Outlook e-mail propblems even without updating iTunes?

I would like to know for definite if Apple is aware of the problems I and it would appear others are having with pusing e-mails via POP using my Outlook and to the iPhone?
I am getting a little frustrated with it all
thanks

Using a POP account on two different devices (i.e. computer and iPhone) is a difficulty in of itself. POP accounts are designed to be retrieved by a single mail client. I've not been aware of a way to "push" a POP account, unless you are forwarding through GMail or some other service.
If you could provide a few more details about your issue, maybe someone could answer your question. Also, since we are all users here like you, you aren't talking to Apple, so we couldn't know definitely know anything about what Apple knows or doesn't know, or how they intend to handle things.

  • I keep trying to update to iTunes 10.5.2 but it won't actually update. iTunes says I can't update my iPhone software without updating iTunes but iTunes refuses to update. Anyone know what to do?? Thanks

I have tried a zillion times to update itunes to 10.5.2 but it won't work. Under the "About iTunes" section it says that I'm still using itunes 10.4. What I'm really trying to do is update my iphone 4 software but itunes says I can't do that without first updating the itunes software, which it won't let me do. Anyone know how to fix this? Much appreicated.

Look at the system preferences for iTunes 10.5.3. Are you running 10.5.x (Leopard) or later? If you are then please repost in the iTunes for Mac forum.

  • Can i update quicktime without updating itunes?

I want to update my quicktime but I don't know how to do it without updating my iTunes. When my sister updated the iTunes on her laptop, it wasn't able to recognize her iPod because the iPod was outdated. I have the same kind of iPod so I think that means it won't be compatible with an updated version of iTunes. How can Apple force me to update my iTunes to a version that will probably lose all my music and not recognize my iPod? Is there some way around this? I appreciate the help anyone can offer. Thanks so much!

That seems unusual. Not sure what is going wrong for you with that.
    Let's try another tack.
Open your Apple Software Update ("Start > All Programs > Apple Software Update"). If ASU offer you the opportunity to just update your QuickTime (in other words, it offers you a QuickTime as well as an iTunes + QuickTime), then select only the QuickTime, and install that.
If it only offers you an iTunes + QuickTime, do no install anything just yet. First (in ASU), go "Tools > Open Downloaded Updates Folder". Delete any files currently in there. Now go back into the ASU main window, select the iTunes + QuickTime entry and go "Tools > Download only".
Once the downloads have completed, go back into the Downloaded updates folder, and doubleclick the QuickTime.msi file.
Does just QuickTime install for you? If so, launch the player. Does it launch, or are you asked for a newer version of Apple Application Support?
If the latter, go back into the Downloaded Updates folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi. After that installs, does your QuickTime Player launch properly?

  • Can't restore new phone through backup without updating itunes, can't update itunes without deleting those backups.

I've got a big problem i'm hoping you guys can help with.
I recently updated my iTunes but now it refuses to open at all. I've googled this and it says that i need to just uninstall and then reinstall itunes, as the new 64 bit version has come out. My problem is this: I NEED the old itunes data that i have to sync contacts with my new phone. I made backup copies before my old iphone 4 crapped out, but i can't sync my new iphone with these copies without updating. however, i can't update without uninstalling everything and deleting my backups. see the problem here?
    please help!

    Hello viclotto,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you need to update iTunes but you have concern for your information in iTunes. It is unlikely that any of your purchased or uploaded data would be affected affected by uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, but I would recommend making sure your iTunes library has been backed up. Your contacts are not stored in iTunes but rather in the contacts program of your Windows computer. Deleting and reinstalling iTunes will not affect your contact data that is stored in your computer.
Remove and reinstall iTunes and related software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8 - Apple Support
Media you've bought from the iTunes Store or songs you've imported from CDs are saved in your My Music folder by default. They won't be deleted by removing iTunes. Although it's highly unlikely that you'll lose any of your iTunes Library when following the steps below, first make sure that your iTunes library is backed up. See iTunes: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive for more information.
    Steps
Remove iTunes and related components from the Control Panel.
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order. Then restart your computer.
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Don't uninstall these components in a different order, or only uninstall some of them. Doing so might have unintended affects.
    Have a great day,
    Joe

