Outlook 2011 for Mac doesn't display incoming messages.  Help!, Outlook 2011 for Mac doesn't display incoming messages.  Help!

I haven't done anything to my MacBook since last week (upgraded to Lion), and on Monday morning it stopped receiving emails to my work account (MS Exchange).  I have no problem sending emails from my work account.  this is very strange.  For clarity, Outlook is working fine for my msn account, and was working fine for my work account after I upgraded to Lion. It just stopped working for receiving (not sending) emails from my work account Monday morning.
Thanks in advance!!!

    Any help would be appreciated...
    I've got a MacBook Pro (OS X 10.7.3), iPhone 4 and iPad 2.
I use Office/Outlook for Mac 2011. The email is fine, but I can't figure out how to get contacts and calendar to sync with iPhone & iPad using iCloud...
Is there a way to use iCloud to sync contacts and calendars across all devices?
Thanks in advance for your help!

There is no way to use iCloud Dav services (contacts and calendars) in Outlook 2011 as Outlook does not support Dav services.
Use a client that supports Dav if you want to use iCloud.

  • Outlook for Mac 2011 doesn't bounce dock icon for new message

Under "Outlook Preferences -> Notifications & Sounds" I have the option selected "Bounce Outlook icon in Dock" for new messages. But the icon doesn't bounce when I get a new email. I'd really like for that to work - is this a known
issue or a local config issue?

    Hi,
Please first note that the option only applies when Outlook is not the active application. In addition, it appears that the icon bounces when you first select the Outlook application to open it. If you want the icon to bounce when new mail arrives
you will need to create a rule for that.
Since this forum is for general questions and feedback related to Outlook for Windows, if above doesn't applies, I'd recommend you post a new question in the forum for Mac for further assistance:

  • Outlook 2011 for Mac Preferences not displaying properly

I have 2 emails set up in my outlook, one of them was a work email for a company I am no longer working for. They have cancelled my email but I am unable to pull up the accounts section of my outlook preferences to remove the account. When I open preferences
and select accounts, it pulls up a pop-up box, but it's positioned at the bottom of the pop-up box and will not allow me to scroll to the top, or expand the size of the box. I have checked for updates and restarted my computer and nothing seems to work. I
have even deleted the email account itself from the inbox area, but nothing is working to get rid of it.
I would love to ignore it, but this leads to another issue...for some reason, about a year ago, Outlook started asking for my passwords for both accounts anytime I toggled over to a different application. Even though I have entered my password in hundreds
of times, it continuously prompts me to put my password in over and over again. This means that if my outlook is open, that pesky yellow O is always bouncing up and down on my screen wanting me to re-enter my password, which i just did 30 seconds previously.
So, ideally i can get both these issues addressed, but for the one that the no longer is a working email it has essentially been holding my mail manager hostage.

  • All of a sudden, when I click on a link in an email (Outlook for the Mac 2011), it doesn't open in Firefox. Firefox widow pulls up, but no new tab. Microsoft says that since it pulls up Firefox, it isn't Outlook's fault.

This has happened many times, in fact, every time I've clicked on a link in an email -- but just since Sunday, I think. Before that, it worked perfectly.

    # Yes, if you go to accounts.firefox.org, sign out, you will now be signed out.
    # Sign back in, and you will be asked to save the password you entered.
    # This will save the password and autocomplete if you have this option turned on.
I am not exactly sure why the menu did not detect the password change or if it was stored incorrectly after you changed it? But after storing the correct password you can manage any duplicate passwords in the password manager.[[Password manager - Remember, delete and change saved passwords in Firefox]]

