Outlook Calendar Timezone bug

I am having an issue with displaying the time on the calendar after the daylight saving apply to the Pacific Timezone.
I have Outlook Version 14.0.7113.5005 (32-bit) installed on the Window 7 32 bit machine.
I tried the Time Zone Daylight Saving Update Tool that Microsoft provided, but it doesn't seem like it works for me.
Anyone have an idea on how to solve this issue?
Thanks.

Hi,
First please make sure your Windows and Office are both fully patched.
I also suggest you confirm that the time zone settings for your computer's system clock and your Outlook Calendar are the same.

  • Outlook Calendar Agenda bug?

Clicking the option to display tasks in Outlook calendar agenda view will work until the device is reset. Though the option is still checked, the tasks don't show up. I must go into option unclick the option, save, then click the option, then save, before tasks will show up in again in calendar agenda view. Only to disappear again when the device is reset (most of the time, not with all resets).
Anyone else have this problem, or better yet, a solution?
    Thanks.

  • Syncing iPhone and Outlook Calendar - bug?

I have an issue syncing my iPhone 3G Calendar with Outlook’s Calendar (Outlook 2007). In general, the sync works fine, but: If I delete the current (ie first) instance of a repeating event in Outlook, when I sync, my iPhone will still display ALL instances of that event, including the ‘deleted’ one.
I have verified that this is because the iPhone is syncing the event based on its start date in Outlook, which will include the ‘deleted’ event, rather than what actually is shown as still a valid event in the calendar (which of course is what I want).
I am guessing that this is just because both manufacturers are pursuing a different methodology, but the bottom line is that iPhone claims it will sync properly, so I’d call it a bug.
I have a workaround, in that I can delete events from the Outlook calendar by changing the start date to the current one I wish to display, but this is cumbersome and of course takes more time. Is there a more elegant workaround? Or am I just doing something wrong?

When you decide to sync the second computer to the iphone, itunes will ask you if you want to merge or replace the data.
In the merge, data will be transfered both ways.
So, when you say separate, you can sync them one at a time, but in the end, all the events will be the same on both computers and iphone. Because itunes keeps merging the data.

  • Outlook 2003 Calendar syncing bug fixed!

Since Apple has refused to acknowledge this major bug in Itunes 7.7 - iPod Touch 2.0, I decided to solve the problem myself.
As you all know. The new Apple software and firmware upgrades have destroyed the syncing of Outlook Calendars with both the iPhone and iPod. Syncing calendars doesn't work anymore.
I use my iPod Touch/Outlook Calendars everyday for my work. I need my calendars to be in sync always.
Here is what I am doing to solve the problem - and it seems to work. Test it yourself.
    1. Open Outlook 2003 or 2007.
    2. Go to the Calendar tab.
    3. Find a Calendar appointment or event that is not syncing correctly with your iPod Touch.
    4. Make note of the details of the appointment - date, duration, recurring etc.
    5. Write these details on a scrap of paper.
    6. Store the paper in your wallet.
    I joke - but I'm getting mad.

As much as I love my iPod Touch, this problem syncing with Outlook 2003 -- and the failure of Apple to acknowledge it (at least there's nothing I've seen so far) -- has me ready to toss it out my office window. It all seems so random: Sometimes it's fine and the sync woriks, sometimes it's producing multiple versions of an appointment, and sometimes the appointment gets deleted from Outlook, the iPod or both. Looks like I actually do need a paper backup!! This is the second time that updating my iPod Touch has resulted in a major slip in functionality. The last time I was told that by an insider that Apple engineers dislike having to work out bugs with Windows, that they don't like Windows. Are we being punished? This is seriously annoying.

