Hi.
Running XenApp 6.0 on Windows 2008 R2 with Office 2010
Some users has managed to enable Offline use so there are created a OST file in %USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook
In group policy we have disabled this:
Use Cached Exchange Mode for new and existing Outlook profiles
So it is not possible for the user to enable Cashed Exchange Mode under Account Settings.
But still the user can go to Account Settings, select Data Files pane and select Settings.
Then select Advanced pane and "Outlook Data File Settings..."
Here you just hit OK at then the sync starts after an Outlook restart.
Is it possible to disable this feature?

As I have tested in my environment, the size of local ost-file didn't increase when I followed your steps. So, would you please tell me how did you notice that the sync starts after an Outlook restart?
In theory, Outlook will work using information directly from the server when you are in Online Exchange mode. It won't sync anything to the ost-file.

Since I never need to recover those client database, I would like to know if it is possible to disable log creation on a Berkeley Database?
Thank youThe version of BDB that is used for DMS is TDS (Transaction Data Store). In that environment, logging is needed to ensure recoverability. There isnt a way to disable logging. If you never need to do recovery, then you can use the BDB utilities and occasionally do checkpoints which will flush the cache, or you can shut down the client application. After this is done then you can remove the log files, since you are claiming that you will not need them for recovery.

Is there a way to disable temporary files creation when I execute a report from .NET?
I know temporary files help to improve the speed but sometimes we prefer the complete execution from real path because users can see where is the report and sometimes they get confused by temporary files.

Visual Studio TestStand API runtime enable/disable XML reporting file creation
I am looking for a Visual Studio C# solution to selectively disable creation of the report generation XML file using the TestStand API.
These XML files are useful for active troubleshooting for technicians, but wind up cluttering important directories with useless information most of the time.
I am aware that the XML file creation can be disabled through the TestStand Sequence Editor menu item Configure | Result Processing | Output Name Report | Enabled unchecked option.
This is helpful, but:
1. I have not found a way to check-uncheck this feature at runtime.
2. I do not believe that this would be an effective solution for my instal-less Base Deployment Paradigm.
Any help or ideas would be appreciated!

This is useful, complete, and implementable but not exactly what I was hoping for.
I was hoping to be able to enable/disable the XML file creation for the currently executing instance of the engine prior to sequence start.
I would rather not disable reporting through a configuration file that would effectively disable it for all uses of TestStand until it was re-enabled again.
Are my expectations unrealistic?
Does anyone have any idea how creation of the XML file can be enabled/disabled for an active instance of the engine prior to sequence start through the API without altering the file based configuration of TestStand?
I have seen some postings around 2008 that indicate this can be done, but I was unsuccessful implementing those solutions in TestStand 2013. -

Our Terminal Server is running out of hard disk space, and the major files which occupy most of the space are *.ost files of the Outook, which come form the users which use the Terminal Server all the time through remote desktop. The Outlook is installed
on the Terminal Server and various users can use it.
What would be a solution in this case. Is there a way to limit the size of the *.ost files? I read in forums that having the Outlook 2010 set up in Cached Exchange Mode isn't the best practice for an environment where the hdd space is a major constraint.
What do you suggest?
Thanks,Is the Exchange server local or remote? If it's local then it might be worth considering disabling cached mode, since the traffic will be going over the local network and therefore having the data cached becomes much less useful. If it's a remote exchange
server then realistically turning off cached mode would likely make it unusable.
If Exchange is remote then other than increasing the available storage, another option might be to upgrade your Outlook / Office installation to 2013. In Outlook 2013 you can configure how much of the users mailbox is cached in terms of time, so for instance
you could set it to only cache the last 6 months worth of mail, and then all recent messages would continue to be quick to view, but older messages that are less likely to be accessed frequently would have to be downloaded from Exchange each time since they
would no longer be cached. -
I have a user with a mailbox size on Exchange server of 4 GB and when I perform folder size check the mailbox size is 4GB. The OST file on the laptop is 32 GB.
We are currently using Exchange 2003 Server with Outlook 2010 Clients.
The user has other mailboxes listed for employees that are no longer working for our company.

