Outlook Backup Using Online Backup and Share

I just started using online backup and share. I selected the files for automatic backup including my Outlook PST and Archive PST(Outlook) Files. It looks like my archive file backed up but not my main Outlook PST file. Does Outlook need to be closed to have this file backed up?

Outlook does need to be closed in order for that file to be backed up. When Outlook is running, the file is locked as "Open and In Use" meaning until Outlook closes the file, nothing else can open that file.

What is important here is that you know the properties of your source file(s), set the project preset to match the properties of those source files, and then export with settings as close as possible to the original. Often you can do this without noticing quality differences in the export.
I am understanding and defining your issue as you wanting to maintain the quality of the original imported files in the export. If that is the case, the please supply the following, and I will give you a step by step
a. What are the properties of your source files (including bitrate). Here I am looking for
video compression
audio compression
frame size
frame rate
interlaced or progressive
pixel aspect ratio
file extension
A quick way to get that type of information is knowing the brand/model/settings for the camera that recorded the video.
2. Based on that information we can set manually a project preset to match those source property.
3. When we go to export...example Publish+Share/Computer/ and your choice and its preset, we can customize the preset selected
under the Advanced Button/Video Tab and Audio Tab of that preset in order to try for the best possible match between the properties of the
original file and the properties of the export.
But, please let us know if you also need help in trimming the original import at the Timeline level prior to export.
Your mention of Publish+Share suggest that you are working with Premiere Elements 11, 12, or 13. What is the computer operating system?

Why does the iCloud Control Panel say "Install Outlook to use Mail, Contacts, and Calendars?"

I've just successfully installed the iCloud Control Panel on my PC (runs with Vista). Why does the iCloud Control Panel say "Install Outlook to use Mail, Contacts, and Calendars?" The Bookmarks (with Safari) and Photo Stream options are active, but the Mail (with Outlook), Contacts (with Outlook),and Calendars and Tasks (with Outlook) are not. I'm using Office Outlook 2007. I used to be able to synch my iPhone with my PC's Outlook through iTunes without any problems. Any help would be appreciated.

If I use 3rd party mail server with Outlook, Outlook features are the same as Exchange Server ?

The basic features (and many advanced features) are identical in all accounts. With pop3, your mail, calendar, contacts, tasks, notes are stored in a pst and are only on the computer. IMAP accounts only sync email back to the server, not calendar,
contacts, and tasks. Outlook.com EAS accounts (aka Hotmail) syncs calendar and contacts back to the server. Exchange mailboxes stores everything on the server - mail, calendar, contacts, custom views, rules - and if you open the mailbox in outlook on
any other computer, the mailbox is identical. Because everything is on the server, you'll have much better syncing with smartphones and tablets with Exchange mailboxes.
Calendar sharing, open other users folder, and retention policies are Exchange-only. Mail Tips and apps (linked under the reading pane header in Outlook 2013) are Exchange-only.

How to use online backup services with a Mac.

I want to use an online backup service but each one I check out is unable to backup at least one of my key files and perhaps others that I havent tested yet.
I use an old palm pda and a current version of the palm desktop for mac. I'm quite happy with it and have tons of info on it.
But the online backup services store the files on an IBM server and when I restore it to my Macbook I get a Unix. exe file that I cannot use. I cant even import it or open it on a pc (which would be an acceptable solution in case of an emergency).
I really need a good backup solution for all my Mac files.
I've spoke to Apple, Palm and the techs at the online backup services and no one has a solution.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

You are very welcome. I don't think you can do scheduled updates. Apparently what happens is that the update happens whenever anything is changed on the desktop iDisk. No you don't have to recreate the desktop iDisk ever. That is, you can leave it on your desktop continuously. I trashed mine because I don't like to have things working in the background if I don't currently need them. On the other hand if I changed many things in a day, then I'd leave it on the desktop continuously.
If you check out all the MobileMe features, then you might decide that you like it. Your Dock mail program mirrors exactly what is on the MobileMe online mail program. I have to admit that the online program is very slow. But, the on Dock program more than makes up for the deficiency. Back to Mac is a cool feature. And, the online photo album feature is very easy and works well, except that it doesn't seem able to handle animated gifs.

