Outlook calendar or google calendar on iphone?

Hi,
I am trying to decide whether to use Google Calendar or Outlook Calendar to synch to my iphone 4. Does one function better than the other on the iphone? It would be particularly helpful for me to be able to synch more than 1 calendar.

lbarsness,
It is possible to sync both an Outlook Calendar and a Google Calendar to your iPhone.
See http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=138740&topic=14252 for instruction on syncing your Google Calendar along with your Gmail and Google Contacts.
So sync your Outlook Calendar, you will have to make sure what ever mail/calendar account your using is accessible through Microsoft Exchange and that remote access is enabled.  If it is a work account, often times employers do not allow remote access through unapproved mobile devices.  The best way to find out is to go into your Outlook under Tools > Accounts and click "Edit" for the account you want.
I find that both are equally functional on the iPhone.  You can set a default calendar in your iPhone settings and when you add a new event can choose which calendar you want to add it on.

  • Just want to sync Outlook calendar and Iphone without paying extra $$

I am currently using Mobile Me trial membership to sync my Outlook Calendar and Iphone calendar. Just that only -- I don't want to sync my Outlook e-mail or contacts with my phone. But I don't want to pay $99 for for Mobile Me after the free trial runs out in October.
Will I have to pay to sync?
I need to sync them a couple times a day, it has to be secure, and I don't want to do it manually with a wire.
    Any advice?

    Jon,
I could connect the cord and sync each night, but that's too difficult to remember.
That's how I did it for a year with the first iPhone. It wasn't that bad.
Still, over the air synching is pretty cool, especially if you update your calendar throughout the day and always want the latest information on the phone.

  • How can I sync my outlook calendar with iPhone or calendar on Maverick?

I have just updated to Mavericks on my iMac. I use Microsoft Outlook for email, contacts and calendars. How do I now sync these on my iPhone ?
The only sync seems to be via iCloud, this is sharing calendar and contacts on the iMac but if I make any calendar additions to the outlook calendar it doesn't copy to the phone or the iMac calendar and similarly if I add an item to the phone calendar it syncs to the iMac calendar but doesn't copy to outlook.

    1. Apple has removed sync services in OS X Mavericks. Therefore, you cannot sync Outlook 2011 with Contacts or Calendar.
    2. Apple has removed the ability to sync through iTunes in OS X Mavericks, so that, even if you use Contacts and Calendar on the Mac, you can only sync them with your iPhone through iCloud, thus exposing all your contacts and calendar information to the mercies of the Web.
    3. Microsoft does not not support CalDAV and CardDAV in Outlook, so there is no way to sync directly through iCloud, except perhaps by setting up a Microsoft Exchange account.
    4. Apple makes it extremely difficult (virtually impossible) to revert to a version of OSX that is earlier than OS X Mavericks once Mavericks is installed.
In short, we are screwed and neither company seems to care.

  • View Outlook Calendar on iPhone In Day, Week, Or Month Views--NOT As A List

I apologize in advance if this has been asked already but couldn't find the answer after an extensive search.
My question is, after syncing my Outlook calendar to the iPhone, how can I view my appointments other than as a list in the iPhone? I would like to view my appointments in either day, week, or month views as opposed to only knowing what my next two or three appointments are. To me it just seems like a simple setting I'm overlooking somewhere. I appreciate any help you can afford
    Thanks in advance,
    -V5

*iPhone calendar views are a joke!*
My 90's Palm Vx had far more usable views via Pimlico Software. The gray scale display with poor resolution was able to show one or even two weeks with appointment texts.
What does iPhone have? List view is the best there is. One sees all appointments with only just scrolling. Day view is terrible. The whole day should be visible without scrolling for it to be at least somewhat efficient. Now one has to first select a day with arrows and after that scroll thru the day and after that select another day and scroll again. No way. Month view is very poorly designed! The grid takes way too much space and who decided to put the appointment list in the bottom of the screen when one's index finger blocks it if sliding thru days in the grid!!! Oh man!!! Unlock the landscape view and please make the grid a little bit smaller and please place the appointment list on the left or at least on the right side. And make its font way smaller! No point in seeing two appoinments without scrolling.
iPhone's wonderful screen would be able to show one or two weeks with written appointments in a list like manner especially landscape. I mean seven columns titled Mo-Su and all appointments listed in that day's column.
Hopefully SDK will let someone else do it if Apple won't.
And we have to get to copy appointments and paste them to other days also. I am spending 30 min writing the same info one at a time to our monthly plan. Everyone else is already having a cup of coffee.

  • Outlook Calendar to iPhone Syncing Issue - Event Alerts

When my outlook calendar events sync to my iphone 4, the event gives me an alert 15 minutes before the event.  I checked, and there is no alert set on my outlook calendar, and on the iphone I have set the default alert to none for calendar events.  Why would the synced event give me a 15 minute alert, when I created the event in outlook to not alert me?

    Craig:
Very odd - what kind of system are you running?
    Mac or PC?
When I first got my iPhone 3Gs about 18 months ago I was having trouble with the sync-ing of calendars and found that events that DID repeat "forever" were the problem. After changing them to only repeat for (say) one year's worth of time (weekly meetings) or about 10 years (annual events) everything worked OK.
It appeared that if there were too many entries that the sync. broke. For example I have one uncle born in 1912 (yeah he's seen a few things in his life...) and his birthday would not sync at all until I lied and said he was born in 1972 (other dates might have worked also I just lost motiviation for trying to pin-point the problem -- I had a support case open with Apple but they were never able to explain the behavior .... just that (after I figured it out) "ummm yeah, that's the way it works" ....

  • How to solve sync problem between Outlook calendar and iPhone when reminder is set to _some_ non-standard values?

    Hi,
I am having a sync problem between my iPhone/iPad and Outlook calendar events (Outlook 2010).
Here is the description of the problem:
    1. In Outlook - please create a new event/appointment (e.g. "Test").
    2. Reminder is set by default to 15 minutes. You can change it by using a dropdown menu - please select: "0,5 days".
    3. Click on "0,5 days" and change it manually to "14,5 days".
    4. Click on "Save & Close".
    5. (Do not snooze or dismiss the reminder.)
    6. Sync with your iPhone/iPad.
    7. Open this new event on iPhone/iPad - you can see that alert is set to "15 minutes before" instead to a correct value that was set in Outlook.
The same problem can be seen if you set the reminder to e.g. "3 weeks" (standard value is "2 weeks").
However, it is interesting that non-standard values like "1,5 days" (and all other until "13,5 days") are synced without any problem.
Does anyone have a solution how to solve this problem (different than the trivial solution of not using those strange values)?
    Thanks!

Thanks to another post (https://discussions.apple.com/message/17501071#17501071) I reset the sync history, here is what to do:
    Launch iTunes.
Before you hook up your iPhone to the PC and iTunes do this: Go to iTunes Edit menu > Preferences… > select the iPhone > click the Reset Synch History button > click OK.
Connect the iPhone to the PC and let iTunes recognize it.
In the top right corner is the iPhone icon, click on the left side of the iPhone icon > the iPhone menu launches.
In the menu along the top click on Info > make your selections > click Sync button > it gives you a dialog at the top with the steps it’s going through during the sync.
In the top left of the iTunes app > click Exit.

  • Synchronizing multiple outlook calendars to Iphone 3G

I need to synchronise multiple outlook calendars to an Iphone 3G. When I look in iTunes I can only choose synchronise all calendars and the option select calendars is not available. It's on a Windows 7 64-bits laptop with Office 2010 installed. It worked on a windows 7 32-bits laptop with Office 2010 (or that's what the person is saying). Has anyone a solution for my problem? Thanks in advance.

  • Sync 2 Outlook Calendars to iPhone

Help! I have 2 outlook calendars and I want to sync them both to my 3GS via iTunes, but when you go into the info tab when the iPhone is connected it only shows the default Outlook calender.
Anyone know how to make the second calendar display through iTunes so I can sync both?
    Thanks

I am afraid you cannot - there is only a single Calendar available with the Exchange functionality.
I too would like this as I have to access several corporate accounts, each with Exchange functionality.
You can sedn your fedback to Apple here http://www.apple.com/feedback/ and the more the merrier, and the better chance we have of achieving this.

  • Sharing outlook calendar on iphone

I have an iPhone 5; my husband has a 4. We share his Outlook calendar as he gets various OT jobs and I have to schedule around them.
Lately, whenever he adds an OT job, it does not show up on my phone. The calendar is still on my phone, checkmarked and active. In fact, a recurring appointment does show up on my phone. But new OT jobs do not.
I am frustrated trying to get this to work. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

  • Sharing select ms outlook calendars with iphone users

I use MS Outlook (on Windows PC) and use iphone where I have my calendar synced with outlook via iCloud.
I would like to share some select calendars with some people who also have iphone and icloud account.
How do I have them view these select calendars while not all my calendars ?
    Many thanks,
    Peter

You have to use a computer - not possible to do on iPhone that I know of - grant access and then the recipient will be able to view - but again will need full Outlook functionality - not possible on the phone - (well I have not tried to use the new Outlook app)

  • How do I sync Outlook calendar with iPhone?

I am using Outlook 2011 on my laptop for my yahoo account. I receive all mail via Outlook and I use the calendar feature on Outlook as well. I set up the yahoo account also on my iPhone 4. I have no problems receiving/sending emails but I cannot figure out how to [wirelessly] sync the calendar from Outlook to the iPhone. Does anyone know if it can be done? And if so, how?  Thank for the help.

Synchronization of calendars between Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 and your Apple iPhone or iPod touch requires Apple iTunes. You can configure which items are synchronized during a one-time set up process. Good luck with your Mac!
After the initial setup, each time that you connect your iPhone or iPod touch to your computer, the changes made on your computer or device are synchronized.
Connect your iPhone or iPod touch to your computer using the cable provided with your device or by placing the iPhone or iPod touch in the Apple Universal Dock.
iTunes opens automatically when connected to your computer.
In iTunes, in the source list, under Devices, click the entry for your iPhone or iPod touch.
    Click the Info tab.
Under Calendars, click Sync calendars from, and then click Outlook.
    Do one of the following:
To synchronize all calendars, click All calendars.
To limit the calendars that are synchronized, click Selected calendars, and then click the calendars you want to synchronize.
NOTE   To select multiple calendars, press CTRL as you click each calendar name.
    Click Apply.

  • Sync SHARED Outlook calendar with iPhone (possible fix!)

    Hey all,
My business uses a shared calendar in Microsoft Outlook 2007. Our personal calendars sync fine. However, the shared calendar does not appear in iTunes.
POSSIBLE FIX: If you create a local copy of the shared calendar by clicking and dragging from Public Folders to Calendar in Outlook, it will appear in iTunes and will sync.
QUESTION: How do I automate this process, so that a local copy is created whenever the shared calendar is updated?

  • Need to synch two outlook calendars with iphone via exchange

I get my work email via an exchange server and read it at work and on my laptop using entourage.
It's great, the exchange server works really well (we just moved from lotus) and all of my email is synching beautifully across two computers and my iphone.
But for my calendar issues. I run my boss'es calendar from my lap top and computer, and I read it via entourage. I have permissions to read/write/edit etc.... as does he. But when I synch via exchange only my calendar is shown, not his. I use ical for me, and not the entourage calendar. But I am constantly referring to his, adding, deleting, etc. I'd like to be able to do this on my iphone.
So can I do this? So my email, etc, but his calendar via exchange. On his machine, he reads his email and his calendar.
I tried to set up a separate exchange account on iphone and only one is allowed. If I could do this, problem solved.
Surely I'm not the only person to need to do this?
    thank you
