  • How could I install outlook with business contact manager 2007 in windows 8.1 system?

Recently I got a new 8 win pc, then I tried to instal Outlook with business contact manager 2007 but I couldn´t
The reason: sql server is not compatible. Would you please let me know how to fix that problem?

    Hi CarlosZC,
Since the issue regards Outlook with business contact manager 2007. I suggestion you post the question in the Outlook forums at
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/outlook?tab=question&status=all&auth=1. It is appropriate and more experts will assist you.
According to your description, we need to verify the version of the SQL Server, usually the warning of compatibility issues applies to all SQL Server Express editions when installing Business Contact Manager (BCM) 2007 on Windows 7/8. The incompatibility
was fixed in SQL Server 2008 Service Pack1 and SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 3 on Windows 7.
There is a similar issue about compatibility message when installing BCM 2007 on Windows 7, you can review the following article.

  • How do I sync with Outlook 2010 business contact manager

My Iphone will default to "contacts" in Outlook 2010.
All my contacts are in "Business Contact Manager", not "contacts".
How do I change to sync with BCM ?

You will need a 3 party software for that, something like this:

  • How to manage a data file using Business Contact Manager database tool

I set up BCM on my desktop and now want to share with the rest of the office. I downloaded BCM database tool on the C drive
of the server and all was well until I tried to move through the wizard. The only option that gets me to a data file is creating a database. However, I receive the error message "Cannot create a new database. The operation has been rolled back. Please
make sure the database service is running". How can I make this work? Truthfully, I don't want to create a new database - I have already set one up; Restore only gives me the database server instance but no choices for the database name list. I have installed
BCM on another co-workers desktop and allowed the database to be shared with her. What more am I missing? Why can't I get the server to see the data file?

    Hi,
If the Database has not been shared, you can't connect to it.
Please also confirm you have been granted permission to access the shared Business Contact Manager database.
You can refer to this article below and there are some factors that you should consider:
Business Contact Manager cannot connect to the shared database

I hope it can be helpful.

  • Business Contact Manager - O365 - Cannot create database

I am trying to install Business Contact Manager into Outlook 2013, but once the install finishes and I fire up Outlook, the BCM setup runs.  Regardless of which options I choose, I wind up with a "Database creation was unsuccessful" message.
I have tried all the tips in other forums, but nothing has changed the behavior.  I have a feeling it has something to do with the SQL Express 2008 it installs as part of the process.  Event Log messages say something about SQL, but nothing definitive.
Has anyone successfully installed BCM on Outlook 2013 (Windows 8.1 pro)?

    Hi,
Please refer to this kb below:
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/942496
Althought the kb is for Outlook 2007, it can still be a reference in your scenario:
This problem may occur if the SQL Server (MSSMLBIZ) service is not running. The SQL Server service is required by Business Contact Manager. This problem occurs because the Windows Welcome screen may prevent the SQL Server service from starting when you first
restart the computer after you install Office Outlook with Business Contact Manager.
    Please try if this helps:
    Exit Outlook.
On Desktop, right-click This PC, and then click Manage.
    Click Services and Applications.
    Double-click Services.
In the services pane, click SQL Server (MSSMLBIZ).
    Click Restart the service.
Exit Computer Management, and then start Outlook.
If the issue persists, what does the event log messages say? If there's not much private, please post the logs in the forum.

  • Office 365 Outlook 2013 and Business Contact Manager Performance issues

I have some slowness with Outlook 365 at times. Most of the times, Outlook will have to restart. I use Business Contact
Manager so I cannot turn off Exchange Cache. Are there some steps I can follow to troubleshoot? The problems started 7 days ago and seem to be getting worse.

    Hi,
The Outlook slowness problem can be caused by many factors, one common cause is some 3rd-party add-ins. We can troubleshoot in Outlook Safe Mode first:
Press Win + R and type “outlook.exe /safe” in the blank box, then press Enter.
If there’s no problem in Safe Mode, disable the suspicious add-ins to verify which add-ins caused this issue.
We can also check the OST file size since large .ost files can also slow the performance of Outlook.
Make sure that offline OST file in Outlook isn't too large. A large OST file may indicate corruption or fragmentation of the file. This can affect performance.
In Outlook, right-click the mailbox in the navigation pane, and then click
    Properties.
Click Folder Size, and then note the Total size value on the
    Local Data tab.
Open the Outlook system folder by opening the following folder path, depending on the operating system:
Windows 7 or Windows Vista: %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook
    Windows XP: %userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
Note the size of the OST file for the user’s Outlook profile. If the OST file is more than 3 to 4 gigabytes (GB) larger than the
Total size value, the file may be corrupted or fragmented. Close Outlook, rename the OST file, and then reopen Outlook to re-create the OST file.
Some other troubleshoot steps can be found in this Microsoft Knowledge Base:

  • Business Contact Manager add-in crashes Outlook when EMET 5.0 is installed

We have Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013, and some of our users have Business Contact Manager (BCM).  Once we installed EMET 5.0 with the Recommended settings, the BCM add-in would crash Outlook.  EMET logs no messages to the Event Log.  The
only entry in the Event Log is Event 1023 from .Net Runtime stating:
.NET Runtime version 2.0.50727.5485 - CLR: Fatal Execution Engine Error (000007FEF798600A) (80131506)
I'm guessing no one else uses BCM and EMET as these forums and the rest of the Internet are devoid of any related posts.  We've tried toggling DEP, SEHOP, ASLR settings based on other posts about problems with other Outlook add-ins and EMET without
any change in behavior.  We have tried removing the OUTLOOK.EXE entry from the list of apps in EMET, but Outlook always loads with a green check mark in the "Running EMET" column.
Are there any settings for Outlook in EMET so that it will work with the BCM add-in?
Assuming #2 is too complicated, is there any way to keep EMET from running Outlook as an EMET-protected process?  As I mentioned above, I've removed it from the App list in EMET but EMET still insists OUTLOOK.EXE is "Running EMET".
Any help would be appreciated.  Otherwise, we're scrapping EMET.
    -Nate

If you remove the Outlook.exe entry from the list of apps and it still shows as protected the changes you have made are not active. I guess that the changes you make when you toggle a protection for the Outlook process are also not active for the same reason.
Did you check if your changes are activated by using the 'EMET_Conf.exe --list' command from an elevated command prompt?
Do you use a Group Policy to configure EMET? In EMET 4.1 you must use 'EMET_Conf.exe --refresh' if you made a change in the policy settings and after the policies are applied. In EMET 5.0 the service takes care of that but maybe there is a delay or the group
policy settings are overruling the settings from the GUI and therefore also the changes you make through the GUI.

  • Business Contact Manager 2013 Issue with drop down menus not working correctly and BCM disappearing.

We upgraded from BCM 2007 to BCM 2013.  Now the BCM disappears from Outlook occasionally and the drop down menus are confused. for instance when accessing the drop down for phone numbers, the user selects company - but the field for TTY/TDD comes up.
Shows fields that don't exist etc.
The client is using Office 2013 Pro Premium from Office 365 Small Business Premium subscription and BCM downloaded from Microsoft website.
Please let me know what the support avenues are for this product.
    Chris Smith

    Hi,
This issue may be caused since the BCM was not installed properly.
Please go to Control Panel -> Programs and Features, find Business Contact Manager for Microsoft Outlook and Uninstall it.
    Then go to
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=36513, download the right version of BCM(32bit or 64bit) and install it.
If issue persists, you may provide the screenshots of the issue, post them to SkyDrive and share it via a link:https://skydrive.live.com/, then we will have a better understanding on the issue.

  • Business Contact Manager Plugin does not install successfully in Outlook 2010 Professional Plus

I work for a company that has provided me with a volume licensed version of Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010. We do a lot of customer tracking so I looked into options to utilize Outlook and found out about the Business Contact Manager plugin. I tried
to download and install it from the public site but was informed that the public version would not work and that I would need to request a compatible version from my company that they could access through a contracted download portal.
I worked with support and they were able to locate the file and install it on my computer. Once I tried to start working with it though I found that there was no Business Contact Manager tab or any of the additional functionality that I needed.
I contacted support to follow up and they again tried several times to install the plug in, but although there was never any error message the installation also never resulted in the business contact manager tab being added or in any reference to it being
added to my list of plugins.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
Go to Control Panel -> Programs and Features, can you see any version of Business Contact Manager installed? If yes, please uninstall it first from there, then delete the registry keys below(if they exist):
    ImportantThis
section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry
before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry,
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Back-up-the-registry
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\microsoft.businesssolutions.ecrm..outlookaddin..connect.1

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\Business Solutions eCRM
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Business Contact Manager
Then we can try performing a clean boot to install Business Contact Manager again. In Clean Boot Mode, it can eliminate the conflict by background programs as much as possible. Check if you can install it properly:

  • Business Contact Manager 2013

Where can I find or locate detailed installation, setup, and or configuration information for Business Contact Manager 2013?
Our existing shared database is located on a workstation but I would like to install and setup BCM Admin Tool onto one of our servers.
We have 25+ users accessing the shared database.

