Outlook 2010 slow on Office 365

We have a network with a mix of Outlook 2007, 2010 and 2013 clients.  These were all recently moved from SBS Exchange 2007 to Office 365.
Some but not all Outlook 2010 clients are experiencing slow performance.  Sending a mail can take up to one minute.  With attachments, the sends can take several minutes.  Clicking on a folder can result in Outlook becoming unresponsive
for minutes.  This affects users with large and small OST files.
Outlook 2007 and 2013 users don't seem to be affected.   We have tried creating new profiles and applying MS Updates with no success

Try to collect the process monitor log when this issue occur.
Additionally, some users found that this issue disappeared if they turn off their security programs, you may also have a try.

  • Outlook 2010 - SSO to Office 365 Mailbox

    Dear,
Is it possible to do sso from an outlook 2010 client to an office 365 mailbox ?  Now my customer is always prompted for a password.  I'm just wondering if full sso is possible.  Should be the easiest solution ;-).  ADFS is configured
and working for webmail or lync, but not for the outlook client.
As a Citrix admin, I was asked to roam the outlook credentials.  The customer uses Citrix profile mgmt and the profile is deleted from the server after logoff.  Appdata (roaming) is redirected.  What do we need to roam the credentials ?  It's
not working out of the box.  Looks like credentials are not stored in the roaming part of the profile.
I understood from http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/2fc84b45-61a4-4ef8-9906-25632a4a74d3/outlook-2010-doesnt-save-password-exchange?forum=exchangesvrclientslegacy that the credentials are stored in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Credentials,
but strange enough, I only see a file in appdata\roaming\microsoft\credentials...
Best regards / thanks in advance,

  • Is Outlook 2007 compatible with Office 365?

Is Outlook 2007 compatible with Office 365? The Office 365 will be part of Windows 2012 Essentials.

As of the time I am writing this, outlook 2007 still works (but I can personally attest that the experience isn't great.) By the time you read this, that can change and it may not work anymore. Microsoft only guarantees compatibility wothnoffoce
products in mainstream support. So that is 2010 and 2013 (or 365 Pro Plus equivalents.) 2007 is only in extended support, so MS has no guarantees or obligation to maintain compatibility, and they *specifically* call out 2007 support in their supported client
    documentation.

  • How to open shared calendar in Outlook for Mac 15 (Office 365)?

A colleague in my organisation has created a calendar in a different version of Outlook and shared it with me, but I am unable to access it. What am I missing?
    I have tried:
    Select Calendar
    Click Open shared calendar
Search for the person's name. They appear in the list.
Select and click open. I get a popup saying "Outlook was redirected to the server secure.autodiscover.... to get new settings for your account (email address of person I selected). ..."
Tick "Always use my response for this server" and click "Allow". The same popup appears.
Again I tick "Always use my response for this server" and click "Allow". I get a popup saying "Outlook cannot open the folder. You do not have permission to open this folder. Contact (sharer's name) for permission."
Also, this colleague has triggered a share invitation email.
This contains an XML file that I cannot open with Outlook.

    Hi,
According to your description, I notice that Outlook for Mac for Office 365 cannot open shared calendar.
If I misunderstand your concern, please do not hesitate to let me know.
Which account are you used, Exchange account or Microsoft account?
Would you please login OWA and test to open this shared calendar?
Outlook for Mac cannot open the shared calendar which is a sub-calendar, you have to ask calendar owner share all calendars under the default "Calendar" folder.

  • Outlook 2010 Slow Network detection

    Hi,
Does anyone know the criteria Outlook 2010 uses to decide if it's on a "slow network" in the context of using MAPI or HTTP the Exchange Proxy Setting?
I can find a couple of documents for Outlook 2003 using the reported network adapter speed, and if it's < 1Mbps considering it slow. But I cannot find any documentation for Outlook 2010.
    http://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/outlookanywherefastslow.htm#registry
I have done some testing and Outlook 2010 doesn't seem to use the same criteria.... I'm seeing "Slow Network" settings used when the network adapter is reporting a > 1Mbps link speed.
    Thanks,
    Peter

    Hi,
Based on my knowledge it is a slow network when it's 1Mbps or slower. I haven't found the document for Outlook 2010, but even for the latest Outlook 2013, it is still 1Mbps (128 KB):
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc179067.aspx#section4
We can find the information from the "Managing Outlook behavior for perceived slow connections" section in the article above.
Anyway, we can try to modify this limit by creating the slowbitrate registry key:
    Important
This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the
registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry,
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Back-up-the-registry
    Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\rpc
    Value name: slowbitrate
    Value type: REG_DWORD
The value to enter is the minimal bitrate required to consider a network being fast. Anything below this bitrate would be considered slow.
    Example: 128KB = 1Mbit = 1024 bit
I hope the information is helpful.