If the user is using Outlook in cached mode, the shared mailboxes will also be downloaded to the OST-file by default. To stop that, disable caching of all shared folders in teh users Outlook profile.
To disable the caching of all shared folders, follow these steps:
On the File tab, click Account Settings in the
Account Settings list.
In the Account Settings dialog box, click the E-mail
tab and then double-click your Microsoft Exchange Server account.
In the Change Account dialog box, click More Settings.
In the Microsoft Exchange dialog box, click the Advanced tab.
Click to clear the Download shared folders check box.
This will not shrink the OST-file, so I would recommend that you recreate it (just remove the OST-file and a new one will be created when Outlook is started). To manually shrink the file using the method in the above linke provided by Peddy1st will take
many many hours.

Two Exchange accounts mysteriously assigned to same OST file
I have a challenge that I have been fighting for about a year. We have users that have exchange mailboxes on two different exchange servers (not on the same network, in two completely different locations).
For the sake of example, lets call the user Mary and her email addresses are [email protected] and [email protected].
I can configure the first mailbox just fine. The problem begins when I add the 2nd mailbox. Using cached exchange, the first account creates an OST file called "[email protected]" in the normal, default location.
Once I add the 2nd exchange account, the accounts box shows that the 2nd account is also using the same ost file as the first account. In other words, the "Selected account delivers new messages to the following location:" is the SAME
for both accounts!
When I launch Outlook, the splash screen shows it's setting up the mailbox for the first time, but once it comes up, there is only one mailbox listed, the first one. I have tried about a hundred different ways of setting this up, and get various
results. Sometimes I will get both mailboxes in Outlook, but the 2nd mailbox contains the same items as the first. In other words, it says it's [email protected], but the contents is actually from [email protected]. Other times, I get the "Temporary
mailbox -- your mailbox has moved" dialog box on startup.
I've tried going into the 2nd account and manually changing the cache mode OST file to a new file, but I wind up with a blank mailbox in Outlook with no folders and it never updates. The same thing happens whether I use Outlook Anywhere or
not. I should also note that we have a VPN between two server networks so that server names are accessible without Outlook Anywhere.
This does not just affect "Mary". It happens for any user that has a mailbox on domain1 and domain2. I have gotten around the issue in the past by changing the account name for the user on one of the servers, changing the username
"Mary" to "MSmith", for example. But lately, changing the username on the server for the users doesn't always work.
I want to also add that when I have managed to get the "accounts" box to correctly show the correct OST files for each account (after adding the 2nd account but before launching Outlook), once I launch Outlook and see that there is only
one mailbox displayed, I look in the accounts box again and see the 2nd account OST file is the same as the first.
There seems to be something about these two accounts that is confusing Outlook. HELP!

Please disable using Exchange Cached mode in Outlook and start Outlook in Online mode to check whether the second mailbox is shown there.
I suggest we can configure two Exchange accounts in two Outlook profiles respectively. Then check whether the email goes to one mailbox or not.

I had tried that before, but wasn't sure of the outcome, so I just tried it again. I added the second exchange account to the profile, unchecked the Cached Exchange mode, and started Outlook. Both email addresses show up as "branches"
in Outlook, but they have the same content. The top one is correct, and the 2nd one says it's the email address of the 2nd account, but all the folders are copies of the first account. I quit Outlook and go back into account settings and look and
even though cached exchange mode is still turned off, it shows that messages are delivered to the OST file used in the first account. Weird...
Keep in mind, it's not just this one user or computer. So it's not about needing to reinstall Outlook, etc. I think, somehow, it has to do with the username being the same in both Exchange accounts, but I can't pinpoint that being the cause. -
Download Helper Screen Capture worked to capture video if the default "no audio" option is active. But, no audio. The "speakers" or "microphone" audio options are confusing....the audio to be captured is from the video, so what do you choose? With either "speakers" or "microphone" selected, the captured file has poor audio and no video. Re-capture efforts (speakers) get "Invalid capture file error" and "File Creation error- Unable to rename/copy audio file"
The paid upgrade of "Converter" doesn't work.
Instructive documentation - not very good.
Suggestions - Need time delay between initiation of "Record" and starting the video to be recorded.
Could use timer tracking of the record process.
Are there operating system limitations? (Have Windows XP Pro)That is an issue for the developer of that Download Helper.