  • Exporting selected contacts from Outlook 2011 for Mac

I've wanted to easily export a set of selected contacts from Outlook in Microsoft Office for Mac 2011.  I've been through many threads about synching to Address Book and then exporting, but I've found a host of troubles, including duplicate copies of contacts being created.
So, I finally broke down and wrote an AppleScript script to export all of the currently selected contacts from Outlook to a file in either vcf (vcard) or csv (comma separated value) format.  The best use of this script is to:
-- Install this as a script in Microsoft Outlook by saving the script below to Documents>Microsoft User Data>Outlook Script Menu Items
-- Change to your Contacts in Outlook.  Use the Outlook search bar to find the contacts you want to export.  You might search by name, category, company, or anything else that identifies the contacts you want to export.  Or, you might just leave the view showing all contacts.
-- Select the contacts you want to export
    -- Launch the script
The script will have you select between vcard and csv and select a destination file.  This hasn't been optimized for speed, so if you're exporting 100's or 1,000's of contacts, be patient.  And there isn't a progress bar at present, so you have to wait.  It will display an alert when it's complete.
Sorry not to have a download location for you.  You'll just have to copy the script text :-).  Keep in mind there's been some but limited testing.  Read the comments for details.  And enjoy.

--  Unfortunately I've not figured out how to use perl-style generation of

--  Note that email address are a special case as they're a list of objects in

--  Outlook allows a contact to have more than one of each type of email address

--  Another note.  In this version, any embedded "return" or "linefeed" characters
--  found in a property of a contact are converted to a space.  That means that
--  notes, in particular, will be reformated.  That said, this gets arond a problem
--  with embedded carriage returns in address fields that throw off importing

  • Intermittent send failures in Outlook 2011 for MAC

Ever since Verizon changed its POP server settings, I am getting intermittent send failures from MS Outlook for MAC 2011 even though I made the correct port changes and SSL options in Outlook 2011.  Everywhere I look for assistance, including Microsoft, Apple and Verizon, no one has found anything wrong other than Microsoft suspects that Verizon's server doesn't like too many logins and passwords in a set period of time.  Apparently, every email that is sent, sends a User Name and Password to Verizon's server.  MS suspects that the server doesn't like that and rejects messages within a certain time period.  Furthermore, I cannot find any Verizon support for Outlook 2011 for the MAC!  Once again this is "intermittent" such as 4 messages will go and then the 5th will not.  If I leave it in the outbox, it will eventually send.  I'm not sure that MS's theory is fully correct because sometimes I get the send failures on the first message sent.  The error message says, "Outlook cannot find the server etc."  "Error Code: 3170".  All incoming messages come into Outlook 2011 correctly.  Does Verizon support Outlook 2011 for the MAC?

I had the same issue.  After talking to a Verizon FIOS technician from thier techinical support center, he said that no changes are needed for Outlook for Mac.  That means the settings should be:
    Incoming server: incoming.verizon.net
    Incoming port: 110
    Use SSL to connect: UNCHECKED
    Outgoing server: outgoing.verizon.net
    Outgoing port: 25
    Use SSL to connect: UNCHECKED
Hope that helps others not waste an hour searching Verizon's website and trying to navigate their massive phone tree to actually speak to a technician.

  • Setting up icloud in outlook for mac 2011

I have tried to set up my iCloud email account in Outlook for Mac 2011. Incoming works fine. Outgoing doesn't. I have trawled over the support pages for the correct outgoing server info but on using the settings I am no further on. I did see a post by someone who had found the same problem and copied the settings that Mail uses which seems to be different for incoming than Apples recommendations. (but thats not a problem for me!) and unfortunately the outgoing in the Mail settings for my iCloud account simply shows "iCloud" so I am none the wiser!
Can anyone help? Incidentally my icloud account for email works fine on my iPhone and iPad.
    thanks

Please note that Microsofts instructions (in the link you posted) are incorrect, it will never work if you follow those directions.

  • I cannot send email from Outlook 2011 (for Mac). But can send from other applications

I have Outlook 2011 for Mac - I have validated the settings and up until yesterday could send and receive emails using my .mac account.
I can send using icloud and mail (I use Outlook for work purposes) and can send in outlook using my work accounts.
    My settings
    Incoming server - imap.mail.me.com
    Use SSL to connect checked.
    Outgoing server - smtp.mail.me.com
override default port checked (port 587)
    use SSL to connect checked
    authentication - Username and password.
I have rebuilt the database - no effect.
I continue to get the error
    "Mail could not be sent
The server for account "mac" returned the error. 5.7.8. Bad Username or password (Authentication failed..)" Your username/password or security settings may be incorrect. Would you like to try rentering your password"
I have validated my username and password and rentered them both.
I have emptied the outbox and retried but nothing works.
    Thanks for the help.