  • HT204150 Does iCloud make my Outlook 2010 slow?

Afer I fix iCloud to my PC, my Outlook get slow down. Once I open Outlook, it freeze for a while before I can send or receivee mail. Why?How can I fix it?
My PC current with Win7, the Outlook 2010 is one component of Office 2010 Stardard.
During my my Outlook 2010 freezing, it seemd to upload or synchro something. I am wondering why your iCloud alwalse need to synchro something everytime while openning the Outlook 2010.

    I've been researching something similar.
In essence there is no "sync" at all. Outlook is configured to show its own default calendar, a representation of the iCloud calendar and an initial merge conflicts calendar.
If you put an entry into the Green calendar from Outlook you are changing the iCloud calendar in the cloud and the changes are propagated to iOS devices etc etc linked to the same iCloud account.
The blue (local outlook) calendar only shows up 'cos it's checked in My Calendars to the left.
Nothing you do in iCloud affects the Outlook default blue calendar, but changes made to the iCloud green calendar via Outlook work as you would expect.
So think of "parallel display of Outlook and Cloud calendar" rather than "synchronisation"

  • Outlook 2010 Slow Access to Shared Calendar

We have a small 100 user domain running Exchange server 2010 and outlook 2010 clients.  When an admin
opens a shared calender from within Outlook 2010 it often takes 30 seconds or more to display the calender.. When using OWA the calendar display almost instantly so it's not a server issue.  We have a gigabit network and NO heavy mail or network users
so it appears to be an Outlook client issue.
I have done some research and it appears this was not a problem with prior versions of Outlook client as many other reported this issue after upgrading from prior versions of Exchange-Outlook.
Anyone seen this issue and know if MS fixed it?

    Hi,
Does this issue happen to all shared calendars? If this issue only happen to a certain shared calendar, we may try to delete some unwanted items in the shared calendar and then try opening it again to see the result.
In addition, are you using Outlook with Cached Exchange mode enabled? Do you have the "Download Shared Folders" options enabled? If not, please enable the option and then test the issue again. To enable the option, please go to File > Account
Settings > Account Settings, double click your Exchange account to open the Change Account wizard. Then, click More Settings, switch to Advanced tab and make sure the "Download Shared Folders" option is enabled.
Please let me know the result.

  • Ramifications of assigning a wildcard certificate to the SMTP service (needed for Exchange 2010 Hybrid Configuration - Office 365)

    Hello All:
I am receiving an error when I run the Manage Hybrid Configuration wizard - ERROR:Updating hybrid configuration failed with error 'Subtask NeedsConfiguration execution failed: Configure Recipient Settings. I have opened a SR, but figured I'd try the forums,
too. I have a wildcard certificate from GoDaddy (MS says they support wildcards from GoDaddy) & that cert has only the IIS service applied to it on the CAS. I've read in the Exchange Server Deployment Assistant that it should have the SMTP & IIS services
assigned to it, but my question is - SMTP on the CAS (separate server) or on the Mailbox/Hub Transport (separate server)? And what are the ramifications of assigning the SMTP service to, let's say, the CAS? We have had multiple issues every time the servers
get updated/changed; I do not want to disrupt services further, as the Manage Hybrid Configuration will be done during business hours.
If anyone can provide any assistance/clarification, it would be most appreciated.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
We can enable a Wildcard certificate with SMTP service for Exchange Hybird Deployment. The SMTP service can be assigned to multiple certificates. For some Exchange services such as OWA, Ecp, ActiveSync, Autodiscover service, OOF, it is used with Exchange
certificate with IIS service. And there is usually only one certificate can be assigned with IIS service.
Please just make sure your Wildcard certificate can contain all namespaces which are used for all internal URL and External URL configuration in Exchange services. About how to import an existing wildcard certificate on the Exchange 2010 Hybird servers,
please refer to the Import & Enable Third Party Certificate on Hybrid Servers

