Outlook 2013 display black background in datenavigator plane

Since a few days we has an outlook 2013 issue in the datenavigator. Outlook display a black background. Has anyone an idea how we can resolve these issue? Until my account is verified I don't can insert an image...
Has anyone an idea how we can resolve these issue? We use Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit, and Office 2013 with the latest Patches. All User in this VDI Infrastructure are affected from this issue.

Hi,
Do you mean this pane below?
In Outlook 2013, the display issue sometimes may be caused by the following setting:
FILE -> Options -> Advanced -> Display -> Disable hardware graphics acceleration. Check it to disable the acceleration and see if this can fix the issue.
I also suggest you start Outlook in Safe Mode to determine whether it's caused by 3rd-party add-ins:
Press Win + R, type "outlook.exe /safe" in the blank box, press Enter.
If there is no problem in Safe Mode, please disable suspicious add-ins to verify which one caused the issue.
If the issue still exists, please make sure the video driver has been updated to the latest.

  • External Displays Black Background

I work with two external displays and yesterday I unplugged my MBP to go to a meeting. When I returned and plugged my monitors back in both their backgrounds were black. They work fine and I can drag applications into them and be displayed but I can't shift the black backgrounds.
If I open system preferences it launches fine and if I select Desktop & Screensaver the panes launch in all three monitors and display their current background. If I change the background it changes in the preferences pane but not the actual display. If I mirror all monitors it displays fine on all three. The only inconsistency I've noted is that when adjusting backgrounds the pane on the right hand display adjusts the background in the central (primary) monitor. This right hand display is also the actual laptop with the two external display positioned to the left.
Obviously not a critical issue but I would love to get to the bottom of it.

    Hi rossmatt06,
If you are having intermittent issues with the external displays connected to your MacBook Pro, you may find the following article helpful. In particular, if at all possible I would test with different adapters to try to rule out an incompatibility.

    Hi,
A workaround is to edit the signature in Word and paste it into Outlook Signature, or simply save the whole signature as an image and save it to Outlook Signature.
For html method, I have no clue so far.

  • Outlook 2013 displaying "Upgrade in Progress" problem. Possible Patching issue?

Some of our Outlook 2013 clients have been displaying "upgrade in progress" It was doing this for hours.  I could no longer get new mails while this was happening.  It all started after we had patches installed.  Since we are using
this new system for patch installation I think it could have been a patch that would have caused this.  It could be any number of factors but the new patch management system we have could have installed a patch we normally do not have.
    Some factors to consider:
1.) I had Outlook 2010 on my computer as well.  I uninstalled this and it did not fix.
2.) Was running Outlook 2013 for months with no issue.
3.) We use Office 365 for our corporate email.
4.) Altiris (Symantec Management Console) is being used to patch our machines and it started after patches were installed.
Control Panel > Program and Features > Microsoft Office > Change > Online Repair. fixed the problem.
I was hoping someone maybe to help explain how this could have happened.
Since the computers having this problem are in our test environment and we have not yet deployed Altiris patching solution for the rest of the company yet is a relief but we would like to know if anyone else may have had a problem with this after a certain
patch that maybe they can identify.
    Thank you!

    Hi,
Did the patches you installed include some update for other version of Office?
Last time I see this issue is when two versions of Outlook (Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013) are installed on one computer. Please check if the clients with this problem are installed two versions of Outlook. Although we can have two versions of
Outlook on the same machine, only one version of Outlook can run at a time. Moreover, when we install Outlook 2013 first and then Outlook 2010, it may cause some unwanted issues. The method to fix such issue is to repair Office 2013.
So I guess there are some updates for Outlook 2010 in the patches which caused the conflict of two versions of Outlook.

    HI All,
Outlook 2013 displays connected message but when compose and send a mail, the message hangs for more than an hour. Yes if I restart the outlook, the message is sent.  Otherwise the message will lag for hours. Even I am not able to receive it.
The problem is not faced by OWA. Outlook Web App works perfectly. But Microsoft Outlook 2013 not working perfectly. Folks I need help to close the case with customer.
    Regards,
    AbuYasir

    Hi AbuYasir,
From your description, OWA works well, the issue is related to Outlook side. In your case, I recommend you use Outlook safe mode to determine whether the issue is related to add-ins. If the issue persists, please create a new profile to check the result.
Besides, make sure that you install the latest Outlook 2013 Service Pack.

  • "From" presence not displaying in Outlook 2013

When running the Lync 2013 client, the presence indicator of the "From" or sender does not display in Outlook 2013.  The cc, bcc & to fields all display presence properly.
When I close the Lync 2013 client and the launch the Lync 2010 client, the sender's or "From" presence displays properly.
We are currently running Lync 2010 servers in our environment.
Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this issue?

