Outlook calandar Defaults to do nothing

Palm TX, Windows XP Pro. Outlook 2003. My custom set-up is "synchronize with Outlook calendar". Every time I do a hot sync, it reverts back to DO NOTHING. Everything else synchronizes fine. I keep on changing the custom set up to default to synchronize Outlook calendar. It always changes back to DO NOTHING. Any ideas??
Post relates to: Palm TX

As a follow up to my posting, i tried the Palm Live help, and a very nice young man walked me thru uninstalling and reinstalling both the main palm app, plus the outlook 2007 conduits (even tho I could have told HIM how to do it Along the way we even set up a new user name on the device thinking maybe mine was corrupted, but alas, nothing worked. Last thing he said was to re-download the files I d/l this morning, and go thru the process again. So there are two versions of 4.1.4e for windows out there, and one is about 18MB, the other about 48MB. The first one gets about half way thru the install and consistently hangs and will  never install. The second one hangs too, yet I can eventually get it to install by more slash and burn in the registry, but in any case, neither fixed this problem.
<sigh>
I really don't want to go back to 6.2, but if that's my only choice...

  • Office 2013 click-to-run does not honor deselecting 'Make Outlook the default program' checkbox

We use an email client other than Microsoft Outlook (let's say Thunderbird)
Thunderbird is set as the default mail client for the machine (HKLM\Software\Clients\Mail\(default) set appropriately)
Occasionally, we launch Outlook (but absolutely do not want it as the default mail client for the machine).  About 30 seconds after launching Outlook, we see that the Windows default mail client changes to Microsoft Outlook. The 'Make Outlook the default
program for E-mail, Contacts, and Calendar' checkbox in File->Options is disabled.
Further investigation with ProcMon indicates that a SYSTEM service called integrator.exe starts up about 30 seconds after we launch Outlook.  This service changes the HKLM\Software\Clients\Mail\(default) registry key to be Microsoft Outlook.
We have tested with multiple non-Outlook email clients, and the behavior is always the same.
This only happens on click-to-run installs of Office 2013.  Regular installs of Office 2013 do not have the problem.  Older versions of Outlook do not have the problem.
What can we do to get Outlook to honor the 'Make Outlook the default program' setting?

    Kapaal -
Thanks for your reply.  Your blog post would certainly work if this was just a user-mode app that was making the change, but that's not the case with Office 2013.
The integrator.exe process that is making the change is part of Microsoft's Click-to-Run system.  It runs as a service with local system access, and thus would have full access to the key.  I might be able to lock it down by creating a second system
admin account and playing games with it - but that will make it very difficult to actually change the value when I want it do be changed, and I really shouldn't have to be doing workarounds to prevent Office itself from doing this.

  • Migrating for outlook to t-bird, trying to import mail, error "either there is no default mail client...", I have confirmed that outlook is default, ?

I am migrating from Outlook to Thunderbird.
I have purchased a new computer running windows 8.
I have copied the outlook data file from my old computer to he new computer.
I have installed Thunderbird on my new computer.
I try to import existing email stored in Outlook to Thunderbird.
I get the message "either there is no default mail client..." I have made Outlook the default mail client and have rebooted the computer.
Any way to get thunderbird to recognize the Outlook file?
    Tom

The automatic import routine only works if you have TB and the old program installed on the same machine. If possible, I suggest you install TB on the old computer that currently has Outlook, run the auto-import, and then transfer the TB profile from the old computer to TB on the new machine.

The method I've found that is the simplest and most reliable is to copy the Thunderbird folder from the old machine to the new one:

I just installed firefox 4. Sadly my default theme looks nothing like the one in the video..
    Heres how it looks..

First you need to use the default theme "Default 4.0" in "Tools" > "Add-ons" > "Appearance".
After that, right click the top bar and unckeck "Menu Bar". This will disable the menu bar and show the orange Firefox button.
Make sure you have also "Tabs on top" checked.
I also see you use ChromiFox theme in Firefox 3. If you want to have a similar theme for Firefox 4, you can download the FXChrome theme.

    Hi,
Based on your description, my understanding is that you want to
sync outlook calendar with sharepoint calendar.
You can overlay a SharePoint calendar with a calendar from Exchange, refer to the following articles:

Why is everything so difficult since 'upgrading' to Maverick. I can't sync my Outlook calendar (default) with iCal or my iPad.
Also, I can't send pictures via Dropbox any more. Two basic necessities that I just can't get to work.

Microsoft didn't update Outlook to be Mavericks ready.
I don't really use Dropbox, but if their software doesn't work like it used to, they didn't update it for Mavericks.

  • When I use "Email link" in Firefox, the Outlook message default formatting changes (font, font size, paragraph spacing) - how can I stop this from happening?

