Outlook Connector - Cannot share calendars

OK,
I am using the outlook connector sucessfully with the calendar server, messaging server and directory manager. I can collect mail and access the GAL without problem but I am not able to share my calendar with anyone nor view other shared calendars.
To share my calendar with another user I right click on my calendar and go to properties and then the permissions tab. On clicking the Add User button I can enter the userid or search.
If I click search I am able to access the GAL list and select a user. From my directory server logs I can see this action like so:
[05/Apr/2006:14:01:43 +0100] conn=3017 op=0 msgId=1 - BIND dn="uid=jberry,dc=mydomain,dc=com" method=128 version=3
[05/Apr/2006:14:01:43 +0100] conn=3017 op=0 msgId=1 - RESULT err=0 tag=97 nentries=0 etime=0 dn="uid=jberry,dc=mydomain,dc=com"
[05/Apr/2006:14:01:48 +0100] conn=3017 op=5 msgId=6 - SRCH base="uid=aname,dc=myname,dc=com" scope=0 filter="(&(mail=*)(cn=*))" attrs="cn displayName givenName sn initials uid departmentNumber title homePhone mail manager mobile company pager secretary description facsimileTelephoneNumber l physicalDeliveryOfficeName postalCode st street c telephoneNumber mailAlternateAddress objectClass"
[05/Apr/2006:14:01:48 +0100] conn=3017 op=5 msgId=6 - RESULT err=0 tag=101 nentries=1 etime=0]So the search binds to the directory using the uid of my user and returns the required search result (i.e. uid=aname).
Now, when you check your permissions and click OK to add that user as someone who can view your caledar for example it fails with the error message:
User not found. Either enter the email id of the user OR click on Search and then click on Find to locate the user
In the logs for the directory you now get the following:
[05/Apr/2006:14:02:48 +0100] conn=3018 op=0 msgId=1 - BIND dn="" method=128 version=2
[05/Apr/2006:14:02:48 +0100] conn=3018 op=0 msgId=1 - RESULT err=0 tag=97 nentries=0 etime=0 dn=""
[05/Apr/2006:14:02:48 +0100] conn=3018 op=1 msgId=2 - SRCH base="dc=mydomain,dc=com" scope=2 filter="(uid=auser)" attrs="cn uid mail givenName sn icsCalendar"
[05/Apr/2006:14:02:48 +0100] conn=3018 op=1 msgId=2 - RESULT err=0 tag=101 nentries=0 etime=0
[05/Apr/2006:14:02:48 +0100] conn=3018 op=2 msgId=3 - UNBINDSo now, for whatever reason, the connector is trying to bind anonymously to make the changes when anonymous bind is not permitted. Surely it should try and bind with my uid as it did when I searched the GAL to get the data...
... or am I looking at this the wrong way?
oh, I can share a calendar through the web interface and it will synch back down to the connector fine, and once a user is there I can change the permissions I can grant that user through the connector.
(p.s. sorry for the sill wide post)
Thanks
Josh

Check you have configured everything as mentioned in the following URL:
http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-2568/6n4rm7fit?a=view
See the following section:
"Shared Calendar LDAP Lookup Configuration"
Pay attention to the fact that you need the following set in ics.conf:
service.wcap.userprefs.ldapproxyauth = "yes"
Let us know if you still have problems. BTW: What build of the connector are you running? You can find this out by selecting "Help -> About Sun Java System Connector for Microsoft Outlook". The build number is given in the top right hand corner of the about window. ie. 7.1.222.4.

  • Outlook connector problem with Calendar server

    Hi
    I wanted to use MS outlook as the email client for my sun messaging sytem. For this I have downloaded one program, when I run it , it has created a configurable program folder. • Outlook Connector and shared calendar

