Outlook 2010 "losing messages"

Outlook 2010 SP2
Exchange 2010 SP2
Client domain joined
AutoArchive disabled (completely via GPO, the option doesn't even exist in Outlook anymore as result)
Outlook view reset
User has email disappearing from inbox in Outlook. but it still exists in OWA.
First instance, 3 weeks of November went missing, this was corrected by deleting OST, then allowing Outlook to recreate. A week later, 2 weeks in December went missing.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Hi,
I was thinking if a filter could be the cause, but you have tried resetting View... How did you reset View? If you just tried VIEW tab -> Reset View, I suggest you run Outlook with the switch "/cleanviews" to deeply clean the views.
I assume you have any 3rd-party add-ins? Please check if there are any suspicious add-ins which may cause this issue, especially these add-ins which may have effect on your Outlook Data File(.ost or .pst file).
Please also run Malicious Software Removal Tool to scan your system, check if there are any malware that may cause this issue:

• Exchange2010/Outlook 2010 text message sync - can this be turned off at a policy level?

It is possible to turn off this feature in the activesync policy on the phone itself, but can this be disabled at a policy level so that any Windows Mobile 6.5 devices cannot sync text messages to the Exchange server or send text messages from Outlook 2010?
We have removed the text message feature from OWA using the set-owavirtualdirectory command, but cannot see a way of removing this feature completely from activesync.  Is this not possible for Windows Mobile devices synching with Outlook 2010?

Hi,
Im not sure if somebody in this forum already provided the answer.. To be able to stop the text message sync with outlook for SAMSUNG S3, you can disble it by following this steps:
1) Go to your phone Settings
2) Select "Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync" under "Accounts"
3) Select "Settings"
4) Select the account you are using in microsoft exchange
5) Scroll down until you reach "Server Settings" then untick "Sync SMS"
Once done, your SMS messages will now never be going to your outlook's inbox.
Hope this helps.

• "Connecting to Printer" in Outlook 2010 sends message window to back.

I have a client experiencing a peculiar issue in Outlook 2010 that only occurs when particular Brother printers are set as their default. A HL-4140CN or a MFC-9460CDN
If within Outlook they open a message window then click on File | Print they get a brief message "Connecting to Printer" then the Main Outlook window comes to the front, obscuring the Email Message Window that displays the print preview and options.
It's possible to switch back and print but it's a nuisance and confusing for some users.
This situation appears to be intermittent. Sometimes the "Connecting to Printer" message does not appear and in this case the peculiar behaviour doesn't appear.
I don't know what changes to require the "Connecting to Printer" message but I do know that it can be removed by changing the default to the third printer in the office, an MFC-9440CN or by switching the Printer driver to a BR-Script version.
Any ideas or suggestions?

Hi,
Did you use the same user account to logon another client computer and check whether still encounter the same
issue? Please refer to following thread and check if can help you.
Outlook
- Email minimises when you go to File > Print
àI do know that
it can be removed by changing the default to the third printer in the office, an MFC-9440CN or by switching the Printer driver to a BR-Script version.
Based on your description, the issue can be solved by switching the printer driver. There seems has issue in
printer driver. Please check if latest printer drivers need to be installed. I suggest that you should install the driver which help to remove
"Connecting to Printer" message, then check if this issue occurred
again.
If anything I misunderstand or any update, please don’t hesitate to let me know.
Hope this helps.

• Outlook 2010 rendering messages incorrectly

My Outlook 2010 is rendering my emails in an encrypted format that I can not read. It always had displayed
these messages fine in the past, but about 5 days ago started delivering them like this. They are coming through an IMAP connection with RackSpace. I did recently install and uninstall Office 2013, but am back to 2010. I'm not sure if that is effecting it.
Rackspace provides a simple web client to view messages and I can see there that the messages are rendering
fine. Wondering if anyone else has come across this problem. I have looked everywhere for a solution, but haven't been able to find anything.
I have provided how the message is rendering below. Anything would be helpful! Thank you!

Hi,
Are you receiving any messages in this garbled text, or only from specific senders?
It looks like your mail message got encrypted. Please check with the sender and see if he/she was encrypting the email message.

