  • Error message when opening Outlook: The operation failed. The messaging interfaces have returned an unknown error. If the problem persists, restart Outlook.

In an Exchange 2010 server/Outlook 2013 environment, one of our users is getting an error message every time they start Outlook. The error message says: "The operation failed. The messaging interfaces have returned an unknown error. If the problem
    persists, restart Outlook."
The error log message details are as follow:

    The system is as follows:
Size of .pst file: 2.3 GB (Unicode format so there should be plenty of space left)
    OS: Windows 7 (64-Bit)
    Application: Outlook 2013 (32-Bit)
The user upgraded from Outlook 2010 a few months ago and the error message has only recently started appearing on startup. I thought it was a corrupt mail profile, so I have already tried creating a new mail profile, as well as the repairing tool in Outlook.
I even tested another email account and that worked just fine. So apparently it is something wrong with the specific user's account/profile and not something wrong with the computer - since my email account worked fine on his computer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same error message, only in my situation Outlook would only open successfully every 4 or 5 attempts. When Outlook would open (versus just hanging at the splash screen), I would get two dialog boxes with the warning/error message.
After I clicked okay I could get into Outlook.
Previously I experienced this problem running my Office 2010 client with my Exchange 2007 mailbox on my old laptop.  The problem followed my mailbox through an Exchange 2010 migration (so new Exchange org), client upgrade to Outlook 2013, and a new
laptop (so I knew it wasn't a corrupt profile).  This led me to the conclusion that it was a corrupt item(s) in my mailbox.
To resolve the issue, I archived *everything* in my mailbox to a PST file, ran SCANPST to fix the corruption, and then uploaded everything back into my Exchange mailbox one folder at a time, stopping after each folder to close and restart Outlook so I could
narrow down which folder had the corrupt item if the problem recurred.  I'm happy to say my issue is now resolved.

  • CSA 6.0 event log error - Operation Failed

You are possibly encountering bug CSCtg78612.  This occurs when the CSA MC is updated from an earlier version of 6.0 to 6.0.2 and managed agents have not yet been upgraded.  You should be able to address the issue by scheduling agent upgrades for the affected hosts.

I have an issue similar to this one

This started a few weeks ago for some users. Users cannot send emails generated from 2 3rd party apps. They get the error "The Operation has failed".
Not all users are affected but the only solution is to turn on Cached Mode in Outlook.

  • Outlook Error- Item Failed

I am not sure what happened or why it stopped, but I used to be able to convert entire outlook folders and save them to a file and now I just keep getting an error from Adobe that the item failed to convert.  I read a few other similar complaints and tried to run repairs as they suggested and un-installed Adobe Reader as it was suggested in one post that it may the cause of the error.  Nothing seems to work, any suggestions?

    Hi Nazih,
First I would like you to ask you two things:
    1. Make use of the search here on SDN to find a solution to your problem. A similar question was actually asked yesterday!
    2. Please be more generous to the ones that answer your question. Looking through your old threads I barely see the use of any stars.
Now to you question. As mentioned before I just summarized yesterday a list of notes that should help find a solution to problems with local editing, and now I just added this list to the Wiki for others to make additions:
    https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/KMC/HowtotroubleshootproblemswithLocalEditing
Hope it will be helpful for you,

  • Remote Desktop Services Properties - Operation failed: Access is denied

    Hi
when i try to change the Remote Desktop Services User Profile Path with ADUC i get the error "Operation failed: Access is denied"
This error occurs in a subdomain with the Domain Admin of the Subdomain. I'm able to change this attribute with the Enterprise Admin.
As far as I understand this attribute is set in the userParameters but I don't know what permissions must be set to allow the Domain Admin to change this Attribute and why the Enterprise Admin is allowed to change the Attribute and the subdomain Admin not.
    Our AD Schema is 2003.