    Hi.
    Looking for some help troubleshooting an issue with shared calendar functionality from Outlook using the Connector.
    All server bits are JES-R2. Connector version is 6.0.129.
    Connector is working for the most part, but when I try to subscribe to another users calendar from Outlook it is failing. Even when I do a search, and pick the user from the list, the lookup fails to return the user and I get "User not found. Either enter the email id of the user OR click on Search and then click Find to locate the user."
    The ldap search I'm seeing in the access logs is curious in the sense that it seems to binding with dn="".
    [23/Jun/2004:15:18:54 -0400] conn=346 op=0 msgId=1 - BIND dn="" method=128 versi
    on=2
    [23/Jun/2004:15:18:54 -0400] conn=346 op=0 msgId=1 - RESULT err=0 tag=97 nentrie
    s=0 etime=0 dn=""
    [23/Jun/2004:15:18:54 -0400] conn=346 op=1 msgId=2 - SRCH base="o=msgdemo.isdint
    egration.com,dc=msgdemo,dc=isdintegration,dc=com" scope=2 filter="(uid=test1@msg
    demo.isdintegration.com)" attrs="cn uid mail givenName sn icsCalendar"
    [23/Jun/2004:15:18:54 -0400] conn=346 op=1 msgId=2 - RESULT err=0 tag=101 nentri
    es=0 etime=0
    [23/Jun/2004:15:18:54 -0400] conn=346 op=2 msgId=3 - UNBIND
    [23/Jun/2004:15:18:54 -0400] conn=346 op=2 msgId=-1 - closing - U1
    [23/Jun/2004:15:18:55 -0400] conn=346 op=-1 msgId=-1 - closed.
    This is returning 0 entries, and I believe this is why it is failing. I believe the connector is probably using this search to retrieve the users calendar_id.
    If I type the uid into the dialog box (to subscribe) I get this in the ldap:

    Thanks,

    If someone is still following this thread:
    The problem seems to stem from the fact that the subscribe to calendar function from the connector (outlook) is searching ldap on uid, but using an email address as a value:

  • Outlook connector, and shared calendar... again

    Hi,
    I'm using the communication suite through the communication express and outlook.
    All work fine on both email client, but... with outlook, I can't see people's shared calendars.
    Other functions work very well, like shared contacts, folders etc..., but when I want
    to list shared calendar of any user, no one appears, and so, I can't subscribe.
    (I can search people, find people, but when selected, no calendars...)
    I took a look at the log (ldap server, oc logfile, etc...) and didn't see any error messages.
    With comm. express, I can subscribe, see, modify. So I don't think there's an authentication problem.
    I'm using outlook connector 7.2.402.1 on outlook 2003 SP3.
    I'm new to sun comm. suite, so if I'm not accurate enough, ask me!
    Best regards,
    Rems, a new french user.

  • My wife cannot share calendar with me

    I cannot send an invitation from my wife's iPhone or iCloud account to share her iOS calendar with me.  We each have separate iCloud IDs (but the same Apple ID).  I have been able to share my own calendars with her, but not the other way around.  BTW, my iCloud ID and Apple ID are the same - I don't know if me having the same Apple ID and iCloud ID is causing any of these issues.
    When I go into her phone to share a calendar it looks like it sends an invitation to me (it says "Shared with <me>"), but after about 5 seconds that message disappears and I get no invitation.  If I try to do it on a computer via her iCloud account it gives me an error message that "Your changes to this calendar couldn't be saved because of a server error.  Please try again."
    I've looked for answers online but haven't been able to find any.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
    JC

    I'm not sure what's causing that.  I wouldn't think the problem is caused by your share Apple ID, which also happens to be your iCloud ID.  The notifications should be based on the iCloud ID so as long as they are different you should get the notifications.  (In fact, if you were using the same iCloud ID you would have received an error message that you can't share the calendar with yourself when you tried to share it.)
    That said, if you have another email address associated with your iCloud ID you could try sharing it with that address instead to see if that would resolve it.  (Or you could go to https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/ and add an alternate address to your iCloud ID to test if sharing the calendar with this address would work.)

  • Cannot share calendar

    I put this on the iCal discussion, but maybe it belongs here:
    I set my wife's work calendar (iCloud calendar, being viewed on her Mac's iCal) to be shared with me. Her Mac sent an email invitaion. When I click on the Join Calendar button on the invitation email on my Mac, iCloud is loaded, and I get the message: "Can't join shared calendar. This calendar can't be joined because it's no longer shared."
    The shared calendar settings on her Mac have not changed; the calendar is indicated as being shared with me.