Change filelocation whilst migrating system using online backup (hom. systemcopy)

Situation:
I'm migrating (homogeneous systemcopy) a couple of systems running on windows / oracle to windows / oracle using an online backup created on the source system ((brbackup –c –p initSID.sap –u system/***** -t online) . This backup will be shipped to the target system. I also want to keep and apply the redologs from after this backup to the new target system.
I need to change driveletters:
old      SAPDATA_HOME                   T:
new                                                     X:
old     ORACLE_HOME                      E:
new                                                    G:
old     oraarch                                    P:
new                                                    Y:
Question: Is this possible? What would be my aproach (using swpm).

Hello Marcel,
Note that when you run the target system installation, you will be running a fresh installation, but the only difference will be you will restore the database during the target system installation.
Therefore, you just need to set all new drive letters when SWPM request for them.

Hello, I am trying to set prebackup script for DPM 2012 R2 UR2 on Windows 2003 R2 VM with SQL server 2005 Inside.
I would like to disable SQLVssWriter during the VM backups (in DPM backup of \Online\Servername).
What is the correct format of ScriptingConfig.xml? This is what I have tried but it did not work.

I want to download entair email and want to save this email in database , is it possible suggest me how can I go forward on this, if not possible please suggest some alternative ways to find the solution.
the reason want to store this entair mail is on click on some button I want to open this mail from database in .eml format with attachments if any are there.

Erasing old backups using Thinadvantage backup and restore software

I want to erase 3 old backups on my external USB disk using the Lenovo backup and restore software (T500 with latest Lenovo toolbox and other software.) Everytime I click on "delete" on the line of the backup it goes into "not responding" and forces me to exit the software using the task manager.   The software seems to be hung up, because when I want to disconnect the disk (safely remove hardware) I get a message that "the disk is in use by some software- shut down the software first". OF course, nothing is running so I have to shut down the computer before disconnecting.   When I start up and reconnect the disk, I have problems disconnecting the disk, even if I haven't used it.
Is the problem with the disk or with the software?   Would formatting the disk clear up the problem?

could you try deleting the last backup made on it's own first and when it's finished the others. Sounds a little crazy, but this works on most occasions.

How can I restore events/tasks from a system backup using prefs.fs and local.sqlite?

I accidentally deleted a calendar holding all my thunderbird tasks. I was now able to restore the calendar from my backup. I restored the following files:
* profile-folder/calendar-data/local.sqlite
* profile-folder/prefs.js (here: I did a diff and added only the section of the deleted calendar)
Still no events and tasks are available from the deleted calendar.
The calendar is now available in the Calendar tab.

To restore files from there to your current Mac, see item #16 of that same Tip.

Why can't I restore backup using Time Machine and/or Disk Utility

Backed up my entire computer on a Buffalo Ministation as I need to install new OSX and don't want to lose any files. Tried the handful of options listed in Support to restore and nothing is working. Using Time Machine, the Restore button is greyed out so I can't select it. Using Disk Utility, when adding the source image, the Open button is greyed out so I can't select it. Please help.

We are using Iplanet MS (5.2) with Netscape Dir Server. We are taking backups for mail using imsbackup & LDAP using ldif. We are able to restore User profiles as well as mail boxes but could not restore PAB's entries of users. Can some one guide us for taking right utility/options for the backups

The usual cause of this sort of problem is that when run from cron, you get a default environment, which is not the same as a typical user.
In particular, the PATH and LD_LIBRARY_PATH variables will have default values.
Try running your script as follows:
# PATH=/bin:/usr/bin LD_LIBRARY_PATH="" script.pl
Then work out what you need to add to either PATH or LD_LIBRARY_PATH inside your script to make it work.

GPO For Outlook Certificates Used For Encryption and Digital Signatures?

How can we configure a group policy to distribute certificates to Outlook 2010 users so they can digitally sign and encrypt messages without requiring much effort on their end?

Yes. Here's a good guide. The user will still need to choose to sign, or encrypt, unless you want to enforce that in some way. If you are sending signed or encrypted email outside of your AD, you will need to solve how the recipients will get your root cert,

Backup failure( ONLINE BACKUP)

sap server and oracle database was down because of power failure when on-line
backup was going on.
Next time when restart the sap system then my oracle database was not coming up.

How do i configure outlook for use with icloud and my iphone?

You can't write to it because it's formatted as NTFS which OS X will read but not write to. If you want to continue using the drive with both a PC and OS X you will need to download and install NTFS-3G so you can then write to it from your Mac. You can get NTFS-3G at:

If you want to use the drive exclusively with your Mac then move the data off it and reformat it in Disk Utility (Applications - Utilities - Disk Utilities) as Mac OS Extended (Journaled.)
