Outlook hotsync with Desktop

I am having a problem getting my Palm TX to hotsync with my P.C.  The process goes well until it gets to the calendar. At that pint it stops.

Hi..  Welcome to the Palm forums..  If hotsync is stuck at calendar or date book then most likely there is some corruption with the calendar data.  Go into the conduits and set the calendar conduit to do nothing and sync.  If all syncs fine it confirms that that it your problem.  Then go to http://www.pimlicosoftware.com/dbfixit.htm and download dbfixit.  This is a utility that will verify data problems, with the free version you will have to fix the problems it finds manually.  If you spend the $12.95 for the registration it will also fix the problems.  Download it and install it, with the calendar conduit still set to do nothing, to your TX then run it and fix the problems.  Then turn on the calendar conduit and sync.  Hopefully that will fix your problem.

  • In windows 7 I can hotsync with Desktop 6.2 but I cannot change mail hotsync to Outlook instead of Palm Desktop

    Can anyone help me?
    I have a new computer with windows 7 (64bit).
My Palm device is a Tungsten T5
I tried first to install Palm Desktop from the CD (to be able to switch to outlook sync). But this version will not install.
Then I installed Palm Desktop 6.2 and I am able to Hotsync (via bluetooth) between Palm desktop and my Tungsten.
For Mail, Calendar etc I want to Hotsync with Outlook. But I cannot get that working. Tried to install outlookconduiter, but doesnot work.
Probably I need some code which normally will be installed from the CD. But that installation will not work.
Does anyone know how to solve this?
    Thank you in advance

    Post relates to: Tungsten T5

    Hello Alan,
Thank you for replying my message.
But I think I did not explain my problem good enough.
I will try to be more explicit:
I know that I don't need to install an outlook conduit. And I already am able to hotsync with contacts, tasks, etc. Only e-mail will not hotsync. The log says ok at versamail entry, but I did not find new mailmessages on my Palm handheld.
In my Tungsten I have setup an e-mail (veersamail) account.
On my old PC under XP I did setup (long ago) a versmail account seperatedly. When I tried to do the same under Windows 7 an error says: you must first install a Versamail conduit before you can setup a versamail account (on my PC)
But my versamail conduit is on the CD I got when I purchased my Tungsten T5. But installing from this CD is not possible under windows 7 (it hangs). When I identified I therefore installed Palm desktop 6.2, which does not include the Versamail conduit.
I did inspect the original CD but I cannot find anything of versamail. It is included in carrierfiles, I think. But I don't know how to extract and how to find the files I need for the versamail conduit.
    What can I do?
Only buy a new Versamail conduit??
Or do you know other ways to get the versamail hotsync working?

  • Z22 will hotsync with Desktop but not Outlook ???why???

    No device
Added Microsoft Outlook to my PC, so would be ready for potential iphone purchase - my first smartphone.  Was so excited that I would be able to port over my calendar and address book information from my Palm Z22 to the new smartphone.
uninstalled (using revouninstaller) Palm Desktop, since I read that I needed to have Outlook installed first and needed clean install in order to be able to change the method of hotsync from the palm desktop to outlook
Reinstalled 6.2 Palm Desktop and when I got to the screen with the choice between Palm Desktop and Outlook, I clicked the option I wanted to sync using Outlook.
First hotsync went to Palm Desktop, and left Outlook Calendar et al empty.  ???why???
    Second hotsync same problem.  ???why???
Can't find anywhere in my hotsync manager or in the desktop or on the Z22 where I can make any changes to the hotsync....
So now I have handy dandy new version of Palm Desktop,  which (still) syncs perfectly with my z22, but doesn't help me get ready for the Iphone, since I will need my calendar/address book/notes data in Microsoft Outlook in order to transfer to iphone (or any other smartphone for that matter)..
Just to reiterate, never had/have problems with hotsync process, just trying to change where the data goes......
Using Windows XP    and  HotSync Manager 7.0.2  and Palm Desktop 6.2   with Palm Z22
Want to sync to Microsoft Outlook 2007 (has  SP2 already installed)
    HELP!!!!!!!
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

I did some more googling, and FINALLY found some instructions that actually worked!!!!  These are from eHow entry entitled "How to Move a Calendar From a Palm Desktop to Outlook".  I did NOT find this directly from Google, but rather as something in an aside in another post that led me sort of by accident to this post...
Anyway, should anyone else need to perform this manuever, here are the instructions:
Go tot he Start menu and select Programs.
Move the cursor to the Palm folder on the Programs menu
Click on the 'enable palm outlook conduits' choice.
Bingo!!!  It fixes the outlook conduits, and then you are set.
REMEMBER, IF YOU ARE NEW TO OUTLOOK, AND YOU WANT TO TRANSFER THE INFORMATION FROM YOUR PALM, YOU NEED TO GO INTO THE HOTSYNC MANAGER UNDER APPLICATIONS AND FIX EVERYTHING TO GO FROM HANDHELD TO DESKTOP RATHER THAN SYNCHRONIZE.  synchronize is the default.  that would give you everything blank, i.e. lose your data....  not a good idea.
Beware that the first sync from handheld to an empty outlook can take a LOOOOONg time, if your calendar goes back for years on your Palm like mine does....
I now have everything in Outlook.
    Case solved!