    I was having the same problem as you with my wife's calendar. Bummed that you had no answer from anyone or Apple so I tried this...
    Logged onto icloud as my wife and unshared her calendar.
    Re-shared her calendar as public and sent myself an email.
    Logged out of wife's iCloud account.
    Got email, follwed link, which actually subscribed through the iCal app, not iCloud.
    Everything worked but I don't want my wife's calendar public.
    Back to iCloud, Un-shared her public calendar.
    Re-shared her calendar as private and sent a new email (this time to a different email address - I have 3)
    Logged out of wife's iCloud account.
    Got the email, clicked link which now takes me to iCloud.
    Log into my iCloud account and the calendar now shares correctly. Got excited that I solved problem, but...
    Wife gets email back saying that I subscribed to her calendar from an email address that is not the email that the invite was sent to (hmmm...). The different email that I subscribed from is also my Apple ID.
    Wife shares another 3 calendars but this time uses the same email as my Apple ID.
    Get 3 emails, click on links, all load and are correctly shared in iCloud, iCal, and iPhone.
    So my theory is that the email address that I had her send the original invites to was "disliked" by iCloud (it was the bottom alphabetically of my 3 emails - don't know if that makes a difference), but that the other two were OK in some way. Of course maybe sharing public and then changing to private triggered a change at the iCloud servers. Who knows!?
    Hope this helps solve your problem.

  • Cannot share Calendars - 400 error

    When I try to share a calendar I get this message:
    The request for account “iCloud” failed.
    The server responded with
    “400”

    Any ideas on this?

    Try this:
    In iCal Preferences…, choose Accounts, then select the account that is giving you trouble. Uncheck the box labeled Enable this account. Wait a few seconds, then re-check the box. This should solve the problem.

  • How to view my family share calendar in outlook for mac 2011 (ical)

    Hey All
    Problem:
    Want to view my family share calendar in outlook for mac 2011.
    Want to have them sync on the fly (push)
    Currently running 2 exchange mailboxes which have their own mailboxes and calendars which you can toggle between.
    For the PC this is a relatively straight forward task.. You can add an additional calendar to outlook and you are away. Wife's PC can view her own personal exchange calendar and on a separate tab she can view, edit, print etc the family share calendar.
    For outlook for Mac, I've tried a few work arounds and none of them actually work, all the Apple documentation available doesn't really cover this.
    Any help would be much appreciated
    Cheers

    Hi,
    According to your description, I notice that Outlook for Mac for Office 365 cannot open shared calendar.
    If I misunderstand your concern, please do not hesitate to let me know.
    Which account are you used, Exchange account or Microsoft account?
    Would you please login OWA and test to open this shared calendar?
    Outlook for Mac cannot open the shared calendar which is a sub-calendar, you have to ask calendar owner share all calendars under the default "Calendar" folder.
    More details about it, for your reference:

    Next, I followed the steps outlined in http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-5200/gbnse?l=en&a=view&q=shared+calendar+ldap+lookup.
    I set service.wcap.userprefs.ldapproxyauth = "yes"
    I have the ACI entries as specified in that document.
    (targetattr = "mail || uid || icsCalendar || givenName || sn || cn")
    (targetfilter = (|(objectClass=icscalendaruser)(objectClass=icscalendarresource)))
    (version 3.0;acl "Allow Calendar administrators to proxy - product=ics,class=admin,num=2,version=1";
    allow (proxy)(groupdn = "ldap:///cn=Calendar Administrators, ou=Groups, o=cp");)
    (targetattr = "mail || uid || icsCalendar || givenName || sn || cn")
    (targetfilter = (|(objectClass=icscalendaruser)(objectClass=icscalendarresource)))
    (version 3.0;
    acl "Allow Calendar users to read and search other users - product=ics,class=admin,num=3,version=1";
    allow (read,search)
    (userdn = "ldap:///uid=*,ou=People,o=pcc.edu,o=cp")
    The only oddity I see is that the ACI entries are not passed down to the next directory levels.
    Any thoughts?
    David.

    I reviewed the document and I believe the VLV browsing indexes are setup and functional. I've also checked the ACI entries and they look correct. (The document doesn't mention the ACI entries for proxy authentication.) As I said, an admin user can retrieve names from the GAL, a non-admin user cannot. The only difference in the access log is the returned nentries value.

  • Resource calendars in Outlook connector

    I'm sure I am missing something terribly simple, but I'm hoping someone can advise me on subscribing to resource calendars in the Outlook connector. We are running System Messaging Server 6.2-7.05, SUNWics 116577-42 (2005Q4 + patches) against DS 5.2.5 on Solaris 10.
    I have been creating resource calendars without problems, such as:
    cn=Sliger Room 242, ou=resource_calendars,dc=fsu,dc=edu has cn: Sliger Room 242
    cn=Sliger Room 242, ou=resource_calendars,dc=fsu,dc=edu has icsCalendar: ucs-sliger242
    cn=Sliger Room 242, ou=resource_calendars,dc=fsu,dc=edu has icsDWPHost: calsvr.fsu.edu
    If the resource calendar is owned by an Outlook user, it shows up for them just fine, and if they give access to other users, they users can subscribe in webmail, but I don't seem to be able to get the resources to show up in Outlook so that one can subscribe there without going through webmail.
    First I thought that perhaps they needed to be visible to the Outlook GAL, so I reconfigured the GAL to include objectclass=icsCalendarResource. But though the objects can then be seen, the are still not found when searching for calendars to subsribe to, either by searching for a calendar name or by the owner's name.
    I'd be grateful if someone could point me to a document for the dense, or recommend some gotcha's to check for.
    Thanks,
    Ethan

