Outlook 2013: can't select a shared calender as default.

Hello,
Noticed a new quirk with Outlook 2013 in on premise setup with exchange 2013. When I open a shared calendar and de-select my own calendar, then close and re-open Outlook, it doesn't open back to the last calendar selected by itself. Instead it opens that
calendar and my own, side by side. This was not the case in Outlook 2007. Any suggestions? I have seen articles saying to change the default data file under account settings, but this account is not an additional account it is just a shared calendar. I've
also seen suggestions to simply drag the calendar to the top of the list... That doesn't work either. I've tried changing the sharing permissions to editor even with no luck. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I don't think you can make it default, unless it's added as additional account, as you usually need to do this by setting the Data file as the default.

    Hi,
According to your description, I understand that Outlook client cannot connect to Exchange server 2013 while one member of DAG failed.
If I have misunderstand your concern, please do not hesitate to let me know.
I want to double confirm whether all account store in MBX1 experience this issue, users in MBX2 works fine.
Please run following command to double check the database status:
    Get-MailboxDatabase –Status | select Name,Mounted,MountedOnServer
If it works in OWA, the issue may be related to Outlook side. Please run “Test E-mail AutoConfiguration” and “Outlook Connection Status” to get more details, expecial the setting of proxy server, it’s more helpful

  • Outlook 2013 can't connect to Exchange server

Trying to set up Outlook 2013 on my new work laptop. I have the correct Exchange server name  and emaill address, but get the error message "The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this
action." In fact, I'm online and connected to the internet. When I open up a "CMD" window, I can ping the server, so I know my computer can see the server, only Outlook can't. My laptop is running Windows 7, 64-bit. The Office/Outlook 2013 is
64-bit as well.  I've tried with my firewall both on or off, and it doesn't seem to make any difference.
btw - I have essentially the same configuration set up on my iPhone, and can send and receive emails with no issue.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to resolve this issue.

    Hi
As per the information and details provided by you, to connect the Outlook 2013 from Exchange server please follow these steps: -
    1. Open Outlook 2010 or Outlook 2013. If the Outlook startup wizard appears, on the first page of the wizard, click Next. Then, on the Email Accounts page, click Next to set up an email account.
If Outlook startup wizard does not appear, on the Outlook toolbar, click the File tab. Then, just above the Account Settings button, Click Add Account.
    2. On the Auto Account Setup page, Outlook may automatically fill in the Your Name and Emil Address settings based on how you are logged on to your computer. If the setting is filled in and they are correct, click Next to
have Outlook finish setting up your account. If the settings on the Auto Account Setup page are not filled in or are not correct, do the following steps: -
    • If the settings on the Auto Account Setup page doesn't fill in, type the correct settings based on the information that was provided to you by the person who manages your email account.
    • If the name in the Your Name box is not correct, you may need to reset the options on the Auto Account Setup page before you can edit your name. To reset the options, click the option button next to manually configure
server settings or additional server types, and then click the option button next to Email Account.
    3. After you click Next on the Auto Account Setup page, Outlook will search online to find your email server settings. You will be prompted to enter your user name, password during this search. Make sure that you enter your
full email address as your user name.
If Outlook is able to set up your account, you will see the following text: Conguratulations, Your email account is successfully configured and ready to use. Click Finish.
I hope this information will be helpful for you.
    Thanks and regards

  • Outlook 2013 can't connect to Exchange 2013 SP1

    Hello,
I've already asked that question on Exchange 2013, now I'd like to ask it again in regard to Exchange 2013 SP1.
The question i s very easy: suppose I have just installed Exchange 2013 SP1 (in a Win2012 R2 domain)  with three mailboxes (user1, user2, user3). I can successfully run ecp and owa for all users...
...but when I'm starting Outlook 2013 and trying to set up a profile manually, for example, [email protected], Exchange 2013 Sp1 keeps saying "Outlook can't log on...The name cannot be resolved."
In Exchange 2013 this could be fixed by adding the server's ip address to its Hosts file, but I thought it was a bug and it would be corrected later or sooner... Now the same problem with Exchange 2013SP1...
Would anybody please tell me is there anything special I must do to connect to Exchange 2013SP1 via Outlook 2013 (not Outlook 2013SP1 - without MAPI over HTTP)??? If yes what articles can I read about it?
    Thank you in advance,
    Michael

    Hi,
When we automatically configure the account, Autodiscover service will help Outlook find the new type and we don't need to run the command to get the mailbox GUID until we manually configure the profile.
For more information, you can refer to the following article:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124251(v=exchg.150).aspx
"Through the Autodiscover service, Outlook finds a new connection point made up of the user’s mailbox GUID + @ + the domain portion of the user’s primary SMTP address."

  • Outlook 2013: can't open inline attachments

Hi, a colleague of mine has in Inbox an email with inline attachments that I can see in the body of the message:
He said he could open these attachments with Outlook 2007. A few days ago we upgraded to Outlook 2013 and now he can't open them. A security popup shows, because outlook identifies it as an external content unsafe, but if he proceeds Word tries to open and
then crashes. If he tries to open with another application (such as notepad) it says "I cannot find the file C:\temp\cid:a0d0" etc etc
I tried to extract the attachment with a third party software but on this email it doesn't discover any attachment.
I cannot guarantee at 100% that these files could be opened with Outlook 2007, but I believe to my colleague. So, is there a reason why it is no more possible to open these attachments?

