Outlook 2013 some folders aren't appearing.

Recently upgraded to Office 2013 ProPlus and just noticed in Outlook that some of my folders were missing.  They were created while using 2010 ProPlus but no longer there in Office 2013.  I have not enable updates for Office 2013 just yet. I
read where there was an update that broke the folder option, but I haven't enabled updates yet.  Will an update fix this problem?

I would suggest you to check in Outlook Web App to see if those folders are out there on the server. If they are appearing on the server, then your local data file could be corrupted. I would suggest you to use scanpst.exe tool to repair your data file:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook-help/repair-outlook-data-files-pst-and-ost-HA102749454.aspx
If scanpst.exe doesn’t help with your problem, then please consider trying to create a new Outlook profile.
Also, those foleders could be hiden in MFCMAPI, please download MFCMAPI, and follow the steps in this article to check so:

  • Outlook 2013 Public Folders search

Hi all. I'm having issues with one of my users trying to search a specific folder on public folders in outlook 2013. I've added the folder to the user's favorites list so it can cache a local copy to speed up searches. When the user clicks on the folder contained in the favorites tab, the user can see the inbox with real-time inbound mails. However, when doing a search, the results are returned but it immediately begins to remove the results one by one, from most recent to oldest. I say remove because I don't know if they're being deleted or not.
I've been digging through all my settings and I still cannot figure out where this issue is happening. Any ideas what I can do?

    Hi
To solve the issues in Outlook 2013, please follow these steps: -
In order to have the Instant Search feature for Public Folders behave the same as for your mailbox, the following conditions must be meet: -
Outlook must be configured to cache
    Public Folder Favorites.
(and of course the caching and indexing must have been completed)
    The
Public Folder must be marked as a Public Folder Favorite.
The search must be performed from within the
Favorites section of your Public Folders tree and not from its actual location within
    All Public Folders.
    Thanks and regards

  • Outlook 2013, some inbox contents disappear (although seen a while ago), until Outlook restarts

This happened recently on two different machines.
    Connected to exchange 2010, windows 8.1 x64.
People lost some of their inbox items, although they did see those items a few minutes before. A search doesn't find them.
Closing and opening Outlook brings them back.
    Heard that before?
    Ideas?
    NLS

    Thanks for the update.
Do you have any add-in installed with your Outlook? Do you have any security program installed? Please disable all add-ins in Outlook's File > Options > Add-ins and make sure your
security program is not integrated with your Outlook, and then check the issue again.
    Thanks,

  • Outlook 2013: Imported or copied items from .pst file disappear after a few seconds

I am migrating from an open source email platform (Axigen) to Outlook/Exchange 2013. The Axigen system uses a connector for Outlook allowing users to use Outlook as a client.
To move from Outlook 2010 with the Axigen server to Outlook 2013 with Exchange I have exported the entire mailbox from Outlook 2010 to a .pst file which I am then trying to import into Outlook 2013.
The import process appears to complete successfully and the imported items show up in Outlook 2013 - but only for a second or two. Then they disappear completely, nowhere to be found. This happens with  ontacts, emails and calendar items and the result
is the same whether I import the entire mailbox or just a folder at a time.
If I OPEN the .pst file into Outlook 2013 everything in it looks perfectly OK, I can view items with no problems, all folders are there with their correct content. Now if I try to move or copy
items from the opened .pst file into the Outlook 2013 mailbox, I get the exact same symptoms as when importing. Items show for a couple of seconds and then disappear. If I copy or move a
folder, the folder remains in the Outlook 2013 folder tree but the items in it disappear.
Why would items be perfectly visible and readable from an opened .pst file but disappear when they are copied into the new 2013 mailbox?
They are not visible in OWA either, btw, so this is not just Outlook not displaying them, they are really gone. Checking the folder size in Outlook shows an empty folder (size 0, 0 messages). I have tried the /cleanviews switch when starting Outlook.
This has me completely stumped. Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance!

