Hi,
Does the issue happen to all users, internal users or external users? What about OWA? Does it still work?
If OWA can work normally, please try to use ping to test both the Exchange Server FQDN and the IP address of the Exchange Server.
If OWA cannot work either, please collect some Event logs or error message/code
 for further troubleshooting.
Additionally, here is a related KB that may be helpful:

  • Exchange 2010 - Outlook Anywhere trying to connect to internal server name first before connecting to proxy server

    Hello,
I have an Exchange 2010 question which I will post in the Exchange 2013 section since the Ask a question button in the legacy Exchange Servers section of technet takes me back to the part of Technet where I can only ask questions regarding Exchange 2013.
If someone can point me to a part where I can place a question in an Exchange 2010 forum please let me know.
We have Exchange 2010 setup with a CAS array listening to outlook.internaldomain.com
We have TMG 2010 setup with a rule for Outlook Anywhere, the rule listens to mail.externaldomain.com and traffic that meets this rule is let through to outlook.internaldomain.com.
When I fire up my laptop, which is connected to the internet, and start Outlook and let it configure my profile through autodiscover it sets it up correct and fills the Outlook profile with a servername stating outlook.internaldomain.com and a proxyserver
to be used stating mail.externaldomain.com. After initial setup when my Outlook starts it almost immediatly prompts me for a username and a password so this is working fine.
At the office we have an internal network segment where DHCP is servicing the connecting clients and giving them our internal DNS servers because they need connection to some other network segments which are not available to the internet. This network segment
does not have access to our internal Exchange environment but has full access to the internet. Clients in this network segment do want to use Outlook so using Outlook Anywhere for them is the logical way to go. When I connect my laptop to this network segment
I get handed an IP address and our internal DNS servers, when I start Outlook it takes about two minutes before a the credential prompt pops up and another 2 to 6 minutes after entering credentials before it says all folders are in sync. This is quite long
and our clients find this unacceptable.
I started testing what might be going on here and I have found that when I manually enter external DNS servers the Outlook password prompt will popup in seconds and all is working as expected so it seems Outlook is trying to connect to the internal servername
when using our internal DNS servers (which can resolve outlook.internalnetwork.com) instead of directly going to the proxy server which is to be used for Outlook Anywhere.
When I start a network monitor trace my thoughts are confirmed because when I am connected to the internal network segment OUTLOOK.EXE first tries to connect to outlook.internaldomain.com, it almost immediately gets a response stating that this route is
inaccessible but OUTLOOK.EXE keeps on trying to connect untill some sort of time out is reached (somewhere around two minutes) after which it connects to mail.externaldomain.com and Outlook shows the credential prompt.
So to round it up, when connected to DNS servers that can resolve the internal servername Outlook tries to connect to the internal servername in stead of the external name, Outlook does not reckognize the answer from the network that the internal route is
not acessible (or it does but does nothing with this information).
Has anybody experienced this behaviour in Outlook?
Does anyone have a solution in where I can force Outlook to connect to it's proxyserver and disregard the internal servername?

    Thank you for your reply.
The client computers that are experiencing the issues are not domain joined, the only reason I can think of why this is occurring is because the DNS servers are able to resolve the internal hostname of the server, but I would expect Outlook to always use
the proxy server that has been set in the configuration of the Outlook profile. Or at least acknowledging the answer that the initially tried route is inaccessible and immediately continue to the proxy server.
For setting the same hostname for internal and external use, we use different namespaces internally and externally, do you mean setting the external hostname on the CAS array for internal use ? Wouldn't that push all internal communication to the internet
and to the outside interface of the TMG where the server is published with that hostname ?

