Outlook Global Address List question

Hello,
We have changed our company name and I have updated all our users in Exchange 2007 so they have the new email address, but when users open their Outlook clients (2007-210) and click on the Global address list it will show "Global Address List - [email protected]"
instead of "Global Address List - [email protected]"
I I recreate the uses Outlook profile is will then show the users correct name, but I can' do this for 100s of uses, is there a workaround?
Thanks

mail enabled user, and mailbox enabled user are two different things.....
You need to look at what that 3rd party piece of software is doing.  If it is manipulating Exchange mailboxes, then it needs to use the Exchange cmdlets.  Directly ripping attributes is not how this is tested or supported.  Please get them
to use the proper Exchange tools to manage Exchange recipients.

  • Get name from Outlook Global Address List and other info

Hi, I hope somebody can help me. I'm new in Acrobat scripting so I need some more Help.
I have a link that executes a script that will send an e-mail message.
    This is my script:
    app.mailMsg(true,"[email protected]","[email protected]","","This is the subject","This is the body of the mail.");
I noticed that when executing this script, Acrobat opened the Outlook Global Address List to verify the e-mail accounts; which is great.
Now, I'd like to know if there is a command that does this:
    1. (before opening Outlook new message window) Open a window asking for the recipient e-mail address.. with the possibility to get it from the Outlook Global Address Book
    2. Open a second window asking the same as above but putting the e-mail address in the "CC" field.
    2. Finally, the New Message window appears with the "to", "cc", "subject" and "body" fields filled.
    I'd really appreciate your help.
Also.... is there any other command to get date and hour in a variable?
    Thanks :)

    Hey Cristian,
I'm interested in your link script. How do you use it? In what program are you and where do you put the actual script?
    Thanks,

  • Connecting to Outlook Global Address List

I have an application which needs to email the contents of a record to one or more people in our Outlook Global Address List. I would like to present the user with the GAL so he/she may pick the recipient. Anybody done this?

    Tyler,
Since having read about your implementation, I've built an AD package with many functions that are very useful in ApEx. I was previously unaware of pipelined functions - I thank you for that.
As for the 1000 limit... This is something that you'll run into in a large company. For example, if the filter used was on samAccountName, and the user just types "a" well chances are that there are many people that have a name with an "a" in it. I don't necessarily want to display that many results, but when a filter doesn't limit the result set down that's just what you get.
You are correct that the 1000 result limit is a setting on the LDAP server, but VBScript has the ability to set a "page size". This allows the code to work past the limit without issue. I'm not sure if we have that in DBMS_LDAP.

  • Intermittent Issues querying Outlook Global Address List

we have exchange 2010 and most of our users are on outlook 2013, W7 64bit.
i cannot figure out why but when our users try to access the GAL when sending a new email it intermittently hangs.. sometimes works perfect.. other times it locks up outlook and they have to use task manager/end program to get out of outlook..
    Any ideas for me?

    Hi,
I recommend you check if OWA has this issue at first to determine whether the issue is related to Outlook side.
What's more, I would like to verify if the Outlook connects the CAS for the Directory type in the same site with user's mailbox.
    Hoe it helps.

  • Global Address List Question

Where does the GAL get the e-mail address from? I'm a little confused with a problem we have.
    Scenario:
User has an AD account that is mail enabled with a mailbox attached to it. Our Identity Management system is updating the AD account's mail attribute with a different e-mail address than the mailbox that is attached to the account. The user is claiming that
her e-mails are going to the e-mail address that is in the mail attribute (that was updated by the Identity Mgmt system) and not to the mailbox that is attached to her account.
Not exactly sure why this is happening - I would think that the GAL would always show the e-mail address for the mailbox that is attached to the account.

mail enabled user, and mailbox enabled user are two different things.....

  • Importing Shared Contacts into the Global Address List (Outlook 2013)

A colleague of mine has made a contact list which is going to be shared with other colleagues to increase productivity.
His question is, if it's possible to import the contact list into the Global Address List after it has been shared?
The contact list does not appear in my Global Address List, instead it appears in the People section (next to Calender).
If you need technical info about the office version etc., feel free to ask!
    Thanks in advance.