In Outlook, my default message format includes the following:
    Font: Arial 10pt font
    Spacing: Before: 0pt, After: 0pt
When I email a link from Firefox, a new message opens, which has the following formatting:
If I type anything before the URL, the formatting is:
    Font: Arial 10pt font
    Spacing: Before: 0pt, After: 0pt
If I type anything after the URL, the formatting is:
Font: Times New Roman 12pt font
    Spacing: Before: Auto, After: Auto
This doesn't happen with Internet Explorer - when emailing a link, my default message format is retained.
Since I email a lot of links for my job, and I prefer to use Firefox, this is a pretty annoying issue!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Michelle
    Outlook 2007
    Firefox 36.0.4

From Firefox, I click on "File' and then 'Email link'.
This results in a new Outlook message opening automatically, with the URL copied into the body of the message.
I then add my own text, see the screenshot image. That's where the formatting problems come in!
    Cheers,
    Michelle

  • Setting Outlook's Default mailbox programaticaly C# Microsoft Outlook Library 14.0

I want to set the user selected domain(from list of domains configured in Outlook) from my application
as Outlook's Default mailbox programaticaly. Is there any function in outlook library 14.0 to set default mailbox from all configured outlook accounts ?
I am using C# and Microsoft Outlook Library 14.0 for Outlook 2010 for my application.

    Hello Sridhar,
The Outlook object model doesn't provide anything for setting the default account in Outlook. These settings are stored in the windows registry. The How
do I get Outlook to actually default new emails to a specific account and not ignore the default setting? forum thread states the following:
Out of the box, Outlook 2010 SP1 and Outlook 2013 use the default account for Send to commands but not for new messages created while viewing a pst file (when a POP account is assigned to the pst file), unless you set a registry value to always force the use
    of the default account.
To force all new messages to use the default email account, regardless of which pst file you are viewing, browse to the following registry subkey in Outlook 2010 and add a DWORD named NewItemsUseDefaultSendingAccount:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Options\Mail
    DWORD value: NewItemsUseDefaultSendingAccount
    Value: 1
In Outlook 2013, the key is:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook\Options\Mail
    DWORD value: NewItemsUseDefaultSendingAccount
    Value: 1
Registry key to force account selection every time
This fix is simple, but can get annoying, fast, since it forces the user to select an account every time they send a new message. (Replies and Forwards always use the account the message arrived on.)
This might be good for people who use multiple accounts and frequently (accidentally) send using the wrong account, especially if they are sending sensitive documents, as it will almost eliminate accidentally sending email from the wrong account.
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\14.0\outlook\options
    Value Name: ForceAccountSelection
Value type: REG_DWORD: 1 for force, 0 to disable.
In Outlook 2013, the registry key is:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\15.0\outlook\options
    Value Name: ForceAccountSelection
Value type: REG_DWORD: 1 for force, 0 to disable.
Also see Outlook 2010 does not honor the default sending account .
    You may also find the
SendUsingAccount property of the MailItem class which allows to set an Account object
that represents the account under which the MailItem is
    to be sent. For example:
    Sub SendUsingAccount()
    Dim oAccount As Outlook.account
    For Each oAccount In Application.Session.Accounts
    If oAccount.AccountType = olPop3 Then
    Dim oMail As Outlook.MailItem
    Set oMail = Application.CreateItem(olMailItem)
    oMail.Subject = "Sent using POP3 Account"
    oMail.Recipients.Add ("[email protected]")
    oMail.Recipients.ResolveAll
    oMail.SendUsingAccount = oAccount
    oMail.Send
    End If
    Next
    End Sub

  • How to make Outlook the default mail sender?

I always thought Apple made a huge mistake in make internet preferences be in program (Mail, Safari, etc) instead of Internet control panel that had all those and others in one place. This is one of those things I find Windows (default apps, file types) makes more sense and easier to configure.

  • Using Outlook as default email client doesn't work in one important way

I'm using Outlook 2011 as my default email client, and have set it in all the places I can, as the default email client. It works as I want in almost every place - eg clicking links in websites opens an Outlook email - so that's great.
BUT I often want to right-click a file and send as an email attachment. Using 'Compress and Email' or just plain 'Email' (added by customising the context-menu) opens up Apple Mail - which I haven't even set up. This is very frustrating, and makes the job of sending a file by email direct from within the Finder much more clumsy.
Any ideas on how I can invoke Outlook in this way will be much appreciated, thanks.
    Jeff

Sorry guys... I'm a recent mac-switcher, and was immediately frustrated by the (apparent) lack of features in the Finder. Sorry! Now I'm utilising Pathfinder, which I have come to love - and of course those context menus are in there, not in Finder. So it seems likely that the problem lies within the Pathfinder app, rather than OSX. Your comments have illuminated the blindingly obvious for me. Sorry!
As a matter of interest; how do YOU quickly email a file out, when you've located it in a Finder window?
    Thanks