  • Outlook clients trying to connect

    Current Exchange Server: 8.3.389.2 - 2007 SP3 update roll-up 15
We are seeing an issue with Outlook clients trying to connect anywhere from 1 minute to 20 minutes plus.  We have Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013 in the environment.  All clients are up to date with the latest Microsoft Updates.
The issue will happen to multiple users and the same users have no issues connecting to web-mail or email on the phone.  Its just the outlook client.
Outlook will just hang and sometimes haven't updated for hours or the previous day.
Office 2010 and Office 2013 are both updated.
I've tried disabling our Anti-Virus, turning the policy off and the issue is still present.
Email will update on phones and web-mail.
We've tried rebuilding profiles, repairing Office and nothing seems to fix the issue.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

    Hi,
According to your description, I understand that Outlook client sometimes hang or can't auto sync mailbox, however ActiveSync and OWA works fine.
If I misunderstand you concern, please do not hesitate to let know.
I want to double confirm whether all Outlook client experience this question at same time or not, how about restart Outlook client while problem arise.
If so, please open Event log to collect relevant warning or error message for further troubleshooting. Meanwhile, please run ExBPA to test Exchange server.
On the contrary, this may be related to client side. Please try to run Outlook with safe mode to prevent virus and add-ins, or enable Cache mode.
Besides, uncheck “Download Shared Folder” for testing.

  • Unrecognized certificate when Outlook 2010 tries to connect to Exchange 2007 on SBS 2008

    Hi all,
I believe this is a security issue rather than a connectivity or configuration problem.
Running Outlook 2010 on Windows 7 trying to connect to Exchange 2007 on SBS 2008, I receive the following error:
"The name of the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site"
When I view the certificate I see that it was issued to "zx-server" by "zx". This is NOT my domain CA nor is it a certificate I recognize. I use a self-issued certificate (i.e. issued by the SBS box). I also receive this certificate error when I browse to
the internal website (companyweb). No other computers on the network are seeing this behaviour.
I have checked the certificate stores in certmgr and I can't find any such certificate or CA. I have also searched the entire hard drive with no luck. I have run Kaspersky AV, Malwarebytes and MS Security Essentials several times but I can't find any malware.
I also recently installed Comodo Firewall (the problem began after this).
I need to find and remove the certificate and prevent it from being presented to me every time I try to connect to the server. All help, advice and suggestions appreciated.
    Aide

    Hi,
    It’s really a common issue.
This issue occurs if the following conditions are true:
You replace the default self-signed Exchange Server 2007 or Exchange Server 2010 certificate with a different certificate.
Note The Setup program in Exchange Server 2007 or in Exchange Server 2010 creates a default self-signed certificate when Exchange Server 2007 or Exchange Server 2010 is installed.
The common name on the replacement certificate does not match the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of the URL that is stored in the following objects:
    o
The Service Connection Point object for the Autodiscover service
    o
    The
InternalUrl attribute of Exchange 2007 Web Service (EWS)
    o
    The
InternalUrl attribute of the Offline Address Book Web service
    o
    The
InternalUrl attribute of the Exchange unified messaging (UM) Web service
By default, the URL that is stored in these objects references the NetBIOS name of the server. For example, a URL that resembles the
    following URL is stored:
    https://NetBIOS_name.contoso.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
This may differ from the host name that is used in the FQDN of the replacement certificate. For example, the replacement certificate
may have an FQDN that resembles the following FQDN:
    mail.contoso.com
This issue causes a name mismatch error to occur. Therefore, you receive the security warning message when you try to connect Outlook
    2007 to the mailbox.
For more detailed information about the procedures to fix the issue, please refer to the following KB article:
Title: Security warning when you start Outlook 2007 and then connect to a mailbox
that is hosted on a server that is running Exchange Server 2007 or Exchange Server 2010: "The name of the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site"

    Hi,
yes we also tried to setup New profile and it also hangs on last stage at finding server. After 2-3 minutes it fine, but when try to add shared mailboxes it hangs for 2-3 min each mailbox we try to add. Those shared mailboxes varies from 100mb to 5gb.
When check Connection status it says connecting and type is Exchange mail.So i Guess it hangs for each time it try to Connect to shared mailboxes.
On server all Resources are fine, disk Space is good,no event log,no Queue.
Even test-mapiconnection it has good response time.We are still on CU3,since have heard some issue With CU5 and waiting.Again this have been working fine until this week.No updates have been done at all on those servers (2 Exchange 2013,with CAS and mailbox

  • I have had my IPAD2 for quite a while but haven't activated my cellular data for about a year.  I am now trying to activate and when I go to cellular data, turn it on and try to tap view account i just get a message that says "connection to server lost".

