Outlook 2013 Scheduling Assistant Crashing

We have a user that has an issue where Outlook 2013 will crash when using the scheduling assistant with external addresses. For some reason it doesn't crash when using my external email address but every other email address we have tried will cause it to
crash. I have tried disabling all the add-ins but it doesn't make a difference. I have also tried running the outlook diagnostic utility which disabled add-ins and other things but it still crashes after running that.
The only thing that worked was starting Outlook 2013 in safe mode.
Any ideas?

Hi,
In Outlook Safe Mode, all Add-ins are disabled, but you mentioned you have tried disabling all add-ins, so add-ins shouldn't be the cause.
Another thing that is disabled in Safe Mode is the NormalEmail.dotm template. It can cause the crash issue if it has been corrupted. Please go to the following location:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates
Find the NormalEmail.dotm file, rename it to ".old". Outlook then will create a new one, check if this issue persists with the new NormalEmail.dotm file.
If the problem persists, please collect the event logs and send it to us.
Press Win + R, type "eventvwr" in the blank box, press Enter.
Browse to Windows Logs -> Application, find the errors about the issue.
To protect your private information, you can send the logs to our email address:

  • Acrobat XI Outlook 2013 add-on crashes Outlook

Acrobat XI Outlook 2013 add-on crashes Outlook each time I try to convert an email to PDF,
I did not see a relevant answer to this specific problem in the forums.
Of course I can print an email to acrobat PDF but I believe a fix or an update from Adobe is overdue.
I had to disable the add-on in the meantime.
Otherwise PDF maker in the right click context menu works fine.
Windows 7 64 bit, Acrobat XI Pro 11.0.5
    Anybody has an idea ?

    Have you tried the following?
Launch Office 2013 as Administrator, i.e. right click on Office icon and select 'Run as Administrator'.
    or
Try creating a new user account on Windows to see if the same issue occurs.

  • Outlook 2010 : Scheduling Assistant not showing participant's timeline, stuck on updating and won't finish

Since last week when i tried to schedule a meeting, i am not able to use scheduling assistant to view the participants time. It will just display a gray bar with 'Updating Schedule Information" and it goes on without displaying anything. The
same goes for my calendar.  I've added few colleagues' calendar and previously i was able to view their time, now it just says 'updating' with the spinning animation.
    I tried to :
    - start outlook in safe mode, not working
    - Create new profile with my account and restart outlook. No luck
    - enable logging on Outlook, but there is not <date>-<time>-fb.log file created when i tried to view a colleagues calendar.
    but,
    - Start OWA and view both calendar and scheduling assistant, works fine!
    - on my colleagues laptop, added my account and it works.
It seems to me Outlook Calendar is not retrieving the information from exchange server. Sending email and receiving email works as normal and i can see my outlook status is connected to exchange server.
Any idea how to fix this? Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
According to your post, I understand that there is an issue when using Scheduling Assistant in Outlook. I noticed that the issue doesn’t exist in OWA or on your colleagues computer.
Please change a new computer with your domain account to login to check whether the issue persists. If the issue doesn’t continue in new computer, the issue may be caused by some third-party programs in your original computer. We can disable them and perform
a clean boot in Windows for the computer to have a try:

  • Outlook 2010 Scheduling Assistent - No free busy information can be received.

    Folks:
I have recently upgraded to Outlook 2010 running on Windows 7 x64.  My email is exchange based. My machine is not a member of the domain my exchange server is in.
I access it my a stored credential.
Everything is fine except for Scheduling assistant.  All the folks invited to a meeting (except for myself) show up as "No Information Available".
I have found plenty of posts that suggest this is also a Outlook 2007 issue, and that creating a key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\Options\Calendar\UseLegacyFB
(value 1) solves the issue.  (Example:http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvrgeneral/thread/c765605d-27a7-4784-993c-925394e2e09f)  I did create the key on my Outlook 2010 machine - but in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Options\Calendar
key.  It is not resolving my issue.
Does anyone know the Outlook 2010 solution to this issue?  Note:  I have Administrative privilege on my Client - but no privilege on the server.  I need to get
Outlook 2010 to interface with Exchange 2007.
    John