  • Itunes/Outlook Calendar Syncing Issue - UTF-8 Flavor

I have had the usual and much discussed issue of outlook calendar does not sync with iTunes. The recommendations have been to remove iTunes and re-install, even blow away all the configuration files as well, and it even worked for me once. But not this time.
I was running Windows XP, and all of a sudden the Outlook 2007 calendar just stopped syncing. I upgraded from XP to 8.1, and that was not fun, but inevitable, and still didn’t correct the problem. Now, if you never upgraded from XP to 8.1 – you can’t – at least it is not a direct flight. First, you have to upgrade from XP to 8.0, then from 8.0 to 8.1, and there is no upgrade in place from XP to 8.0. So what does an upgrade in place mean? Your applications and profiles are not carried over. Just your data (if you ask nicely) is carried over – but all applications have to be re-installed from scratch, and reactivated if there was license activation.
So, forget about re-install of iTunes, I changed OS, reinstalled iTunes and Office 2007 from scratch. And still had the syncing problem. So, I wasn’t getting off easy.
In searching, I found some debugging stuff which I tried, as follows to turn on logging:
    So, I ran the following:
    cd C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\
    defaults write com.apple.Outlook.client.exe ShouldLog YES
    defaults write -globalDomain SyncServicesLogEverything YES
    defaults write -globalDomain SyncServicesLogPersonalInfo YES
And this turned on a lot of tracing. The tracing helped me understand what was going on under the covers, But I am not sure I was getting enough of the information that I needed to really zero in on the bad record.
Now, I will pause and provide some observation of my specific Sync.
An iTunes Sync on a Windows machine when using Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer is selected on the INFO tab of the page for the device.
Selections include Contacts, Calendars, Bookmarks and Notes.
One of the programs involved with Outlook Synchronization is: com.apple.Outlook.client.exe
The program is called when Outlook data needs to be accessed, and is used for contacts, calendar and notes when those items are paired between the iDevice and Outlook. Bookmarks are usually paired with the browser, for example IE.
During the sync operation, each of these are sync’d separately, that is why if you follow the sync actions, iTunes will reflecting what is being synced at the moment, for example “syncing contacts”.
When syncing the calendar, and iTunes is running a slow sync, it reads the Outlook calendar using the com.apple.Outlook.client.exe and does processing of the recursion and time zone information.
    For example, for recurrence:
    [5484 @ Tue Jul 01 10:30:59 2014] [YSLog com.apple.Outlook.client.exe] Setting recurrence data <04300430 0d200200 000000ae 06000c00 00000000 00000400 00002120 0000e703 00000000 00000000 00000000 0000a0e7 980cc016 d10c0630 00000830 00000000 0000a005 00000000 00000000 00000000>
    [5484 @ Tue Jul 01 10:30:59 2014] [YSLog com.apple.Outlook.client.exe] 0 recurrence exceptions
    [5484 @ Tue Jul 01 10:30:59 2014] [YSLog com.apple.Outlook.client.exe] Reading the Extended Exception Info (i.e. Unicode data)
    [5484 @ Tue Jul 01 10:30:59 2014] [YSLog com.apple.Outlook.client.exe] Done making compatible recurrence
    For example, for timezone:
[5484 @ Tue Jul 01 10:30:43 2014] [YSLog com.apple.Outlook.client.exe] Could not create a time zone from outlook name, tried using name (GMT-05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada)
Then the calendar entries are pushed, for example:
    ca965dbc4717d9488fafc9266f1f829304082700 =     {
            "all
    day" = 1;
            calendar
    =         (
                ca965dbc4717d9488fafc9266f1f829382800000
    "com.apple.outlook.freebusy" = Free;
    "com.apple.syncservices.RecordEntityName" = "com.apple.calendars.Event";
            "end date" = "2020-05-11 12:00:00 +0000";
            location = "United States";
            "start date" = "2020-05-10 12:00:00 +0000";
            summary = "Mother's Day";
So, my SYNC fails, and I crash and burn with:
[5484 @ Tue Jul 01 10:41:22 2014] [_ISDVLog com.apple.Outlook.client.exe] SyncServices assertion failure (nil != strUTF8) in [(null) (null)], SDLogging.m:641 could not obtain UTF-8 flavor of formatted string
    [5484 @ Tue Jul 01 10:41:23 2014] [YSLog com.apple.Outlook.client.exe] objcMain caught an exception:
    name
    NSInternalInconsistencyException
    reason     : [(null)
(null)]: could not obtain UTF-8 flavor of formatted string
    user info  : (null)
    call stack : (