I have had my IPAD2 for quite a while but haven't activated my cellular data for about a year.  I am now trying to activate and when I go to cellular data, turn it on and try to tap view account i just get a message that says "connection to server lost".  I could swear the last time I used cellular data you would see the signal in the upper left corner and I only see "no service" there, I am in a location where I know I should have service.  Is there something I should do to my IPAD?  I tried resetting, I tried clearing cookies and history in Safari (after reading a post n these discussions).  I don't know what to do next. My IOS version is 6.1.3.  I did go into Network from the general tab and I see it says "SIM not provisioned".    HELP and Thank you in advance.

    Hello Theresa818,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
It sounds like the cellular data will not activate for some reason on the iPad.
I found this article that will help you resolve this issue here, named iPad (Wi-Fi + Cellular Models): Troubleshooting a cellular data connection, found here http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4249
Check for a carrier settings update.
    Update your iPad.
Toggle the Cellular Data setting off and on under Settings > Cellular Data.
    Restart your iPad.
Tap Settings > General > About. Locate the Carrier entry and make sure that your carrier is correct.
If your SIM card has SIM PIN enabled, try turning it off: Tap Settings > Cellular Data > SIM PIN.
Make sure you're in an area of good coverage. If the cellular data connection works in another area, contact your carrier to report the original affected area.
Reset network settings: Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
    Restore the iPad as new.
If none of the above steps resolves the issue, make an appointment at an Apple Retail Store, contact your carrier, or contact AppleCare to troubleshoot further.
I know you may have done one or two of the steps here, so you can skip those.
    Take care,
    Sterling

  • Hi, in our Enterprise environment, we have a single mac with Mavericks version 10.9.2 and Office for Mac 14.4.1. When setting up outlook, we are trying to connect to a mailbox on exchange server 2007.

Hi, in our Enterprise environment, we have a single mac with Mavericks version 10.9.2 and Office for Mac 14.4.1. When setting up outlook, we are trying to connect to a mailbox on exchange server 2007. We put in the EWS details in the server field since our autodiscover function is not functioning. But still it doesn't work. There are no errors, no popups. We turned on the logging and in the logs, it says a error of -3259. We are stuck and any help will be really appreciated.

I have a customer experiencing exactly the same issue. Their computer is running Windows 7 Pro with Office 2007 SP3. After seemingly exhausting all troubleshooting options, I backed up their data, formatted the hard drive and performed a clean install of
Windows and all their applications. It didn't solve the problem!
What's strange is the customer also has a laptop computer, running the same version of Outlook, and that doesn't experience any problems connecting to Office 365 on the same network.
My next step is to send the customer a new ADSL modem/router to try.
I have another customer on Office 365, also running Outlook 2007, and they also experience issues with emails sitting in the outbox while Outlook displays the status message “Outlook is trying to retrieve data from the Microsoft exchange server outlook.office365.com.”
In this case Outlook doesn't freeze/stop responding, like it does for the first customer I mentioned.

  • How can I stop iCal from trying to connect to the server during corrections?

Recently, my iCal lost the connection to my gmail calendar (and my wife's), and as I was trying to fix it (by replacing the @ in the server address with a &40-something), it turned out that iCal started trying to connect again - but this time it had lost the proper password.
Now, it says something like "Server connection error: make sure you have the right password" - and then I'm supposed to click OK. When I do that, iCal immediately starts trying to reconnect, and I simply didn't have time to change my password or anything. Back to square one.
I figured I should reboot, but the iMac won't let me shut down before I've shut down iCal, which again can't be done before the "Server connection.."-dialog is closed. Back to square one.
My system is OS X 10.6.7, on a 2011 iMac.

Quit iCal from the dock.   To do this, click and hold on the iCal icon (in the dock), and select Quit from the pop-up menu and release the click to Quit the app.
If that fails, then click on the icon in the dock again (and while still holding the click on the icon ) press the Option key, and select Force Quit from the pop-up and release to Force Quit the app.
I'd go after the iCal server setting via the iCal > Preferences > Accounts panel, if that's not what you're trying here.
And if that fails, then reboot (probably unnecessary, but...), disconnect from the WiFi, launch iCal, and clean up the configuration error that way.  iCal should get a different error on a network disconnect, and should then let you access the preferences.
    The AppleScript category?  Eh?