  • Updated my iPod, without updating iTunes and it says reset to manufactured settings

After the update was at 99% it said, iTunes needed to be updated first but nothing told me to update iTunes, and now it says reset to manufactured settting, aka clear everything. I don't have everything backed up on this laptop (my sisters) and when I turn it on the screen says usb to iTunes and when it is, it just says reset. Anything will help.

    - The first step of an update is making a backup.  I iTunes go to Preverences and then to the Devices tab.  You should see your iPod backup with a date specified.  Does the date correspond to to when you tried the update?
    - A backup does not include music or the apps themselves.  Therefore, if the compute does not have the apps in its iTunes library. the app data in the backup can't be restored.
    - You really have no alternative but to restore the iPod.

  • HT2311 I had a problem last evening when updating iTunes on a laptop operating Windows 7 Home Premium.

The installation aborted with the following message:
    Runtime Error!
    Program C:/Program Files (x86)...
    R6034
An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly.
I deleted the old version of iTunes and tried to download the latest version. During the setup I received the following message at the 'Starting services' stage
"Service Apple Mobile Device (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services."
    Any suggestions gratefully received

  • Syncing iPod without updating iTunes?

I recently just bought a new iTouch and tried to sync it to my Mac iBook (Mac OS X version 10.4.11 [I know]) and it told me I could not use the iTouch with my current update of iTunes (9.something). when I tried to download the new update to my computer, I was told my computer did not support this new update. is there any way to work around this?

No.  OSX 10.4.11 only suppor iTunses 9.x.  You need at least 10.5 for iOS 5.
If you computer meets these requirements you can update it to 10.5.8
Mac computer with an Intel, PowerPC G5, or PowerPC G4 (867MHz or faster) processor
    512MB of memory
    DVD drive for installation
    9GB of available disk space
10.5.8 is a paid update and you have to call Apple to order it.  It is not listed in the on-line Store.  Price is $129.

  • My iPod 5g was updating to 8.1 and is stuck on the "Connect to iTunes" even after updating. iTunes isn't reconizing that it is plugged in and I tried to reset, restart... nothing is working. Help?!

    iPod 5g
    iOS 8.1
I think it finished updating(can't be sure) but is still stuck on the 'connect to iTunes' screen

Magically, my ipod touch opened this afternoon.
Through two weeks I tried several things like push power button for couple of minutes then push power and home button together for a couple of minutes. I replied this for a few times in a day. Also I put charge for 2 days after I firstly recognized my ipod is black out. But for a long time I didn't try charge for a long time (just half an hour etc.)
I put charge at morning today then when I came home at afternoon ( approximately 12-14 hours) my ipod touch was full charged and opened.
I promised that I will write my solution. I'm not sure this is a solution or not but my ipod touch is alive now.

  • Updated iTunes to 11.0 (161). Now one iPhone 4 won't connect

My wife and I each have an iPhone 4 that we backup and sync on a shared MacBook Pro. They have been working fine.
Yesterday evening I updated iTunes to 11.0 (163). One iPhone 4 connects to iTunes and seems fine. I can backup and sync. The other iPhone showed up once briefly, then iPhoto opened automatically as if I had connected a camera or memory card. This same iPhone 4 will not show up in iTunes now. I've restarted the MBP and the iPhone multiple times but nothing. The cable seems fine since it works with the other iPhone. This second iPhone just won't connect.
    Any ideas?

I think the problem is the iphone itself and the update to iTunes 11 was just a coincidence. My other iPHone 4 an both of my iPod Touches still connect, backup, and sync just fine.
I'll try a factory reset to see if it's some buggered up setting, but my guess is the data port is toast. I'll see about repairing it or replacing it if the reset doesn't work.

