Outlook Email jumps to the top of the mailbox when I change the flag or category

We have some employees with a shared mailbox, this mailbox is sorted by category.
When changing category on a email, the window jumps to the top of the list. It only does this when sorted by category.
We have tried many things:
1. New Outlook profiles
2. New OS with Office 2013
This started after we moved from Outlook 2010 and Hosted Exchange to Outlook 2013 and Office 365
Any help would be appreciated greatly

I think this "issue" is by design.
Since the mailbox is sorted by categories, when an email is given a category, let's say Orange Category, the email will be grouped into
Orange Category, see the image below:
These emails with no category will be grouped into (none).
These categories can be listed whether on the top or at the bottom in the list, it depends on whether the list is in ascending order or descending order(A to Z or
Z to A).
An easy way to not make it jump to the top, change sort by to others.

It works for me. Are you sure you are hovering in the right spot? It's the dividing line between the filmstrip and the Toolbar.

How can I retrieve emails that were deleted off my iPhone 4s when I changed the password to my email acccount?

I changed the password to my email account and when I changed it in my phone all of my emails were deleted Is there any way to retrieve them? They are in the server and I can access them via Outlook just not on my iPhone or iPad.

They won't be in icloud, since the only thing that would contain pictures are backups. But they were deleted before you signed up for icloud, so forget that. The only other thing to check is you computer. Users are always advised to sync photos to computers for archiving. If you did that, you should be able to find them there. But without any backups or copies of them, then they are history.
And no, you can't look at pictures in icloud.

How can I edit an outlook email prior to the form being distributed?

I have recently upgraded from Acrobat X Pro 9 to version 10.1.3 and am now unable to use the below feature.
Before, when distributing a pdf form, I would use the 'desktop email application' option, and when I clicked 'submit' on the form, it would go through all the usual steps, and then when I clicked the final 'next' it would bring up the actual 'email' in an outlook format, with the pdf attached, and the addess in there, but the option to edit.
Now, it just comes up and sends automatically, not allowing me to make any modifications prior to sending.
Is there a simple change I need to make to the settings, or what am I doing wrong?!

Hi, recently my iphone 4 has been removing all my emails from my Outlook email. I see them, read them, then when i open the folder again they have gone! Is this something to do with icloud?

My iphone 4 has 2 email accounts. Gmail and Outlook. I receive and send messages from both. Gmail is default.
Recently my Outlook messages have started to disappear once they have been read. They then appear on my business PC. This is not helpful if I am in Sydney Australia and my PC is in Europe.. How do I stop this from happening please?

Aprp44, the easiest thing you could do, is delete your outlook mail, and readd it. That will usually take care of almost any issue you're having.

You may be having problems in shutting down Firefox properly for some reason.
What is the exact message you receive ?

Outlook email as the device default calendar

I got my Blackberry at the end of February,and established my Outlook email as the default email for the device calendar and have had no problem sync'ing the calendar and contacts between Outlook and the device using the Blackberry Desktop Software.
A Blackberry core update was pushed and installed on the device recently, and since then, the device could not keep the Outlook email as the email for the device default calendar.  Each time when it occured, one of the two things happened: either any appointment I entered on the device would be labeled as Outlook email calendar item, separate from all items of the device default calendar (visible in different color indicator), in which case the added appointmend could not be sync'ed to my desktop Outlook calendar; or all my default calendar items would be reassigned to Outlook email calendar (the color indicator changed to green instead of the default blue), in which case  the device would ask to delete ALL appointment items on my desktop Outlook calendar when sync'ing because it couldn't reconcile the default calendar with the Outlook email calendar.
Each time when the problem occurs, I would delete the Outlook email (so that the device had no default email) and then reinstalled it so that the Outlook email was the email for the device default calendar.  The sync works after that but only for a short while each time. Then the problem reappeared.
When I sync'ed the device with desktop Outlook,  I also noticed that on the device under Setup > Email Accounts, the Synchronization Options for the Outlook email has only the box for "Deleted Items" and not boxes for calendar and contacts, though I don't know whether that makes any difference.
I suspect there must be something wrong in the recent Blackberry core update that is messing up the default calendar when it's linked with an Outlook address. Could you help fixing this problem please.

