Outlook 2013 (Only) - Shared Mailbox - Not Syncing

Hi
After searching this forum and many other forums online, I have decided to ask my question here as I cannot find a solution.
We are migrating from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010 at the moment. All of a sudden our Outlook 2013 users (All of them) cannot update Shared Mailboxes. When you select that folder it says "Updating this Folder" but nothing is happening. Only happens
with their open Shared Mailbox not with their own Mailbox. I have done the following tests:
Users can open the Shared Mailbox and sync properly using OWA.
Users can open the Shared Mailbox but cannot sync via Outlook 2013.
Users can open and sync the Shared Mailbox via Outlook 2010.
Ran OST repair tool, no luck.
Completely deleted the profile and wiped all the files in the outlook folder and recreated the profile, no luck. (Not syncing straight away.)
Users can sync the Shared Mailbox when they are running outlook in Online mode. (I dont wanna do this coz they want to save their sent emails from a Shared Mailbox into the respective "Sent Item" folder which only works in Cached Mode.
Everything used to work fine and suddenly stopped for everyone. Can you please guide me on how to fix this?
Thanks in advance.
With regards
M
PS
I just realized that my Build Version is "Version 14.1 (Build 218.15)"
I am downloading the Service Pack 3, and it might help?

Hi,
It seems that the issue only happens in Outlook 2013 Cached mode. If you add secondary mailboxes to your profile through the Advanced
tab in the Microsoft Exchange dialog box, please check whether the “Download Shared Folders” is enabled in the Advanced tab.
If it is, the Sync issue occurs may because Outlook 2013 locally caches (in your Outlook data file [.ost]) all folders to which you have access in the secondary mailbox. To resolve it, we can refer to the detailed solution in the following KB:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2297543/en-us

Hi,
I found this little tick yesterday and did clear it. So now people can still have their own mailbox cached and the rest online. But thank you for the link coz I couldnt find it before and it is good to know that it is a known issue rather than being a misconfiguration
at server level :) I have marked your post as the answer. Thanks again.

  • Outlook 2013 (365) shared mailbox sent items

We have a new 365 installation with Outlook 2013 clients and Exchange 365. We have a number of shared mailboxes with delegated full access as required. We have applied the "DelegateSentItemsStyle " registry key in Office 15.0/Outlook/Preferences

  • My Outlook 2013 calendar events will not sync up on my iPad

I have outlook 2013, the iCloud control center on my PC, an iCloud account and enabled all appropriate settings on my iPad (and iPhone 5c). I am able to see my calendar events in outlook and in my apple calendar on my PC and on my Macbook Pro, but am not able to see any of my OUTLOOK initiated calendar events on my iPhone or iPad. I have attempted to follow instructions about syncing using iTunes (which doesn't seem to really be an option anymore) as well as syncing via iCloud (but there doesn't really seem to be an option to add an account other than my apple account via iCloud accessed over the web).
Anyone else having the same issue? Anyone have any suggestions?

  • Notes are blank in Outlook 2013 after updating the note in IOS 8

    The setup:
On my computer, Windows 7 and Outlook 2013 (Exchange 2013 on the server side).
I create a new note and close it. I can open it, modify it, and everything works as expected.
On my iPhone 6 with IOS 8.0.2, I go into the same note. Everything looks fine. If I modify it and close it, I can open it and everything looks fine.
Now the issue...When I go back to Outlook on my PC and open the same note (subject/title shows in the list view), the note is completely blank.
So, I go back to my phone and everything still looks ok. If I type in the now blank note on the PC, it overwrites the old note contents.
To make all this even stranger, if I log into OWA, the note is there and works fine through this entire process (well, until I overwrite the contents). But, in OWA, it seems to strip out the subject on certain saves.
I tried all this on another laptop I have lying around and get the same results. I tried a new profile. I tried safe mode. All the same.
This leads me to believe that Outlook 2013 has issues displaying notes. If OWA has the correct info, then the server has the correct info.
Does anyone else have this issue or can try to replicate the issue? Any suggestions on fixing it?

See if you are hitting the issue mentioned in the article -> http://support2.microsoft.com/kb/2980834/en-us?sd=rss&spid=16662&wa=wsignin1.0
If yes, the fix is with Exchange Server 2013 CU6.

    1) My MS Outlook for Mac 2011 does not sync with my Mac book's calendar/contacts/notes.
    2) My iPhone4s does not sync with my Mac book's calendar/contacts/notes anymore.

