Outlook isn't configured to have a default profile

This is the latest error message in trying to get Outlook and iCloud to Sync. I actually had it working on Win 8 with Outlook 2010. The sync file was corrupted and I foolishly said Delete connection to Exchange - thinking I did not have an Exchange server. Since then the connection to iCloud did not work.
After upgrading to Outlook 2013 - 64-bit and uninstalling and reinstalling both it and iCloud and changing profile in Outlook 2013.
I still get an error message:
"outlook isn't configured to have a default profile"
This comes when I check Mail, etc. in the iCloud app on my Win 8 64-bit PC. The Outlook is also 64-bit.

I solved this myself.  I installed iCloud - so that I could uninstall it properly. Then I uninstalled it. Then I installed it again in a new directory. Then it worked. Phew!

I've looked at the Microsoft support info and it doesn't reveal anything new. I looked up the eM Client software and have decided to give it a try. I've been using Thunderbird and Gmail for years, but the issue of keeping contacts in snyc accross platforms led me to try Outlook as supposedly compatable with iCloud. Thanks for eM Client tip. It seems to work well and I'll be testing it for the next few weeks. While I'd still like to be able to solve the issue with Outlook (I'm not used to being defeated by software), I've got plenty of other things to keep me busy and a working solution is the priority here.
    Thanks for the tip!

  • Setup can't continue because Outlook isn't configured to have a default profile. Check your Outlook settings and try again.

I have Windows 7 Home Prem, 64 Bit, MS Office 2010 Professional Plus 64 Bit, iTunes 10.5, IOS 5.0.1 on 2 iPhone 4s and an iPad2. I can turn on Photo Stream, Bookmarks and Outlook in iCloud Control Panel. I can not turn on Calendars or Contacts. I get the error in the subject of this msg.
I have configured the Outlook PROFILE 6 different ways and it still does not resolve the problem.

What I did was install iCloud again - uninstall it properly so everything goes - reinstall iCloud in a separate directory and finally it worked.  This may be all you need to do - but in case there are other things I did that helped see below.
This was after I had actually installed and reinstalled Outlook.  In between I actually upgraded from 2010 to 2013 Outlook which I installed, uninstalled, reinstalled, repaired - as you have done.
I also absolutely cleared the Outlook calendar to remove not only repeating entries but all entries - put it in List View to do this.  Some have said that recurring entries in Outlook cause problems.
I actually exported my Outlook email and imported back in under a different profile and deleted the Outlook profile - renamed my new profile Outlook - but that I don't think made much difference.
I believe that the clean install of iCloud worked.  Also I had deleted the Sync file long ago - you can find it in Outlook if you look for your data files  - there's one with an obscure name - I deleted that and moved it.
I got rid of the Outlook Config file - it's in Roaming, not Local - username/AppDat/Microsoft/Outlook/YOURPROFILE.XML - you can actually set profiles from the Control Panel if you go to Mail....

  • ICloud will not Sign Out of Windows 8.1 and Outlook isn't Installed

I haven't had a single problem with iCloud on any of my devices until today. I want to change my e-mail address and I have been able to prepare everything except my laptop. I am entirely unable to log out of my iCloud account and I am also unable to uninstall it because it has to be logged out first. I keep getting an error message stating "Outlook configuration problem. Setup can't continue because Outlook isn't configured to have a default profile. Check your Outlook settings and try again." I have looked through many different forums and they all seem to suggest there is a syncing issue with Outlook, but I don't use Outlook and it isn't installed on my laptop or desktop computers.
I would appreciate any help. Thank you.