    Hi Maurice 7785,
Deal and customize attachment security behavior to access such kind of blocked file format. Usually, Outlook does not allow users to open such unsafe type of attachments. It means they are blocked them by default, so you need to unblock such items using REG
    values.

  • Outlook 2013 can't communicate with Exchange 2013

we're just finishing migration to Exchange 2013 and found some Outlook 2013 clients (migrated from Exchange 2010) can't communicate with Exchange 2013. even if i recreate the Outlook profile.
what worked is to reinstall Office 2013.  just want to get ideas why a reinstall fixed the problem.
same outlook proxy is there in the account settings.

    Hi,
What was the symptom that Outlook couldn't communicate with Exchange 2013? Could you please detail this a bit?
If the Account Settings are completely same before and after the reinstallation, we can say the cause is not on the Exchange side. While I can't guarantee the root cause based
on the provided information. A reinstallation fixes the corrupted or missing components/files in Office, but it's hard to say what has been fixed during the reinstallation.
If you still have some Office 2013 clients that have not been reinstalled, try to run Microsoft Office Configuration Analyzer Tool to quickly identify problematic configurations in Outlook:

  • Outlook 2013 can't load the BCMMS.DLL

    Hi everybody,
I got got some trouble with my Business Contact Manager (BCM) and MS Office 2013 professional package.
In the previous MS Office 2010 version the BCM runs without any trouble. If I using the Outlook 2013 and I opening BCM, the following error message appears: "The folder group cannot be open. The information service BCMMS.DLL cannot be loaded. Check if
the service is already correct installed and configured."
If I tried to installing the KB2793723, the message occured: "from the installation of this package there are no products affected."
i've already de-installed the complete BCM. same effect. The BCM cannot be opened in the MS Office 2013 pro.
What can I do? Has anybody any ideas to fix the problem?
    Many thanks for any hints.
    Tobias

    Hi,
Have you tried totally remove the previous version of BCM and reinstall it again, and then in stall the KB2793723 to check the result?

  • Outlook 2013 can't preview Office files

I run Office 2013 Home and Business. I've just realized that Outlook 2013 refuses to preview Word, Excel and Powerpoint files saying "This file cannot be previewed because of an error with the following previewer"... and so on. After downloading
the file I won't open either.
I finally came across solution allowing to open such downloaded files by modifying (=disabling) all Protected View components in Office apps, which in fact seems ridiculous for me as I used to run Office 2010 and the earlier solution (a bar with warning about
opening a file from Internet) was just fine to live with. What's the purpose of this feature if one has to disable it to have Office apps working?!
Anyway, I'm able to open those files now.
However, modifying the Protected View options in other Office apps hasn't made Outlook preview working - how can I turn it back again?

Does anyone know where these reg entries for file extensions can be found?
    Close outlook, start regedit
Navigate to here HKLM\software\microsoft\windows\current version\preview handlers
Making sure to back up the contents of course
Delete the key for Microsoft Word previewer, etc.
Restart outlook, preview a word doc you should now get a message “you should only preview files from a trustworthy source”

  • Upgraded to Exchange 2010 now outlook 2013 can't connect externally

Outlook 2013 used to connect to my exchange server via our TMG before upgrading to 2010. At first the clients were changed back to NTLM all the time but I fixed that and we now see basic with SSL. Now we get repeated logon.
I have used rpc connectivity analyser and it tells me that my (self issued) certificate doesn't chain properly - but the signing certificate is loaded on the client (by Enterprise CA policy) and looking at the mail server certificate in the certificate manger
reports the certificate to be good and correctly shows the chain (so is this a problem in the anyalyzer or does outlook constrcut its certificate chain using a different code library than say IE?).
Oddly Windows 8.1's mail cient works flawlessly when outlook 2013 goes into loops?
    Any suggestions?
    ICHC

    Hi ICHC,
Just as Ed said, we should create new rule on TMG during the upgrading.

  • Outlook 2013 Can't Receive & Send Email

I am using Oulook 2013 and connected with Office365. Recently I can'c connect the Outlook with office 365 server.  The problem  is
LAN Setting Proxy Server.  I can't changing the setting to
Automatic Detect Setting.  After changed LAN Setting and restart, the setting back again.
My step in this trouble is :
In Iternet Expoler 11,  Menu TOOLS ==> Internet Setting  ==> tab CONNECTION ==> LAN Setting ==> Use Automatic Detect Setting.  After Check this box, the laptop restart, but back again to Use Proxy Server Chek Box.