    Hi John,
Thank you for using Outlook IT Pro Discussions forum.
From your description, I understand that you are using Outlook 2010 and Exchange account.
There is no free busy information when using scheduling assistant. If there is any misunderstanding, please feel free to let me know.
First, you must be using an Exchange server and everyone must publish their free/busy information.
Check from File > Options > Calendar Options > Free/Busy Options.
Make sure the month value for publishing is not zero.
Also, I found a similar thread here:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-GB/exchangesvradmin/thread/5991f3b6-f0cc-432f-82c6-f24da0a42862
You can also try the suggestions in that thread to recreate the web services virtual directory
    ===============
    1. Remove-WebServicesVirtualDirectory -identity "Servername\EWS (Default Web Site)" -identity "Servername\EWS (Default Web Site)"
    2. IISReset –noforce
    3. New-WebServicesVirtualDirectory
    4. IISReset –noforce
If this problem persists, it might be related to some settings on the Exchange server side. You can also post this thread in Exchange server forum:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-GB/exchangesvradmin/threads
Please take your time to try the suggestions and let me know the results at your earliest convenience. If anything is unclear or if there is anything I can do for
you, please feel free to let me know.
    Best Regards,
    Sally Tang

  • Outlook 2013 - "schedule an automatic send/receive" NOT functioning

Here is yet another bug in Outlook 2013 which remains at large.
Yes, "schedule an automatic send/receive" is not functioning, except in the case of Hotmail/Outlook.com
The only time new emails  are getting download are when the Send/Receive button is clicked, or when the inbox of the account is selected.
Other than that Email is not getting checked/downloaded every thirty minutes as it is setup to do.
Oh, and please none of those generic "create a new profile" answers.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
We have unmarked that thread. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
We have tried several steps to narrow down the issue in the previous thread. The issue is a little difficult, may not good to troubleshoot in the forum. We highly recommend you
to contact our phone support to get more effective support.

  • Outlook 2013 Account Addition Crash

    Hello,
I'm running Windows 8 with Office 2013 and I've successfully added a few of my email accounts to my Microsoft Outlook, they all work great but recently I attempted to add my university address by using the automatic "add account" and every time
it searches for my address a pop-up box reads "Microsoft Outlook has stopped working".  In my attempts to manually add the account via the control panel through the Mail (Microsoft Outlook 2013) button, once it starts searching for my address,
again, it claims the "Windows Shell Common Dll has stopped working" and forces me to close that box.  In both situations which I have tried many times, after powering on and off my computer, the add account box continues to crash right when
it starts looking for my address.  Any suggestions? Thank you for your help in advance.
    -Justalistener

    Hi,
It sounds like an Outlook profile issue. You may follow the steps in the article below to create a new Outlook profile and configure your university email account as default:

  • Help needed with buggy Outlook 2013 and Exchange 2010 trashing profiles

    Hi All,
I have a customer who has eschewed MOLP and buys all their Office OEM from Dell.  So as a result they are starting to have more and more office 2013 be deployed.  They have a SBS 2011 server with Exchange 2010 and it is patched to the latest
rollups and service packs.  (SP3, RU2)  Their Outlook 2010 and earlier clients are just peachy on this.  But the Outlook 2013 clients are having problems.
What is going on is that periodically I'll get a complaint from a user that their Outlook 2013 is randomly crashing.  In all cases the fix is going into the Outlook Profiles, creating a new profile, then setting the new profile as the default
and going back into Outlook 2013 and letting it rebuild the cached data on the PC.  This seems to happen a few times a month with random users on the network.
I told the customer it was probably people not logging out of Outlook 2013 at night and their machines being power spiked but I think that's highly unlikely since it doesen't happen to the Outlook 2010 clients.
I don't know if any Microsoft developers read this but if you do, please take it back to your bug database.  Any other suggestions would be appreciated (other than scotch Outlook 2013 - while I'd appreciate that, my customer wouldn't)

In all cases the fix is going into the Outlook Profiles, creating a new profile, then setting the new profile as the default and going back into Outlook 2013 and letting it rebuild the cached data on the PC.
The Outlook 2013 crash problem would be fix after you re-create a new profile and re-sync the data from Exchange, right?
When we meet the same problem in next time, I suggest we run the Outlook Product Stability Diagnostic tool to isolate known causes of crashes in Outlook. The Outlook Product Stability Diagnostic also creates a diagnostic report outlining the data it collected
and recommendations on possible steps you can take to reduce or eliminate Outlook stability issues.
Please click the following link to run the Outlook Product Stability Diagnostic tool in the Microsoft Fix it Center Pro portal:

  • Outlook 2013 not responding upon startup

    Good day
We have a client that is running Windows Multipoint server on a Dell server, the remote users connected to the server can not open Outlook 2013, when they try open Outlook 2013 it would crash and state that Outlook can not open at this time please try again
    later.
Please advise on what to do to solve this matter.
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi,
Are you using Outlook with Cached Exchange mode enabled? If not, please enable it to check the result.
Please first try to open Outlook in safe mode to check if this issue is caused by problematic add-ins. To do this, hold Ctrl key and then double-click on the Outlook shortcut to open it. If the problem would be gone in safe mode, please go to File >
Options > Add-ins and disable suspicious add-in to resolve the problem.
If above doesn't help, please follow the steps in the KB article below to troubleshoot the issue:

  • Scehudling assistant causes Outlook 2013 crash when creating meeting with external attendee

    Good morning
I have a very annoying problem with Outlook 2013 that occurs when a user attempts to create a meeting, inviting and external attendee and uses the Scheduling Assistant to help them organise timings. We are running Exchange 2013 CU3 with no other versions
    of Exchange in our environment.
Everything works fine until the user attempts to use the Scheduling assistant, as soon as they do, Outlook promptly crashes. Using OWA, things seem to work as expected.

Has anyone experienced this before and if so can you help me fix it please? Is this a bug with Outlook or Exchange? I am going to test the same scenario on a machine running Outlook 2010 to see if the same issue still persists.

Open Outlook with /safe command (Or hold Ctrl key when open Outlook) starts Outlook without the Reading Pane or toolbar customizations. Both native and managed Component Object Model (COM) add-ins are turned off. To narrow down the cause,
you can also try /safe:1 and /safe:3 commands.
/safe:1   Starts Outlook with the Reading Pane off.
/safe:3   Both native and managed Component Object Model (COM) add-ins are turned off.
To do this, press Windows key + R to open the Run command, type outlook.exe /safe:1
    and press Enter.
In addition, you can refer to the steps in this article to troubleshoot issue that Outlook does not crash when you start it in safe mode. See the "Step 6: Start Outlook in safe mode" section:

  • Outlook 2013 shared calendars show "no connection" and users can't see other's free / busy time in scheduling assistant

    Info:
Outlook 2013 Pro Plus - Windows 7 64bit - Exchange 2007 Hosted by Rack Space - everything fully patched....
every user in our company on Office 2013 now has the same issue: shared calendars won't populate with the following error: "no connection" when they try to see another user's calendar in scheduling assistant, it just shows those diagonal lines
    (like they don't have permission)
Based on "research", reaching out to Rack Space and some desperate Googling, I've tried the following to no avail:
run full repair of Microsoft office 2013 and also reinstalled Office 2013
turn off /on cached exchange mode, turned off /on Work Offline mode
    rebuild OST and email profile
start Outlook in safe mode with no add-ins running
check auto discover records and add auto discover server address to local intranet zone in Internet Explorer
modify calendar permissions for both ends of the calendar interaction
check Outlook OWA access, confirmed everything is fine there

  • Outlook 2013 with Office365 exchange Scheduling assistant not retrieving free/busy information

Hi, we are using Outlook 2013 with Office365 Exchange and when using the Scheduling assistant in Outlook users are seeing "No Information. No free/busy information could be retrieved".  The scheduling assistant works fine in OWA.
I have spent time trying to find an answer on the web but most answers involve different exchange variations.
    Mark

    Hi,
Since the problem only exists on Outlook Client, we can try running Outlook with the switch "/cleanfreebusy", this will clear and regenerate free/busy information:
outlook.exe /cleanfreebusyin the blank box, then press Enter.
You can also switch between Online and Cached Mode to check if there's a difference.

  • Office 2013 "Working Elsewhere" not viewable in Scheduling Assistant

    Hey
I have a problem with appointments that have the Show As option as "Working Elsewhere".  When someone tries to use the scheduling assistant and selects someone who has an appointment set to "Working Elsewhere" the appointment
is not visible at all in Scheduling Assistant. If the person changes the appointment to Busy or Out of Office is becomes visible again to the person using Scheduling Assistant. Outlook 2013 and Exchange Server 2010 with the latest updates installed are
being used in our Environment. Is this type of behaviour by design or is it something else like using Exchange 2010 that doesn't support it fully?
    Thanks for the help
    Charlie

    Hi Charlie,
Base on my search, because "Working Elsewhere" is a new free /busy state introduced in Outlook 2013 clients, exchange 2010 may not know it.
So, this is a type of behaviour by design, thanks for your understanding!
    Best regards,

