Outlook email--intermittent connection on BT wifi

I'd be grateful for any help from people who may have experienced this.
I have a problem at home receiving emails on Outlook on my home wifi on a BT hub .  Most days , but not every day , my computer decides it will not send and receive , and in order to get it to connect to send/receive mail , I have to go into Yahoo and log into my mail there, and instantly they simultaneously automatically download into Outlook .   My wife's machine does the same occasionally but there seems to be no patten to the intermittent problem .
When the block occurs in Outlook , we continuously get a pop up dialogue box popping up in the middle of the screen asking me to enter a password .  This is very annoying as it can do it dozens of times in a hour .  Access to the web appears unaffected apart from the pop up box on such occasions .

    I can retrieve email, but can't send email while connected to friends wifi. I think I get message that says "cannot connect to server" (being comcast, which is my home ISP).

    It is possible that your friend's ISP is blocking outbound traffic on the port your mail service provider is expecting your outbound email. Another possibility is that your ISP does not accept outbound email from locations not on their network. Both of these are due to efforts by Internet service providers to curb spam.
    Contact the ISPs involved (I would suggest your own first) to find out what is happening.

  • Windows client intermittent connection to PEAP WIFI backed off to ISE 1.2 wildcard cert

    I am setting up a topology whwere for the first time I am deplying ISE with a wildcard certificate.  This is on ISE 1.2 patch 6, WLC's running 7.6 and Windows 7 clients in AD.  The ISE policy is just to match on machine auth.
    The setting up of the wildcard cert went ok as guided by the CCO ISE 1.2 deployment/cfg guide.
    When it came to testing the client auth as always I start off with the PEAP settings of Validate server certificate off, just to confirm the WLC and ISE are playing ball.  They were, the auth passed.
    I then tick the Validate server certificate, make sure the CA (Windows AD) is in the Trusted Root Certification Authorities.  Retest and the client passes.
    If I then disconnect the wifi and reconnect, either manually or by doing a reboot, the next authenticaiton fails, but nothing has changed.  ISE reports that my Windows client rejected the server certificate.  Which is odd as it just accepted it.
    If I untick the validate the client passes, if i tick it again it will authenticate fine, once.  The next connection it will fail again with the client rejecting ISE.
    Anyone got any ideas?

    I have had a similar issue consistently with 1.2 on both pathc 5 and 6 (not sure about earlier one). Basically what I am seeing is the client rejecting the Server cert when validate is unticked. Most of the time the client connects just fine a few seconds later but some clients need a reboot to fix it. As a rule I put this down to client issue but not 100% sure some times.

    Have been having this problem on and off for a few months now. I have a director who accessed his mailbox from several outlook clients and laptops as well as from mobile accounts. It seems to be happening only from a wireless network too whether connected to
    the domain locally or working from home.
    Sometimes weeks go by and his mailbox is fine but then sometimes for about a week or so he just cannot connect to his mailbox. Connectivity to the server sees fine through ping and tracert is connecting through one hop. Have deleted his profile and re created
     a couple of times but seems to make no difference. Also tried repair under account setting on the profiles too. 
    The error code in outlook is 0x8004011D. Have tried safe moed and tried windows clean boot mode but still not working

  • Cannot send or receive emails when connected to roaming wifi

    Recently I was traveling and stopped in a Starbucks for a coffee and to send some important emails from my MacBook Pro. I signed into the local AT&T WiFi but was unable to send or receive emails through my MobileMe accounts. I checked all the Airport and network settings and cannot figure out why it wouldn't work. Any ideas or solutions?

    Yes. I also tried my Cox account with no success. It would seem to me that MobileMe or another internet based account like Yahoo or Gmail would work, but Cox would require changing the POP and SMTP settings. I would think MobileMe would just work given that it is an IMAP account.

    Try closing the Mail app completely and see if it works properly when you re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Mail app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
    If that doesn't work then try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

    I have a 1st gen iPhone that I just updated the software to 2.0.2
    Now whenever I press the mail icon it goes to the mail app for about 4 seconds, does nothing, no loading of folders, old messages, nothing.
    Then it reverts back to the home screen. Tried restarting, haven't tried restoring, thought I'd look here first.

  • How can I use VPN connection to access my Outlook email?