  • Cannot connect to an Exchange account in Outlook 2013 using "Microsoft Exchange Server or Compatible Service"

    Dear All,
I cannot connect to my Exchange account in Outlook 2013 using "Microsoft Exchange Server or Compatible Service".
    First I would like to present my network environment, I have 4 physical servers;
The first one is holding the Domain Controller 1, IP@: 192.168.1.10
The second server is holding the additional Domain Controller which it is DC2, IP@: 192.168.1.11
The third server is holding the Exchange 2013 Mailbox, IP@: 192.168.1.15
And the last server is holding the Exchange 2013 CAS-HT, IP@: 192.168.1.16
I am doing the steps below:
1-Creating a new profile in outlook and start configuring the exchange account by entering the IP address of the Exchange-CAS Server, 192.168.1.16
2-entering the account name: [email protected]
3-Go to "More Settings" > "Connection" > "Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP" > and entering the "Exchange Proxy Settings"
4-type the exchange CAS Server URL, https://192.168.1.16
5-Check the "Connect using SSL Only"
6-Authentication Settings: "NTLM Authentication", and pressing Apply
7-When I press the "Check Name" button, a message occurred> "The action cannot be completed. The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action".
8-I go back to the "Exchange Proxy Settings" and I Uncheck the "Connect using SSL Only" and pressing Apply
9-i press the "Check Name" Button, a small window occurred to enter a Username and Password, so I enter the Administrator username and the administrator password and pressing "OK", but nothing is changed, I tried to enter my
username and password in the small window and I still got the same result.
I cannot verify the account name and I cannot complete the process.
    I appreciate you kind assistance.

    Hi,
To narrow down the cause, I’d like to recommend the following troubleshooting:
    1. Try to login the test account through OWA.
    2. Check the Autodiscover settings: get-clientaccessserver |fl autodiscoverserviceinternaluri
    3. Check the result of directly accessing the following URL:
    https://autodiscover.domain.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml

  • Mac G4, OS X 10.4.11 freezes when trying to connect to server

    Hello,
I was wondering if anyone has advice on solving this issue:
One of the Macs in my small office is a G4, single processor, PowerPC, running OS X 10.4.11. It's a computer we only use from time to time. I needed to use it recently, and when I tried to connect to our server (Xserve, also OS X 10.4.11), using "apple-K", it froze when I selected the volumes to connect to. This has never happened before!
I checked that I had the correct IP address for the server. Could it be an ethernet ID problem? Maybe I need to run the software update? I'm a bit lost here :-/
    Thank you!

  • Outlook is unable to connect to the proxy server.(Error Code 10)

    Hi,
I had problems with RPC proxy, I was trying to setup cutover migration.
So I read somewhere that i need to change the certprincipalname with Set-Outlookprovider.
But after this change my outlook was not working anymore
The settings before the change were:
    Name                          Server                        CertPrincipalName             TTL
    EXCH
                 1
    EXPR
                 1
    WEB
                1
So I set this back to the original (above) but this didn't helped...
    Outlook 2013 and Exchange 2013
There is a problem with the proxy server's security certificate. The name on the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the target site mail.abc-company.com.
Outlook is unable to connect to the proxy server.(Error Code 10)

    Hi,
Please make sure the mail.abc-company.com is included in your Exchange certificate which has been assigned with IIS service.
If possible, please run the following command for double check:
    Get-ExchangeCertificate | FL
    For Autodiscover service, please run
Test E-mail AutoConfiguration to check if the connection is successful in Log tab and confirm the other services URL can use proper namespace in Results tab for request access.
If the Autodiscover service fails, please create a SRV record with mail.abc-company.com for Autodiscover service to have a try:

  • Outlook is unable to connect to the proxy server. (Error code 0)