    Hi,
Please follow the steps below to make sure the reminders have been enabled in Outlook:
On the File tab, click Options.
Select Advanced in the Outlook Options dialog box.
In the Reminders section, select Show reminders.
    Click OK.
I also found a similar thread here:

As mentioned in the thread, you can try these steps:
Use MFCMAPI to delete the Reminders Folder, then run "outlook.exe /resetfolders" to recreate this folder:
    Download MFCMAPI:http://mfcmapi.codeplex.com/releases/view/118446

If the problem persists, try to recreate the user’s profile of the Outlook to check this issue:

  • ICloud + Outlook: no default profile error

I'm trying to sync my iCloud contacts to Outlook, but I get the following error:
"Setup can't continue because Outlook isn't configured to have a default profile. Check your Outlook settings and try again"
However, there is a default profile set, the registry has:
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles]
    "DefaultProfile"="Outlook"
Which is where the default profile is stored (also the profile exists, obviously).
So that error is a fat lie. Uninstalling Office 2010 x64, iTunes, iCloud Control Panel 2.0 and removing all profiles and then and reinstalling in the same order and creating a new profile does not fix the problem.
Maybe someone knows where iCloud is looking for the default profile? Because it doesn't seem to look in the place MS stores it.

    I have the same issue.
I had iCloud 1.x working with Outlook 2007 x32.  A few months back I upgraded to Office 2010 x64, which (of course) broke the iCloud integration.  I've waited for the "fix", and have now tried to - very unsuccessfully - install iCloud 2.11.   I've repaired, I've uninstalled/reinstalled, I've set default profiles, I've changed mail accounts...nada.
    Any other suggestions?

  • Firefox default profile

    Hi.
I have two profiles in firefox: "default" and "code". One is used for my usual surfing, and "code" is used when I'm programming.
Sometimes I want to have they both opened.
And there I have some problem, because, for example, when I run "firefox -P code", and then I run "firefox -P default", it's not opening new "default" window, but new "code" window. I don't know why firefox is behaving like this.
That's why I am running it by "firefox -P default -no-remote", but "-no-remote" has it's obvious drawbacks.
Is there a way, to for example tell firefox to behave like this:
    1. Always run default profile.
    2. Unless I will specify it with "-P code", then run new window with code profile.
Is it possible? Or any other solution, due to which I will not have to use "-no-remote" option when opening new window?

Maybe always start the default profile first and use the code profile with the -no-remote switch.
You can then have the default profile selected in the Profile Manager and have a tick in the "Don't ask..." check-box.<br />
That will make Firefox use this profile by default (i.e. starting by clicking a link and Firefox isn't running).

  • Using new computer, existing mailbox user Outlook 2010 Auto-configuration points to the Mailbox Server rather than CAS Array ?

    People,
I'm having a problem with the current AD user account & mailbox user where they cannot get the Outlook 2010 automatically configured to point into the CAS array ?
This is happening when the existing user get new computer replaced or login to the Terminal Server where their account never set before, it always points to the Mailbox Server instead of the Client Access Server array virtual name.
The work around that I provided is typing the Client Access Array address and then specify Outlook.domain.com to match the Windows NLB name (and Get-ClientAccessArray result).

Terminal Server (RDSH 2008 R2): PRODTS01-VM ... PRODTS60-VM (when user logged in to new TS, it got the same error).

    Hi,
Yes, the RPCClientAccessServer should point to the CAS array. What's more, I would like to clarify the following things:
    1. Run the Get-ClientAccessServer | fl AutoDiscoverServiceInternalUri cmdlet to make sure that it displays the correct Uri.
    2. Run the Get-WebServicesVirtualDirectory | fl Identity,*auth*,*URL to ensure that URL for EWS points to the CAS array.
Hope this can be helpful to you.

  • Business Configuration - Task to Set Default Logistics Area

    Hello!
I created a customer-specific solution with a BO Extension. The BO Extension includes a field logisticsArea and that field should have a default value, that is defined by the user.
The difficult part ist, that the user should be able to set a default logistics area. We thought about making a task in the business configuration, where the user has to define the default value for the implementation project.
Is this possible? How would you provide default value setting?
    Kind regards,
    Christine Toblier

Hi, thank you for your answer!
Maybe the label identification is missunderstanding. This is the key value of the code list data type. The second column should be the Default logistic area. I defined the input field of this column as an OVS.
The problem is that i cannot enter a new value for the key and so a cannot create new default values. In the UI the Input field for the Key is defined to be of type "Input Field". But it is displayed as drop down list. Just want to have a Input field, where i can enter 01 or 02.
I dropped the user column, because i thought it is not relevant for this use case. Can you please explain, why I need to have a user specific setting? Is it possible to have just one default logistic area for every user?
    Kind regards,
    Christine Toblier