Hi,
Just to clarify I did not question the VPN connection as being the problem with your email. My point was accessing a networked MS Outlook email account via VPN would I think change the way the sync and reconciliation worked.
The term device default in these calendar discussions can be confusing as "default" is used as a CICAL calendar description and a device calendar description.
The service books could have certainly caused the problems. I would suggest reading this article describing how the device calendar works with items not associated with a CICAL from an email associated calendar. The merge function is not the point, the calendar process is.
Please let me know your thoughts.

Outlook 2007 security warning: " The name of the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site" Article id 940726

I am one of those suffering from the effects of new SAN certificate rules which will NOT support internal .Local domain names and netbios names.
I have a simple single exchange 2010 std server in an AD domain mydomain.local and I am trying to use the Article id 940726 steps to reconfigure the exchange server. I have worked through the steps as described in the article and changed the service connection
point object for the autodiscover service to reference my public host `mail.mydomain.com' and similarly with the ews internalurl etc. I have created a forward lookup zone on my internal AD DNS server and created a host (A) record for the external mail.mydomain.com
to resolve to an internal ip address of the exchange (CAS) server. BUT I have not created an (A) record for autodiscover.mydomain.com because my understanding is that it isnt REQUIRED, however please correct me if I have misunderstood. I believe that domain
joined outlook clients will use the SCP object servicebinding attribute to locate the autodiscover services.
After applying the changes and recyling the MSExchangeAutodiscoverAppPool in IIS, I am struggling to understand why all my internal oulook clients (working perfectly before this change) are being presented with a windows security login box prompting
for user credentials in the UPN format which we havent used before and isnt configured in AD. The windows security box is prepopulated with login name of `[email protected]' and I have not enabled upn logon format in AD always seen the domain\user windows
login box.
Test outlook email configuration fails the autodiscover tests with ...autodiscover.xml failed (0x80040113) httpstatus 503.

Hi Jason, Well, if it is doing that, it is most likely beccause your autodiscoverredirection.hostname.com also respond to port 443/SSL. So, what you need to do is to make sure that specific IP isn't responding to 443. The reason is this, 1. You first hit
https://autodiscover.tenant-domain.com, which this is a CNAME to autodiscoverredirection.hostname.com. So, if autodiscoverredirection.hostname.com respond to 443, it will then give you an error. If it doesn, it will then move on to perform redirection right

I am unable to attach PDFs to Hotmail/Outlook email using my FF browser today. Never had issue before today.

1. I am unable to attach pdfs today in Outlook/Hotmail email using my Firefox browser (27.0.1). I keep getting an error message that says, "The file is not a picture and can't be inserted inline." I do not understand why I keep getting this error message. I am not attempting to insert an image. I am selecting to Insert Files as Attachments from the drop down menu.
No matter how many times I attempt to attach various pdfs to my emails today using Firefox as my browser, I keep getting this same error message. I have cleared the cache, cleared all cookies, cleared all history, signed out of my Hotmail/Outlook account, signed back in, restarted computer, etc., to no avail. Same problem.
2. I switched to my Safari browser, and have no problem attaching pdfs in my Hotmail/Outlook email account. The pdfs are attaching perfectly as usual. My emails are being sent normally with the attachments. The attached pdfs are being received and are opening perfectly as intended.
3. Why am I unable to attach files with Firefox today? Firefox is my browser of choice and I have used it with my Hotmail/Outlook email account without any problems, till today. Please help me! Thank you!

Thank you jscher2000. Yes my PDFs do contain the .pdf extension. I tried your excellent idea to utilize the drag and drop method, but I still get the same error message with PDFs. I have no problem attaching photos or Word documents with either method; just PDFs.
For further diagnostics, I started composing my email in Safari, attached all my pdfs and saved my email as a Draft. I then went to Firefox, opened the draft to continue working on it, and voila! There are all the pdfs I attached previously while in Safari. I was able to send the email with attachments through Firefox with no issues. The attachments went through and were able to be opened.
I am mystified, as Firefox has been trouble-free with my email account, and I have never had this particular issue till today. I made no changes to anything else on my computer, but I did notice very late last night that Outlook had one of those typical messages at the top of my Inbox to refresh my browser since Outlook had been updated. I refreshed and shut down for the night, and when I rebooted this morning that is when I discovered this brand new glitch with attachments. I'm assuming this has something to do their last update.