Now I’m back. So, during the extract and push of the outlook calendar entries, iTunes is building formatted strings. Now, Unicode is usually 16 bit (2 characters) Unicode, sometimes called double byte code. UTF-8 is single byte, so realize you can’t squeeze 16 bits into a 8 bit byte. However, you could if the Unicode string only contained characters that were valid for the UTF-8 character set. My interpretation of the error message above was that somewhere a formatted character string contained a “non-UTF-8” character and raised the assertion. Now, my issue with the excessive detailing from the logs was that – at least with the logging parameters I had turned on – I couldn’t figure out which calendar entry caused the exception to be thrown.
First instinct was  that the last calendar entry in the trace was the culprit, so I deleted that calendar entry, ran again, the sync went up to the previous entry, and threw the exception. This gives me two theories: Either the sync was processing the next entry – which wasn’t printed in the trace yet – and failed, or the sync was going back to previous records – like reviewing the buffer. In either case, the trace wasn’t helping and it was all theories.
Now what? What has everyone been saying? Issues with recurrence. And in the trace, as you see above as an example, “0 recurrence exceptions”, “reading the extended exception info (i.e. Unicode data)”.
Now, I have no clue what that means. My initial guess was that recurrence exceptions (I had non-zeros on some) was an error. But further research I realized what it could mean was that these were situations where there were recurrence exceptions. What is a recurrence exception? Suppose I want to schedule a meeting on the 4th day of the month, for every month of the year. Well, except maybe July 4th, because it is a holiday and the office is closed. I would send the meeting invite, and then a cancellation for the July 4th. (I hear there is no simple way to do this). I now have an exception because I broke the recurrence chain. Other forms of exceptions is if I keep changing the location, or the body of the invite – e.g. every month I update the agenda, but only for one recurrence, not the entire series.
So, keep in mind,  that if the issue is conversion to a UTF-8 character, and it is failing, then uninstall/reinstall of anything is not going to help if the real issue at hand is the data in Outlook and is not a coding or configuration issue. Now, sometimes it is an issue, but you need to see why the syncserver tasks are failing, and may fail due to other reasons including other data issues.
So, what did I do? Well IO have 15K calendar entries, which, was taking an hour or two to slow sync (I call it a slow dance) and I was, spending days (maybe a couple of weeks) trying to fix this – and frustration was on the high end.
I removed some of my older recurrences, and changed others from never expire to like 25 maximum occurrences. No idea which one worked, or even if it was a coincidence. However, the UTF-8 error went away, and then I moved to the next issue.
Now, before we get there, with outlook 2007 finding recurrences is not difficult. Go into the calendar, and select appointment or list view (Outlook 2013 list view works ok). You can then sort on the recurrence column and see which (if any) items gave a recurrence pattern. Now maybe someone can figure out specific BAD calendar items that are throwing the exception to give us a better idea of what to look for and then report it so we can do further research.
Now, once we can get the issue out of the way, stop iTunes from throwing an exception, we are not 100% done yet. By this time what is in Outlook and on the iDevice is out of sync. We need to get that message to popup asking us if we want to merge the data between the iDevice and Outlook. This can be important if you don’t want to lose data. My issue is that with iTunes 11.2.2 for some reason won’t do it, i.e. when I select “reset sync history” it doesn’t work. At that point I was forced to rename my iTunesprefs, the syncserver folder, and a few other folders. In this case, for Windows 7 and later, the folders in “Apple Computer” of both the local and roaming paths, and I had to cancel running tasks that had those folders open. One way or another, you want the iTunes message asking if you want to merge the folders.
What can you do to help?
Report success or failures using the information above
Report if you are getting the same UTF-8 message, or if you are seeing other exceptions
Report specific cases of calendar entries that you find that you have isolated to be throwing an exception
Report any other logging/tracing parameters that you may find. It looks like you can turn on “ShouldLog” using the defaults.exe command for other tasks that iTunes runs.
This syncing issue has been going on for years, under different iTunes versions, there has to be something going on and an easier way to troubleshoot this problem. I wish I had the time, but right now I fixed the problem I had and was able to resync my Outlook with my two iPads and iPhone.
The only issue I have left at the moment is the message “the ipad xxx cannot be synced. An unknown error occurred (-54). – despite this error message, I am syncing, but the message is distracting and annoying.

