Outlook emails at work - transferring to mac Entourage or Mail or anything at home !

Hi,
I use PC Outlook at work.  I have loads of personal emails but work does not allow me to use the "export" function to export any emails from my work system, even if personal (ugh).  So I cannot export my emails or folders as a .pst file (or anything else).
What I am able to do is copy and paste individual Outlook emails on to my personal hard drive, as a .msg file.
Is there a good way I can transfer these .msg files on my hard drive into a readable format on my Mac at home (e.g. I have Entourage or Mail or Yahoo or Gmail)?
I know I will have lost the date/time stamp/ordering system, but I would be happy just to be able to access the email text and attachments (even if not ordered by date/time).  Is this possible?
Apologies if this has been discussed to death on these forums.  I have tried searching the forums but most of the previous discussions seem to presume you can export the files from work, rather than the messy cut and paste of .msg files.
Thank you.

Oh !  I have now found a discussion thread which recommended this, which looks like a solution: http://www.element26.net/products/shop/outlook-msg-viewer/  .  This forum is great !
But if anyone has a better solution (i.e. a free solution ! ) or a better tip of transferring Outlook emails (without using the "export" function, as it is disabled at work), then I'd be grateful.
Thanks.

  • Any Suggestions-I Can't get K-12 school '03 Outlook email to work on iPhone

I’m a principal at a K-12 public school in Ohio. The IT department has tried to get my 2003 Outlook email account to work on my i Phone 3Gs. We’ve checked to make sure all ports are open and everything is typed in and spelled correctly. When I enter the information, and go through the appropriate steps, it shows that the account is verified, but when I go into that account no emails show up even though it says it was updated. When I try to send emails it tells me that an error occurred while delivering this message, but they will sometimes get sent an hour or two later when I change some of the settings or turn off the account. When I called Apple they told me this was a Microsoft (Outlook) problem, is it???? Has anyone else had the same trouble??? One of the biggest reason’s I got an i Phone was to check email and have my calendar on me when I’m out in classrooms, but so far I’m stuck. Any suggestions???

Although it is possible to access a POP account with more than one email client, a POP account is designed to be accessed with a single email client only.
The account's Inbox mailbox with a POP account is not kept synchronized with the server as with an IMAP account.
What is your account setting with Outlook for removing messages from the server when downloaded? Since you will be accessing the account with the iPhone's Mail client also, the account's setting with Outlook should be Never.
In addition, do you always keep Outlook on your PC launched and running actively checking the account for new messages? If so, you need to quit Outlook when using your iPhone to access the account. Since a POP account is designed to be accessed with a single email client only, if more than one email client tries to access the incoming mail server for the account at the same time, the incoming mail server will temporarily lock out the 2nd email client that is trying to access the incoming mail server at the same time. This includes if Outlook is downloading new messages received at the incoming mail server while the iPhone's Mail client attempts to check the incoming mail server for new messages. The incoming mail server will temporarily lock out the iPhone's Mail client, and vice-versa when in reverse.
Is the outgoing mail server or SMTP server for the account an authenticated SMTP server? If not, you will have problems sending messages with the account when connected to a wi-fi network away from school and when connected to the internet via AT&T's cellular network. Most internet service providers block the use of SMTP servers that are outside of their network or not provided by the internet service provider being used for your internet connection at the time unless the SMTP server is authenticated.
A Blackberry does not communicate direct with the incoming mail server for an email account. RIM provides a dedicated email delivery service for the Blackberry which is located in Canada. The iPhone's Mail client communicates direct with the incoming and outgoing mail server for an email account - the same when accessing an email account with an email client on your computer such as with Outlook.

  • Old Outlook emails (windows) on to Thunderbird (Mac); Files already on Mac

Hi, I have looked at several forums, including this one, and cannot find an answer to my question. If you can help I would hugely appreciate it.
    1) I used to use Microsoft Outlook on a Windows PC.
    2) I now have a Macbook Pro with OS Leopard
    3) I use Thunderbird as my current email programme on my Mac
    4) When I had my windows PC I saved my old emails into a two files (one for sent items, one for inbox items). I currently have these two files (about 3 GB in size each) saved in a folder on my Mac. When I look at the 'info' section, it says they are 'Unix Executable Files'.
I wish to transfer my old Outlook emails into Thunderbird, open them and save them in my appropriate folders. I currently use a Gmail account that is IMAP-linked, but I don't think this is in any way relevant to my problem.
Can someone help me open these old emails in Thunderbird?

I don't know if this helps but check out Outlook2MaC.

