Outlook iCal Challenged: notifications at wrong time on .mac

When my virtual assistant sends a notification from her pc using Outlook, they import cleanly into iCal. No prob.
When I sync to .mac those notifications appear at the wrong time. Or not at all.
Any clues around this?

Not sure if it will help you, but I figured out my problem.  The person with whom I was exchanging calendar entries was also "sharing" a calendar with me through iCloud.  She was receiving the calendar entries that I invited her to directly from iCloud -- as opposed to from my email address.  Her computer, a PC, was incorrectly processing these calendar entries.  To fix this, I just ended the "shared" calendar.  Now, when I add her as an invitee to calendar entries, she receives the invite from my email address--as opposed to from iCloud.  The problem is resolved.  Good luck.

My iCloud iCal shows up a wrong time on the left side (in the Week-Mode) - but when I click on a event, the time i right!
The problem is the actual time - that shows up is 9 hours back (11 am - in fact 8 pm)
    Please help me!

The problem here is iCloud. The timezones are not correct. For example for Buenos Aires, Argentina the timezone have one our shift then the correct time. For other zones the timezone is really bad.
Apple, can you please fix this bug?

  • Find My Friends notifications show wrong time.

I set up Find My Friends in IOS 6 to send me an email when I leave my house in the morning using the new geofencing feature.  I'm getting the emails but it's showing that I left my house four hours earlier than I did.  For instance, I left home this morning at 8:54am.  When I got to work and saw the email it showed that "Rob left ------------------- Rd Lincolnton, NC United States at 4:54 AM".  I have the correct time set on both my iPad and iPhone.  Set Automatically is ON and my Time Zone is "New York".  Any idea why this is happening?
    Thanks!

I have never gotten this to even send me 1 email.   Sorry for the useless comment but I'd like to get notified on updates for this one.

  • Outlook 2013 calendar displays wrong time on iPhone calendar

I would like to start by saying this is definitely NOT a time zone issue.  I have researched the internet and apple and have not been able to find a solution as of yet.  This is also not restricted to my phone.  We have our work calendar in Outlook 2013.  When it syncs to my iPhone 5c and my boss' iPhone 4s it displays the time of the event exactly 7 hours earlier.  I have checked the Outlook time zone and the iPhone time zone (in both places, general and the mail/contacts/calendar settings).  They are all displayed in the current time zone.  I have selected and deselected the auto setting for the time zone as well.  Nothing has worked!  I'm wondering if it has something to do with an update.  It was working just fine for years and now all of a sudden displays the wrong time.  PLEASE HELP! Thanks.

    Hi Cath,
Yes, it is a by default settings to delete meeting requests after it is responded. As what Vasil says, we can change the following Outlook settings to leave the meeting request message in Inbox:
    1. Click File > Options.
    2. In Mail option, on Send messages part, uncheck Delete meeting requests and notifications from Inbox after responding option.
    3. Click OK to save the settings.
Then check whether the issue persists.

  • Lion 10.7.2 On both mac book pro and iMac, both with Lion 10.7.2, obtain repeated iCal event notifications from calendar or address book.  Cannot turn these off.  They repeat several times per session and every time computer is used.  How to diagnose this

Lion 10.7.2 On both mac book pro and iMac, both with Lion 10.7.2, obtain repeated iCal event notifications from calendar or address book.  Cannot turn these off.  They repeat several times per session and every time computer is used.  How to diagnose this?

First, uninstall "SuperTV" (whatever that is) according to the developer's instructions. It isn't working and it's filling the log with noise.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
    Launch the Console application.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time when you had the problem. Post the messages logged before the boot, while the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down. Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract.
Post the log text, please, not a screenshot. If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message. When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
PLEASE DO NOT INDISCRIMINATELY DUMP THOUSANDS OF LINES FROM THE LOG INTO A MESSAGE. If you do that, I will not respond.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.
    Step 2
Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • ICal archive saves file with wrong time in filename in Lion

iCal archive filenames in Lion now have the time in the filename, after the date.  But the time is 8 hours ahead of the actual time it was saved.  I guess they're using Greenwich Mean Time, but the time that's in the filename should match the time that the file was actually saved (local time).
Is anyone else seeing the same issue?

