Outlook 2010 - mail item move rule between mailboxes

Hi,
I have Outlook 2010 with Exchange 2010 SP1 environment.
I'm having an issue with setting up a move rule to another shared mailbox to which the user has full permission on Outlook.
Whenever I try to set up a rule to move a specific item from a specific user, it throws the below error.
"the attempted operation failed. an object could not be found"
Is it possible to apply rules that move items between two different mailboxes? Also is it possible to apply a server-side rule with cmdlet?
Cheers,
John

Hi John,
I have some tests in my environment using Exchange server 2010 with Outlook 2010. If you create a Inbox rule to redirect messages using OWA, you will have a copy of these messages on your mailbox.
If you create a transport rule to redirect messages that are sent to you, you won't have a copy of these messages on your mailbox.
Hope my clarification is helpful.
Best regards,
Amy Wang

  • Rules not working in Outlook 2010 Sent Items folder (Personal Folder)

I've been trying to automatically categorize and send emails I've written and sent to the archive's Sent Items folder.  However, everytime I create a rule for a particular type of email it doesn't carry it out.  The rule will only work when I manually
    click 'Run this rule now...'.
Here is what my rule looks like:
Apply this rule after the message arrives
    from Byron33
      and sent to 'XXX'
and with 'YYY' in the subject'
assign it to the 'ZZZ' category
and move it to the Sent Items folder (here, 'Sent Items' is in the Archive section)
But it doesn't work.  All my other rules work (for the inbox folder).  Any way in which I can get this rule to function automatically?

    Hi
    Thank you for using
Microsoft Office for IT Professionals Forums.
From your description, I understand that the rule will only work when you manually click 'Run this rule now...'. If there is any misunderstanding,
please feel free to let me know.
Turn off Cached Exchange Mode to test this issue:

On the E-mail tab, click the Exchange account, and then click
    Change.
Under Microsoft Exchange server, clear the Use Cached Exchange Mode check box.
Exit and then restart Microsoft Outlook 2010.

  • Outlook 2010 Mail Tips Could Not Be Retrieved / Out Of Office Doesn't work too.

    Hi,
We have a small set up with 5 pc's and 1 server. All of the workstations are exactly the same.. specs,OS,software etc...
One of the users is currently experiencing "Mail Tips Could Not Be Retrieved" issue.
It shows up right above the SEND button when replying or sending a new e-mail.
Also Out Of Office / Automatic Replies function does not want to work as well. It asks me to try again later cause the server is not responding.
The funny thing is that this is happening only to a single user.
    Here is what I've tried:
    - Tested E-Mail AutoConfiguration - Autodiscovery works fine and points to the right directory.
    - Deleted the profile and recreated it ... didn't work
    -  Added the same mailbox to another computer - IT WORKED
    - Checked all the SSL settings for each virtual folder in IIS and they are all set to IGNORE the certificate.
The other strange thing is that when I try to download the OAB from the affected PC a credential window pops up and asks for the username/password
of the particular mailbox.. Once I enter them the "Mail Tips could not be retrieved" message disappears and Out Of Office is accessible and ready to be used.
Maybe Outlook 2010 setting or registry value ?

This sounds like an authentication issue for the Autodiscover/EWS URLs and your last paragraph basically confirmed it.
Is this PC domain joined and is this user logging on with his domain credentials and not locally to the computer?
Is the user able to access:
    https://autodiscover.domain.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
    or
    https://domain.com/autodicover/autodiscover.xml
An xml-page should be returned with ErrorCode 600 Invalid Request.
Is there a TMG or UAG server involved here?
Also check the proxy settings in Internet Options (if configured/required).

  • Importing Outlook 2010 Mail account settings from one copy of Office 2010, to another copy of Office 2919

I am trying to export my E-mail ACCOUNT settings from one copy of Outlook 2010 so that I can import them in another copy of Office 2010 on a different computer.  Again, BOTH computers have Office 2010 on them.  While I can move the PST file, my
E-mail account information never comes across.  How can I do that without having to enter each account separately.  Also is it normal for the E-mail accounts to show up as DATA FILES rathan than E-MAIL FILES?  I've never come this in the past.
    Thanks.

As JHarris1993 said, this is BOSS! Thank you.
I used this solution to recreate a profile I was using under one Windows 7 account in another account on the same machine. The profile was successfully recreated but I noticed that the email accounts in the profile were still pointing to the data files from
the other account, which is not surprising at all.
Unfortunately no easy way exists for re-pointing email accounts to alternate file locations. I have five different email accounts in this profile (2 IMAP, 2 Outlook Hotmail Connector and one Exchange), and looks like there are solutions and workaround for
each type of account which work with varying degrees of success.
Changing location of pst data file for
    IMAP email account
    Changing
location of ost data file for an Exchange email account
Changing location of ost data file for a Hotmail Connector email account

Have you tried starting Outlook with /cleanviews switch? Press Windows key + R to open the Run command, type outlook /cleanviews and press Enter.

    Hi
I'm using and iPhone 4. Since my ISP changed my Account settings (by remote due to a problem with my new Outlook 2010) I can no longer receive mails, yet I can send them Ok.
I've tried synching plus reboooting also manually configuring my new settings- all to no avail. Each time I check for mail, I get the following error message:
    *'Cannot Get Mail'*
*The mail server "imap.ntlworld.com" is not responding. Verify that you have entered the correct account info into the Mail Settings'* - yet I know I have.
I'd be grateful if someone could shed light on this - thanks

    Hi Kurt
Many thanks. Tried as you suggested but still can't receive mail.
My next thought is directed at anyone, not only you. i.e. if I delete that account, when I next synch my iPone with laptop would I retrieve my Outlook settings that way?
    Cheers!

  • Using new computer, existing mailbox user Outlook 2010 Auto-configuration points to the Mailbox Server rather than CAS Array ?

    People,
I'm having a problem with the current AD user account & mailbox user where they cannot get the Outlook 2010 automatically configured to point into the CAS array ?
This is happening when the existing user get new computer replaced or login to the Terminal Server where their account never set before, it always points to the Mailbox Server instead of the Client Access Server array virtual name.
The work around that I provided is typing the Client Access Array address and then specify Outlook.domain.com to match the Windows NLB name (and Get-ClientAccessArray result).
    Single AD Domain forest
    AD Site DataCenter contains:
    Domain Controllers: PRODDC01-VM, PRODDC02-VM, PRODDC03-VM
    Exchange Server 2010 SP3 - CAS&HT: PRODMAIL01-VM and PRODMAIL01-VM (Configured with WNLB as outlook.domain.com)
Exchange Server 2010 SP3 - Mailbox: PRODMAILBOX01-VM and PRODMAILBOX01-VM (no DAG is set)
Terminal Server (RDSH 2008 R2): PRODTS01-VM ... PRODTS60-VM (when user logged in to new TS, it got the same error).
AD Site HQ contains - This site has no issue:
    Domain Controllers: HQDC01 and HQDC02
Workstations using Outlook 2010 and 2013
AD Site SiteOffice1 contains - This site has problem:
Domain Controllers: none but the majority of the workstations LOGONSERVER is pointing to PRODDC03-VM
Workstations using Outlook 2010 and 2013
All of the Exchange environment here is using Exchange Server 2010 SP3 for all server roles.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Yes, the RPCClientAccessServer should point to the CAS array. What's more, I would like to clarify the following things:
    1. Run the Get-ClientAccessServer | fl AutoDiscoverServiceInternalUri cmdlet to make sure that it displays the correct Uri.
    2. Run the Get-WebServicesVirtualDirectory | fl Identity,*auth*,*URL to ensure that URL for EWS points to the CAS array.
Hope this can be helpful to you.

  • Outlook 2010 multiple item select problem

    Hi,
I have a maddening issue with Outlook 2010.  It has to do with a feature that has always worked 100% issue free in older versions of Outlook.
Outlook is somehow losing its mind where it comes to range selections.  Specifically, there are 2 issues, with steps to reproduce.
    Issue 1:
    step 1) select a message
step 2) scroll down in the inbox, and shift-select a message 30 lines down (note: any number, not just 30, will do)
step 3) right click on the range, and select "Mark as read" (note: any other right-click action will do as well)
note: Upon completion of step 3, the range selection is lost inside of the inbox user interface.
step 4) to regain the view of the selected range, press and hold the shift key and then arrow up then back down
note: Upon completion of step 4, the entire range of 30 messages is shown as selected once more
    Issue 2:
    step 1) select a message
step 2) scroll up in the inbox, and shift-select a message 30 lines above (note: any number, not just 30, will do)
step 3) right click on the range, and select "Mark as read" (note: any other right-click action will do as well)
Upon completion of step 3, the range selection is lost inside of the inbox user interface.
step 4) to regain the view of the selected range, press and hold the shift key and then arrow up then back down
note: Upon completion of step 4, the entire range of 30 messages is NOT shown as selected; rather, only the number of messages that fit in the inbox view that were part of the selection are shown as highlighted.  ie, if only 10 of the 30 fit in the
current view, only the 10 are shown as selected.
This is maddening, as it does not happen every single time.
Workarounds I have tried that did not solve the issue:
    1) Update all BIOS and driver settings to the latest editions
    2) Replace the mouse
    3) Turn off the preview pane
    4) Deleted the existing Outlook profile, and then created a new one
Please advise, this is an infuriating issue, which never occurred with older editions of MS Outlook!