    HI,
I am also having trouble with BCM/Outlook 2013 on Windows 8.
We were previously running BCM/Outlook 2010 with no problems at all.  I then upgraded to OUtlook 2013 and BCM no longer worked.  After many attempts and suggested remedies BCM 2013 is still not working.
The problem I currently have is that when outlook starts BCM is not there because the add-in has been disabled (both BCM for outlook and BCM loader for outlook add ins).  I can go into the addins and enable them and BCM then works, but when I close
and re-open outlook the addins are once again disabled.
Also, when the addins are enabled and BCM is 'working', the BCM icon or title does not appear in the Peek bar (lower left hand side of outlook interface), I only get a folder.
I have tried the Regedit fix - no luck.
I have run the BCM2010-V4C-x86-en-US.exe patch - no luck.
I have installed the BCM 2013 tools on the server (shared db) - no luck
I have uninstalled all office and bcm instances from the machine and reinstalled only office and bcm 2013 (BCM2010-BCMSetup-x86-en-US) - no luck.
Can someone from Microsoft please assist with this issue as I have spent nearly 3 days trying to resolve it.
    Thanks, Joe.

  • Business Contact Manager - migration 2010 to 2013

    Hello,
I recently migrate my BCM 2010 database to 2013 following the link "Business Contact Manager for Microsoft Outlook 2013: Update for Upgrading from Business Contact Manager 2010".
At beginning everything went smoothly and I thought that everything has been migrated successfully.
Unfortunately, when I was checking my data more carefully, I found that some fields are now mixed up. This happened inside accounts and professional contacts forms.
The options and labels for fields email, address and phone are all mixed up.
    Examples:
    - Field email address, when selected "email 3", label changes to "work", this label belongs to address field.
    - Field address, when selected "work", label changes to "email" that belongs to email field.
    - Almost all labels are mixed up :(
Can somebody help my to find a solution for this issue....
    Thank you
    Regards
    Abílio

Hello, we recently also migrated our BCM from 2010 to 2013 with the Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2013 Database Tool and all went also smoothly
except we now have the same problem as Abílio, meaning the fields are mixed up
    Examples:
    - Field email address, when selected "email 3", label changes to "work", this label belongs to address field.
    - Field address, when selected "work", label changes to "email" that belongs to email field.
    - Phone numbers: when selected "work", label changes to "Home"
    - Almost all labels are mixed up :(
Can somebody please help us get this right again?

  • Business Contact Manager for Outlook 365

I have a laptop with 8.1 OS and Office 2013 loaded and running fine. Use Business Contact Manager on my laptop and it works fine.
Can do the all the same on Office 365 except for Business Contact Manager.  It is listed and shows up under Tasks but nothing happens when it is selected.

    Hi,
I think the "Office 365" in the second paragraph should be Outlook 2013 in this customer's post.
Please go to FILE -> Options -> Add-ins, check if BCM is disabled or inactive. Enable it and start Outlook again to check the result.

  • Business Contact Manager 2013 Contactmanagement wrong fields phone, mobile etc.

    Hi,
we have a Problem on some PC's with the Contactview. The Background:
Database: SQL-Server 2008 Express (central Windows Server 2008)
    Outlook: 2013
Contact Manager: Business Contact Manager 2013
    OS: Windows 7 Ultimate
We have started the Import/export-tool from the BCM and selected my old contactsfolder in Outlook. The importprocess runs without any Problems but ..
any PC's from my colleagues shows unter the Contactview wrong fieldnames on mobilephone- or any phoneentries with the same Outlook and OS.
In my case, i can see the right entry unter a contact for mobilephone like +49 12345678. The same contact shows the mobilephone with the fieldname like businessphone or Pager. I don't know why?
EDIT: In my case the contactview looks like the standard outlook contactsview. The View doesn't show any BCM fields like "Linked account" or "linked company". I'm gonna crazy ... BCM tab and navigation-pane are allready loaded in my outlook
profile...but the contactview shows the standard contactsview.
    Any Ideas?
    An answer will oblige.

  • Building an ODBC connection to Outlook Business Contact Manager database.

I am trying to build an ODBC connection to our Outlook Business Contact Manager.
It is SQLEXPRESS.  Do I use the More Data Connections Outlook option?  If so, I tried and it prompts me to install something, which I do not believe I have?  Any suggestions?

If you are using ODBC then you need to create a DSN in the ODBC administrator first. Then in Crystal select ODBC (RDO) under create new connection, this will list all of your ODBC DSNs.