  • Centro hotsync with Outlook creates multiple folders in Notes

    Greetings,
This is my first post and I need help!
I just got a Sprint Centro two weeks ago and hotsync with Outlook.  Every time I hotsync, the process creates multiple empty 'Notes' folders named after the sync profile.  (You may know that in Outlook they are called Notes and in the Palm OS they are called Memos.)  The notes I have are actually synced fine.  However, extra four or five empty folders are created as well.  Therefore, potentially I could have hundreds of them after a dozen or so syncs.
    - I am using Palm Desktop 6.2
    - I used a Tungsten E2 before and all was OK
    - I have XP Pro
    - The Palm phone support suggested a hard reset and a new sync profile.  Same problem.
    - Support also suggested a new Outlook profile.  Don't want to do that as I can't afford to lose any data and settings!  Besides, their suggestion did not work and left me with a lot of work restoring data to phone.
There has to be a solution other than giving the Centro up for a BB.  I would appreciate any help.  I must say the Palm phone support has been atrocious!
    Thank you.

I don't know what causes this issue but I know how to solve it - ot at least work around it.
First of all you need to backup the existing data that you have within Outlook Contacts etc. You can do this easily by creating a subfolder under Contacts (e.g. called Backup) and just MOVING everything from the parent folder into the backup folder.
Then do another sync with the mobile and see what items pop up in Contacts. From here make sure you EDIT that contact with the additional data and save it. Once you do this, you won't get duplicates.
For some reason the Synchronise app will "key" to a particular user "record" (to use database parlance) leaving the original Outlook contact alone (if it's any consolation it happens on Blackberries too) - and this is the only way I know of which fixes it without buying 3rd party applications.
    Hope this helps.

  • Hotsync with Windows XP without using Outlook?

Can I Hotsync with Windows XP and use a program other than Outlook. I am using my old M100, thanks.
    Post relates to: Palm m100

    Hi,
I am brand new to this...bought an m100 at a garage sale...trying to use it on my windows xp...so I bought a trendnet usb to serial converter and set it up...i try to hotsync and it says "the connection between your handheld computer and the desktop could not be established.  Please check your setup and try again".  At one point, COM4 was the port that was being used on local, but now it's saying that COM1 isn't available.  I don't know what i'm doing.  I just want to put some text into this device that i currently have stored in WORD on my PC.  Can someone help me in very simple terms?  I don't understand any of this lingo.

  • Palm m100 HotSync with Outlook 2007

I have a Palm m100 which I routinely HotSynced with an old Windows ME computer.  That computer died, and I now have a Windows 7 machine with Outlook 2007.  What software should I load on my new PC in order to retrieve my Contacts from the Palm m100 and copy the Contacts into Outlook 2007?
    Post relates to: Palm m100

Unfortunately what you are asking for is something that we do not support. As a suggestion on how this might be accomplished you would need to install Palm Desktop 6.2. Normally that may be enough. Also we have not done testing on windows 7 to know if Palm Desktop will work on it reliably.
It also might be time for you to upgrade your device to push the chances up of this working correctly. Palm Desktop 6.2 was not designed to work with the m100 while the TX and Tungsten E2 where. Some older device may work due to other customers on this site stating they have it working for them.

  • HOTSYNC WITH PALM DESKTOP LOCATED ON AN EXTERNAL DRIVE

I've been hotsynching between my desktop, laptop and Z22.  Recently I replaced the desktop harddrive with a much larger one.  I put the old harddrive in a USB external drive housing and now have a nifty 40 GB external drive.  Does anyone know how I can hotsync the Z22 one last time with the Palm Desktop info on the external drive?  Then I'll install Palm Desktop on the new harddrive in my desktop, and hotsync from the Z22 to the new harddrive.
    Post relates to: Palm Z22

Is all your current data on the Z22? If it is, install Palm desktop on the new hard drive and sync the Z22 with desktop overwrites handheld selected in hotsync manager.
Another option is to install the version of Palm Desktop that you were using on the old hard drive, copy the username folder on the old hard drive in the Palm folder, Paste the username folder into the Palm folder on the new hard drive. Open Palm desktop and the data should be there.

    Hi Gary,
I have seen this issue occur with users who have this registry setting missing or have improper permissions.
When you double click the attachment to launch the pdf it is saved and opened from the temporary folder unless saved specifically to a location.
If you dont have the below mentioned registry key or improper permissions then attachments fail to open.
Please  heck if the following reg key exists:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Security
    or
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Security
    Value Name: OutlookSecureTempFolder
If the value exists, and if the value contains a valid path, Outlook 2010 uses that location for its temporary files.
If the registry value does not exist, or if the value points to an invalid location, Outlook 2010, Outlook 2007, or Outlook 2003 creates a new subdirectory under the Temporary Internet Files directory and then puts the temporary file in the new subdirectory. The name of the new subdirectory is unknown and is randomly generated, depending on your version of Outlook.
    Please check the following key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Security
Note the location for: OutlookSecureTempFolder key
Check if the same folder exists in the following location and if not create a corresponding folder in the location on C:\Users\<User account name>\Appdata\Local\Software\Microsoft\Windows\......

  • Override Outlook calendar with Treo calendar info

For Treo 650, how do I override my Windows XP Outlook calendar with info on my Treo calendar when Hot-Sync-ing?
Post relates to: Treo 650 (Alltel)

first you need to check in the hotsync manager if the 4 main PIM's: calendar, contacts, tasks and memos are set to sync to outlook (it has the word outlook beside it). if it does, then all you need to do is to change the hotsync action of the calendar to handheld overwrites the desktop. since what you wanted is to let the info (calendar) of your phone to overwrite the calendar in your outlook.

  • Cannot even START HotSync with Vista

Hello, I hope somebody can help me here...
I've bought a Palm Pre Plus a few days ago and since tried to synchronise it with my laptop.
I installed the newest Palm Desktop software and connected the phone via USB.
After installing everything I get a window asking me to connect the phone and press a "HotSync button" of some sort... but there is no press-able button on either the phone or the cable that works.
When I connect the phone it asks whether I want to just charge the phone or use the USB connection. If I choose the latter I can drag-n-drop stuff onto the phone (wallpapers & ringtones) but that's it.
Does anybody know what I should do? I have no idea what I did wrong or forgot to do...
    Thank you very much!!
Post relates to: Pre Plus p100ueu (02)

With the Palm Pre, it does not "hotsync" like the previous Palm devices did. There is no native desktop sync. option.
With the PRE, you sync your data to an on-line service like the Palm profile, Google, Yahoo, Facebook, etc. With the Palm Profile, you only have access to the data on the device. There is no option to view the profile data on a PC.
There is a tool that Palm offers that will transfer your current data that is in Outlook or Palm desktop to the PRE and an on-line service. The tool is the Data Transfer Assistant. Go to Palm.com/dta to get the tool.
If you want to sync to Palm desktop or Outlook on your PC, you will need to use a 3rd party solution like Companion Link or the Chapura products Pocket Mirror for Outlook or Echo for Palm Desktop.

  • Syncing iPhone with Outlook and with Oracle Calendar

Set up: Windows XP 2, Oracle Calendar Server, iPhone with 2.0.2 and iTunes 7.7.1.11. Outlook is the desktop client to Oracle Server. Others make appointments for me around my organization.
I have had successful syncs but also failures in this environment, but after the latest releases of firmware and iTunes, it consistently stopped syncing.
I think I have found an unsatisfactory work-around. If I go into the .com add-ins and disable the Oracle connector in Outlook, then I can get the iPhone to sync to Outlook. I then have to turn the connector on to interact with the server. Manageable but not pleasant.
    Is there a better solution?

Originally all of Apple products were intended for use with Mac computers. Macs have default program - iCal to sync calendars. Windows default program is ironically Microsoft Outlook. There couple more options in iTunes for
calendar sync, but those need to be chosen and not default.
In your particular situation since you don't have outlook anymore, you don't need to make any changes. No outlook - no sync. Apple way - no user interference nessesary.
Please do remember that everyting I write is just my opinion, nothing more or less.

  • Error synching Windows 7 Contacts with Desktop Manager

    Hi
I'm new here and would appreciate any help you can give.
I''m having trouble synching the email addresses in my Windows Contacts file with my Blackberry.  Not all email addresses synchronise properly, which is probably because they are sourced from several different databases previously.  There doesn't seem to be a way to map the fields accurately as the Windows 7 contacts folder shows the field as "E-mail Address" and the Desktop Manager shows the field being imported from Windows as "Preferred Address".  This mapping only transfers those addresses which were previously exported from a BB/Lotus Notes database.
I've tried exporting to csv's and changing the field names as well as importing through Outlook 2010 rather than WIndows but with no success.
Has anybody else had this problem and found a solution?
    Any advice or suggestions welcomed.