    More strangeness:
I set up an Android phone to sync with this account just now. I imported my contacts list from the phone into the Exchange account. After sync, all the contacts are perfectly visible on the phone, but NOT in Outlook 2013 or in OWA...
So maybe it is some sort of display filter thing after all?
That's unbelieveable that message is visiable in Android phone through Exchange ActiveSync but cannot be viewd in OWA...
For the database session, we may enable
Exchange Mailbox Audit logging(http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff461937(v=exchg.150).aspx) to check if the message is indeed upload into DB from Outlook.
For the client level, please enable Outlook logging to log what happens inside outlook to aid in your troubleshooting.
We can enable Outlook logging in Outlook 2013 under File > Options > Advanced > "Other" section
Log files are created as .etl files and stored in %userprofile%\Local Settings\Temp.  A new log file is created each time Outlook starts.

Okay, I have enabled Outlook logging. However I cannot find any way to read those .etl files.
I also enabled audit logging in Exchange but as I understand it that will not log operations performed by the mailbox owner, only non-owner access.
I think I am close to giving up on this. I can't believe an enterprise email platform will simply delete messages copied into a mailbox without any error message whatsoever, and no way for an admin to track what is happening.
It is definitely happening when syncing with Exchange, so there must be something in these items (and
remember this happens not only to email messages, but also to Contacts) that makes the Exchange server decide these messages should be discarded witout warning.
One other thing: Folders copied from the .pst are visible on Outlook (although their contents are deleted) but not on ActiveSync clients. If I create a new folder in the mailbox, it syncs as it should.

  • Outlook 2013 - Inbox not showing count of unread emails

Ever since moving to Outlook 2013, some of our users are experiencing issues where their inbox does not show the count of unread emails. These user's are working in cached exchange mode. Taking them out of cached exchange mode, deleting OST file and then
putting back in cached exchange mode usually resolves the issue. However, this is only temporary and the problem comes back. We are running Exchange 2010.
Any suggestions on how to resolve this issue for good?
    Thanks.

    Hi
As per the information and details provided by you, to solve the problem of Outlook 2013, please follow these steps: -
I was also having the same problem. At the top of the
Inbox, I clicked “Unread” (which is new to
Outlook 2013, and different than the Unread, Mail search folder). It showed a message, something like,
“there are more items on the server”, and gave me a link to view the items. When I clicked the link, no items appeared, but my unread mail indicator on my
    Inbox went away.
I hope this information will be helpful for you.
    Thanks and regards

  • 'Missplaced' E-mail in Outlook 2013/O365

I found several threads from a few years ago about 'missing' e-mail in Outlook 2013 but they do not appear to address the following issue. My wife has a Surface running 64-bit 8.1 and uses O365 (with downloaded Office 2013 applications). She also has a
Windows Phone running 8.1, that synchs to O365 (e-mail). Messages that she reads on her phone end up in her
un-read message folder on her Surface rather as read messages in her inbox. Is this by design--which would seem odd? If not, is it a bug or a misconfiguration of e-mail on the phone, the Surface, or both? Thanks.

What is the Question? Configuration settings will make a difference and sync'ing will too.