    SP-Brown,
You can import contacts into Active Directory, so that it can be included in GAL. There are some gotchas with that however. Maybe, a simple Outlook folder sharing is more convenient for you. You can share Outlook Contacts folders among collagues just the
same as Outlook Calendar sharing works. Start here:
    https://support.office.com/en-au/article/Share-an-Outlook-calendar-with-other-people-cafb9303-1b1e-40d3-839d-b6abac03a5e8
    https://support.office.com/en-in/article/Share-a-contacts-folder-with-others-58ca1290-e170-4f89-a213-03aa6750bcf3
With Exchange Public Folders you can achieve somewhat the same.
If you really want to mess with AD and the GAL, this is your article:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/activedirectoryua/archive/2011/01/14/import-mail-contact-into-active-directory-using-csvde.aspx

The ideal situation would be if the shared Contacts Folder shows up in the Offline GAL, but I'll try to fiddle around with it for a bit.
Is there also a possibilty that users can import a contact list so that appears in their Offline GAL?, I do think that it might be a hassle to keep the contacts updated....

  • Global Address List Not Updating in Outlook

I have a question from user about Global Address Not updating in Outlook. We have a user whom name was changed, how ever his new name didn't appeared on Global Address List in Outlook client
I did explained to him that Outlook require about 48 hours to reflect a new update Global Address List then he asked me why previously (24 hours) his old name also disappear from Global Address List.
    Could you please advice.

    Hi,
Please check whether the new name is updated in Global Address List when the user accesses his mailbox from OWA and Outlook Online mode.
If the new name is also not changed in GAL for OWA, please refer to bawzman's suggestion to run cmdlets to update globel address list in Exchange server.
If the issue only happens in Outlook cached mode, the issue should be related to Offline Address Book which is used for Cached mode as Globle Address List. We can manually download it and update the address list by clicking Send/Receive > Send/Receive
Groups > Download Address Book to have a try.

  • Outlook / Oracle Global Address List

Just a couple of quick questions regarding manipulating the Global Address List.
Firstly, is it possible to hide an entry that exists in the Oracle Directory Service from the GAL (for example, removing the orcladmin user from the address book).? Also whats the best way to expose an Alias to the GAL? We use aliases, coupled with a server side rules, to deliver mail to shared folders and would like the aliases visible in the address book to all users.
On an unrelated point, is it possible to automatically un-hide new shared folders within the outlook connector? (i.e. instead of having to go to the properties for Shared Folders and manually un-hiding them on each users machine, can it be done administratively, remotely?)
    Thanks.

    Hello
I don't know if you can do LDAP with VBA, but the OCS directory can be querried that way.

  • Accessing the global Address List using Java Outlook Connector

    Hi All,
I have written a code to access the Global Address List using (Jar) in Java outlook Connector
However i am able to retriev the name and email address of that employee only.
I want the other details like location(particularly).
    Please help out.
    Thanks,
    Arijit.

The scenario is i am an employee and i want to get information regarding other employees(name, location) which are stored in outlook through my java application(using JOC).Just a point of clarification, there is no actual java code in the Sun Outlook Connector. The use of Java with most of our products names is for marketing/branding purposes only.
Now there are employees who are not stored in my address book or local contacts. For them when i try to read the GAL i can get only their name and email address. So the 'cn:' (name) and 'mail:' (email address) attributes are being provided by the directory for a GAL search.
however if i try displaying their details using the JOC it comes with proper information through the outlook pop up but cannot read this data.As I said in my previous response, the data that the Sun Outlook Connector provides in the GAL view is determined by the user that the GAL binds to the directory server as, plus the restrictions that user has on the information the directory server will provide for GAL searches/queries.
This bind user is usually different from the 'super-user' bind user that UWC/Communications Express uses which is why you may see more information in UWC/CE compared to in the GAL in Outlook.
Therefore you need to work with the Directory Server administrator to increase the information that the Sun Outlook Connector user is able to see.