Outlook 2010 - 550 error message to several standalone laptops using the IMAP server

These three laptops have been communicating back and forth together for more than 6 months. REceving from these laptops is not a problem only sending has become a problem as of today. Why would outgoing
messaages suddenly produce these error messages?  The only way for me to send any messages out is to go to a my Eudora and send them through gmail.com. Perhaps you would explain what I need to do.
Michael Dodds

Hi,
"Sever error 550" usually happens when you try to use an SMTP server that you do not have permissions to send through. Please try to enable the
SMTP authentication and try again. To do this, click File > Info > Account Settings > Account Settings > Double-click your IMAP account > Click
More Settings button > In the Internet Email Settings
wizard, click on "Outgoing server" tab and tick "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" and select “Use same settings as my incoming mail server”.
Click OK and follow the wizard to finish the change.
For more information about "Server error: 550", please refer:

• Outlook 2010 - Losing image in signature after reboot

Hi,
I have a user that uses Outlook 2010, they have a standard signature and after a reboot they have lost an image within it.
Its a Written signature in the signature to make things worse.
The rest of the content remains, just the one image is missing. I think its a .BWG file. They are hitting save, I went through the same steps.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
When we create a signature in Outlook, it's stored in the following location on your computer:
Windows XP
C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\Microsoft\Signatures
Windows 8, Windows 7 and Windows Vista
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Signatures
Please go to the location and find the user's signature, double click to open it and check if you can see the image there.
Please let me know the result.

• Outlook 2010 Moves message directly to Deleted Items - How can I determine why this has happened?

Has anyone see this before? – using a PHP script to send mail (uses SMTP authentication). For me it works perfect, for my client (who has Outlook 2010) the email goes direct to the Deleted Items folder. I’ve not seen that behaviour before.
I have Outlook 2007 and it seems fine on that.
Email is plain text, from address is in ‘Always allow..’ list – there is a ‘Reply-To’ header which is set to the email of the contact which is different to the ‘From’ and ‘Sender’ headers which are
set to the clients email address. The conversation has not been 'ignored'.
To muddy the water, script is installed on another server and it works fine from there to my client.
Is there anyway of determining how Outlook 2010 recognises what is Junk and what is not?
Any ideas?
Thanks
Adge

I have the same problem - user has Outlook 2010 on Exchange 2007. Mail goes directly into the deleted items folder. After browsing around the net I found 2 different site with the same potential fix. It seems that when migrating a user from Exch 2003 to
2007 (which we did) some of the configs get set incorrectly. The weird thing is we migrated over 2 years ago, and some others are experiencing the same after a long period after the migration. The fix that was suggested is:
Go to your Exch server, open up Exchange Management Shell and type the following:
get-mailboxcalendarsettings "domain/ou/user" | fl
set-mailboxcalendarsettings "doman/ou/user" -automateprocessing: Autoupdate
My user already had Autoupdate set, but this seems to have fixed it for me...

• Adding Skype Icon to Outlook 2010

I want to add a Skype call or chat icon. I va ecreated on the Skype page and grabbed the email code. Do I paste an icon into Outlook and link to the pasted code or what?

I want to add the skype icon/phone number to my outlook 2010 email messages; however, I can only add the picture and not my Skype Phone Number (step 6 below does not work for me).  Can someone provide advice on that?   Thanks.  Interestingly, it automatically occurred in my hotmail account, which links to Outlook.
1. Go to http://www.skype.com/intl/en/tell-a-friend/wizard/
2. select function as "add me to skype".
3. Right click the picture and save it on your computer.
4. Open a "New email" message in Outlook 2010.
5. insert the picture.
6. Right lcik , insert Hyperlink and paste "skype:<your skype ID>?add" (without quote).

• ICloud mail in Outlook 2010

I am using Outlook 2010, and messages using my iCloud mail address do not work.  Where do I go next since I get a message saying "Send test e-mail message:  None of the authentication methods supported by this client are supported by this server".

Can you help me?  I have an iPhone4s and an iPad Air.  Dell PC with Outlook.  The calendar will sync iPhone to iPad, but I cannot seem to get the Outlook on my PC to sync with those mobile devices.  I've tried everything I know to do, all to no avail.
Try going through the troubleshooting steps under "Troubleshooting with Microsoft Windows (Microsoft Outlook)" in this article: iCloud: Troubleshooting iCloud Calendar, especially the part about making sure that the iCloud Outlook add-in is active within Outlook.