Correct, USB local sync was taken away from iphones and ipads with 10.9.1 and 2. We are not allowed to speculate on rumours it might come back in 10.9.3 plus new iTunes. Either wait and see or explore Syncmate 5 beta free trial.
    icloud still works.
Cant help with the Outlook problem.

    Hi
As per the information and details provided by you, Outlook 2013 free/busy cannot retrieve information, please follow these steps: -
The user has never logged in
Before any free/busy information is available, the user must have at least a calendar. A calendar will not be created until a user logs into their account.
The option to publish at some location has been enabled in Calendar options
In all Outlook versions, the option to publish free/busy information must be unchecked. By default, this option is already unchecked.
    This option is located under
    Tools > Options > Preferences > Calendar Options > Free/busy Options.
Outlook is using cached browser information
Outlook Free/busy user HTTP, and therefore borrows information cached by Internet Explorer. It is required to clear the offline cache. This is located under
Tools > Internet Options > General. In the “Temporary Internet Files”  section, choose the
    “ Delete files” button.
Internet Explorer settings is not correct
AN Internet Explorer setting may prevent the .ics file from downloading via HTTPS. In Internet Exporer on the Outlook computer, go to
Tools > Internet Options > Advanced. In the Security section, the checkbox for “Do not save encrypted pages to disk” should be unchecked.
I hope this information will be helpful for you.

  • Shared mailbox not searchable in Outlook

How can I get a shared mailbox searchable from Outlook?
PS... setting cached mode on for those shared mailboxes is not an option:
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/9729bba3-8d1e-4a17-b4d5-6e44d7ef1a9e/automapped-mailbox-is-not-searchable?forum=exchangesvrclients
My only work around in the mean time is to add a separate account, which means everyone has owner rights to the inbox in order to search it... there's got to be an easier way to do this... I can't believe that Microsoft wouldn't have thought this far ahead
when developing their new search feature...

    Unfortunately as mentioned here
http://community.office365.com/en-us/f/172/t/223771.aspx I believe it's the expected behaviour that if you tell Outlook to search "All Mailboxes" it won't include any additional / shared mailboxes you have configured.
If you click on the search box then in the search tab click Search Tools, followed by Locations to Search, you'll see all of those places that Outlook will include when searching "All Mailboxes", and if your Outlook is the same as mine then that
doesn't include additional mailboxes. In my case it includes my main Exchange account, a POP3 mailbox I have setup and an archive .pst file I have attached, but not the additional mailbox.
I don't know, but I suspect the issue is that Outlook / Windows search is actually searching and indexing the physical Outlook files (eg pst/ost) or at least basing what it indexes on them. Since additional mailboxes don't have their own .ost file they're
not listed, yet a locally attached .pst file is.
You should however be able to search the additional mailbox directly, either by selecting the additional mailbox before typing the search term you're looking for, or by going into Search Tools, selecting Advanced Find, and then in Browse selecting the mailbox
    you're interested in.

  • Outlook 2013 - Meeting Tracking is not updated when a meeting is changed in a shared calendar

    Hello,
we have troubles in our Outlook 2013 environment.
We changed from Outlook 2003 to Outlook 2013.
We have Exchange 2007 in background.
We have Outlook 2013 in Cached Mode.
    Problem description:
A secretary changes a meeting in a shared calendar of one of her bosses/colleagues. The colleague (organizer of meeting) gets responses of the attendees (aceptet, tentiative, denied) in his Mailbox. When he looks into the meeting to check how many persons
have acceptet the meeting, he founds out that the tracking is not update.
I found out in my first solution steps, that this occurs, when the meeting is changed in a shared calendar. When I change th meeting in my own calendar, it works. But we need a solution for the problem, because our secretaries are managing the meetings for
    some colleagues.

    Hi,
For your situation, please try the following steps:
    1. Please install the lasted update for Outlook 2013, and then check the issue.
    2. Check if the AutomateProcessing calendar setting for your Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 is set to
    None.
If so, please make sure the Exchange Server administrator start the Exchange Management Shell on the Exchange mailbox server.
Then, run the following command in the Exchange Management Shell:
    Set-MailboxCalendarSettings username -AutomateProcessing Autoupdate
Where username is the affected user's alias.
    3. Switch to Online Exchange mode to test the issue.