  • Outlook Connector - Address book - Global Address List

Using Outlook Connector version 7.2.402.1 on both Outlook 2003 and 2007 I am having an issue when trying to view the Global Address List. The vertical scroll bar doesn't activate unless I resize my Address Book window. Even after that it doesn't work that well. It is very erratic.
I have set up a VLV index for the Address book as follows:
    dn: cn=outlook_connector_browsing_index,cn=xyz,cn=ldbm database,cn=plugins,cn=config
    cn: outlook_connector_browsing_index
    objectclass: top
    objectclass: vlvSearch
    vlvbase: o=xyz.edu,dc=xyz,dc=edu
    vlvfilter: (&(mail=*)(cn=*))
    vlvscope: 2
    dn: cn=Sort cn,cn=outlook_connector_browsing_index,cn=xyz,cn=ldbm database,cn=plugins,cn=config
    cn: Sort cn
    objectclass: top
    objectclass: vlvIndex
    vlvenabled: 1
    vlvsort: cn
Doing a tail -f on the access log while using the Address Book I can see the VLV index being used. Is there something buggy with the Outlook Connector or is there something I missed in the VLV index?
    Thanks,
    Scott

It does not seem to work with SSL connections. When Outlook starts up, I get an error that it cannot connect the address book server.I was able to find the following that may be a cause for your problem:
    http://wikis.sun.com/display/CommSuite/Connector+for+Microsoft+Outlook+7.3+Release+Notes
6228253 : Login to Address Book server fails through Outlook.
Users are unable to log into the Address Book server though Outlook if the Address Book (in Communications Express) is in SSL mode.
Workaround: Open Communications Express within Internet Explorer and permanently accept the self-signed certificate. In this case instead of Communications Express, you would log into Convergence using the SSL path (https://server.domain.com/iwc) and permanently accept the certificate.

  • Global Address List in Outlook

    Hi
We are using Outlook Connector version 7.1 (patch 122018-02 ).
We are able to connect to the Mail, Calendar and the users personal Address Book. But the global address list is empty.
What should be done to have it accessed through outlook.
    Please help.
    Thanks

I found the problem. I didn't check the box 'Require authentication' under the tab LDAP - Global Address List.

  • Outlook Connector - Global Address list

Our Outlook hangs when we try to open the Global Address List from LDAP. This totally locks the computer.
What should be done to overcome the problem?

What do you see in the LDAP access log when you do this?
It's possible that your global list is returning more entries than your ldap is configured to allow, ad Outlook isn't happy with the results. It's also possible that the search is simply taking a loooong time.

  • Disable Global address list suggestions when composing e mail

I got a question of one of my users a few days ago pointing out that when using an Iphone with Active Sync / Exchange synchronisation he is not able to disable e mail address suggestions he gets when typing the e mail address in the TO field comming from the Global Address list.
My user wants to use his personal contacts he uses in Outlook, but does not want to use the Global Address list from exchange. (at least not the automatic suggestions which pop up during typing an e mail in the TO / CC fields when composing an E mail.
I am able to disable this in the Contract app, but not in the E mail app in IOS.
It seems that when I enable to sync the contacts I get both the Personall contacts plus the Global Address list, there is no way to set any setting in regard to the contacts here.
I cannot find any setting which disables the phone of looking up the address I am typing in the Global Address list, having a verry big corporate global address list (we use this in our desktop / outlook environment) this can be verry annoying.
Anyone who can tell me if I can disable this (or not) and if so point me in the right direction ?
    Thank you

What device do you have? And what is missing? You Compose a message, choose a name, then they have email addresses missing? or the contact is missing?

  • Accessing global address list

    Hi,
We have Outlook 2003 installed with the Collaboration Suite and Outlook Connector. In Outlook VBA I am trying to access the Oracle global address list with MAPI. This takes about 20 minutes to return the selected recipients from the address list (we have 11000 entries). Is there another way to access the global address list? Where are the users stored? Are they stored in a table of the oracle database I could query with sql?
I'm sorry if my questions are naive, I am quite new in this business :).
Thanks for any answers in advance.
