Outlook 2013/Exchange 2010 Free/Busy access issues.

Good Day Everyone,
I am running a Win 2008 R2 environment with Win7 users, using Exchange 2010 and Outlook 2013. Last week my users started experiencing issues with being able to view Free/Busy in the Calendar for any other user. I have checked past issues with this with patches
KB 2837618 and KB 2837643. Neither patch is showing as installed and I have tried a nummber of the suggested fixes offered for that issue to no avail. OWA seems to be working just fine.
Our Outlook version is: 15.0.4605.1003
I need a fix for Outlook users and since I havve 140 users, individual fixes are a not realistic option.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Please test if Out of Office feature works well in Outlook. If Out of Office doesn't work either, it should be Autodiscover related.
Once Autodiscover has not been configured properly, the Free/Busy information may not display correctly. If you are also seeing issues with Out of Office assistant, we may assume that you haven’t correctly setup Autodiscover, since these two symtoms are
common when Autodiscover is not configured correctly.
To verify that, please test Outlook Autodiscover Connectivity:

We can also learn Configure Exchange Services for the Autodiscover Service from:

  • Exchange 2010 Free/Busy Federation with vendor's Office 365 tenant

    Here the situation,
    ORG A
    ====
Exchange 2010 SP3 On-premise. No externally accessible CAS available/published (we are very secure and require VPN for Outlook/OWA from home/outside network)
    ORG B
    ====
    Office 365
    ASK
    ===
ORG B is a vendor for ORG A and we would like to have federated free/busy sharing between the two organizations. I have read the steps about setting up a federation trust, configuring org relationships both ways, configuring autodiscover on our end.
    My specific questions are,
    1. Currently we don't have any externally published CAS servers. My assumption is we need atleast one (and probably more for fault tolerance) for federated free/busy sharing correct? We obviously don't want to place this in the DMZ/externally...so what are
the recommended configuration? Publish the CAS externally? Any other more secure recommendations? We don't have TMG or any other Microsoft solution for that purpose...are there any other options? We use Cisco IronPorts for inbound/outbound email.
    2. Does this coexistence server have to be Exchange 2013 or will Exchange 2010 sp3 suffice?
    3. Are there any other methods of accomplishing this ask? We don't want users to have to individually share calendars...so internet calendar sharing is out of the question.

    Hi,
If the organization receives or sends Internet e-mail for the domain, we need to
    configure an
    internet facing CAS server.

  • Outlook 2013, Exchange 2010 error with Rules and Alerts

    Hello,
I was recently informed by a user that when they open Outlook 2013 and click Manage Rules and Alerts, they get the following message:
By the way, NO Microsoft, this information is not helpful.  Anyways, I found that the same problem is happening in my Outlook as well.  I do not believe it is happening to all users' accounts, and I am able to set up Rules within Outlook Web Access,
so it seems to be some local setting.  I found a lot of forums suggest running the Outlook /cleanrules switch, and this did not fix the problem.  Other suggestions are to delete the profile on the computer and/or uninstall outlook and reinstall it.
I don't like these solutions, as they don't point to the true source of the problem and do nothing to help avoid this problem in the future.  Has anybody else had this problem and been able to fix it?  We are running Exchange 2010 in our environment,
although not sure if that makes a difference or not.  Any answers that do not suggest the things I have already mentioned would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi,
For this issue, I recommend you ask in Office forum which is staffed by more experts specializing in this kind of problems. You might get better help there.

    Hi
This issue could be with corruption in  Autodiscover and web services virtual directory
Replace Web.config file for Autodiscover and web services virtual directory from the other working site
Delete and Recreate  Autodiscover and web services virtual directory
Do this only  on the affected site

  • Outlook 2013 / Exchange 2010 constantly prompting for password

I as well as many users keep getting prompted for User/pass in outlook.  This usually happens when I go from LAN to WIFI or from office to home.  For example, If I close my laptop (not shut down) and head home then log back in and connect to my

    Any suggestions?

Outlook is simply not good at that with the existing protocols in Exchange 2010. Exchange 2013 uses MAPI over HTTP which may make that experience better.
Switching networks with Outlook open is typically not a good user experience.

  • Outlook 2013/ Exchange 2010 User Mailbox reached Limit and OWA is not reachable

Hello Folks,I have a strange Outlook/ Exchange problem with one of our Users, interestingly it’s the Boss of our company….The Background:- We have 2 Domains @company-1 or @company-2- We have 1 Exchange 2010 Server Version 14.03.0224.002- Till March of this year our Emails where hosted externally, we used to download the Emails every 2 minutes from POP3 Mailboxes into Exchange- We have 18 Users- So every User had a User account on our Exchange and a Mailbox externally- Now we host our Emails our self via MX and DNS Records(mail.company.cc)- The User kept their Exchange accounts, OWA is now working too So far all works well on my little Server farm. The Catch:Usually our users have only one Email address either @company-1 or @company-2 Except our Boss and one other User, they have an Email address in both Domains They have addresses one...