  • Outlook 2013 crashes when opening Calendar search result

I have a user who uses her Outlook 2013 calendar extensively, mainly to note for herself when she has spoken to a customer, and creating appointments for when she needs to speak to them again. (This is outside of our policy to note the contact in
MS CRM.) She can have scores of such Calendar items each day.
When seraching for these appointments in her Calendar, she gets the list of results, but Oulook crashes when she tries to open any of them. Sometimes Outlook restarts on its own, sometimes she must relaunch it herself.
Related threads reference a wwlib.dll error, but she is not getting that. It is Outlook.exe itself that is crashing. There are other threads that reference other open windows, or items containing webpages or tables, but these do not apply to her, either.
Event Data (two related entries) contain the following:

On answers.microsoft.com, Girish M (Support Engineer who eventally directed me here), asked me to run Scanpst.exe. I would paste the results here, but this window does not seem to allow pasting. A summary description of what it found on her .ost file (no
.pst in use) is basically this:
    **Beginning NDB recovery
      **Attempting to open database
      **Attempting to validate header
      **Attempting to validate AMap
      **Attempting to validate BBT
      **Attempting to validate NBT
      **Attempting to validate BBT refcounts
??Couldint find BBT entry in the RBT (E025CC)
**Attempting to validate header NID high-water marks
    **Beginning PST/OST recovery
**Attempting to recover all top-level objects
        **Store created by biuld: 15.4517
      **Attempting to walk all folders
Failed to add row to the FLT, RowID = 719
Failed to add row to the FLT, RowID = 6CD
Failed to add row to the FLT, RowID = 6DE
Failed to add row to the FLT, RowID = 6D8
and so on, and so on, with a few hundred more FLT RowID errors, finally ending with:
**Attempting to locate any orphaned folders/messages
      **Performing Final HMP validation
**Attempting to check top-level objects for consistency
      **Updating folder hierarchy
      **Verifying message moves
My understanding of the Scanpst.exe process is that it also disables any addons which might cause crashing, but the issue is still being experienced. Running Scanpst.exe a second time (appending the previous log, although it seemed to actually prepend the
file) only returned a few lines from the top of the result above ending with "Attempting to validate BBT."
Fixes not attempted yet that I have found performing searches include running the Office Repair tool, or checking for KB2817631 (a Word update that is apparently having adverse affects on Outlook, not attempted yet because it seems to be related to the wwlib.dll
error, which is not happening here).
    Any thoughts out there? Thanks!

    Mavis,
Thanks for the reply. Running Outlook using /cleansharing and
/cleanroamedprefs did not have any effect when used individually or in combination with each other.
Running the Search Index Rebuild option also did not seem to do anything, as the pop-up message indicated that it may take a long time to finish, and yet seemed to finish instantaneously, not giving any indication that the indexing took place. The option
window immediately said "Indexing complete" for 23,755 items.
As to the Outlook Forum, they are the ones who directed me to this forum (you can see the thread on the Answers support page under Office - Office 2013 - Microsoft Office Outlook - Office on Windows 7, under the title "Outlook 2013 restarts when
opening Calendar Search result item" first posted on Dec 11, 2013), as Girish M felt that it might be due to Exchange, and not Outlook. (I have no reports of any of our other users on the same Exchange server having the problem with their Outlook, but
they also do not use it the way this user has been.)
I can repost the issue there, or continue the same thread, if you think the issue lies with them. Was the "Answers" site the improper place to post, perhaps? Should it go in a different thread on Technet instead?
    Thanks for your assistance!

  • Appointment Details are not shown in Outlook 2013 Calendar Schedule View

In Outlook 2013 Calendar one has got five standard views to view appointments and meetings:
Day, Work Week, Week, Month and Schedule view.
When hovering with the mouse over an appointment the details are shown in Day, Work Week, Week and Month view but
    not in Schedule view.
Is there any configuration setting to turn this feature on in Schedule view?
    Remarks:
    - In Outlook 2010 this problem does not occur.
    - Within the scheduling assistant, the details are shown in Outlook 2013 when hovering with the mouse.

    Hi,
I tested on my Outlook 2013 and got the same result. When hovering over an appointment, the details are shown in Day, Work Week, Week, Month, but it's not shown in Schedule View.
I haven't found such a setting to change this, it seems to be a product limitation so far.
