• Internal outlook client connectivity in exchange 2010 when coexist with exchange 2013

Hi all ,
on my side i would like to clarify few queries.
Say for instance i am coexisting exchange 2010 with exchange 2013 .Unfortunately if all of my exchange 2013 servers goes down .
Q1 .On that time will the internal outlook users having their mailboxes on exchange 2010 can be able to connect mailboxes without any issues ? In case if they face any issues what kind of issues will they be? Because why i am asking is we should have pointed
the autodiscover service to exchange 2013 during coexistence.
When an user closes and reopens the outlook after whole exchange 2013 environment failure ,outlook will first query the autodiscover service for the profile changes to get it updated on users outlook profile. In such case autodiscover service will not be
reachable and i wanted to know will that affects the internal client connectivity for outlook users having their mailboxes on exchange 2010.
Q2. Apart from outlook internal users connectivity ,what kind of exchange services(i.e owa, active sync, pop, external OA and imap) will get affected when whole exchange 2013 environment goes down during coexistence ?
I have read the below mentioned statement on this awesome blog but still i wanted to clarify with you all on my scenario.
http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2014/03/12/client-connectivity-in-an-exchange-2013-coexistence-environment.aspx<o:p></o:p>
Internal Outlook Connectivity
For internal Outlook clients using RPC/TCP connectivity whose mailboxes exist on Exchange 2010, they will still connect to the Exchange 2010 RPC Client Access array endpoint.
For internal Outlook clients using RPC/TCP connectivity whose mailboxes exist on Exchange 2007, they will still connect directly to the Exchange 2007 Mailbox server instance hosting the mailbox.
Please share me your suggestions and that would help me a lot .

Hi Winnie Liang ,
Thanks a lot for your reply.
Scenario  1 : for internal outlook connectivity
We have below settings for exchange 2010 autodiscover.
mail.domain.com - will be the namespace for internal autodiscover URI for all the exchange 2010 cas serves
We are going to have below settings for exchange 2013 autodiscover.
mail.domain.com - will be the namespace for internal autodiscover URI for all the exchange 2013 cas serves
During coexistence mail.domain.com will be pointed to exchange 2013 cas servers . I mean to say if we try to resolve the mail.domain.com it will get resolved in to the exchange 2013 cas servers.
So on such case if anything happened wrong to the new environment or else if entire environment goes down .Do we face any issues while outlook users connect to existing mailboxes in exchange 2010 ?
Because why i am asking is ,on the below mentioned article i have read all the autodiscover request will go via exchange 2013 cas servers during coexistence. That means all the existing mailboxes in exchange 2010 will also have to query exchange 2013 cas
servers for autodiscover request.During the whole exchange 2013 environemnt failure whenever the user tries to close and open outlook .Outlook will first queries the autodiscover service for any changes happened on that particular mailbox and it will try to
get it updated on user profile.
http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2014/03/12/client-connectivity-in-an-exchange-2013-coexistence-environment.aspx
Would it be possible to make the exchange 2010 mailbox users to query only the scp points which belongs to the exchange 2010 cas servers for autodiscover request ?
Scenario 2: For exchange services
mail.domain.com - will be the namespace for all the exchange 2010 services (i.e owa, activesync, external outlook anywhere, pop, imap)
mail.domain.com - will be the namespace for all the exchange 2013 services (i.e owa, activesync, external outlook anywhere, pop, imap)
What about the above services will it get affected during whole exchange 2013 environment failure ?
Note : We are not facing this issue , i hope everything goes well in my environment while doing coexistence i am just asking this question on my own interest?