    Hello,
I have just commenced a Exchange 2007 SP3 to Exchange 2013 SP1 migration following the following guide: http://blogs.technet.com/b/meamcs/archive/2013/07/25/part-1-step-by-step-exchange-2007-to-2013-migration.aspx
As per the above guide, my 2007 environment is now known as legacy.company.com and my 2013, webmail.company.com.
I'm using the same certificate on both boxes and it has the names autodiscover.company.com, webmail.company.com and legacy.company.com. All that seems to be working fine.
OWA is functioning perfectly, hitting https://webmail.company.com will pass the user off to https://legacy.company.com if the mailbox is on 2007. Alongside this, Outlook also has no issues connecting to 2007 mailboxes with the client proxy settings
    being reconfigured to https://legacy.company.com automatically.
My problem comes when a mailbox is migrated to 2013. OWA functions fine and presents the mailbox but Outlook is unable to connect, presenting the error:
There is a problem with the proxy server's security certificate.
The name on the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the target site webmail.company.com.
Outlook is unable to connect to the proxy server. (Error Code 0)
If I modify the Outlook client's settings and disable "Only connect to proxy servers that have this principal name in their certificate: msstd:webmail.company.com", Outlook connects and functions fine.
I'm at a loss and have tried everything I can think and find on google. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
Please refer to the following article :
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923575
    Cause:
This issue may occur if one or more of the following conditions are true:
The connection to the  server requires a certification authority (CA).
You have not trusted the certification authority at the root.
The certificate may be invalid or revoked.
The certificate does not match the name of the site.
    A third-party add-in is preventing access.
    Solution:
To examine the certificate, follow these steps:
In Microsoft Internet Explorer, connect to the RPC server or to the secure server. For example, type
https://www.<var>server_name</var>.com/rpc in the Address bar of the Web browser, and then press ENTER.
Note The <var>server_name</var> placeholder references the RPC server name or the secure server name.
Double-click the padlock icon that is located in the lower-right corner of the Web browser.
    Click the Details tab.
Note the information in the following fields:
    Valid to
The Valid to field indicates the date until which  the certificate is valid.
    Subject
The data in the  Subject field should match the site name.
    Hope this helps!
    Thanks.

  • [SOLVED] X server doesn't start correctly: Connection to X server lost

I was trying to configure wine on my x64 system and suddenly X shutted down. There is nothing helpful in xinit output, only line "xinit: connection to X server lost". I've got nVidia GeForce 9800 GT, and i'm using nvidia driver. I tried using nouveau, nv and completely reinstalling system from scratch, but nothing helped, I still get the same error.
    Here is my /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-monitor : http://paste.pocoo.org/show/297106/
    /var/log/Xorg.0.log : http://paste.pocoo.org/show/297107/
    Please, help.

After some experimentation I've found that I can start X as root.
Here is Xorg.log as i run X as root: http://paste.pocoo.org/show/299430/
And here is Xorg.log as i run X as normal user: http://paste.pocoo.org/show/299431/
The only difference that i can see is "Power Button: Close" when running as normal user. I think that there could be some relation to recent udev update.
    Any ideas?

  • Xinit: connection to server lost

    Hi all,
I'm trying to install Arch for the first time... probably I had to expect everything would work directly :-)
So, I've been stuck at the startx stage.  Basically, I followed the beginner's guide, installed the open-source radeon driver (graphics card: Radeon HD 3650), created an xorg.conf from Xorg --configure and copied .xinitrc from /etc/skel.
Now, both with startx and with xinit -- /usr/bin/X -nolisten tcp, I get a black screen for a few seconds with a blinking cursor on the top left, then I fall bacl to the console with a seemingly innocuous message except for the last two lines:
xinit: connection to X server lost
waiting for X server to shut down
The potentially relevant files (.xinitrc, xorg.conf, Xorg.0.log, Xorg.0.log.old) are here:
    http://paste.pocoo.org/show/438407/
    http://paste.pocoo.org/show/438408/
    http://paste.pocoo.org/show/438409/
    http://paste.pocoo.org/show/438410/
Does anyone have an idea of what's going on?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Antony

You don't start a window manager so X is done running and exits. You need to start a window manager in .xinitrc.
Also, the open ATI driver doesn't need xorg.conf anymore unless you need specific tweaks. You can just delete xorg.conf.