Update - I now have it working.
am not really sure what exactly fixed it.
I changed a lot of things but my setup now has the following which I think fixed.
    outgoing server  - p06-smtp.mail.me.com
override default port checked - port now 587
on more options button changed it to "use incoming server info".

  • How to view my family share calendar in outlook for mac 2011 (ical)

    Hey All
    Problem:
Want to view my family share calendar in outlook for mac 2011.
Want to have them sync on the fly (push)
Currently running 2 exchange mailboxes which have their own mailboxes and calendars which you can toggle between.
For the PC this is a relatively straight forward task.. You can add an additional calendar to outlook and you are away. Wife's PC can view her own personal exchange calendar and on a separate tab she can view, edit, print etc the family share calendar.
For outlook for Mac, I've tried a few work arounds and none of them actually work, all the Apple documentation available doesn't really cover this.
Any help would be much appreciated
    Cheers

    Hi,
According to your description, I notice that Outlook for Mac for Office 365 cannot open shared calendar.
If I misunderstand your concern, please do not hesitate to let me know.
Which account are you used, Exchange account or Microsoft account?
Would you please login OWA and test to open this shared calendar?
Outlook for Mac cannot open the shared calendar which is a sub-calendar, you have to ask calendar owner share all calendars under the default "Calendar" folder.
More details about it, for your reference:

  • Outlook 2011 for Mac question

Hi everyone. Is this the right place to post something about this program? Someone in the office has a Mac laptop with the newest version fo the OS and the latest version of Office for the Mac. The Mac is connected to our Windows domain network and Outlook setup with our Exchange server was simple and flawless.
However, this user has found that she doesn't have access to her distribution lists inside her Contacts folder. She can and has access to all of her individual contacts but there is zero access to any distribution lists in that folder that she created on her old Windows machine.
Any idea why this is happening and how to fix it? I figure it has to be a simply Outlook configuration issue. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

I have a new G5 intel with a ton of ram and a tb hard drive, and  company ordered outlook 2011 that is, let's just say, problematic. I have emails stuck in my "outbox" and have been to the microsoft "help" site. It didn't. Keeps telling me I'm "out of memory." I tried all of their "solutions" and they weren't the solution.
I've nuked the fonts, rebuilt the database, gone offline and hit "delete" like MS suggests (it tells me that in order to delete the emails, I have to be "online"), reinstalled the whole kit n' kaboodle and still the same outcome... emails stuck in the outbox. There's nothing attached to them. They're not big, just text. I hit reply to each of the emails, hit send and there they sit. Tried logging in via web and deleting the emails from our mail server; they don't exist on the mail server... they're in my very own outlook 2011 program and refuse to be moved, deleted or altered in any way shape or form.
So, telling people to "head on over to Microsoft, they'll fix it" is no answer. officeformac.com just forwards you to the microsoft.com/mac site, and any google links you might find that look like they'd be helpful on officeformac.com are just dead ends with "404-server not found" messages. Never was a fan of Microsoft's corrupt ways and they sure haven't won me over this time, either.
Anybody got any real thoughts on how to outsmart Outlook?