  • Outlook 2013 and Exchange 2007 not always syncing read status of a message

Out users are experiencing this issue from time to time. Outlook 2013 is using Exchange mailbox as default storage (Exchange 2007 SP3). Sometimes it shows that Inbox has one or few unread messages (Inbox name is bolded and there is a number near it). But
a user can't find any unread messages in the inbox. If he logs to his mailbox via OWA, then he can find those unread messages. But they are marked as read in the Outlook. So it seems Outlook 2013 has issues syncing with Exchange 2007 as we have never experienced
such issues when using Outlook 2007 with the same server.
Any hints on how to make this thing go away, other than instructing users to log via OWA and mark unread messages as read?

    Hi,
Switch to Exchange Online Mode, does the issue persist?
It seems to be a sync issue between Outlook and Exchange, make sure the Internet connection is good. Let me know if the issue persist after clicking
    Send/Receive All Folders button.
Try to run Scanpst.exe to repair the local data file in case the data file has been corrupted:

  • Exchange 2013 (Office 365) shared mailbox not staying up to date.

We have created a new shared folder for multiple users to access in Office 365 and were having some issues. There are a few users where this mailbox works great, but others users aren't able to see any changes that are made in the shared mailbox.
Opening the mailbox in O365 shows all folders, emails, etc... but for some reason syncing stops working randomly after a bit of time. Removing and re-adding permissions to the mailbox does fix this issue, but that's not a feasable fix for us.
Users can add folders to the shared mailbox, and those added folders do show up in the mailbox when opened in O365, but the changes do not push down to multiple other clients.
Anyone else seen this or have any info? Thanks!

    Hi,
Are the users using Cached Exchange Mode or Online Mode? When the issue comes next time, have the user switch to the other mode and test if this helps.
We can disable Cached Mode for Shared folders, check if this helps resolve the sync issue:
Go to FILE -> Account Settings -> Account Settings -> Double click on the Exchange account -> More Settings -> Advanced tab -> Uncheck "Use Cached Exchange Mode", and click Apply then OK.
In Cached Mode, it doesn't connect to Exchange Server all the time but keeps a cache of the mailbox locally to sync the local cache and mailbox according to a period, this may cause some items not sync immediately. By switching to Online Mode, it should
    be immediate.

  • Outlook 2013 - Searching All Mailboxes... doesn't!

Hello.  We have a number of users that are having problems searching their mailboxes.  We are:
    Outlook 2013
    Cached Exchange Mode
    Fully Indexed
Selecting the option to search "All Mailboxes"
Only brings up results from local inbox.
I have tried this at our help desk on several computers, same problem.
I have read through some of the postings on here, but nothing seems to help.  Any ideas?  Can't see recreating profiles for a large group of people and then have it not work.  Recreated my own profile and still won't search my shared mailbox.
    Thanks!
    ~Chris

    Hi Chris,
Sorry for the delay. It's the normal behavior of Outlook to not include shared mailbox even if you select to search "All Mailboxes".
Some users reported that they can search shared mailboxes after checking the box "Download shared folders" under Account Settings > More Setting > Advanced. You may also test it if possible. (I've tested it in my environment, but it didn't work.)

  • Outlook 2013 treating Shared Calendars differently

I did try to ask this in a
different forum, but was pointed to this one:
This question encompasses a few Microsoft products, but I think this is the best place to ask the question because the actual issue is Outlook 2013 for Windows desktop.
We have Outlook connecting to a couple of different kinds of Shared Calendars. The problem is it is only performing appointment reminders for one of the kinds.
The one that IS working: a shared calendar created by creating a Room on a Windows Phone. When anyone in the Room creates an appointment with a reminder on that calendar, the reminder goes off in each user's Outlook 2013.
The one that IS NOT working: a shared calendar created in Exchange Online. When any member of that shared mailbox creates an appointment with a reminder on that calendar, the reminder DOES NOT go off in each user's Outlook 2013.
The question: How do we get the reminders to work in the second case?

Are the room calendar appointments  added to the user's default calendar in Outlook? If so, they will get a reminder in Outlook. (They aren't added to my calendar here - I only get a reminder on my phone - the Room lives only on my phone.)
Shared calendars are in another mailbox and reminders don't fire in those mailboxes. If the user has owner permissions and opens the shared mailbox by adding it to their profile they should get reminders.  File, Account Settings, double click on the
account, then More Settings - select the shared mailbox to add it to the profile.