Sorry, my mistake, I did not pay attention to the cloning part.
For this error, looks like the database was not cleanly shutdown before copying the files or that preclone was not run successfully. You will have to run preclone again, and shutdown the database normally, then copy the file again.

How can I change the file creation date?
I recently downloaded more than 1,000 photos from my vacation. I'm preparing to burn DVDs for a friend, and I noticed that when I copy the photos to the desktop, they don't all have the same date. I have read a couple of discussions here about the difference between photo creation date and file creation date, and I understand the difference. But something seems odd to me.
For purposes of illustration, let's take two photos: "A" was taken with the camera in the landscape position (how one normally holds a point-and-shoot); "B" was taken with the camera held in the portrait position (rotated 90 degrees). The photos were taken on April 24, about three minutes apart, but not imported into iPhoto until May 19.
In iPhoto, both files show the actual creation date. Yay!
The problem is with the files after having been copied to the desktop.
When copied to the desktop, the info panel for photo "A" shows April 24 for both the "created" and "modified" dates. Photo "B," however, shows May 19 for the "created" and "modified" dates.
Apparently, when the "B-style" photos were imported into iPhoto, the app automatically rotated them so that they are viewed correctly (without having to turn your head sideways). This is a very nice feature, but the result is that the file date changes.
Is there any way to change this? I want the DVD to show the date the photo was created, not imported to iPhoto. Correct. Your camera has an Auto-Rotate feature. However, the camera does not actually rotate any pixels in the file, but instead flags it with an instruction: "Display me this way". This is a tag in the Exif metadata. When you import a file with this tag iPhoto creates a modified version. It does this because most of the apps that integrate with it - email clients, word processors etc - simply don't understand this Exif tag. So if you used the shot in a word processing doc, uploaded it to many Web site etc, the shot would come out sideways.
iPhoto has nothing to say about File dates. There are various file utilities that will edit the dates on Files

How can I find out which .pst or .ost file itunes referres to when synchronising with outlook
I´ve switched to iphone 4S from my 3Gs and would like to "clean" my itunes Sync before I use the new phone. Problem is, that the synchronisation with Outlook 2003 doesn´t work anymore. I guess the reason is that itunes refers to an old .ost or .pst file on my computer. I ve got several outlook profiles and changed from exchange to pop3. My question: How can I find out which .pst or .ost file itunes referres to?

How can you determine a file creation date and know if it's been altered since the creation date
I need to know how to determine a file creation date on an ipad. If someone creates a document/note on an ipad how can you tell when it was created and if it has been altered since?
Unless you are using a third party app that provides that functionality, in iOS the only thing youcan access is the last edit/save date and time, which is fairly evident in the user interface for documents and notes. Some apps that handle MS Office files may provide that, but ican't say first hand.

I am cloning and EBS 12.1.3 from one server to another, and when Configuring the target system database server with ''perl adcfgclone.pl dbTier'', I am getting the following error:

MOS is saying that it is due to wrong permissions on the /var/tmp/.oracle directory and we should give it the following permissions:
chmod 777 /var/tmp/.oracle
After giving those permissions and rebooting the server , and running the perl adcfgclone.pl dbTier script, I am still having the same problem:

Hi Hussain,
After successfully configured the DbTier and AppsTier with their respective post clone scripts the appstier was automatically started at the end.
But now, I can't seem to connect with my IE 9 and Firefow browsers.

and why does it shows temporary tablespace TEMP1
but in real it is TEMP
i dropped around 50 days back from production and added TEMP to it