• Can't properly Import messages from WLM to Outlook 2010

I have installed windows 7 ultimate (32 bit) edition in my system, also I installed MS Office 2010 Professional Plus.
I used Outlook Express as my email client for last 10 years, and hence I have huge mail storage to import to Windows7. I’ve decided to use Outlook as my email client now on.
I have successfully imported all my OE messages to Windows Live Mail in my Windows7 system, and now I want to import them to Outlook2010. But when I try to import them from Outlook – it can’t see any messages to import. And when I export it from
WLM, most of the (but NOT all) messages exported to Outlook, but when I open the exported messages from Outlook I see the ‘Internet headers’ are blank for all the messages.
I am digging my head for last 1 week to resolve this issue but found no fix, can anyone help me please!
Thanks in advance.
~Sanjoy

You need to export from WLM and yes, the headers will be blank.  If you have an old computer with OE on it, you can export to Outlook then move the pst to the new computer.
Diane, I just purchased Outlook 2010 and have a serious issue with losing the header information when exporting data from
Windows Mail. It seems that Microsoft recently fixed this problem (partially) which I found referenced on a different site. I went to the control panel (I'm using Vista), and ran Windows Update. After updating both the Important and the Optional items, I went
into Outlook 2010 and imported my mail and contacts from Windows Mail. The header information does now import correctly. However, in WM there is a column which shows you from which of your accounts an email arrived. In Outlook it's called "Category". This
information remains lost after the migration, and the entire column is empty (though new emails that are downloaded do get tagged properly). Can you tell me how to re-import my messages without losing this information? Would using your workaround of importing
the files into an earlier version of Outlook solve this problem? If so, which version should I use?

• Either there is no default mail client of the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request-----error Outlook 2010

I've tried EVERYTHING suggested in this link (http://blog.timolthof.com/outlook-no-default-mail-client-error/) and everything google and bing and still this message keeps popping up.  Now when I do a windows search for email, I'm not able to view
the email due to this message.
For the record, I am running W7 Ultimate x64 and connected via Excange Server.  I do have another system that is running Office 2010 with none of these problems so I don't know if it's related to Exchange though the searches I've done don't allude
to that.
What's up?

Hi,
I understand that when you tried to open Outlook 2010 beta on the Windows 7 64-bit computer, you encountered the following error:
"Either there is not default mail client of the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Outlook and
set it as the default mail client."
You have checked the settings under the registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Clients\Mail\Microsoft Outlook
I understand the inconvenience you have encountered and appreciate the time and effort you spent on this issue. Please be assured that I
will try my best to help you.
Now let’s troubleshoot the issue by the suggestions below. Please check the results after each suggestion until the problem is resolved.
Suggestion 1: manually set Outlook 2010 as the default e-mail client on Windows 7:
===================
1.
Click Start.
2.
Type "default programs" in the
Search box.
3.
Click Default Programs under
Programs in the search results.
4.
Now click Set your default programs.
5.
Highlight Microsoft Outlook on the left.
6.
Click Set this program as default.
7.
Click OK.
Suggestion 2: Start the Outlook program in safe mode
==============
1.
Click Start, point to All Programs, and then point to
Microsoft Office.
2.
Press and hold the CTRL key, and then click the Outlook program you want to start.
If the problem does not occur in the safe mode, this issue might be related to some third-party add-ins in the Outlook program, we can try
to disable them. Normally, you could do the following to disable the conflict add-ins in your Outlook program:
Disable add-ins
Click
File menu, click Options >
Add-in, click Go button in the Manage:
Com-in Add.
Check if there are any add-ins,
clear the checkbox to disable them.
Close the Office program and
restart it.
Add one check back each time to the list of Add-In,
restart the Office program, and repeat the above procedure. Once the issue reappears again, we can determine which add-in causes this problem and then disable it.
Suggestion 3: Test the issue with a new Windows user account
==============
We can follow the steps in the articles to create a new user account to test the issue. If the problem does not occur in the new user account, some settings
in the old account are corrupted. We can copy the main user files from the old account to the new account, delete the old account, and then continue using the new account.
For the detailed steps on how to create a new user account and copy data from the old account to the new account, you can refer to the following articles:
For Windows Vista/Windows 7:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/Create-a-user-account
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/Fix-a-corrupted-user-profile
Please take your time to try the suggestions and let me know the results at your earliest convenience. . If anything is unclear or if there
is anything I can do for you, please feel free to let me know.

Hello,
Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)
* On Windows you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* On Mac you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the option key while starting Firefox.
* On Linux you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by quitting Firefox and then going to your Terminal and running: firefox -safe-mode (you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
* Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshooting extensions and themes article for that.
To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.
Thank you.
