Outlook -- Ical

I recently bought my first mac for home use - a MacBook Air. I use MS Office 2007 at work on my PC, and would like my outlook calendar to transfer to my Mac.
I have searched and searched online and in help files to figure out how to do this. It seems that both programs support calendar publishing and subscribing, but I can't make it work.
Here is what I did:
In MS Outlook, I selected my calendar and selected "Publish to the Internet." It publishes it to Office Online using a Windows Live ID (email and password). It will keep the online version synced with my outlook. It sent an email to my .mac email on my MacBook Air.
Going to my Mac, I received the email. There are two links: a webcal:// link which opens up ICal, and an https:// link which opens up the web browser. When I use the web link, it asks if I want to trust the microsoft certificates, and I said Yes. It asks for my Windows Live ID and I entered it. I can then access the calendar.
However, when I use the webcal link, and then tell iCal to subscribe to that calendar, it says it cannot find it.
If, however, I go back to the PC and republish the calendar without an ID (making it available to anyone), then iCal on the Mac finds it, and imports it just fine.
The problem is I don't want it publically available - It has sensitive business information. How can I get iCal on the Mac to access it??
Thanks in advance for your help!

Same problem here in Spain: trying to subscribe iCal doesn't display any dialog where I could login. Error message is:
Error inesperado en la resolución de nombres seguros (código -9813). Puede que el nombre del servidor calendars.office.microsoft.com no sea correcto.
or the english version:
Unexpected secure name resolution error (code -9813). The server name calendars.office.microsoft.com may be incorrect.
Any suggestions would be most welcome

  • Trying to sync Outlook/iCal with iPhone. Got new Outlook 2011 service package

I downloaded the Office 2011 service pack, which I thought would solve the calendar sync problem with Outlook & iCal. But when I hook up my iPhone to my MacBook Pro, the sync starts and then gets hung up on Step 2 syncing calendar. I've let it go for more than an hour and it does not progress. On iTunes, I have checked the box not to sync anything older than 30 days.

I got it to work. You need to open iSync and reset the sync history. Then it works great.  Got to this by talking to Apple iphone support.

  • Outlook iCal Challenged: notifications at wrong time on .mac

When my virtual assistant sends a notification from her pc using Outlook, they import cleanly into iCal. No prob.
When I sync to .mac those notifications appear at the wrong time. Or not at all.
    Any clues around this?

Not sure if it will help you, but I figured out my problem.  The person with whom I was exchanging calendar entries was also "sharing" a calendar with me through iCloud.  She was receiving the calendar entries that I invited her to directly from iCloud -- as opposed to from my email address.  Her computer, a PC, was incorrectly processing these calendar entries.  To fix this, I just ended the "shared" calendar.  Now, when I add her as an invitee to calendar entries, she receives the invite from my email address--as opposed to from iCloud.  The problem is resolved.  Good luck.

  • How to sync ical to outlook ical using Maverick

Can outlook cal be synced to ical

iCal is client like Outlook is client. Both can be used to get email from servers (POP3, IMAP, Exchange).
You may be able to export email form Outlook and import into iCal; or sync both Outlook and iCal with the same server (Exchange, Google, etc) - but you can't sync Outlook directly with iCal.

  • * Syncing Outlook, iCal & remiders on Lion *

    Hello all!
I know this topic may have been covered in other posts (trust me I've looked... for hours), but I'm not sure it has been covered in this situation.
    Here's the issue:
I have downloaded the full Microsoft Office 2011 on my new (2011/12) Macbok Pro.
I really like using Outlook for my email, calendar & tasks, but would love to have it sync with my iphone 4s (ios 5.0.1).
Most threads here tell us to sync ical with outlook via using the Tools > Sync option. I have tried this and I cant seem to get either the calendar or the remiders to sync in outlook.
Is there something I'm doing wrong here?
Can anyone help me with a set of instructions?
    All help is much apreciated.
    Best,
    Brian
PS... Would jailbreaking the phone help this issue?

i figured it out.... before syncing your phone to your macbook or whatever:
    -go into settings
    -select icloud
    -go to calendars
-change the selector from ON to OFF
    -sync phone to computer
-ical syncing with phone will now work like it did before iOS5 and iCloud, but in a good way

  • Sync-outlook & ical 3 pc's

Has anyone sync with multiple computers and windows and mac OS's???