  • PSE10 Outlook 2013 - Photo Mail can't find email association

I have Win 8 64-Bit (upgraded from Win 7 64-bit), Outlook 2013 (preview installed over Ourlook 2010) and PSE 10.
When I try use the Share > Photo Mail I get an error message:
"There is no email program associated to perform requsted action. Please install an email program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel."
After I hit ok on the windows looking message box, I get a message in PSE:
"Elements Organiser could not Finish creating your email Message.
Please make sure that Microsoft Outlook is selected as the default email program in the Windows Internet Control Panel, and that all dialog boxes in Outlook are closed. If  this is the first time you are using Microsoft Outlook, please run the Outlook applicaiton and complete its set-up process before sending mail through Elements Organiser.
Alternatively, you can use the Adobe Email Service via the Elements Organiser Preferences Dialog.
I have Elements preferences pointing to Outlook. When I switch the sharing preference to Windows mail, I get:
"Elements Organiser could not Finish creating your email Message.
Alternatively, you can use the Adobe Email Service via the Elements Organiser Preferences Dialog."
I have checked the default programs, and Outlook 2013 has all associated file type and protocols pointed to it. (an dre-booted PC after resetting defaults)
    So either:
      - I am mising a fix relating to upgrading Win 7 64-bit with PSE10 to Win 8 64-bit or
      - PSE is looking for a particular protocol in the program defaults like MAILTO (but not this one as this is pointed to outlook) that is missing.
Anyone o know of a fix or what protocol it is looking for?

Well, the problem seems to have been cured. Not really clear what changed.
But using the Photo Mail or Email Attachment (with Outlook 2013 open), and the email appears as Outlook new email, and good to send.
    Two mentionable things happened:
I have Outlook 2010 open and tried to open 2013. Error -another outlook already open. Cleared error, closed O2010 and opened 2013.
The first one that worked, I was actually busy compiling a separate email, so that new mail was open.
When I complile in PSE, I don't select a recipient. Do that in the outlook new email window. (tried with selecting, still works, bt worth a mention)
So the good news, PSE10 works with Outlook 2013.
But not sure how to get past the problem I had, but keep trying, it will work.

  • My Outlook 2013 folders aren't syncing

I'm using Outlook 2013 and I recently changed my email accounts from POP3 to IMAP. In doing so, I dragged mail folders from my old POP3 account and dropped them in the IMAP account as I wanted to retain my old emails and use the same folders. Immediately,
each folder's name was appended with (This computer only). For example, my folder called "Family" now reads "Family (This computer only)." None of these folders sync with my email accounts on my other devices such as my cell phone or iPad
which I have also converted to IMAP. If I delete an email on any device it deletes it on all, but the folders are not showing up except on my desk top. How do I get these Outlook folders to be IMAP folders?

Outlook 2013 changes how IMAP accounts are handled. If the folder's name is appended with (This computer only), that means this is a local folder and doesn't sync with your mailbox.
Based on your situation, please root your mailbox as the following article (perform the steps in a new creating profile would be a good choice):
    http://www.msoutlook.info/question/736
After that, create a new subfolder through Web-based access or Outlook site, and then move/copy all of message items from the local folder to solve the problem.
For the local “This computer only” folders, we recommand backup them to PST.

  • Lost Outlook emails and folders when upgrading 2013 Office

I updated my microsoft office 2003 to Office 2013 yesterday. When I opened Outlook 2013 for the first time after installing, all my emails were gone as well as the folders. How do I get all the emails back that I appeared to have lost as well as the folders
(which I used for different clients of mine). Currently I can send and receive emails just fine with my 2013 outlook, but all my old emaisl/folders are gone. Can some one please help.

    Hi,
Which account type are you using with your Outlook 2013? IMAP, POP3 or Exchange?
Do you mean the folder you created under your Inbox disappear from the folder pane? If I’ve misunderstood something, please feel free to let me know.
First, please check if you can see the missing folders and emails from web access.
In addition, have you import your old pst file to your Outlook 2013? If not, please find the old .pst file and import it to Outlook 2013 using the steps listed in the following article:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-in/outlook-help/import-outlook-items-from-an-outlook-data-file-pst-HA102919679.aspx

  • Can't move "completed" items into folders using Outlook 2013 on a Microsoft Office 365 Home Premium Account using a work Exchange 2010 address