I have certainly come across this behaviour with outlook 2013 against Exchange 2007.
    How to repro the Issue?
Open an email in Outlook 2013 connected to Exchange
2007 in cached Mode. Sender of the email has empty personcard.
With Outlook 2013, users are not able to see GAL data for the
    sender of emails,
Work around seem to be Using online mode instead of cached mode.
There is a outlook fix planned for this issue however unsure on the Release schedule
Hi Prasanth.  It's now the end of May.  Outlook 2013 went RTM about six months ago and GA about four months ago and this issue is still not fixed.  Are Microsoft still working on a fix or have they given up on it and turned their back on their
    users ?
I just installed Office 2013 + all MS updates and am very disappointed as Outlook 2013 is functionally inferior to 2010 because of this for us.  I work for a large organisation and this would hold back Office 2013 rollout.

  • My lock screen just shows a black background and a User Name/Password dialog after opening the screen from sleep. How do I get it back to where it blurs my desktop image with the dialog and my account image displayed?

I'm not sure when it began, but now my Macbook Air only shows a black background and a User Name and Password dialog box when I wake it from sleep. It used to show my desktop background blurred with my user name and icon displayed with only a text field for entering my password. I'm currently using Yosemite (OS X 10.10.1) and all updates have been done. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I know this isn't a real problem, just an annoyance since I couldn't find how to change it back in the System Preferences.

I just have to point out that after looking at a related post (https://discussions.apple.com/message/22661092#22661092), it brought to memory that my issue most certainly began happening after I added some DoD certificates to the keychain. This obviously has something to do with it, but it still leaves me wondering what actually causes this to happen. :/

  • Outlook 2013: Your Automatic Reply Settings Cannot Be Displayed Because The Server Is Unavailable

When I configure the Outlook profile manually then receive warning "Your Automatic Reply Settings Cannot Be Displayed Because The Server Is Unavailable" when clicking "Automatic Replies (Out of Office)".
However if I use Autodiscover to configure the Outlook profile the above does not occur and "Automatic Replies (Out of Office)" works fine.
    Client: Outlook 2013 Click-to-Run version 15.0.4551.1011 on Windows 7 Pro SP1.
    Server: Exchange 2007 SP3 on Windows SBS 2008 SP2.

    Hi,
First of all, please make sure you have installed this Outlook 2013 hotfix package (December 10, 2013):
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2825652/en-us
    It may fix the issue.
If the hotfix doesn't help, please note, this problem can occur after your primary SMTP address changes. The problem occurs because your previous primary SMTP address is cached in the Windows registry under your Outlook profile and this information does
not get refreshed for 24-48 hours after the SMTP address change.
So please make sure you have configured smtp address correctly, or, we can find some workarounds from the link below:

  • Exchange 2007 / Outlook 2013 "Your Automatic Reply Settings Cannot Be Displayed Because The Server Is Unavailable"

One of our users is having problems setting replies from Outlook on his local PC.  This is an SBS 2008 Server with Exchange 2007.  The client PC is running Windows 8 with Outlook 2013.  This issue doesn't seem to affect other users but this
is the only client with Outlook 2013.
When trying to set an automatic reply from within Outlook 2013 we get the "Your automatic reply settings cannot be displayed because the server is unavailable".  Outlook seems to be connecting and working fine so connection to the server does
    exist.
Trying this same operation from owa works without issue.  Please let me know what we need to do to find a solution.
    Thanks so much!

If you install a fresh OS and O2K13 unpatched ,the IMAP works fine.
Fully patched O2K10 works fine too.
It worked for my customer until November patch Tuesday broke the IMAP sync.
    Consultant opened case.
    Response from Microsoft:
This is with regards to the issue faced by you due to regression         caused by November security update. This is further to inform         you
that fix is out and below is the download links for 32 bit         and 64 bit of the office suites. You need to apply all 3 hotfix.         The crash issue and IMAP issue would get resolved
immediately         while the issue related to Free / Busy and OOF not getting set         would take 24-36 hours to start working once the patch is
    applied.