  • Outlook 2011 for Mac Data is corrupt Mail could not be sent Error code: -19943

Why am I constantly getting this error?
    What does this error mean?
    How do I fix this?
This MacBook Air belongs to a VIP in our company. She is under the impression that she has received a lemon, due to the following experiences (verbatim):
Random beeping noise coming from machine. Unexplainable. No obvious pattern.
Machine randomly sounds like an airplane taking off. Fan running constantly.
Unable to view Sent folder in Outlook. Periodically.
Unable to view Sent items. Periodically.
Calendar items/invites/meetings do not display accordingly.
    Unable to accept/decline meeting invitations.
Pinwheel constantly displays. Forced to reboot due to freezing.
Constantly receiving 'Data is corrupt' error message in Outlook.
Constantly receiving 'An internal server error occurred. The operation failed' in Outlook.
I understand the majority of these issues points towards the Office/Outlook application, but why don't any of the troubleshooting methods resolve or alleviate any of the aforementioned symptoms at all?
No one else in my company with this software is receiving this message.
I have rebuilt the database 3 times.
I have reinstalled the software twice.
    All software is up-to-date.
Why doesn't Apple support this software?
Why doesn't Microsoft support this software?
Every forum I search regarding Office for Mac results in a never ending loop of both companies panning the issue off to the other and nobody takes responsibility.
Is there anyone out there willing to take the time to assist me and fully exhaust their knowledge to present some sort of solution towards this issue?
I am fully committed to this discussion and will provide any and all information needed in order to fix the issue.
Why are there other users with the same software who are NOT experiencing the same issues?
As a last resort, I am aware backing-up the profile/account and restoring the OS is an option. What if this plan of action doesn't solve anything? What if the problem persists?
My technical knowledge of Apple/Mac devices is limited, and I would appreciate any advice/suggestions/support on the matter, as this is a high priority issue and I would like to learn from this so as to avoid any similar issues that I may encounter in the future.
Thank you in advance for your help.

    Hello Warren, which Mail App?
    Generally,
SMTP error 554 (Transaction failed) is one of the most vague error codes, but is typically caused by something in the From or To headers that server doesn't like.
In other words, the problem is in the sender or recipient email address.
    It can be caused by
    The sender address isn't valid.
The server thinks this email is spam or server IP address has been blacklisted
A spam trap identifying your machine as a relay, or as a machine not trusted to send mail from your domain.

  • Outlook 2011 for Mac keeps asking me for password

I had been using Windows Live Mail (pop 3) for years until last week; rarely, if ever had any problems downloading my mail.
I just bought a Mac computer and am using Outlook 2011 for Mac; my operating system is Maverick (if that means anything to anyone).
The BT tech guys suggested I set up my mail accounts as IMAP so that all mail read on the server syncs etc. with my Outlook. It all sounded great. However, ever since I installed Outlook for Mail it asks me for my password numerous times during the day (for each of my 5 email accounts)....it usually does this when the computer has been in sleep mode, i.e., when Outlook tries to download mail from the server.
Something else to mention is that whilst the BT tech guys set up my IMAP accounts with:
Incoming Port - 993 (requires SSL)
    Outgoing Port - 465 (requires SSL/TLS)
The BT Mail department (today) told me to revert back to 110 (outgoing)  and 25 (incoming) and to call the incoming and outgoing mail.btinternet.com instead of the smtp.........(I forget the rest of it now) that the tech guys set it up as.
I've since reverted the incoming and outgoing to mail.btinternet.com but haven't changed the numbers to 110 and 25 because the BT Mail guy said "if you are able to send/receive using the 993 and 465...just leave them. And I *am* able to send/receive. The problem is more the password prompt and the message "server not recognised" or whatever it says....I can't recall the exact words.
I phoned Apple and they of course say it is an Outlook problem; not an Apple one, though they did help me delete the mail settings in their keychain thingie so that I could put in my passwords again (all passwords are correct by the way).
Apple did ask, however if my internet service provider are happy for me to have mail set up as IMAP; she epxlained  that it really isn'y *my* choice; it's the server people's choice.
My questions are therefore: 1) who/what is my server? Is it BT? My email addresses are all btinternet.com and I'm also using BT Broadband for both home and my business/office.
I just don't understand why Outlook keeps prompting me for password so my second question is 2) does anyone know why I am being prompted for my password as often as I am? Does this have to do with IMAP settings? with Outlook? or with my Server? or possibly all of the above? and how does one identify the real issue?
    Many thanks!

    Hi Steve,
Thanks for this-yes, eventually, I do send/receive fine, once I've poppedd my passwords in.
I think you are right in that BT seem to be having unique server/login issues...at least this is what I've read elsewhere too.
Iroonically, this AM I opened my new Mac and have *not* been asked for passwords so perhaps the changes I made in the settings yesterday (keychain reset in Mac) and also changing it from smtp.....to mail.btinternet.com solved the issue...who knows? All I know is this last week I've nearly lost the will to live on more than one occasion, from the transition from PC Windows Live Mail to Outlook for Mac.