A hand full of my events were showing as off by 1 hour, even though my Treo 755p, Mac Pro and iCal all show the same time zone. If I had an appointment at 12:00pm it would show up on my Treo 775p as '1:00pm (12:00pm PST)'.
I went through and edited the time zone to something else then back again. I duplicated a few events and then deleted the original. But I've gotten all of them to now show up at the correct time.
Give it a shot it may help if it isn't 100s of appointments.

  • When I add a meeting invitation to ical it enters on wrong date...help!  It shows up as a random date and year, When I add a meeting invitation to ical it enters on wrong date.

I am running Mountian Lion on a new (8 months) MBPro 13".  I recently started having iCal enter meeting invitations that I receive on the wrong dates!  Not just a day or hour off...but a year or more!  Of course at first I didn't even notice I would just click to accept and add the invite to the calendar and when I would return it was gone.  If I do a "quick look" at the invitation from within the Mail it shows the correct time and date...but it I open it, it's totally ramdom what date it picks.

I am having a similar problem:  invitations sent (presumably from outlook), when accepted from my iPad, appear in the calendar with the wrong time zone.
this actually happens even when the meeting is in the same time zone I'm in:  I am in GMT -5, and even when the meeting is in GMT-5, it defaults to GMT (or, in some instances, PST).  My settings have my time zone set correctly.
    Any help much appreciated.

  • In iCal and Notifications on a notebook, is it possible to expand the notes window to make it easier to read and write notes?

In iCal and Notifications on a notebook, is it possible to expand the notes window to make it easier to read and write notes? In the past, I have used Outlook calendar and tasks and I was able to expand the windows which allowed me to put a great amount of details into either the notes section in events and tasks. It would be great to be able to do this in iCal and Notifications as well. I am using a Macbook Pro with OS X 10.8. Thank you very much for assistance with this.

  • Ical events not displaying correct time zone

    Hi All,
I have a weird issue and I'm not sure if it's an iCal or an entourage problem. When one of our Entourage2008 (exchange) users sends a meeting invite to a user in a different time zone using ical, the meeting shows in ical as the time the entourage user who created it, aka not adjusting for the time zone. Entourage to outlook calendar or another entourage calendar works fine, and iCal to iCal works fine; just not Entourage to iCal. Also, a calendar event from the iCal user to the Entourage user does adjust correctly for the time zone difference, which is why i'm exactly sure where the problem lies. I did post in the mactopia forums too so please don't yell at me for posting an 'entourage' problem in a mac forum. any help anyone could provide would be appreciated.
    Thank you.
i'm on 10.5.7 with the latest updates for mac os x and the latest office for mac updates, and we are running off a hosted exchange server. we've experienced the same issue whether we have iCalis ("turn on time support") option enabled in iCal or not enabled.

It's annoying as it should not be this complicated. I've implemented a work around, but it's not ideal. I have entourage running but not open, and have sync services set to sync with ical. A new invite comes into mac mail, the user clicks on the ics file (which opens entourage calendar), accepts the meeting, and closes the entourage window. The correct time is in entourage calendar, and then syncs with ical and the meeting has the correct time for that time zone.
If anyone has found a real fix for this problem, please let me know.
Thanks for letting me know I'm not the only one Jim.

  • JDKs in weblogic server return wrong time zone

Hi , i am running weblogic server 8.1.4, 8.1.6 and 10 on my windows vista
all of the JDK bundled (both Sun's and JRockit) return GMT instead of my local time zone when i call Timezone.getDefault()
I am quite sure the operating system has set to correct time zone because my self installed JDK (downloaded from sun) works properly (return correct local time zone)
is that i have missed anything?
    please help.

I am noticing the same problem with iCal events imported from Orbitz. The thing is that the more I look into it the more I think this is meant as a feature, not a bug. Go into iCal preferences > Advanced and uncheck "Turn on time zone support". Import the event again and this time both the graphic view and the Get Info view will display the same information.
It appears that this setting is meant to be useful if you travel to different time zones a lot. Basically, with it you get a time zone dropdown menu in iCal. So when you are in a different time zone you can select it from the dropdown and it will show what time your events occur in your new local time. Just keep in mind that when you create a new event it will be created based on the time zone you have selected. So if you are in California and have selected that time zone but you are adding an entry for a meeting you have when you are back in New York make sure that you select the correct time zone when creating that meeting because by default it will be created in California time and when you return to New York and switch your calendar back it will show the event at the wrong time.