I've been in touch with several Microsoft support teams about this issue, and the latest move was to shove me off onto Pro support, but since I'm using a personal Office account, I'm hoping that through the community I can find a way to resolve this issue without
escalating through our IT department. I do not think this is an Exchange issues because I have previously used this product and method without resulting in this error on a Windows 7 32-bit AMD computer and a Windows 8 and 8.1 Professional 64-bit Intel computer.
    Here's my current specs:
    Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, service pack 1
    AMD A6-5400 3.6 GHz
    8GB RAM
    Microsoft Office 365 Home Premium
    Office updates automatically, version 15.0.4551.1512
About Outlook shows "Microsoft Outlook 2013 (15.0.4551.1511) MSA (15.0.4551.1508) 32-bit/Part of Microsoft Office 365 Home Premium"
Here's how to reproduce the issue:
    1) Open View Settings
    2) Select "Other Settings..."
    3) Disable "Use compact layout in widths smaller than XX characters" and enable "Always use single-line layout"
    4) Select "Columns..."
    5) Under "All Mail fields" add "In folder"
    6) Select any email
    7) Context-menu -> Find Related -> Emails in this Conversation
    8) Select "more"
    9) Sort by folder
    10) Select all messages from Inbox.
    11) Use Outlook's preset "Done" function and select a destination folder
    12) Watch Outlook fail to run "Done" and reset your UI without producing an error.
The first attempt to resolve this issue was to set up a new Outlook profile. This seemed to exacerbate the problem and resulted in Outlook providing an "Unknown error" before resetting the UI.
The second attempt to resolve this issue was to run "outlook.exe /resetnavpane". However, the nav pane does not appear immediately relevant to this issue.
The following similar steps also result in a crash, this time with an error:
    11) Flag all select message as Complete.
    12) Move all messages from Inbox to a destination folder.
This change in procedure results in the error "Cannot move the items. Some items cannot be moved. They were either already moved or deleted, or access was denied."
Help me, Microsoft Community. You're my only hope.

Import the calendar and contacts in Outlook.com. For contacts, export from Outlook as csv and import into Outlook by choosing the Other option (https://people.live.com/import/other?biciid=ImportCatalog)
You'll need to save the calendar as an ics file to import it. Select the calendar folder, the File, Save as an save as an ics.