Outlook emails at work - transferring to mac Entourage or Mail or anything at home !

I use PC Outlook at work. I have loads of personal emails but work does not allow me to use the "export" function to export any emails from my work system, even if personal (ugh). So I cannot export my emails or folders as a .pst file (or anything else).
What I am able to do is copy and paste individual Outlook emails on to my personal hard drive, as a .msg file.
Is there a good way I can transfer these .msg files on my hard drive into a readable format on my Mac at home (e.g. I have Entourage or Mail or Yahoo or Gmail)?
I know I will have lost the date/time stamp/ordering system, but I would be happy just to be able to access the email text and attachments (even if not ordered by date/time). Is this possible?
Apologies if this has been discussed to death on these forums. I have tried searching the forums but most of the previous discussions seem to presume you can export the files from work, rather than the messy cut and paste of .msg files.

But if anyone has a better solution (i.e. a free solution ! ) or a better tip of transferring Outlook emails (without using the "export" function, as it is disabled at work), then I'd be grateful.

Extracting files from Portfolio - problem with outlook email created portfolios

Currently I have developed a plugin that can extract files from portfolios using:-
PDNameTree tree = PDDocGetNameTree(pdDoc, ASAtomFromString("EmbeddedFiles"));
and
PDFileAttachmentFromCosObj
But i've noticed with Outlook email created portfolios the above is PDNameTree invalid. any suggestions? is it under another atom string or something?

ok, found something out here... if I close the doc using AVDocClose then re-open in the code using PDDocOpen then the PDNameTree tree = PDDocGetNameTree(pdDoc, ASAtomFromString("EmbeddedFiles")); works!!!
but now I have a problem getting the original pdf open filename.
usually can get it with below code but it's returning the Folder path + garbage instead. (this only happens with portfolios created by outlook that I have tested)
There must be a better way of doing this, any ideas? thanks, lee.

Which version of Outlook are you using? I have 2000, and part of the initial setup asks if I want to use Internet, Corporate, or No Email. Anything after 2000 should have similar options. So no, you don't need to have a Microsoft outlook email to use the calendar.

Nokia icon and cannot access outlook email

I have a nokia icon and cannot access outlook email through verizon cellular service but can access when connected to wi fi. I purchased the phone on June 15, 2014 and it worked fine until yesterday evening, July 29th when the verizon cellular stopped syncing with outlook on company server.

Sometimes Windows Phone gets stuck in getting data via WiFi when there is no WiFi and won't switch back to data.
I used to have that problem in 8.0 with 8.1 it went away. Don't forget to mark your question answered

How do I jump to the top of the email list on an iPad?

On the iPhone I can tap the status bar to jump to the top of the list of my unified inbox. But on the iPad that doesn't work. Tapping the center or right of the status bar in iPad email does nothing, tapping on the left side near the Wi-Fi symbol reveals my list of mailboxes. I have to manually swipe and swipe and swipe and swipe to get to the top of my email list. Is there no shortcut?
Having the scrollbar showing position on the list disappear isn't helpful either.

I found the sweet spot mid- way between Inbox and Edit at the very top of the screen. I checked both the iPhone and iPad User Guides and couldn't find any mention of it. Thanks for the tip.

It sounds like you're having a more complicated problem than I was, but just in case anyone out there is in the same boat, here's the solution (which I wasn't able to find in any forums thus far) to a simple problem I was having.
If you're using a single email account with iOS 7 on a device like an iPad 2, you've hit the cancel button on an email and selected "Save Drafts," but later realized that you're unable to find the draft folder anywhere, then the fix is actually pretty simple. All you have to do is open your email account, hit the "Mailboxes" tab in the top left corner, tap the "Edit" button (to the right of the "Mailboxes" header), select "Add Mailbox" from the first section, and then just tap "Drafts" and "Done."
Afterwards, just go to your Mailboxes tab and you should see the draft folder listed, in which will be whatever drafts you've saved so far.
