7 Home premium Outlook 2010 contacts calendar

I'm no longer able to sync contacts, calendar or notes from my computer's Outlook using iTunes.  For a while I was getting a message that the server could not be reached for resolving conflicts - probably got that message every sync for a month or so and just ignored it.  Then I followed online instructions for dealing with that problem and renamed the file conflicts.syncconflict.  The instructions suggested that this would cause creation of a new conflicts.synconflict file, which it did.  But then the sync just seemed to hang on the contacts portion of syncing, even if I left it for a couple of hours.  So I renamed the old file back to conflicts.synconflict.
Now sync doesn't work at all for me if I try to sync any of Outlook contacts, calendar or notes.  If I disable all those, the sync works for things like apps, etc.
    I have already tried:
checking latest version of iPhone software
in iTunes, clicking edit / preferences/ devices / reset sync history (not sure whether this button really does anything or not)
using outlook's scanpst.exe to check for corruption of my main outlook files and most of my ancillary folders
resetting the iPhone (pressing the button upper right and the circular button at the bottom for several seconds)
trying the sync after rebooting the computer and not turning on Outlook in the interim
The present symptom is that the attempted sync just hangs on the syncing contacts stage, and won't complete.  I can cancel the sync, but I can't complete it (unless I uncheck syncing with all the Outlook data).  I'm not getting any error message.
    This is what I'm using:
              iPhone 5
              iTunes version 11.1.5.5
              iPhone software Version 7.1 (11D167)
              Windows 7 Home premium
               Outlook 2010
              Asus G74SX computer
    It is March 27, 2014.
Suggestions welcome.  I'd like to be able to sync my contacts and calendar.

    Hey Steve,
I had this problem as well and found a way how to solve this:
You need to reset your iPhone by pressing the Home button and the Power button simultaneously until the iPhone reboots.
After it rebooted I unlocked the phone, connected it to my PC and ran the iTunes sync without any problems.
Hope this helps with your issue as well.
    Best
    Alex

  • Why does Outlook 2010 become non-responsive and freeze up when printing to Acrobat XI?  What is the fix / or work around?

I just upgraded from Acrobat Reader X to Acrobat Standard XI. Now when I attempt to print e-mails from Outlook 2010, Outlook crashes and becomes "not responding".  I have removed all Adobe software from my machine. Run a repair on Outlook 2010. Reloaded Acrobat XI, and still the MS application hangs up.  I have spent WAY TOO MANY hours screwing around with this. I work at a multi-national company....technical... blah, blah, blah,... $$$, time..., infrastructure...., blah, blah, blah. I have read some about this problem in the forums already... it seems this problem has been in the light.
Stop holding up the show.... society has enough problems.  We're supposed to be the leaders!
What is the fix, or at least, what is the work around.

Not sure how to do this except to reply to myself.
The question I asked is not "answered," but for whatever reason Acrobat XI has settled down and is working normally as before.  Don't have a clue why.  I did not make any further changes in anything.  Thanks to those who read my question and pondered.

  • Outlook 2010 paste from other programs not working.

    Hi,
Win 7 SP1 x86 w latest patches. Win lang. ENG
Outlook 2010 SP1 x86 w latest patches. Office lang. ENG
Regional (date/time and so on) settings EE (Estonia)
I have about 6 users with same conditions.
When I'm trying to copy - paste from other programs like IE9, Word, Excel I'm unable to paste into Outlook message body.
    It just wont paste.
Typically, Outlook shows me "thniking circle" for a millisecond or rarely just hangs.
    There are some exceptions:
    1. I'm able to paste into To: field
    2. I'm able to paste into Subject: field
    3. I'm able to paste even into body if I copied text from Notepad.
    4. I'm able to paste into body when I copied text from another email.
    Additional information:
Outlook default message format "Plain text" (Rich text, HTML - does'nt matter)
What I'v tried so far and results:
    1. Repair Office installation trough "Programs and features" - NO LUCK
    2. Changed default paste behaviour from other programs to "keep text only" - NO LUCK
    3. Used SAFE MODE - this helps, paste SEEMS WORKING correctly. Based on my knowledge, SAFE mode mainly disables Add-ins. OK.
Disabled all Add-ins in normal mode so Outlook shows that "No Active Application Add-Ins" - NO LUCK
So, I'm out of ideas. I think that this problem starts after installing Office 2010 SP1
I don't want to uninstall SP1 because for me it's not a solution (SP1 won't dissapear from the list of updates), ok.. agree, it may be
temporary solution but at the end of the day, there must be something else.
    Any ideas?