    Hi,
Please open “Regedit” and navigate to the following Location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings
    set ProxySettingsPerUser = 1
If the issue persists, please manually set the following through registry editing:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\
    "MigrateProxy"=dword:00000001
1 for enable 0 for disable
    "ProxyEnable"=dword:00000000
1 for enable 0 for disable
    "ProxyHttp1.1"=dword:00000001
1 for enable 0 for disable Might also be "ProxyHttp1_1" on some machines
"ProxyServer"=""        This is blank (if there's a value Delete it)
if you are actually using a proxy server, the format is IPaddress:port
Then restart IE and check whether the issue persists.

  • Can I view a shared calender on iphone?

    hi,
I use entourage 2004 with an exchange server. besides my own calendar I have a shared calendar, that I use with two colleagues.
in entourage everything works as expected, on my iphone I can see my own calendar, but I can't see on my iphone the shared calendar.
is there a workaround for this problem or is this a feature currently not implemented from microsoft or apple?
    thx,
    regards,
    ferdinand

We use Add2Exchange by DidItBetter which will allow you to set up a sync at the Exchange server of your shared folder to a separate calendar folder in your own Exchange account. This second folder CAN be viewed on the iPhone. The sync can either be one-way (view-only) or two way, which would allow you to make changes on the iPhone and sync back to the original on Exchange.
It isn't the real thing but it works.

  • Outlook 2013 Can't share contacts with a user

I can generate the sharing invitation email. When opened on the recipient's side it says," This sharing message not valid.   All action buttons have been disabled."

    Microsoft Exchange Contacts
I have been able to share these contacts successfully with other users.
I have deleted and recreated the recipient's profile.
Also, on the senders side, even though I have set all permissions to publisher, it shows the message rights going out as reviewer. Don't know if that helps.
    Any help is appreciated.

    Hello,
In order to understand the issue more deeply, I would like to clarify the following questions:
    1. Is the recipient who has the problem an external user?
    2. Does the issue continue if we share contacts from a different sender to the same recipient?
    3. Is there any info in the application log in Event Viewer if we reproduce this issue?
Meanwhile, we may try to logon to OWA and then open the message from there to see if it will generate any error message.
Please let me know the result.

  • Outlook 2013 Can't connect to Exchange or ping Exchange server.....Very Weird!!!!

The CEO of one of our clients has 2 workstations we'll call them Old and New Dells.
He'd RDP into his new Dell and Outlook will not connect to Exchange and eventually stops responding. His old Dell work just fine.
We restarted the new Dell and the problem persists. I tried pinging the Exchange server and don't get a response. I ping the other servers in the network and I get responses from all of them. On the new Dell I tried going OWA and the website failed to load.
The old Dell has no such issues. Not sure what's going on and could use some guidance. I tried disabling the firewall and that didn't work. It looks like it's only affecting his new Dell, I have not heard of any other users reporting problems. Any ideas?

    Hi,
Since you can't ping the Exchange server, it's more likely a server side issue. This forum is for general questions and feedback related to Office client side issues, it's better to post your question to the Exchange server forum to get further assistance:

  • How can I create a shared calender. (not a public calender or or room resource)

    Hello all!
I would like to create a calendar in exchange that will be used by 5 employees and then only.
So far I crated a security group and added the users to it. I don't want to create '
Calendar in the Public Folders sections because we are moving away from Public Folders.
I also don't want to create it as a room mailbox either, because there is no
physical room associated with it. I just want these users to have read / write access to it.
    Thanks in advance!
    Phillip
    Phil Balderos

I would highly suggest creating it as a room calendar, but only to allow these people access to it (as delegates). If you wish to allow conflicting "meetings", you want to AllowConflicts.  And to allow the entire meeting to be added, remove
all the ticks on the Resource Information properties page. To do this all at once, after you've created your new room mailbox, run the following single command:
    Set-CalendarProcessing -Identity <new "room mailbox" alias> -AllowConflicts $true -ResourceDelegates <comma delimited list of delegate aliases> -OrganizerInfo $false -RemovePrivateProperty $false -AddOrganizerToSubject $false -DeleteNonCalendarItems
    $false -DeleteSubject $false -DeleteComments $false -DeleteAttachments $false -AllBookInPolicy $false -BookInPolicy <same comma delimited list of delegates>
Once you have done this, you will need to change the default permissions on the calendar.  To do this, run the following command:
Set-MailboxFolderPermission <new "room mailbox" alias>:\Calendar -User Default -AccessRights None
After this, only the people you have listed as delegates will be able to see anything on the calendar, and only they will be able to book the calendar.

  • Can you Sync iPhone 5 with Outlook 2013

Can you sync iPhone 5 with Outlook 2013? Everything mail, contacts and calender.

    Hey Mark
    I'm Michael and I work for connex.io.
We were also constantly having problems with our address books, so we decided to build our own solution. connex.io is a service that syncs two-ways between all of your devices and services. It also de-duplicates, cleans completes and automatically updates your address books on all of those devices. So whenever you make a change on any of them, it automatically gets changed everywhere. So you only have to connect your address books once, and you will have your contacts always with you. No need to connect your device to your computer or sync manually.
If you want to check it out: www.connex.io or you can send me an e-mail if you would like some more info: [email protected]
I hope this helps you out.