  • Sent messages aren't saved in the Sent Items folder in Outlook 2013

When we send a message in Outlook 2013, a copy of the message should be saved in the Sent Items folder by default. If Outlook doesn’t save a copy of the sent message, it may be caused by any one of the following
    reasons:
The “Save copies of messages in the Sent Items folder”
    option in Outlook is disabled.
The save location for sent messages was changed to another folder.
There is a custom view set on Sent Items folder, or the view on
    Sent Items is corrupt.
Outlook Data File may be damaged.
To resolve the issue, use the appropriate method for your situation.
Enable the Save copies of messages in the Sent Items folder
    option
To configure Outlook 2013 to save copies of your sent messages in the Sent Items folder, please follow these steps:
    1. Click File tab > Options.
    2. Click Mail on the left pane.
    3. Scroll to the Save Messages section, select the check box before “Save copies of messages in the Sent Items folder”.
    4. Click OK.
If it is the replying message that is not saving to the Sent Items folder, we need to disable the “When replying to a message that is not in the Inbox, save the reply in the same folder” option in the location mentioned above.
If you’re using an IMAP account, please also make sure you didn’t select the “Do not save copies of sent items” in Account Settings. To check this, Please refer to the following steps:
    1. In Outlook, click File tab > Info.
    2. Click Account Settings > Account Settings, and then double-click your IMAP account to open the
    Change Account wizard.
    3. Click More Settings button.
    4. Under Sent Items heading, clear the check box before “Do not save copies of sent items”.
    5. Click OK and click Next to complete the configuration.
Make sure there is no rule or anything else to redirect sent messages to other folders
To check if it is caused by Outlook rules, please follow these steps:
    1. In Outlook 2013, click Home tab.
    2. Click Rules > Manage Rules & Alerts.
    3. In the rules list, check if there is any rule that applied to the sent messages may cause this issue.
In addition, some rules may be corrupt or hidden and we cannot see them from the rules list. We need to use the MFCMAPI tool to find and delete the corrupt/hidden rules. To do this, we can use the following steps:
    1. Download MFCMAPI tool from: http://mfcmapi.codeplex.com/
    2. Start MFCMAPI tool.
    3. Click Session menu >
Logon, select the Outlook profile you are using and click OK.
    4. Double-click the mailbox that contains the inbox rules that you want to delete.
    5. A new window will open. In the new window, expand
Root Container or Root – Mailbox, and then expand
Top of Information Store or IPM_SUBTREE.
    6. Right click on Inbox and select
    Open associated contents table.
    7. In the Inbox window, locate and then right-click the items that have the
IPM.Rule.Message message class, and then click Delete Message.
To identify a specific rule, you’ll have to select the rule in the top pane in MFCMAPI and then scroll down in the lower pane and look at the
Property name(s) column. Find the ptagRuleMsgName property name and check the value against the rule name you were trying to delete in Outlook.
    8. In the Delete Item dialog, select
DELETE_HARD_DELETE from the Deletion Style drop-down menu.
    9. Click OK.
Reset the view settings on Sent Items folder
If you accidently changed the view settings on Sent Items folder, this may cause some sent messages not visible in the folder. To check if you’ve set any view settings on Sent Items folder, please follow:
    1. In Outlook, select Sent Items folder.
    2. Click View tab from the Ribbon.
    3. Click View Settings button. If you notice the
Reset Current View button is clickable, it means the view settings for Sent Items have been changed before.
    4. Click the Reset Current View button and then check the Sent Items folder again.
Scan and repair the Outlook Data File
To repair the .pst file, please follow:
    1. Find and start the Inbox Repair Tool in the following path:
For Outlook 2013 on a 32-bit version of Windows:
    <disk drive>\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\root\office15
For Outlook 2013 on a 64-bit version of Windows:
    <disk drive>\Program Files(x86)\Microsoft Office 15\root\office15
    2. In the Inbox Repair tool, click Browse to locate the PST file by using the Windows file system.
    3. Click Start.
    4. After the analysis scan has completed, it will present you with a scanning report and options for the next step. Click Repair button.
To repair the .ost file, since this type of data file is a copy of information saved on your mail server, we can just delete the OST file and restart Outlook to re-create a new one.
For more information about repair Outlook data files, please refer to this article:

Same problem here, connecting to a Groupwise (not latest) server. Whenever Mail.app 3 tries to upload/save a new messsage to the server, it would not save and completely lose the message!
I found slightly more information by turning off the "Save to server" option for Sent and Drafts, created a new message that I saved as draft, and then tried to manually move items to the Drafts or Sent folder on the IMAP server.
The error I received was: The message <message> could not be moved to the mailbox <mailbox>-<account>. The IMAP command "APPEND" (to <mailbox>) failed with server error: APPEND NotJunk.
To my inexperienced eyes, it looks like the latest version of Mail changed it's default IMAP handling commands that may be incompatible with older IMAP servers. Anyone else have more insight or know how I can get back Mail.app 2.x from Tiger?

  • Some Outlook tasks only showing up in Outlook Web App, even if they were entered in Outlook 2013 or on the iOS email client.

A user creates tasks in Outlook 2013, his Exchange email account on his iPhone and in the Outlook Web App (Not Outlook.com). A small number of these tasks will only show up in the Outlook Web App, though, no matter which platform he entered the
task from. He can enter a task in Outlook 2013 and it might not show up on the task list in Outlook 2013 or IOS after that, but WILL show up in the outlook Web App task list.
At first I thought sorting was the issue, but we compared all tasks in both Outlook 2013 and OWA, sorted by due date, and, sure enough, some were missing from 2013.
What I am not sure of:
If/how long a task will be visible on the platform it was submitted before it begins only appearing in OWA.
    How long ago this started
I couldn't find this issue in the community or with a quick google search.
I am going to see when he is available to sit down and go through tasks to see if there is a pattern and try replicate it so I can see how long it might be available on the submitting platform before disappearing.
I can provide any other info needed. Thoughts on this issue?