  • Outlook 2013 not saving Office 365 Credentials in Roaming Profiles

    Hi,
We have migrated one of our Exchange Mailboxes to our Office 365 Environment, we have had all the relevant DNS entries put in place, so when the user logs on and opens Outlook 2013, the Wizard picks up there Office 365 Mailbox and configures, it
asks you for User Credentials, and you type them in and select remember and then Outlook open fine with all the emails presented,
THE PROBLEM: After this user logs off and logs back on to either the same computer or another computer, and they open Outlook, you are yet again asked for your Credentials again, it remembers the username and not the password, once you enter the
password and click remember password it opens Outlook fine
Looking in Credential Manager, I can see that after selecting Remember Credentials, it is putting an entry in Generic Credentials, however when you log off and on again these disappear, I have added Manual Entries in Credential Manager and these
    are saving!
I have noticed that in %USER%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Credentials when you open Outlook and select remember password, it is adding a system file in here, so I decided to try copy the file to %USER%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Credentials, when I log
off this is writing back to the server, and when I log back on it is downloading, HOWEVER when I open Outlook, it still asks for the password! And when I type it in and select remember, it adds the system file back in %USER%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Credentials,
    and ignores the Roaming one,
So currently I am using a Logoff and Logon Script to copy these Files too and from the relative folders and this works, however it is not ideal
    The Script:
    LOGOFF
    'Test
    xcopy %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Credentials %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Credentials\ /H /Y
    rmdir I:\MSCRM /S /Q
    xcopy %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\MSCRM I:\MSCRM /H /Y /I /E
    LOGON
    xcopy %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Credentials %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Credentials\ /H /Y
    xcopy I:\MSCRM %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\MSCRM /H /Y /I /E
    MY QUESTION:
So I guess my question is how can you get Outlook to look at the %USER%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Credentials instead of the Local one?
    Regards
    Andy

    Hi Andy,
According to your description, I understand that Outlook always ask for password even through you have selected remember password after migrate mailbox to Office 365.
If I misunderstand your concern, please do not hesitate to let me know.
I want to double confirm some points, please help to collect answers for following questions:
    1. Is there still any Exchange server On-premise?
    2. All user or any special account experience this issue?
By default for On-Premise environment, the Outlook client finds AutoDiscover also by using SCP first, if it can’t success. It will turn to use DNS.
Please try to remove SCP by ADSI Edit then try again, I find an thread about remove SCP and a similar thread about your question, for your reference:

  • Slow synchronization office 365

    Dear all,
I am using an office 365 outlook account for business. It always takes 10 - 15 minutes during startup for email synchronization between the Exchange server and my outlook client.
Please advise if there is some fast way to complete the synchronization.
    Thank you.
    Best regards,
    Tom Leong

Office 365 just be very nice to me. What's the size of your data file? Is it large?
Are you using ActiveSync to synchronize this account within a Mobile Device? Sometimes, when you also sync this account on Mobile, synchronization with the Exchange Server mailbox may take longer than expected. please check if you have setup to
download full messages, instead of only download the header.
Or maybe you can try with a new profile and see if issue persists?

  • Outlook 2010 Out of Office Assistant only works when prompted for credentials

    Hello,
I've come across what seems to be an odd issue with Outlook 2010 and Exchange 2010 in an SBS 2011 environment and am hoping someone has seen this issue before.
Basically, we have a few users who can only get their OOF Assistant in Outlook to work if they supply their credentials at Outlook startup. If credentials are saved, on subsequent startups, the OOF assistant
will not work, and receive the "Server is currently unavailable" commonly encountered.
    OOF does work within OWA.
Everything tests out fine as far as I can tell, but am open to providing more information as required.
    Mahalo!

    Hi,
Generally, this issue occurs because the CAS server uses the credentials that you used to log on to Windows instead of the credentials that you used to log on to the mailbox in Outlook 2010. Please check whether the Windows credentials do not match the mailbox
    credentials in your environment.
To resolve this issue, please refer to the following KB:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2596516
If the issue continues, please check whether there are any event logs in local machine and CAS server. You can post it here for further analysis.

  • Outlook 2010 slow(4-5 minutes) to update folders on first open every morning

<p>Recently migrated to Exchange 2013 and now Outlook 2010 clients, when first opened in the morning will not update folders for 4-5 minutes. If, after opening Outlook you close it and then open it again, the folders up and all is fine until they close
outlook at the end of the day. The next morning, same problem. Anyone see this before?</p><p>We deployed Exchange 2013 CU3, then last week updated to SP1. I'm not sure that this issue existed before SP1.</p><p>Another issue is if you
go into account settings and select more setting, you receive a pop up window stating "The action cannot be completed" and if you select OK, then everything is fine and you can see all the settings.
Just wondering if anyone else has seen this.
    Thanks

Yes. Same issue with Outlook 2013 as well. I found the problem to be public folders.
They were not used on Exchange 2007, so once all the mailboxes were migrated to Exchange 2013, I removed Exchange 2007 and then shutdown the old server. The problem was that the Exchange 2013 databases were set to look at the Exchange 2007 Public folder
Store which now does not exist.
I had to remove it with ADSIEdit
    CN=Services -> CN=Microsoft Exchange -> CN=(your organization name) -> CN=Administrative Groups -> CN=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT) -> CN=Databases.
Right-click the mailbox database you want to remove the default public folder database from and choose
    Properties
Scroll down until you find the msExchHomePublicMDB attribute. Highlight it and then click
    Edit
Click the Clear button so that the value changes to “not set”.
Hope this will save someone some time in the future.

I have searched for the answer to this problem but have yet to find one can anyone help?

Is the users default email address for Exchange the same as the users SIP address? I am pretty sure this can cause issues.