  • Outlook 2013 with SSRS charts in MHTML displays wrong image in email

    Hi,
I've posted this question already to the SQL Server group and the SQL Team confirms this is potentially an issue with Outlook 2013 and image cache changes between 2010 and 2013.  Please see the more detailed post here for more information: https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/e34516c5-53cd-4792-bc6d-4cb6e41e63cf/ssrs-2012-with-mthml-subscriptions-graphs-and-outlook-cache-issues?forum=sqlreportingservices
In short, when changing between emails that display charts from SSRS distributed via MHTML, Outlook 2013 will display the wrong graph from its image cache.  This issue does NOT happen when opening the email in a browser by using the "View in Browser"
option from the Information ribbon in the email.
The issue began after upgrading from Outlook 2010 to 2013 so it would appear that the image cache algorithm has changed.  We need a resolution to stop this from happening that does not include turning off cached exchange mode.  I've tried changes
in the Trust center by turning off the viewers but that doesn't fix anything.
We are using Office 365 and Outlook 2013 x64 SP1.
Has anyone else experienced this or found a workaround for the issue?  This is what it looks like when clicking between emails and then opening in the browser.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

Outlook uses Word as an email editor. That's why you may see the difference between the browser and Outlook inspectors. See the following series of articles for more information:

  • This item cannot be displayed in the Reading Pane. Open the item to read its contents Outlook 2013

One of Outlook 2013 of Office Home and Business in Windows 7 Pro 64bit who is connecting to a local Exchange 2010 server is having the following error:
This item cannot be displayed in the Reading Pane. Open the item to read its contents.
When launching Outlook, it seems work fine. If user click other folders and click Inbox again. The error comes out. It only happens on Inbox folder.
I have tried the followings with no luck.
    1. Rebuilt new Outlook profile.
    2. Rebuilt new Windows profile + Outlook profile.
    3. Disabled all add-ins.
There are 2 ways I can make it work.
    1. I disabled "Cache Mode", then it starts working well.
    2. Start Outlook with outlook.com /safe.
So the question is why in Cache mode, Outlook 2013 cannot display the item in reading pane.
    Any hint will be appreciated.
    CliffZ

    CliffZ,
One hint: Do an offline virus scan on the affected computer:
    1. Check if your computer has a 32- or a 64-bit system. Right-click on Computer icon, choose Properties. System type reveals the bitness.
    2. Download the appropriate virus scanning version from http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/what-is-windows-defender-offline
    Note: If you're on Windows 8.1: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/what-is-windows-defender-offline-beta
    3. Insert a USB stick with nothing important on. Observe the drive letter (F:, G: etc ...) assigned to it.
    4. Start the downloaded program and follow the instructions. Note: Choose the correct drive letter from 3 above.
    5. Restart your computer so it will boot from the USB stick. Depending on computer brand you can often press F12 to get a boot menu.
Sometimes you have to enter BIOS to tell the computer to boot from USB if present.
The quick scan starts. Abort it and select Full Scan.
    Let it run overnight.

The FolderSync command works well, but the initial Sync request seems to be ignored by Outlook, as it keeps sending it over and over. Here is the initial FolderSync response:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>

Here is the initial Sync response:

As you can see, there are 2 mails, 1 event and 1 contact.
Can anyone tell me what could be wrong in our response which could lead Outlook 2013 to reject it?
    Thanks,

I enabled logging in Outlook 2010 and here is a the failure trying to synchronize one single mail:

  • NVIDIA Optimus Display Driver for Windows 7 (64 Bit) interfering with Microsoft Outlook 2013

    Lenovo Community
Can't explain it nor do I understand it but it appears that the latest NVIDIA Optimus Display Drivers (Version 9.18.13.1270 / 8.15.10.2725, dated 05 Jan 2014) is interfering with Microsoft Outlook 2013. For a week I have been working with Microsoft Technical and Lenovo's Premium Support to no avail. I have reformatted my hard drive 4 times and uninstall and reinstalled Office 2013 Pro more time than I can to remember. The issue stared last Tuesday (18 Mar 2014) when I uploaded new drivers from Lenovo and Microsoft. Outlook would not execute (the initial Outlook dialog would just say processing ....) For four day's Microsoft, Lenovo, and I trouble shot everything under the sun. What was odd was whenever Microsoft or Lenovo technicians took control of my computer Outlook worked fine, and when I stated this to the technicians they thought I was nuts, but once I had control the problem returned. Finally frustrated to the hill I once again reformatted my hard drive but this time installed the Lenovo updates and software one at a time creating numerous restore points along the way. When I updated the new NVIDIA drivers the problem resurfaced.  When I would go into the device manager and uninstall the NVIDIA driver’s outlook once again worked fine.  I finally was able to reinstall (through my restore points) the previous version of drivers and Outlook is working fine.  Is there something to this. ??????
    Jeff

I always avoid Optimus, it's historically been way too buggy and very little performance bump over HD4000/4600.  I either opt for Quadro machines or just run Intel integrated.  That being said, it's a blessing in disguise for you since Outlook is hideos.  Consider something else, so many better options exist.