Only on the first sync of the first device will everything overwrite the account in the cloud. Everything else will merge and all three will continue to be merged. What does this mean, if you delete on one, it will delete/resolve on another when it syncs if you have bookmarks selected to sync.
Senario answer: The second pc will merge with the 1st and the first will be a mix of both. It may be possible to attach the second computer with a blank profile while the first is already organized if that is what you are going for? • Need help syncing iCal and Outlook 2011 (for Mac) THANKS!

QUESTION: How do I sync iCal and Outlook up again without duplicating any more events, and very importantly, without sending any more email invitations?
I just bought an iPhone. I am trying to get my phone and my MacBook Pro synced up through iCloud.
I realize that I need to have Outlook 2011 and iCal set up for syncing for this to work.
I did this at one point, and it resulted in all of my ALL DAY appointments being duplicated in Outlook, iCal, and on the calendar on my phone - and iCloud sending out duplicate invitations to events.
Then, I turned syncing between iCal and Outlook and deleted all of the duplicates in my Outlook.
Of course, because I haven't set up Outlook to sync with iCal, iCal and my phone's calendar have not changed. There are still duplicates there.
How do I sync them up again without duplicating any more events, and very importantly, without sending any more email invitations?
Thanks in advance for any help you can be!
    Cheers!

My iPhone 4 was working fine, synched with Outlook 2011 on my iMac 11.02 through iTunes. Calendar changes also appeared in iCal, even though I don't use iCal - I only use Outlook. Last week I was prompted to update Outlook, which I did successfully. Today, I plugged the iPhone into the iMac to synch and suddenly all Calendar and Contact items are gone from the iPhone and in iCal on the iMac. In iTunes, the option to synch with Outlook in the Info tab ("other") is greyed out. What happened? Why can't I synch the iPhone anymore with Outlook? All the Calendar and Contact info is still on the iMac in Outlook. Help!

  • All-day events in iCal become 2-day events on iPhone

Since I updated to 1.1.2, all my all-day events in iCal become 2-day events on the iPhone. Has anyone else had this problem? I can reset the end time on the iPhone, but I have lots of recurring monthly events and it would take forever to do this manually.

I have the very same issue. I solved it once somehow but now it's back. I use Plaxo to sync between Outlook-iCal-iPhone and maybe that somehow has confused the phone. Let me know if you find any solutions. I will do the same.

  • Yosemite - strange behavior for all-day events in iCal

I have been using previous versions of MacOS with my corporate exchange server for quite a while with no issues.  After  the upgrade to Yosemite i have found an odd behavior with inserting all-day events into the exchange calendar.  Same results on MacBook Pro and MacBook Air, both worked fine with Mavericks and now have this issue with Yosemite
My previous workflow was to double click in the upper bar in calendar, open an event in the all-day area, type  in what I wanted to say, select the exchange calendar from the pull down (I have multiple calendars) and the event was done.
Now when I do this when I switch the event to the exchange calendar I get  this error message:
If I select OK the event is then transformed to a 12:00-1:00 meeting and a note is added to the  notes that the time zone isn't right
Note: the meeting does go into the calendar in Pacific time (my default) and I can edit the event back to an all-day and remove the junk from notes and it stores away like it should.  But this is quite annoying
    Any suggestions

  • How do I edit forwarded iCalendar (from Outlook 2010)?

I love the iPhone but sometimes, little bitty issues can be infuriating. Grrr...
Because there is NO WAY I am able to sync my iPhone's calendar to my work account, I found that I can forward important meetings to my phone via Outlook's "Forward as iCalendar". This essentially works well EXCEPT when the meeting was requested from a different time zone (about 1/2 of my meetings).
Outlook automatically adjusts to the correct time zone but my iPhone does not!
To make the matter worse, my iPhone will not allow me to edit the iCalendar. Or at least I do not see a way to edit it.
Can anyone offer insight into this issue?
If I can't fix this, I am going to be late for my meetings which will result in me getting fired, which will result in me not being able to pay my mortgage, which will result in my wife leaving me, which will send me into despare and eventually led me into a life of crime, which may eventually led me to your home... and I will rob you! You don't want that so help me find a solution, please.
Okay, that was creative license - it's a Monday and it's been a long day.
I wasn't actually being serious but your kind assistance is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

Okay, I found a solution. Since I am ultimately sync'ing with Google email and calendar, I found that I can log into my gmail account and edit the time in there. Once my iPhone re-syncs, the time is corrected.
Allow me to modify my question a bit:
    1. Is there a way to edit the calendar (as stated above) on the iPhone? The Calendar app built in seems rather rudimentary (or I just don't know about a hidden feature).
    2. The real problem is that the iPhone doesn't understand that the iCal meeting time is from a different timezone. Why not? Is this a problem with not enough information in the forwarded (from Outlook) iCal attachment or is this a fault with the iPhone's Calendar app? Who do I blame?
    Thank you.

  • Mac to Treo 650 to Outlook

    Hi,
I will be buying my first Mac in a few weeks and have a question about syncing...
Will I be able to Sync my Treo to the Mac AND to my work laptop running Outlook?
    Thanks...

I don't use any Microsoft products, so I can't help you much with specific issues involving Entourage, Outlook or any of the other components. There is a specialized support site which might be of some help, here:
    http://www.entourage.mvps.org
Without an Exchange Server, your options are pretty seriously limited at the moment. The release of iCal under Mac OS X 10.5, iCal Server under Mac OS X Server 10.5 and the open-source iCal server package might offer some options to explore, as would linking with Plaxo for contacts and Google calendars for calendaring data.
I use Plaxo's Address Book plug-in, which works quite well, and have toyed with SpanningSync for synchronizing Google calendars. I believe that you'll need something like them to serve as the bridge between Outlook, iCal and the Address Book. Basic Plaxo connection is free, and you can learn more about it here:
    http://www.plaxo.com/downloads
Here is a link to SpanningSync:

  • Opening and ordering all-day events in iCal

I only use all-day events. When I hit Command-N, it is completely random (so far as I can tell) whether an all-day or a scheduled event field appears. Is there some way to make the default for Command-N be an all-day event field? Also, how can one order the all-day events? They seem to place themselves randomly in the list and change order from day to day.

I have the very same issue. I solved it once somehow but now it's back. I use Plaxo to sync between Outlook-iCal-iPhone and maybe that somehow has confused the phone. Let me know if you find any solutions. I will do the same.

  • Questions on iCal attachment for Event e-mails

I cannot find answers to the following questions:
Update e-mail template: There is no option to include Outlook iCal attachment. How does an attendee's calendar get updated?
Outlook iCal attachment: We cannot edit the iCal and have no control over what the content includes?
Outlook iCal attachment: There is no audio information (in this case, outside teleconference dial-in numbers) information provided. The audio profile has been created.
Outlook iCal attachment: The iCal refers to the Event Manager (their full name) as the host and signature.

    Thank you for you help.
Not that this will help you very much I guess, but I just successfully created an email in Verizon webmail and attached a file using Safari 4.0.5 under Windows 7 and sent and received it just fine. I have Apple Java Plug-in and Java Deployment Toolkit plug-ins installed and active, do you (Hasve no idea whether these apply to a Mac environment)? L:ike you I also have Java and Javascript enabled in Preferences. Maybe something with Java (or Javascript) has something to do with it not working for you.

  • Ical no calendar

i'm new to macs, purchased a secondhand macbook pro wich is upgraded from tiger to snow leopard.
ical wont run on 10.6 but wont update. i dont unfortunately have any disc other than original tiger discs. i downloaded ical 4.0 this opens but no calendars are visible and i cannot load any calendars.Tried removing the pref files and cashes but when i restart ical it hangs with the upgrading calendars box.

Yes. On a Mac there is 3rd party shareware that will let you sych with Entourage, if you use that scheduling program instead. Search iPod Entourage at Versiontracker.com. On a PC you can sych with Outlook.
iCal is part of the Tiger and Panther versions of OS X. So if you are using either of these versions it should be in your apps folder.

  • Duplicate entries in ical on iPhone

Since upgrading to iOS 5 and OS 10.7.2  I have duplicate iCal entries on my iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. I also had other iCal syncing problems but by deleting and replacing I think I've solved those.
On iCal entries that I've just now made on my iMac, they are synced correctly on my iPad and ipod Touch. However each of them are duplicated on my iPhone. I think the problem is that on my iPhone iCal app I have multiple calendars under "from my Mac" and also many of them repeated under "iCloud".
On my iPad and ipod Touch I only have the iCloud calendars.
My question is if I delete the "from my Mac" calendars from the iPhone will this eliminate the duplicates?
Will I do any harm by deleting those calendars? If I delete them can I get them back if needed?
    Thanks for any help.

I'm having the same problems, I upgraded from Entourage 2008 to Outlook 2011 on my iMac running 10.6.8, and my Outlook/iCal/iPhone/iPad calendars are all different and I have duplicates everywhere, please HELP!!!