  • TS3899 email not working after latest mac download

I downloaded the latest update for my Iphone 4s 2 days ago. My POP3 email stopped sending emails- could not connect to server immediately. Then a day later I stopped receiving emails- same message. I have performed first a reset, then a full factory reset and after initially working last night I am getting the same message when trying to send emails this morning. I received a test mail that I sent from my Imac BUT I am in my house and think that this is probably through my modem in the house- Wi Fi. How can I get my POP3 account working WITHOUT going on line through Safari- long winded and inconvenient.

I'm sorry that you're having problems. Can you answer these questions so that we can better help you?
What "Adobe update" are you referring to?  Adobe Flash Player? Adobe Reader? Something else?  (Adobe produces countless products/services, so we need to know what got updated on your computer.)
Are you using the Adobe Send service? Note that you posted your question in a forum that's used for suggesting new features for that service.
Can you attach other files to emails, but not just PDFs?
What email program are you using?

  • Outlook email not working

I have been trying to set up my outlook email on the iPhone. I have tried everything. All of the settings were correct. At one time I could receive but not send, then I could send and not recieve. Now I can't do either. I have tried setting it up in POP, IMAP, and Exchage. I think it's a POP account and have left it as such. The account is a company account, thru an ISP. Do I use the company email address or the ISP address when setting it up? Any info on setting up the account on the iPhone would be helpful. Thank you in advance.
    Ben Daily

I use Outlook, I have checked the settings and set up the account on the iPhone with those settings. I have also tried using the simple mail set up on this site, but unfortunatly it does not recognize my ISP. I live in Alaska, and the iPhone is new up here as AT&T has just taken over Dobson. I have contacted the ISP and they informed my to contact AT&T. Since the email acct. is not set up with AT&T, I am not sure how much help they would be.

  • How to resize an object in an Outlook email on a Mac?

When I bring an object, say a screenshot of a web site, inside an Outlook email on a Retina display Mac, the image is typically hige and cannot be resized. In Outlook for Windoes, you can just resize it any size you want by clicking on a corner and resizing. In Mac Mail, there is an option to resize but with only 3 predefined sizes (small, medium, and large if my memory serves me well). Can this resizing be done in Outlok mail and I just missed it? If not can Apple work with Microsoft to get them to put this basic feature in? And do a better job with Apple Mail on this?
I am the guinea pig for my company to see if we should not switch everyone to Mac. I like Mac a lot, but there are a few basic features like this one that may make it impossible. Another one is the seemingly lack of ability to turn on auto formating of hyperlinks in Outlook or Aple Mail. When I ahve talked to an Apple Geniws on these 2 issues, they typically tell me they don;t know much about Outlook and they want to focus on Mac Mail. The probem is my entire company, like many, is using Outlook exchange and is not going to change that anytime soon. Is there a solution to this resizing issue?

This may not be the correct design, but I had success doing the following:
    1. Create an Stateless EJB that does a task, i.e. update a database table.
    2. Create a subclass of java.util.TimerTask to call the EJB methods.
    3. Kick off the TimerTask from a servlet.init method.
Seems to work pretty well to do scheduled tasks, such as refreshing lookup tables. I would imagine the same could be done with an MBean, but I haven't had time to fully understand JMX yet. (It's on the list).
As for event driven procedures, that can be done through a servlet interface.
You may also wish to review a scheduler here: http://www.part.net/quartz.html. Note, I have NOT even looked at it yet, so I have no clue if it's any good. But, it is on my list of tools to evaluate (that's a long list) someday when my head's above water. Have a look, and caveat emptor.
    Hope this helps,

  • IPhone 4 Email stopped working

From yesterday, my email on iPhone 4 stopped working. I deleted the account and reset the account many times. Still just spinning and showing "Checking for Mail.." In box is blank. Need help. Thanks in advance!

Not sure if this is the same thing, because my symptoms are slightly different (not limited to wireless vs. 3G). My iPhone 4 Email stopped working yesterday, constantly connecting or checking mail and spinning...only stopping every 30minutes to 1hr. The reason I end up recognizing this problem is all of a sudden I'm out of charge because the phone goes active and never stops.
I'm nearly 100% sure this is not hardware, because this is the issue I hoped to get away from with my iPhone 3G. Had the issue ever since 3.1.3 upgrade. I did not carry anything over from the old phone (did not sync with my itunes backup), so everything is different, shiny and new except for the e-mail and calendar accounts that I connect to (I even put those settings in manually).
I'm starting to think that it has a relationship to the calendar, some sort of cross mail and calendar issue. I'm able to completely disable calendar syncing on Exchange and MobileMe and Mail starts working again. Plus Calendar was the first application to crash.
At least the whole iPhone OS didn't end up crashing which is what my 3G used to do. Would be nice to know exactly what the bug that is triggering this, I'm guessing there is some kind of amount of external mail/calendar events synced trigger.