    Hello,
I tried your steps, but I cannot reproduce step 3. The selection didn't lost when I right clicked on the range and selected "Mark as read".
Please try to open Outlook in safe mode to check if the problem persists. To open Outlook in safe mode, press Windows key + R to open the Run command, type
    outlook /safe and press Enter.

  • Outlook 2010 mail not included in control panel setup??

I installed the iCloud 2.1.1 control panel, using Windows 7, selected "mail, calendars, contacts, & tasks" to setup.  A pop-up window stated iCloud was configuring Outlook.  When the outlook setup for iCloud was finished, the message stated iCould was now set up for my calendars, contacts, and tasks.  NOT my mail.  Why would it exclude configuring my @me.com or @icloud.com account from Outlook?  I want to use my icloud mail account through outlook WITHOUT creating a separate data file from the one iCloud created when it configured everything else.  Any ideas?

  • Outlook 2010 Migration From .PST to Online Mailbox server.

    Dear All,
I have a project where the users' default email delivery location has to be moved from local .PST to the online mailbox server.
The cached exchange mode also should be enabled while doing this.
I am aware of how to do this manually, but when it comes to 2000+ users, its a head ache.
Can anyone here please point me in the right direction on how to automate this?

Can't think of a way to automate the Outlook client side of things, but in terms of importing the contents of the users .pst files into their Exchange mailboxes you can automate that using PowerShell, just as long as you can get all the .pst's into one place
and their names are the same as the target mailbox alias.
For Exchange 2007 or 2010 (without sp1) you can use Import-Mailbox
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb629586(v=exchg.80).aspx to do it. Note, you need to do it from a machine with PowerShell, access to the Exchange extensions, admin permissions and a copy of Outlook installed.
    For Exchange 2010 SP1 + you can user New-MailboxImportRequest
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff459261(v=exchg.141).aspx and
http://www.petenetlive.com/KB/Article/0000443.htm to do it. Note you'll need the same pre-reqs as above but not Outlook.

  • Can't move messages between mailboxes

When I move messages, they turn gray in the original folder, and then are not moved. Or maybe some of them are, but most are not. Or they are moved, but then moved back. I thought it might be filters, but am pretty sure all relevant ones turned off. The messages and folders are "on my mac" so imap servers are presumably not involved.

Oh, I just did a bit more searching in the forum here, and found this answer. I tried it and it worked for me:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8994288&#8994288
"Please use Rebuild on the Inbox -- click on Mailbox in the menubar, and choose Rebuild. Be aware that during Rebuild all messages will seem to disappear, but they will come back."
    (Thank you to Ernie.)
I have multiple mailboxes -- I had to click on each mailbox individually for Rebuild to work, and I also did the rebuild on one of my archive folders.

  • How to create a .msg with a reference to a mail item with in the same mailbox.

    Hi,
I want to achieve the following: I want to create a .msg message in a mailbox with some custom text and a reference to a mail item within the same mailbox but resides in a different folder.
Is there a way to create a reference to a individual mail item with the same mailbox?
In other words, I want to create a sort of symbolic link to a specific mail item.
Can this be done with C# and EWS?
    Thanks, Darrell

You can create hyperlinks using the Outlook: URL format eg Outlook :< ENTRYID> in the body of a message that refers to another Item in a Mailbox see

  • Outlook 2010 - SSO to Office 365 Mailbox

    Dear,
Is it possible to do sso from an outlook 2010 client to an office 365 mailbox ?  Now my customer is always prompted for a password.  I'm just wondering if full sso is possible.  Should be the easiest solution ;-).  ADFS is configured
and working for webmail or lync, but not for the outlook client.
As a Citrix admin, I was asked to roam the outlook credentials.  The customer uses Citrix profile mgmt and the profile is deleted from the server after logoff.  Appdata (roaming) is redirected.  What do we need to roam the credentials ?  It's
not working out of the box.  Looks like credentials are not stored in the roaming part of the profile.
I understood from http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/2fc84b45-61a4-4ef8-9906-25632a4a74d3/outlook-2010-doesnt-save-password-exchange?forum=exchangesvrclientslegacy that the credentials are stored in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Credentials,
but strange enough, I only see a file in appdata\roaming\microsoft\credentials...
Best regards / thanks in advance,