  • Some events appear at wrong time when publishing to web

When I publish my calendar and then view it on the web, events I have created myself in iCal are shown at the correct time, but any events I have recieved from Evolution (the email/calendar application my colleagues use) as an .ics file are shown exactly 8 hours later than they should be. Perhaps it's a coincidence that this is the exact time difference between the UK (where I live and work) and West Coast USA?
Just to make it clear: all events appear correctly in iCal and, if I send a subscribe email to myself and then subscribe to the published calendar, they also appear correctly in iCal. The only place where they appear at the wrong times is in the http://ical.mac.com/<username>/<calendarname> address, and it's only events that I have recieved via email.
Is there a workaround for this that doesn't involve asking my colleagues to change settings on their Ubuntu workstations? Perhaps it's a problem with Apple's ical website that they need to fix? Either way, it makes the business of publishing my calendars largely useless.

    Bernard Harte wrote:
It's likely that the problem is due to an incompatibility between the way that the two systems define time zones.
This is what I thought, but iCal itself seems to cope with this, whereas the .Mac iCal web server doesn't, which is a shame.
I suspect that you don't have time zone support switched on in the Advanced tab of Preferences. If you don't, try switching it on and then looking at one of your events and one of the rogue ones in the edit window. You'll probably see a difference in time zones - i.e. that the rogue ones are in US Pacific zone.
I switched on time zone support, but it didn't change any of the events in iCal at all; i.e., the "rogue" events still show at the correct time (and the incorrect time on the iCal web server).
If this guess is correct, you will need to get your colleagues to change their time zone since iCal and ical.mac.com are behaving as they should.
They are all on the same timezone as me - Europe/London (which is currently on DST).
If the guess isn't correct, report back and we'll work on a solution
Then I look forward to hearing from you!

  • Syncing Calendar from Outlook to iPhone results in different times

Hi, I just got an iphone, but when i try to sync my calendar from Outlook, the events always show up as 6 hours later. For example:
    In Outlook:
    Band Rehearsal, 12:30 - 15:30
    On the iPhone:
    Band Rehearsal, 18:30 - 21:30
I've checked the time zones and they all match (Windows, Outlook and iPhone are all set to Amsterdam). Any suggestions? Thanks!

I had the same problem and found the answer on another post. See below

With help from google and some other people that have had the same problem I found the answer to this.
There is 2 regional settings on a iPhone.... (almost)
    If you:
    1. Go to Settings
    2. Go to Mail, Contacts, Calendars
    3. Scroll down to Claendar- Time Zone Support
Then there is a time zone aswell... and when I changed this one everything went fine....
You could also just diable this time zone support aswell....

  • Outlook 2010: "Decline and Propose New Time" doesn't work.

    Environment: Outlook 2010 v14.0.7106.5003 (cached mode) / Exchange 2010 SP3+RU4 (v14.03.0174.001)
We are following this guideline to propose a new meeting time:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook-help/propose-accept-or-decline-a-new-meeting-time-HP010356518.aspx
User1 sends a meeting invitation (monday 10:00-10:30) to user2. The appointment appears at user2 calendar with status "tentative". So long, so good.
User2 clicks on "Decline and Propose New Time" and selects a new time (monday 11:00-11:30).
Result: The appointment is removed from user2 calendar instead of being moved to the proposed time. User1 receives a notification (Subject: "New time proposed: ... ") with the information "appointment declined" but there is no option
to accept the new time and also no hint about the new time.
If found a lot of posts with the same issue but no solutions...
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
Do the users have 3rd-party add-ins installed?
Let's try running Outlook in Safe Mode:
Press Win + R and type “outlook.exe /safe” in the blank box, then press Enter.
Test if this issue persists when testing in Outlook Safe Mode, if there’s no problem in Safe Mode, disable the suspicious add-ins to verify which add-ins caused this issue.