    Jennifer,
Welcome to the discussions. I'm not quite sure what happened here. However, I have a few questions. Currently, if you plug your iPod into your Mac, does it show up in iTunes? Have you run the latest iPod updater on your PC? Now, are both of your iTunes versions the same on Mac and PC?

    HELP HELP

To confirm, your existing mail client isn't communicating with your existing and remote mail services at Dreamhost? Which mail client are you using (Apple mail?), and how is mail on the client set up?
It would initially seem that your client is still referencing the server, either for its inbound or outbound mail. (And I'm not sure how unplugging the server helps here, unless there's some sort of a configuration issue, or a duplicate network address or such.) This would usually be something within the configuration of the mail client.
The Mac OS X Server is significantly easier than the many other servers and server operating systems I've dealt with over the years, but it requires reading the manuals and/or some knowledge of networking and of server environments.
Small shops and home folks without the time or inclination to "spin up" on these server areas can be well-served with some help initially configuring the server. Servers are different from clients. Stuff that you're implicitly used to using when you're running a client -- the DHCP server, for instance -- are what the servers provide you with.
As for Mac OS X Server and particularly if you head outside of the default settings and sequences and off into the customizations, which is what has happened here, you might want to engage some assistance. Not just for the direct and obvious initial set-up sequence, but also for getting you set-up and started with backups and other such tasks. Before you get too deep in here and get too much underway and too much saved on your disks, do seriously consider getting somebody in to help set this box up for you.
Mac OS X Server is not "no IT", but it is rather closer to "less IT" than most. Particularly once you get it configured and running.

  • HT2534 I cannot download free apps or update current apps. I am being asked over and over to input CC information I have been downloading apps for a year now suddenly this I even purchased an iTunes giftcard and no dice. Only options are Mastercard, Visa,

I have had my iPhone 4 for a year and a half, with absolutely no issues. I've been downloading, using, and upgrading apps all the while, until suddenly I ran into this issue.
I used a pre-paid credit card to make an in-game purchase, and ever since then I am asked to put Mastercard, Visa, or Amex information into my billing info. I do not have a credit card, I even purchased an iTunes gift card thinking I could use that as a 'payment method' (even though I was simply trying to update an existing free app) and there's no option for it.
Frankly, I'm quite irritated. I wouldn't mind making a new iTunes account, but wouldn't that affect the apps/purchases/saved game info associated with my current account?
How the heck do I fix this issue, I can't use facebook as it requires an update but I can't update without a CC. Ugh.

I also wish to perform the 'free' upgrade to the mavericks OS however I am prompted to enter credit card details. This is neither appropriate and obstructive to my apple experience. I only wish to perform the upgrade and will give my details at a later date should I wish to make a future purchase. Please let me know what options are available to me without entering credit card details. It seems an unnecessary request for my financial information for which I don't/can't provide and is already limiting my iphone experience. I wish to use apple products in the future however I fail to see the logic of the credit card requirement for a "free" upgrade. An annoying roadblock to a smooth user experience.

  • After much trouble, I finally updated iTunes to 11.1.4 and now Outlook 2010 just shows it's not responding

I had a lot of trouble updating iTunes to 11.1.4 and had to uninstall it and all of its connected programs before I could finally reinstall it. It's working properly now, but Outlook will only partially open. It opens up, but it says "Not Responding" for a very long time and never functions.I can get to my e-mail through Hotmail on the 'net, but I prefer using Outlook and have other e-mail boxes there that I need it for.
I'm on PC running Windows 7. Does anyone know if the install of iTunes could have screwed Outlook up? It was closed when I did the install.
    Thanks for any help!

I finally found a solution that worked.
I installed the App "Group SMS" from the App Store. Then I created a new group. Then I added all my addresses manually one by one. And when I then synchronize - all my contacts appeared again in Outlook.