    Hi,
As per I know, this is by design because enterprise admin has full control in every domain within the forest but sub domain admin only has full control in its own domain. SO when subdomain admin try to modify they receive error instead of enterprise admin.
But still if you want to assign the permission to subdomain user to change then you can delegate below permission to user.
    Read msTSProfilePath
    Write msTSProfilePath
    Snap:
    Hope it helps!
    Thanks.

first 44-1 is not the current firmware.   if you "skip" a firmware ,or a pre-firmware release the device will force you to use NSU (nokia software updater) that is part of pc suite.
    1. backup device to sd card.
    2. do firmware install via pc suite.
    e. do restore
since pc suite wipes the device it never gives you 'not enough memory' errors.

  • When you try to send or to receive email in Outlook 2010, you may receive one of these error messages: 0x8004010F: Outlook data file cannot be accessed. or 0x8004010F: The operation failed. An object could not be found.

0x8004010F: The operation failed. An object could not be found.
    1. reviewed Profile instructions
    2. Ran SytTools thinking it would fix the error. NO although I could send received I ended up with a giant pst
    3. Back to Profile Instructions.
    4. Set up new profile with my email address. email address tested well. Run Outlook. loads as outlook data PST
and  gmail address PST.  Deleted all the Gmail subscriptions to improve speed. Original error was gone but have two GIGANIC PST FILES.
    5. Set up another new profile with my email address and a named pst.  Run Outlook under that Profile -
comes up with newly named pst and the gmail addrress pst (although I can't figure out where that pst is located. Will not let me use email address as default Profile.  Tried different approaches and still ended up always with the gmail address pst.  Deleted
all profiles but email address and comes   up.
    6. Should I just go ahead and use the gmail address pst  I need to import data or download data from gmail
    to get last years correspondence.e
    7. Outlook is my lifeblood, I am in communications and every submitted email gets moved to a file with an update.
    Help?
    8. One option is to merge psts but might make worse mess.
    Thanks.  Beautiful Beach weather here!

To resolve error 0x8004010F , identify the current location of your default Outlook data file, and then create a new Outlook profile.
Step 1- Locate the default Outlook data file
Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
    In Control Panel, click Mail.
In the Mail Setup - Outlook dialog box, click Show Profiles.
Select your current Outlook profile, and then click Properties.
In the Mail Setup - Outlook dialog box, click Data Files.
Select the Data Files tab in the Account Settings dialog box, and then note the name and location of the default data file for your profile (a check mark will denote the default data file).
    Click Close.
Step 2 - Create a new Outlook profile
Step 3 - Configure your new Outlook profile as the default profile

  • Outlook error "The Delegate settings were not saved correctly. cannot activate send-on-behalf-of list. The operation failed"

    Hi,
Re: "The Delegate settings were not saved correctly. cannot activate send-on-behalf-of list.  The operation failed"
I have a client who is getting the above error when attempting to change delegate permissions in Outlook 2010.
She is also getting this error when she tries to remove a delegate.
I have tried recreating her mail profile.
I have also tried kb2593557. The auto fix didn't work at all and the registry fix only removes the error message and not the problem. This client would like to be able to edit her delegate permissions.
    She is on Exchange 2010
    Any assistance would be appreciated.

The article you provided is not related to the error message that the user is getting it.
Can you please provide better solution? I know this answer and this post is old but I am having same issue.
The error message is only (The Delegates settings were not saved correctly. cannot activate send-on-behalf-of list. The operation failed) I was not able to attach screen shot.

  • Outlook 2013 Changing Shared Calendar Appointment Categories causes error The Operation failed the messaging interfaces have returned an unknown error

    Hi
Our user used to be able to change the categories in a shared outlook calendar appointment but is now getting the error:
The Operation failed the messaging interfaces have returned an unknown error. If the problem persists, restart Outlook.
We have tried re-creating the mail profile but still get the same error.
If anyone has any other suggestions, that would be great, thanks.

Glad to hear that it works fine in new profile. It seems your old OST file or other file in profile is corrupted. After you create a new profile, Outlook would re-sync your mailbox to a totally new OST as the data file.