Yes - both have time zone support and are set to London/GMT
The most recent of these aberrations was not even crossing a DST change - just a simple recurring event (which I've manually changed to single events by copy/paste).
I just tried a new one which goes back 1 hr 27 Oct - when UK clocks go back. As it's a dummy apt I'll leave it and see if if goes back to the correct time on 27 Oct! In the meantime, I can't afford for my appts to get screwed up so will continue to do them manually!
    Thanks for your input.

  • Problem synching iPod and Outlook calendars

When I sync my iPod (Gen5 60GB) and Outlook calendars, I get a time discrepancy starting October 29, 2006 (the day DST ends). All appointments on my iPod calendar display 1 hour later than in Outlook.
Has anyone else had/solved this problem?
    HP Pavilion   Windows XP Pro

Yes I am having the same issue. I wish I had not upgraded to 7 because not only I am not able to synch contact (all of them and calendar) I also lost all playlists, movies, original contacts, etc. I cannot reach anyone in phone support and the "genuises" in the store don't have a clue except that they know there are bugs! Why release the **** thing if there are significant problems?
I hope someone has a solution!!

  • Outlook Calendar invite - Not able to send from exchange server.

    Hi,
I am not able to send outlook calendar invite from exchange server. But if i installed outlook on my local machine/server it works fine. Below code the i used to build calendar invite for your reference.

    Hi
It is probably that the stuff you doing is for outlook and because outlook is not installed it cannot find the classes.
Hope this helps. Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.

  • Outlook Calendar entries not complete on E72

I am syncing all of my work Outlook with my E72 OK.  Contacts, Mail, and Calendar are used a lot.  But I cannot read all of the text that is pasted in to the detail box in an Outlook Calendar entry on my PC once it has come across to the E72.  The first few lines are fine but the text ends with a series of .... indicating that there is more to read but it is not available to see.  Is there something that I can do?

Doesn't anyone know the answer to this issue? It seems a quite strange and stupid bug in the software so i cannot believe this cannot be solved in an Apple.
    Thanks.

  • Fix calendar timezones for appointments made prior to timezone change?

I have been tasked with building some new Citrix servers.
One of our test users is in another time zone and was using our old citrix environment.
He had a number of appointments that he had made in his calendar.
For some reason the policy I had set for taking the time zone information from the clients system did not take effect and as he was the only outside tester, he didn't tell me for nearly a week.
Now I have the policy working in Citrix, and the time zone is working for all NEW appointments  - however all OLDER appointments made prior, including the ones that were set on the OLD citrix system (which was not having the time zone problem) are all
stuck to the local time zone of our main branch.
Is there a powershell command or exchange setting I can set for this individual to retro-actively re-set all his calendar objects back to his appropriate time zone?
Our environment: Mix of Server 2012 R2 and Server 2008 R2
    Email Server: Exchange 2010
    Email/Calendar Client: Outlook 2010

It's alright, just before the end of my shift last night I found a "solution"
There is a tool offered by Microsoft to that will allow the user to fix settings for their outlook in relation to time zone. Once installed it has two options - 1) User is permanent moved to a new time zone, and 2) Time zone fix patch.  It
was a matter of choosing the first option, selecting the incorrect timezone, selecting the correct time zone, and it completed it in no time.
Its difficult to explain, but it worked - at least it fixed his outlook calendar.
The app is called Microsoft Office Outlook Time Zone Move
    64 bit -
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/download/details.aspx?id=16271
    32 bit -
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/download/details.aspx?id=17291
It installs to the start menu.
As I our users connect to server via Citrix, it was necessary for me to do this on the connecting/destination server itself where the application is hosted.
You will also need to be logged in and run this AS THE AFFECTED USER, with administrative rights (right click, run as administrator). Even though it gives you an option to select a user, it didn't work right for me.
Also note, I had tracked down the GPO that was causing a bit of a flip flop with my Citrix settings in regards to time zone redirection - it was located in a GPO that was at a higher level with timezone redirection turned to disabled,  I had it enabled
in the GPO governing our terminal servers, and the setting was active in Citrix Delivery Sevices Console. What resulted was the time zone flip flopping between Central Standard Time (where our servers are located) and Eastern Time (where this client was located).
This was happening for a day or two until I figured this out. Really didn't make any sense because order of operations should have had it work or not work, not bounce somewhere in between.  Set the time zone redirection to not-configured
in the offending GPO, and blamo. It's been working solid for the client for the past 5 hours now and he says the issue is fixed, so I'm chalking it up to that as its really the only thing I've changed so far.

  • How can I sync my work outlook calendar to a separate 'work' ICloud calendar?

    Hello everyone,
I have been trying to work out how to keep my 'work' calendar separate to my 'family' calendar. I have an Outlook calendar at work, and would really like to have it shown in my iCloud as a work calendar, and keep it separate from my family calendar, cause I don't want everyone at work to see what my family plans are at the weekend
The problem is that if I sync my Outlook calendar at work using iTunes, it will sync it to my main iCloud calendar where all my family entries are, and this will 'publish' all my private calendar entries at work....
Anyone managed to set this up so that they can be synced separately. This would be really cool.
    Thanks,
    Aaron.

When you connect your iPad in iTunes, click on your iPad below "DEVICES", then click the tab "Info" and define on that page what you want to do.

  • Entries made in Sprint BB 8330 will not sync to Outlook Calendar

I just got a Sprint BB 8330 and have set up 2-way sync for Outlook Calendar, Tasks, Memos & Address Book. The 2-way sync works for Tasks, Memos and Address Book except the Outlook Calendar. The Outlook Calendar syncs to the BB but entries made on the BB do not sync back onto the Outlook Calendar. I traded my Sprint Treo which worked perfectly with 2-way syncs on my Dell laptop using XP for this SmartPhone which isn't doing what it is said to do.  I have done quit a bit of research on this and found that this problem is happening to a lot of other users. We should file a class action suit against Blackberry since it is a common problem and they seem to being nothing to fix it that I have found but they keep on selling them.  Thanks for your help.

Open up your Desktop Manager, then go to Synchronize/Configuration/Configure Sync. In there, you will find that you are only allowing synchronization one way...from your desktop to your BB. You can configure your synchronization from that screen so that it is bi-directional.

  • DM 4.6 will not sync with Outlook Calendar

Using Windows XP SP3, Outlook 2003, BB Pearl 8130.  Used DM 4.3 for nearly a year without issue.  Just upgraded to DM 4.6.  During sync, DM will read addresses, tasks, and memos, and appears to read the calendar from the device, but when it gets to reading the Outlook Calendar, I get "program has encountered an error and must shut down".  I uninstalled 4.6, tried 4.5, then back to 4.3 but exact same issue with each version now.  I can change the settings in sync to skip sync of calendar and all is well.  But as soon as I check calendar in settings, same issue.  I have uninstalled and re-installed several times.  I even wiped the device (typical answer from Verizon).  USB cable is on back of laptop, not hub.  Any advice?

yes, there is a speed gap between 4.3 (fast) and 4.5/4.6 (slow).

I just wanted to let you know that I'm having the same problem with my 8120 and it started on the 18th.  I spent 3 hours, 39 minutes, and 42 seconds on the phone with BB support yesterday with no luck and we tried every trick they could think of.  I'll certainly let you know if I find any information since I too can't live without my calendar.

  • Outlook calendar prompts for reminder in wrong folder?

    Running Outlook 2013 (15.0.4615.1000) cached mode with Exchange 2007 SP3 U13.
A user will create an appt on their Outlook Calendar then try to change the appt time by dragging the appt box. They will get the following -
Why is the user getting this prompt when it is their own calendar?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Is it the default calendar of the user's Exchange account?
Please first try to run the outlook.exe /cleanreminders command to check if this issue is caused by corrupt reminder. To do this, press Windows key + R to open the Run command, type
    outlook.exe /cleanreminders and press Enter.
If we are talking about a issue happened in archives and other pst files, please have a look at the following article:
