Outlook, attachments and Mail
For "safety' reasons, people who use outlook send their message as an attachment. The problem is when there is also an attachment. I can read the message that's the attachment, but for some reason the actual attachment does not appear. I have also tried TNEF's Enough, but that doesn't get the actual attachment. Any thoughts?

How to sync Outlook 2007 and Mail
I plan on dual booting vista with outlook 2007, and mac os x 10.6. Is there a program that will sync the mail accounts, and has to be able to sync my earthlink email account? I know you can leave the email on the server, but then whenever I switch from vista to mac I can't tell what messages I have and haven't read, and the sent mail doesn't sync. I have tried mobileme, but then I can't send from my earthlink account. Earthlink does not support IMAP accounts. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I've never heard of anything that would do this and I've never seen a feature like this even requested. If Erathlink does not support IMAP the best you can do is just what you are doing already - set POP options to leave mail on server after retrieval.
You might also consider getting an IMAP email account. Gmail and AIM are free and both offer imap. -
When I check the box to add Mail, Contacts, etc to iCloud, it goes through the setup about half way and crashes on the contacts. Error message is:
"Apple Outlook DAV Config has stopped working" Any suggestions? I can't get this stuff set up! Thank youHello Washit,
Sorry to hear that you are getting the error message "Apple Outlook DAV Config has stopped working."
I recommend following the steps in the section titled "Troubleshooting iCloud Contacts update or setup issues with Microsoft Windows (Microsoft Outlook)" in the following article:

Outlook connectivity and mail flow issue on Exchange 2010 3 node DAG
Hi,
I have 3 node DAG, 2 (NODE A, NODE B) in Production site and 1(NODE C) in DR site. but just 1 AD Site.
when I have the active databases on NODE B, everything works fine. no issues to report.
but when I move the databases on NODE A, outlook gets connected with trying to update folders. Furhter, emails will be in outbox and no new emails will be delivered to the users. After an hour or so emails get delivered from outbox.
Even after supplying the credentials OWA doesnt login. just tries to load.
No issues when I move the servcies on NODE C.
ANy idea what could be the issue?
Thanks,
VinodHi Vinod,
According to your description, there is one-hour delay in the process of sending and receiving emails.
To check if it’s caused by Autodiscover service, we can use the tool Test Email AutoConfiguration:
1. Hold CTRL and Click the outlook Icon in the system tray and select “Test Email Auto Configuration”.
2. Deselect the “Use Guessmart” and “Secure Guessmart Authentication” and click Test.
3. Check SCP value returned
For more information, please refer to the following article:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchdxb/archive/2012/05/10/troublshooting-autodiscover-exchange-2007-2010.aspx
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2663435
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/262052
If connectivity is well, the issue is mostly likely caused by the Exchange mail submission service.
We can check if the service work properly. And the issue may be not related to the Hardware Load Balancer. Because the emails are stuck in the client side.
Thanks,
Angela Shi

Webmail works Outlook Express and Mail.app do not
I am able to use webmail to send and receive but I can only receive email but not send (SMTP) with either Mail or Outlook Express. I have checked CRAM-MD5 Login and Plain for SMTP authentication. It appears in the logs that the clients do authenticate yet the clients time out.
I think I have seen this before of 10.3 Server during initial setup, I have since updated to 10.4 (clean install).
Any Suggestions?
DanThe "Accept SMTP relays only from these hosts and networks:" is unchecked. In the list is 127.0.0.1/32.
This server is on the internet and NOT on my inside network. I am assuming (big mistake) that I should leave this setting uncheck which means any host can relay SMTP as long as I require authentication the server will not act as an open relay......I am thinking I wrong here so please correct me.....

Our office has a 90 day retention policy so I use Outlook archiving on a windows machines that I also use at work to keep old messages locally on that machine. The problem is, Mail doesn't handle this very well and keeps showing mail that has been archived. When I try to do anything to this mail I get an error and those messages are basically stuck wherever they were which clogs up the works. Is there some way to clear those messages out of Mail without having to rebuild and reimport everything?

Outlook 2010 and Mail Sticking in the Outbox
This is a non-network question for Outlook 2010. I am not using an Exchange server. I am set up at home using Outlook 2010 on a home cable connection. Every time I send an email it hangs in the Outbox. There are no errors.
If I go to the Outbox and send it from there it sends without a problem. I have tested the cable router and line with no problems. Do you think it could be a problems with Outlook itself? Please advise.
Michael T. GlennHi,
I suggest you disable the firewall and anti-virus program to try again, they are more likely to cause this kind of issue.
Moreover, there are several steps that we can try to troubleshoot this issue.
We can start Outlook in Safe Mode to determine if it's 3rd-party add-ins related:
Press Win + R and type “outlook.exe /safe” in the blank box, then press Enter.
If there’s no problem in Safe Mode, disable the suspicious add-ins to verify which add-ins caused this issue.
Please also run Scanpst.exe to repair your Outlook Data File to check the result:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/272227/en-us
We can also create a new profile to re-setup your email account:

Why can't I save attachments and mail to different folders?
I am new to the iPhone world. switched from Treo, where I could save, and open attachments like excel, word, and PPT. I could put them in files also. I can't seem be to any of this with the iphone. How does Apple expect compete in the business world if we can't use the documents we need to use everyday!
You can also find non-Apple utility programs that will allow you to transfer your text messages to your computer.
If you use a Mac, look at this: http://www.ecamm.com/mac/phoneview/
This works on Macs and PCs: http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/touchcopy/index.php -
I re-send a mail with 3 pdf attachmets to an outlook account and the attachments do not arrive to the receiver, if the receiver is a Windows PC. If the receiver is an iPhone the attachments can be accessed til the moment Unload the full message is pushed
It is NOT legitimate. It is SPAM

Last week I suddenly started receiving all e-mails with photo attachments from other iPad and iPhone users (on my iMac, iPhone as well as iPad!) as " winmail.dat" files. It says everywhere that that is caused by Outlook users sending RTF e-mails. Obviousely that is not the case here. I found an app to open the attachments, but of course that is no real solution. I asked Android and MS Outlook users to send me e-mails with JPEG attachments and the arrive aas they should.
Does anyone know the answer to this?
Jos KorverBy the way, some non-delivery receipts (NDRs) are themselves spam messages with malicious attachments designed to infect your computer, so be cautious about opening any of those.

Mail attachments and forwarding as attachments
Since upgrading to Yosimite 10.10.1 Mail will not work with attachments saying that it cannot find the downloads folder. If you forward as an attachment the icon is not in mail format or recognised.
Hi Chateaubugs
Open Mail.app, make sure you see the Message Viewer window.
Click on the menu Edit > Attachments and enable
- Always send windows-friendly attachments
- Always insert attachment at the end of the message.
Outlook is not good at showing embedded media content from Mail.app. It likes to have them, where it's expecting them - at the end of a message.
A hint: Make sure you have at least a part of your message (for example your signature) typed before you attach a file to a message. This is because of a small issue when attaching mails at the end of a message: If you have nothing typed, there is no end to attach to. It will fail.

Outlook 2010 and 2013 are unable to connect but OWA (and mail routing) works fine
Hi-
Not sure why but this past Sunday (just after DST adjustment) outlook clients (using 2010 and 2013) were unable to connect to an Exchange 2013 server. OWA and mail routing (internal and external) is working fine. I've even tried on multiple machines
and all of them experience the same issue. On a new machine with a fresh version of outlook 2013 installed here is what happens:
Click on Outlook 2013
Click Next until the account setup is displayed.
Name and email is auto-populated
Established network connection is good
Searching for email address settings is good (once the self-signed exchange 2013 cert is accepted)
And then the logging onto the mail server fails. The first pop-up is:
The Connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action.
Clicking "OK" is followed up with a window with the Microsoft Exchange connection info.
It lists Microsoft Exchange server which is populated with: GUID@<domain suffix>
Mailbox which is populated with: =SMTP:<Valid Email address>
On the Exchange Server I have noticed that the Web Management Service (WMSVC) is stopped and will not start. Starting the service outputs:
EventID 7024
"The Web Management Service terminated with the following service-specific error: Unspecified error"
Not really helpful :)
Since this is only happening with Outlook on multiple clients I'm expecting something with Exchange or the ability for outlook to connect to exchange.
Thanks in advance!Hi
I know this is an old post, but I'm having a very similar issue. I have CU6 installed and all other client connectivity apart from internal Outlook connectivity is working fine. I have distributed the new Self-Signed Certificate and the tested to verify
the clients trust it. I have tried on multiple machine with multiple accounts and none of them connect.
I'm at the stage of reinstalling, but I would rather troubleshoot the problem, just in case ever hit the same wall in the future. I have run Test-OutlookConnectivity with the following output;

I'm using OS 10.6.8 and Mail 4.5. When I receive mails with attachments which are visible the save button doesn't work. And some contacts occasionally have problems opening files sent by me using Mail too. This was never a problem on pre-Intel Mac. A real Mac **** up ! Any ideas ?
Can you drag and drop the attachments visible in the email to the Desktop OK or does that fail ?
Re the sending: Are these recipients on Mac's or PC's as the file type could be an issue, if on Mac's then try setting the Mail Preferences Composing setting to Plain Text not Rich Text and see if that improves things. -
How do we transfer contacts and mails from apple mail and address book to Microsoft outlook on my mac
From Contacts, anyway (the new version of Address Book) you can export to a .abbu file and import then into Outlook. I'm not sure about Mail as I only really use Outlook...