  • Share photos by email not working. Brings up grayed out check box? Want to share photos thru Entourage.

Share photos by email not working in Photos Version 1.0 (209.52.0) on a Macbook Pro 17" Yosemite 10.10.3.  Brings up grayed out check box? Want to share photos thru  MS Entourage for Mac 2008 Ver. 12.3.6  Thanks!

@Naiks, having suffered through unsuccessful synching attempts for Calendar and Contacts myself, l would suggest you try the following:
UNINSTALL iCloud control panel from your PC. Seems silly, but do it.
Go into Outlook, and look at the very top menu. Click FILE, then ACCOUNT SETTINGS, then click the popup box.
You will see a list of all your email accounts. Make sure that ONE of them has a checkmark against it. If not, select the account your want as your default, and click "set as default.
Exit out of Outlook and reboot your machine.
Now reinstall iCloud, check CALENDAR and CONTACTS, and do as instructed when prompted.
Reboot for good luck and now launch OUTLOOK. All that remains is to locate your iCloud Contacts and Calendar files, and make them your default.
IMPORTANT: Don't panic if you can't find your contacts -- they're there. Click CONTACTS and you'll see you have several available contact files. Locate the one label "iCloud" in grey type. Right-click on it, select PROPERTIES, then click the Outlook Address Book tab. Check the box that says something like "Make this my default Outlook Address Book." Keep clicking "apply" and "okay" until you've exited out of the dialog box maze.
You may have to do something similar with your Calendar files. I dd not, but if you need to, do it.
Everything should now sync pretty seamlessly.
I didn't have the exact same problem as you, but my dilemma was close enough. Good luck!

  • HT3748 My exchange email account works in iPhone but it does not work in mac, how do i solve it?

I've tried several times to add my work exchange email account on macBook Pro but it cant connect to the server. It works fine on my iPhone. Is there any solution to this problem?

Are you connecting to Exchange 2003? If yes, Mail requires Exchange 2007 and higher. Your iPhone can connect but not Mail. You would have to setup as POP in Mail. Microsoft Entourage 2008 connects to Exchange 2003. It's old End of Life software so it will receive no further updates.
If you are using one of the newer versions of Exchange you might need to turn off AutoDiscover settings. This link has directions for Microsoft Outlook:

  • Outlook email account not working

I am not a MAC person but I have tried everything I can think of. This is for one of our customers and we are just trying to help them out. It is running Mavericks OS with Outlook 2011 v14. The issue is we can put different email addresses in but the one we want to use will not work.
-For example: We put put in [email protected] and it works. We can put in [email protected] and it works. send receive no problem.
-We change it to [email protected] and it says it sent but never gets delivered. She can receive just fine. EXACT same settings and same server for all the emails. Also tried [email protected] and same issue
-We have deleted all of the email settings and started over / no luck
-We have compared outlook to another identical machine /no differences we can find
-We put [email protected] on 2 different windows machines at our office using outlook and it works fine so I do not see how it can be server related.
I have never had anything like this happen on Windows or MAC and I am out of ideas.
I would appreciate any advise no matter how crazy it might be.

    Bump.
Really finding no solution to this.  It makes zero sense.  Any help would be appreciated!

Yes. This is all verizon information.
User name: appeared on the form for me, it is the same as my email alias
Password: I used my Verizon account password
    Correct.
Incoming mail server is incoming.yahoo.verizon.net and outgoing server is outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net. I changed the 110 port to 25, and turned off SSL.
Why did you change that port? Incoming is 110, outgoing is 25.
Every time I try to send or receive mail, I get a pop-up box asking for a password. I give it my Verizon password, then mail fails. If anyone has experience with Verizon email, please tell me what I am doing wrong. I have been trying to get the email to work for several hours now.
Check the Verizon site for examples. They will have more than webmail. You don't have to look for anything specific to Apple Mail. There will be settings for Outlook, just use those.

  • Outlook 2011 for Mac + Oracle Outlook Email Integration On Demand

Does anyone know of a "Oracle Outlook Email Integration On Demand" plug in that'll work with Outlook 2011 for Mac?

    Hi,
Thanks for all of the responses - I have now done these suggested settings which has downloaded all of the separate inbox folders but I am still having a couple of errors:
1: If I delete an email on outlook 2011 it doesn't actually delete it from my email account
Are you 100% sure the account is now IMAP?
2: I am unable to send any emails I get an SMTP error?
Have you ticked the 'My outgoing server requires authentication' box in the outgoing server section.
3: I still have to click send/receive to receive any emails
This is for Outlook 2010 on Windows, but there will be something similar on your version. Go to File>Options>Advanced>Send/Receive where you should be able to set the parameters required.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated
