Outlook 2010 install error.

This error is too vague and I am at a loss. I was using Outlook 2007. I tried to install outlook 2010 and at the end of the setup I receive
"outlook 2010 encountered a problem during setup"
That's it, no error number or anything. I even removed Office 2007 and tried just installing outlook 2010 and get the same error.
Help?

Hi,
Regarding this issue, let’s use the Windows Installer Cleanup utility tool to remove all Office applications, then install Office 2010.
How do I uninstall Office 2003, Office 2007 or Office 2010 suites if I cannot uninstall it from Control Panel?

If the issue still persists, please feel free to let me know.

Outlook 2010 gives error when opening a PowerPoint attachment.
    Hi All,
We have several VIP employees that are getting the following error on all PowerPoint documents that come as attachments from Outlook.
I have researched and tried the following steps and verified these settings are already applied.
I did find a work around but not a fix and our security team will NOT allow me to change this setting however if I uncheck the setting all employees can open the outlook attachment.
Any other ideas on a fix for this if I am unable to uncheck Enable Protected View.

    Hi Matthew,
This is a perennial problem, here is a thread which has a deep discussion about this issue:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/07f710a5-a6ca-4256-8f27-6aac41a6b37e/outlook-2010-unable-to-open-word-excel-and-power-point-attachments-from-an-email?forum=outlook
It looks like nobady really find a solution there, the only workaround is what you have found - change the protected view setting in Trust Center. You will lose some security by doing this but it seems to be the only solid solution currently.

  • Outlook 2010 SP2 - Error when editing shared calendar: Post Exchange 2013 CU2 Migration

    Hi there,
I have a strange comportment with Outlook 2010 SP2 and Exchange 2013 CU2 and i really need your help.
Frequently, when an user (who has the good permissions for) want to edit a shared calendar (edit a meeting or add one), he has this error message:
" Cannot display the folder. Your server administrator has limited the number of items you can open simultaneously. Try closing message you have opened or removing attachments and images from unsent messages you are composing "
I see anything in the Exchange server event log but i have each time, an error message in the client event log:
    " Microsoft Office14 Alerts ID 300"
Everything work very well with Outlook 2013.
Many thanks in advance for your assistance, and I am looking forward to reading from you.

    Hi,
According to your description, the issue is related to your Office 2010 client.
And the issue can be resolved by installing the Microsoft Office 2010 Deployment Kit.
Here are the steps you can refer to :
    1. Open a command prompt with administrative permissions.
    2. Browse to the directory that contains the Offvirt.msi.
    3. At the command prompt, run the following command:
    msiexec /i OffVirt.msi [licensing flags]
You must enter a correct licensing flag in the following list to correctly configure the Deployment Kit. Otherwise, functionality may be incorrect.
For more information, you can refer to the following article:

  • Lync 2013 with outlook 2010 meeting error

I have installed lync basic 2013 with outlook 2010. The meeting add in is in place, but I get an error when trying to set up a Lync meeting "unable to identify the calendar owner"
What to do to correct this?

    Hi,
You seem to get the error “Unable to identify the calendar owner. Please contact your support team.”
This is caused if the Online Meeting Add-in for Lync 2010 cannot determine the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) or Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) address of your Microsoft Outlook account. You need to contact your Exchange administrator.
If you mail server does not support online meeting(such as a pop3 server), you can join the meeting as anonymous user through the meeting URL.
You can also create a new profile to check the result:

  • Outlook 2010 sync errors

    Hello.
We have a specific client (among many others) whose Outlook 2010 is working in cached exchange mode. This client while connecting to an intranet exchange infrastructure is getting synchronization errors in the form of:
    80040109-50A-80040109-560
The function cannot be performed because the message has beem changed.
As a first measure we deleted and rebuild his .ost (suspected a .ost corruption) but that didn't help.Any ideas are welcome.

Hello Ethan and thanks for the reply.
We rebuilt a brand new Outlook 2010 profile of the user on his RDS profile and the issue occured again.Things to notice:
    - Running in parallel the RDS profile and the user working on his PC. the issue may happen in one of the enviroments indepedently
    - In Owa mail feed is constant as it should so we assume no server issues
    - Antivirus exclusions (Forefront) client side have already been applied
    - With TCPview (or netstat) we monitored Outlook TCP sessions towards exchange staying alive at the moment of the problem.
    - No firewalls (as we 've been informed) between the clients and the exchange server (native windows server firewall is disabled for testing). No antivirus on the exchange servers
    - Latest suspects are either Outlook 2010 so we upgraded to 2013 or public folders.
Administration of the exchange infrastructure is done by my colleague and I am helping in troubleshooting the issue.

  • New domain, Roaming Profiles, Outlook 2010 gives error 'Your Outlook data file cannot be configured'.

    Hi there,
I have recently setup a new domain, with a new domain controller and new exchange 2013 server.
these are running on a cluster of 2 x hyper-v 2012r2 hosts. All VMs are running server 2012 r2.
although I don't think that has any bearing on my issue.
I have migrated all of my existing user machines to the new domain.
    We use roaming profiles.
When a user logs into their PC for the first time, all is ok.
when a user logs into a different machine (they log off of their first machine and then log into a second machine),
they get the following error when opening outlook.
'Your Outlook data file cannot be configured. C:\Users\%username%.domain\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\[email protected]'
I can manually resolve this on each machine by doing one of the following.
    1. Before the user logs in, I log in as an administrator or browse to the pc from another machine create a folder in users called 'whatevertheuserssusernameis' (please note, I actually put in the user's username, ie OKIRWAN)
when the user then logs in, their profile is created in %username%.domain instead of %username%.
I believe this is the route of the problem, as when we added the new machines to the domain, and they logged in for the first time to their 'usual machine', there was already a folder in users with their username, so when we added to the new domain and logged
in for the first time, it created a new folder called %username%.domain, however when the user logs into a pc they never have logged into before, it creates their profile in %username% but their roaming profile is looking for their OST in C:\Users\%username%.domain\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\[email protected].
    2. My second way around this is to go to control panel and mail and remove and recreate the users outlook profile.
As I have 100 users, who move to various different machines, these manual options are not really viable.
I have tried redirecting the OST file to c:\OST via group policy, this did not resolve the issue.
All users are local admins on their machines.
if I open outlook as administrator then it loads ok and creates the OST file in C:\Users\%username%.domain\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\[email protected].
however if I close outlook and open it again without running as administrator I get the following error.
File access is denied. You do not have the permission required to access the file C:\Users\%username%.domain\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\[email protected]. (even administrators on that PC have full access to that folder).
All users are running outlook 2010.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Kind Regards
    Owen

    Hi,
We can try to set up new profiles for users via creating a PRF file using the Office Customization Tool.

  • Outlook 2010 pro " error "outlook cannot display this view"

    Hi,
When opening my outlook, I do see my inbox + subfolders, but i do not see any mails in the right panel, and I get the error messge "outlook cannot display this view" when clicking the inbox.
Any ideas of how to get the visabilty and function back?
    Thanks
    ~M

Pst file size would not cause this and Outlook 2010 can have huge pst files as long as you use the new Unicode format.
If the problem is a corrupt view, cleanviews will clear it. I'm sure there are other causes besides corrupt views, but I can't think of any at the moment.
Does it work in Safe mode? To open Outlook in Safe mode: Close Outlook then hold Ctrl as you click on the Outlook icon. You'll get a message asking if you want to start in Safe mode. Click Ok.

Please let me know what should I do?
I have set the account as default what should be my next step?

    Hi,
Please try the following points to narrow down the issue:
    1. Please check whether the default Calendar folder is checked when you created the meeting request and sent it out.
    2. Please check whether there is any shared calendar opened in your Outlook and the meeting request is created on behalf of the shared calendar instead of your own calendar.
    3. Create a new Outlook profile and create a test meeting request to have a try.

  • Outlook 2010 IMAP error 0x800cccdd and Timeout

    Dear all, need your help,
Users in branch office reported error popped up in Outlook 2010:
Your IMAP Server closed the connection.
Clicked the detail and the following are shown:
    Timeout

    Error Code: 0x800CCCDD
We have tried replacing user profiles, disable automatic send/receive for IMAP, run scanpst.exe to repair the PST files but none worked.
In our Exchange 2007 server (SP3 RU11), we found warnings in IMAP services:

At end of the IMAP log, I found the following:

    IMAP: 13:52:07 [db] OnNotify: asOld = 5, asNew = 0, ae = 5
I noticed that in the " + IDLE accepted, awaiting DONE command.", successful case will have a [tx] DONE, but not so for those error case.
Any idea how this could happen?  I though it is Outlook to send out the DONE as it is a [tx].
    Please advise.

  • Outlook 2010 SP2 error Office11ShipAssert

    Good Day,
I originally placed this in the Office forum but did not get any help.
So I figured that perhaps I need to put this in the Office support forum. About a week ago after I applied SP2 give or take I started getting the following errors and the error repeats itself over and over again.  I have repaired Office with no
luck.  I can't even find what Office11ShipAssert is so I am not sure what I am looking for. I have tried entering into safe mode which appears to work but when I remove add-on one at a time nothing appears to work.
I am not even sure if Safe mode even works as the results get confusing.
I thought it may have been the VB add-on but as of today that is incorrect.
When I start up outlook after a few a few minutes I get the errors that are below.
I have also renamed my OST file and rebuilt it figuring that perhaps there may be some sort of corruption within the file.
Now I understand that there is an issue with SP2 and 2010 when it comes to calendar errors which appears
not to have been fixed.  I do not know if these would be or are related to those errors but to trouble shoot I have removed all my PST files at this time.
If anybody has any idea what are causing these errors or how to fix it would be greatly appreciated.  I am at the point of uninstalling Office and doing a clean install back to Office
2010 SP1.  As I did not have these errors when I was on that version.
The system is fully patched and I am connected to a exchange 2010 SP2 server.  I do not appear to be having issues just these errors that keep coming back.
    Thank You

forms library. But, please use the Get-PublicFolderStatistics cmdlet to verify that no items under the “EFORMS REGISTRY” folder before. And, if the error still appears, please remove the OST file and then recreate the mail profile
Please run ExBPA against the exchange servers for health/permission check
Notes: If forms library replicas are added to Exchange 2010 servers, 80004005-501-4B9-560
will appear in the sync message, yet it can be safely ignored
    Resources:
“The Organizational Forms Library has been deleted and re-created after the .ost file has synchronized the library” section
in You receive an error message when you try to synchronize your offline folder file if the Organizational Forms Library on your Exchange computer has
been re-created or cannot be located

  • Exchange 2010 install error 1603

Environment: Windows Server 2K8, Exchange 2K10
This is the first exchange server I'm trying to install. I get to copying files in the installer and it dies with exchangeserversetup.msi error code 1603.
I look in the install logs and it says Error in rollback skipped, no system restore sequence number for this installation
I've check the CRL in internet options and that's turned off.
    Any ideas?

So, does anybody know why this happens? . I have the same problem:
    -Windows 2008 R2.
-Exchange 2010 Enterprise 6-month trial , copied to my local drive first, and launched the installation from c:
-The message error is the same.
I tried all of what is mentioned above:
    1- rollup.
2- Copying the installation files to the local disk.
In my case, a file is missing in the installation folder, and it is true, I can't see that file, but I downloaded from Microsoft, just three days ago.

  • Outlook 2010 Problem: error message "Apple.DAV.Appointment" cannot be opened...

When my appointment reminder window openes and I cancle a reminder I get a popup that says:
    Microsoft Outlook
    The form region
"Apple.DAV.Appointment: cannot be opened. The form manifest specifies and add-in that is not installed.
When I dismiss and apointment this error pops up.
I called Apple to see if it had anything to do with their software and they researched it and said not but they did say they had learned it dealt with reocurring appointment.  That is a lot of what is in the calendar.

I just spent the morning fixing this problem on Outlook 2007.  I have no idea why it started,
since I hadn't upgraded any Outlook or Apple software recently.  Maybe it was the latest batch of Windows 7 updates?  The solution was to enable and check both the iTunes and
iCloud add-ins in the Trust Center.  FYI, here's how I arrived at that conclusion:
I tried disabling all add-ins and re-enabling them one by one, but that didn't fix the problem.  I upgraded iTunes, but still no joy. I noticed that neither the iTunes nor iCloud add-ins were checked in Outlook (they hadn't been for months, maybe years).
I tried disabling both but that didn't help.  I tried removing them, but that didn't work, either (and I had to figure out how to add them back in).  Finally, I tried enabling and checking them both. That did it.
FYI, I don't use iCloud to sync my data.  I tried that once and it destroyed my Outlook calendar.

  • "Microsoft Outlook Not Installed" error message

I attempted to sync my calendar to my 80GB iPod classic but there's a problem, it can't seem to acknowledge the existence of Outlook on my computer. I suppose that could be because I don't technically have outlook on my computer. I have windows mail which states itself as the successor to Outlook. If anyone could help me it would be greatly appreciated

Actually, windows mail is the successor to outlook express. I don't believe that the iPods don't use Outlook express since they don't sync mail.