    My company doesn't support iPhone's so I can't get any help from them -- here is my problem:
    We run Outlook 2003 and they won't tell me the server name for Outlook. I have been able to connect to our Cisco VPN and access internal webpages, etc. Is there anyway I can use this VPN connection to retrieve my Outlook email?
    Or is there anyway I can identify the server name I need to allow the iphone to connect to my Outlook?
    Any help would be much appreciated.

    Yes, it is possible to connect via VPN. However,if IT hasn't set up ActiveSync on the internal Exchange server, this won't work anyway.
    The server name for your Exchange server is in the configuration of Outlook, so you can find it and use that to connect. But that doesn't mean that things are set up correctly to have this work.
    To find your server name, (this is for Outlook 2007), Tools->Options and double-click on the account under the Email tab. The server name is next to "Microsoft Exchange server" on that screen.

    If i understand what you are saying then you are seeing the WiFi indicator after connecting but Apps are saying that they are not connected to the internet?
    Your router may not have given your iPod a valid IP address. Go to Settings > Wifi > your network name and touch the ">" to the right to see the network details. If the IP address starts with 169 or is blank then your router didn't provide an IP address and you won't be able to access the Internet.
    Sometimes the fix can be to restart your router (remove power for 30 seconds and restart). Next, reset network settings on your iPod (Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings) and then attempt to connect. In other cases it might be necessary to update the router's firmware with the latest from the manufacturer's support web pages.
    If you need more help please give more details on your network, i.e., your router make, model and version, the wifi security being used (WEP, WPA, WPA2), etc.

  • Can't send emails from a btinternet address unless connected to a WiFi network

    I am a UK user with an iPhone 5 and Vodafone as my ISP.  After installing IOS 7 both gmail and btinternet addresses continued to work well until I upgraded to IOS 7.0.2 since when while I have been able to receive emails with a btinternet address I cannot send when not connected to a WiFi network and 3G makes no difference - gmail will still receive and send however.
    Does anyone have a solution please?

    Really hard to diagnose without being there, but check with your friend that they don't have any softward filters on wireless router that block ports etc.  If it's not your friends wireless, it could be something much more simple like needing to just restart your ipad to reset settings.  Good Luck!

  • My phone won't connect to the internet even though it says I have 3G.  As soon as I get home it connects to the WIFI and I get a flood of emails etc come through.  Can anyone explain what the problem might be?

    Whilst I'm at work I can't seem to connect to the internet, despite the home screen telling me I have a 3G connection.  I can't get anything to refresh at all, until I go home and my phone auto connects to the WIFI and then I get all my emails and app notifications come through in a flood.
    All other aspects of my phone working fine.

    Check to see if you have cellular data enabled for mail.
    Go to Settings > Cellular and check the apps under "USE CELLULAR DATA FOR:"

    I can not reply to or forward emails from iphone unless it is connected to the wifi at work. It puts it in the out box until i am in range of the wifi. what do i have to do to solve?

    I am trying to connect my outlook email to my mac mail. I have tried it through Exchange, but it is not working. It keeps saying server is unavailable. Help!

    Hi there! I have a 2014 kia C'eed and I also can't get my ipod nano to connect to the bluetooth. Works ok when I plug it into the usb port though, but  didn't want to have to be constantly unplugging it when leaving the car. The nano sees the BT in car but car can't seem to find my nano. If you find a solution can you let us know please?!!!

    I have had my Iphone 4s since April 2012 but I have not been able to send emails unless I am connected to my wifi at home.  I can recieve emails fine but not send them.  I have deleted the accound and added it again and still the same issue.  there is a message that comes up when I add the accound it reads 'The outgoing mail server setting provided is intended for O2 customers in the UK. O2 customers should enter their O2 email address in the Primary Outgoing Mail Server unsername feild and their password.' my network is Orange.  could this be the issue if so how can I fix it?

    It sounds like there is a network/iPhone configuration error.  I would head to a carrier store and verify that the sim and account are configured properly

    I have to turn off my phone everyday as I fly and i need to recieve messages when my phone is turned on if this isnt resolved quickly I am going to have to switch from Apple but I dont want to...
    Apple can you please advise if this is going to be sorted asap? Alot of people dont turn there phones off all of the time so wont notice however for those of us that do and have to this is a really HUGE ERROR that needs your QUICKEST ATTENTION !