    Hi,
I would suggest you reset the view if you found some tasks in Outlook missing.
    VIEW tab -> Reset View.
Or we can simply start Outlook with the switch "/cleanviews"(Restores default views. All custom views that you created are lost):
Press Win + R and type “outlook.exe /cleanviews” in the blank box, then press Enter.
Check if this helps you find the missing tasks.

  • Presence not appearing in Outlook 2013

I have a user who is running Lync 2013 and Outlook 2013 (lync 2010 server/exchange 2010). The presence for other individuals shows correctly in Lync, however they all appear as white boxes in Outlook. We have tried everything from Repair, new profile, editing
some registry lines and made sure that the "Display online status next to name" option is selected. Nothing seems to work. We can attempt a complete reinstall of Office, but I'd like to look for other options before we take that route.
As a side note, we've had this happen in the past, and running Outlook with the /cleanfreebusy switch resolved it. For some reason, MSoft has decided to retire that switch in Outlook 2013.

    Hi,
Please first make sure the user's Lync 2013 has installed latest update.
Which registry key did you check? The registry key related to presence is:
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\IM Providers]
    "DefaultIMApp"="Lync"
    and
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\IM Providers\Lync]
    "ProcessId"=dword:00002458
    "UpAndRunning"=dword:00000002
    For more information, please refer:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/rathomas/archive/2012/12/04/outlook-2013-users-are-unable-to-see-the-presence-info-in-outlook.aspx
In addition, if the domain name in the Email and IM address fields were
different than the SIP address for this contact in the Lync address book, this issue may occur. You can refer to the following blog and look at the 'Out-of-Date Outlook Contacts' section:
    http://blog.insidelync.com/2013/09/lync-2013-presence-issues/
If the problem is as described in the blog, please try to correct the email and IM address in the Outlook contact and sign out and back in to the Lync 2013 client to resolve the problem.
    Hope this helps.

  • Outlook 2013 - Online Archive folders do not remember expand / collapse

For our QA group, we have just upgraded them from Office 2010 to Office 2013 SP1. We have one user that noticed something. With Outlook 2010, the client would remember which folders he had expanded or collapsed under his "Archive" (the online archive
generated by the Archiving feature of Exchange server). However, once we upgraded him to Outlook 2013, this is no longer true. Now, the "Online Archive" header is fully collapsed when he open Outlook every time.
To test, I created a small folder structure with some items in my own "Online Archive" section and was able to reproduce this behavior. Outlook 2013 will remember which folders are expanded or collapsed for the folders in my Inbox but not for the
folders in my Archive. Is there a way to have Outlook 2013 remember the expand / collapse settings for the Archive?

    Hi all,
I am having an issue with Outlook 2013.
It seems that for some reason it will not recognize my Username and password for Synching folders.
It works for sending and receiving messages, but when it tries to synch folders it comes back as wrong.
How can this be possible, doesn't it use the same UN/ PW for sending/ receiving as synching??
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
I suggest you remove Outlook credentials from Credentials Manager in Windows, then re-type your password to check if this issue persists:
    1. Exit Microsoft Office.
    2. Go to Control Panel.
    3. Click User Accounts.
    4. Click Credential Manager. In the Generic Credentials
section, you should see one or more credentials listed. You're looking for credentials that begins
    MS.Outlook.
    5. For each credential that begins with MS.Outlook,
        A. Click the details button (circle with a downward arrow next to the
    Modified date).
        B. Click Remove from vault.
    6. Repeat steps 5A & 5B for each credential that begins MS.Outlook.
I hope this helps. If it doesn't, delete the account and setup the account again to check the result.