    Thanks Shane,
    I do appreciate you having a look. On the LDAP that the calendar server hits I see the query:

    When I query for "Show shared calendars available whose user_id is Sliger" There is also quite a bit of chatter on the LDAP that backs the Global Address Book, but I'm not sure how relevant that is (be happy to share if it would be useful)
    Running the top query returns:
    ekromhout@ra:~$ ldapsearch -h v492.ucs.fsu.edu -D "cn=directory manager" -b "dc=fsu,dc=edu" -W -x '(&(icsCalendarOwned=*Sliger*)(objectClass=icsCalendarUser))' icsCalendarOwned

    # search result
    search: 2
    result: 0 Success
    # numResponses: 3
    # numEntries: 2
    ekromhout@ra:~$
    And the "icsCalendarOwned: ucs-sliger242$Sliger Room 242" is calendar I was hoping to add that has been read, invite, and availability shared with the Outlook user.

  • Howto troubleshoot outlook connector. users can't open their calendar

    Hello
    some companies that are our client cannot open their agenda when using outlook connector. if they use communications express (uwc) they can view it but not when accessing through the connector.
    what could be the cause of this. I am really clueless. i have asked the sjoc.log to see if can see anything.
    thank you.

    the actual problem is that an user can create events using outlook but his colleagues can't consult these events. it is a shared calendar and when using communications express/uwc they can access this data.
    here is a excerpt of the sjoc.log that has errors

  • Group calendars in outlook connector not possible ?

    Hi,
    JES5 and outlook connector 7.2.402.1 (outlook 2003)
    A group calendar that I created in the UWC doesn't appear in the outlook connector, is the concept of 'group calendars' not supported in the outlook connector ? If not, is there already an RFE for this ?
    regards,
    Tom

    Hi,
    Are we talking about the same thing here ? I'm talking about group calendars, not shared calendars. In UWC, you can define a group calendar of your own to which you add calendars of your colleagues (for example).
    If I try to locate this group calendar by selecting my own user account via the subscribe tab, it says 'owner cannot subscribe to own calendar' so ...
    regards,
    Tom.

  • Calendar server and address book server login fails with outlook connector

    Hi all,
    I have installed Java Communication Suite 5 according to the doc http://blogs.sun.com/factotum/resource/comms5-install-linux.html.
    When i deploy the connector i get the pop ups saying "Server:servername:3080
    Error:service not available" also
    "Server:servername:80/uwc"
    Error:service not available"
    asking to login to calendar server and address book server.Clicking "OK" allows install.
    In outlook i can send and receive mails but not the meeting requests.It gives the error "login to calendar server" when i create a meeting request.
    Please let me know what i have to do to get rid of the error.The username and passwd entered is correct.
    Regards,
    lmeenakshy

    Hi,
    When i deploy the connector i get the pop ups saying
    "Server:servername:3080
    Error:service not available" also Do you get exactly what you say above, or have you substituted in the real server name for "Server:servername:" above?
    I would check through the outlook connector deployment configuration to verify that you have inserted valid information into all of the host & port fields - perhaps check the .ini file that is created to see if it has "Server" and "servername" listed.
    "Server:servername:80/uwc"
    Error:service not available"You are able to log into UWC via the web-interface and access your calendar/pab and edit/modify/delete calendar & addressbook entries right? The services are all up?
    asking to login to calendar server and address book
    server.Clicking "OK" allows install.The outlook connector deployment software gives you the option to increase the logging level, try that and see what the logs say - what was it trying to connect to/check which failed.
    In outlook i can send and receive mails but not the
    meeting requests.It gives the error "login to
    calendar server" when i create a meeting request.
    Please let me know what i have to do to get rid of
    the error.The username and passwd entered is
    correct.I suspect this is more of an underlying configuration issue that needs to be sorted out, once that happens you shouldn't have to keep logging in.
    Regards,
    Shane.