    Hi,
I suggest to repair .ost file to check this issue by the following steps:
    Exit Outlook.
In Control Panel, click or double-click Mail.
In the Mail Setup dialog box, click E-mail Accounts.
Click the Data Files tab, select the Exchange account, and then click
Open File Location. A file explorer window opens to the location of the data file for the Exchange account. The
Account Settings and Mail Setup dialog boxes will remain open, behind the file explorer window.
Close the Account Settings and the Mail Setup dialog boxes, then return to the file explorer window.
Important: be sure to close these two dialog boxes before you delete the file. If they aren't closed, Windows may display an error message about a conflict.
In the file explorer window, right-click the Exchange data file and then click
Delete. The next time you start Outlook, a new .ost file is created for the account.
    Best Regards.

  • Surface + Outlook 2013 + Exchange 2010 + VPN Problem

Ok so the Surface with Outlook 2013 works fine with our Exchange setup when the machine is attached to the network directly. Once it is on an external network and attached via a VPN connection it ceases to operate, and attempting to run Outlook simply results
in a box asking for credentials, which even when typed in correctly are not accepted.
We use many other laptops that are running Windows 7, and a couple that are running Windows 8.1 in the exact same manner, and they operate without issue.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
May I first know your Surface version?
If you are not using Surface RT, I suggest you try this:
In Outlook, go to FILE -> Account Settings -> Account Settings -> Double click on the account name -> More Settings -> Connection -> Exchange Proxy Settings -> We can find under "Proxy authentication settings", there are "Basic
Authentication", "NTLM Authentication" and "Negotiate Authentication", I suggest you try "Basic Authentication", then click "OK". Other two authentications can also be tried if the "Basic Authentication"
    doesn't work.
I hope the information is helpful.

  • Outlook 2013 / Exchange 2010 Calendar Invitations blank on recipient side

We have Exchange 2010 and Outlook 2013 for our clients.  When our users send calendar invitations to external recipients, some of the recipients are receiving regular emails just containing the notes field and subject.  Specifically, when we email
a @hotmail.com or @outlook.com address this occurs.  However, when we send an external calendar invitation to @gmail.com, the recipient can see it as a calendar invite and reply with an accept/tentative/decline.

  • Outlook Connectivity / Exchange 2010 Coexistence Scenarios

    Hello,
I recently migrated to Exchange 2013, autodiscover.domain.com and mail.domain.com are pointing to CAS 2013 for external and internal access. For EX013 users, Outlook establishes connection with both CAS 2010 and CAS 2013 which is fine. For EX2010 users,
Outlook establishes the connection only with CAS 2010 for both internal and external access. My understanding is that CAS 2013 should proxy the connection to CAS 2010, but it doesn't and also after the migration I have to remove and add the profile again for
the changes to take effect for the migrated users. I haven't changed the namespaces, its the same. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

    Hi,
Your understadning is correct. Since only Exchange 2013 is Internet-facing, CAS2013 would proxy all requests for Exchange 2010 external user accessing.
Please make sure the External URL in Exchange 2010 services are all set to $Null and Outlook Anywhere is enabled with the external host name pointed to mail.domain.com. Then the external Exchange 2010 user would connect the Autodiscover service
with autodiscover.domain.com successfully. The other services such as EWS, OOF and OAB request would be send to Exchange 2013 then proxy to Exchange 2010.
For more infromation about the connectivity in Exchange 2013 coexistence environment, please refer to:

  • Outlook 2013 on 2012 RDS and Outlook/Exchange 2010 FAT client font issue

Our terminal server was changed from a 2008 RDP box with Office 2003 to a 2012 RDS box with office 2013 on it. Now if a user changes a font - or any view setting - on the 2013 copy on the terminal box, their desktop in the office which runs Outlook 2010
has the 2013 settings. Why and how - if possible - do I make that stop?
Specifically a user made her font large from home to see it better on her home monitor and when she came in to the office, her outlook here had the large font and she had to change it back...which changed her view on the terminal server back to small.
Can THAT be managed through either of the Outlook clients or Exchange 2010 server? It does NOT happen with OWA so I assume the server is ruled out.
    Thanks!

    Hi Ms. Creant,
About this issue, I talked with Office colleagues, the issue you encountered is normal. If you change the font size from one client side, then you log in Outlook on another server, this settings
    will be synchronized.
From Exchange side, we can only set OWA font settings, there is no way to prevent the synchronization of this in Outlook.
    Thanks for understanding.

  • Microsoft Office 2013 Free/Busy Information Issue

We have several users that cannot see the free/busy information of another user in their Outlook 2013 calendars.  Creating a new Outlook profile for the user and repairing office solves the issue for a short period of time.  Users are running Windows

I have been working with Microsoft on this issue.  The patches below are suppose to fix this issue.  We are still currently testing them.

  • Problems with archive mailbox in Outlook, with exchange 2010+2013 co-existence

    Hi!
We have an Exchange 2010 environment plus one Exchange 2013 MBX server meant for archive mailbox purpose. (We are going to upgrade to 2013 but with over 20.000 mailboxes it will take som time. Therefore we need to co-exist with primary mbx on 2010 and archive
mbx on 2013 for some time.)
My primary mailbox is on a 2010 MBX server, and I have today given myself an archive mbx on 2013 MBX server.
When I use OWA, both my primary mailbox and my archive shows up and everything works 100% fine!
But when I try Outlook 2010 or Outlook 2013, only my primary mailbox works. The archive mailbox shows up, but generates an error when accessing it:
"The set of folders cannot be opened. Microsoft Exchange is not available. Either there are network problems or the Exchange server is down for maintenance"
Anyone who knows about this issue? Would we nice to know why it works in OWA but not in Outlook.
    Thanks!