• Outlook 2011 Connection Issue with Proxy Server after 10.8 Upgrade

Hello,
After upgrading my MBA to 10.8, my MS Outlook (Outlook Mac 2011) mail connection does not work for an exchange based mail account where a VPN/proxy server combination is involved. This was not an issue at all under 10.7. What's interesting is that it's not an issue with MS Outlook 2010 on my Parallels VM either under 10.8. There are no internet connectivity issues, I am able to connect to the internet using Safari and other browsers. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Manish

I was having a similar problem using Outlook 2011 running under Mountain Lion (10.8.2) on an MacBook Pro. When at work, behind our proxy server, I could not get Outlook to connect to a client's public Exchange server, but this worked fine without changing any settings when I was connected to our DMZ network or at home (no proxy server in these cases). My MacBook was configured to use "Auto Proxy Configuration", and Safari worked fine in all three locations (as did Apple mail)
Today, the Microsoft Office auto-updater downloaded an update, and since it was installed, the problem has been fixed and I've been able to connect to our client's external Exchange server event when behind our local proxy server (Outlook now reports that the latest installed update is 14.2.5)

• Work Outlook mail to my Mac

I work on Windows at work (ARGHH!) and have an Outlook account. I want my Outlook mail to go to my Mac at home b/c I work from home quite a bit and aparently I cannot connect my Mac to our work server remotely.
How do I do this? Should I set it up to go into Entourage on my Mac? I am skeptical of having the mail come into my Mac Mail b/c there is a lot of Spam coming to my Work Outlook.
How do I do this?
Suggestions?
Thanks.

Hi,
since Entourage is not an Apple product, take a look here: http://www.microsoft.com/mac/products/entourage2008/default.mspx#/interacting_en tourage/
Entourage is only avaiable as a part of 'Office for Mac 2008'.
Btw.: ask the Administrator of your work company for access to your work PC from your home Mac using VPN/VNC.
I connect to my work PC from my Mac at home without problems.

• E-mail connection

I have recently left a company where I had an 8310 and have just transfered the SIM using a PAC to the new phone (8900) and otherwise merged the information from the old phone with the new one via the BB to BB link via Desktop Manager so that I can return the 8310 to my former employer.
The previous phone was set-up to communicate with my previous company pc + laptop via Lotus Notes..and intriguingly I still seem to get my e-mails to the old company account. I am happy to continue this until such time as they release the server connection as they are likely to continue as a client.
The new phone is on a direct contract via Vodaphone.
I want the new BB to communicate with my own pc and laptop. I use Outlook and otherwise operate through my ISP supplied wireless router (WEP2 coded) and externally with one e-mail address relating to my ISP and the other via my domain provider's server (GoDaddy).
I have so far managed to ensure that I have a link via my router so wireless is working. And then went for my e-mail connection...My Outlook received the mail with a load of control code. I didnt touch it (as the mail asked me not to). The symbol appeared on the phone as trying to connect and failed 3 times - by which time I had received 2 more mails simialr to the first.
The wizard e-mail option only allows  BB Enterprise Solutions connection. This asks for a password ... which gamely I thought as my computer's ... I suspect that I need a BB ES one? I could find nothing to help me on this.
Once this is resolved I then wish to continue to receieve mails from my 2 accounts via my BB as well as via Outlook and want them to interface....help please.

Normally a new device on a BES would require a new activation to the BES, and a new password from the BES Admin, however they are all set differently with varying permission--and BES is not my forte anyway. But in moving your information and preferences from the old device to the new, via Desktop Manager, you could have transferred the settings.
You will speak to Vodafone about the BES account. If you require BES, you will probably need a hosted provided for the service, like ExchangeMyMail. http://www.exchangemymail.com/index.asp
Look at your new device > Options > Security > General Settings > at **services** do you see any named IT Policy?

• Configuring E-Mail connectivity

Hello All,
We work on EP6 SP14 and Exchange.
I have configured e-mail connectivity according to help.sap.com :

but the mails aren't stored in Outlook.
Our groupserver supports IMAP protocol and I specified  folder where the sent items are stored on Exchange Server.
All help will be appreciated,
Thank you,

Thank you for response,
I am pretty new in this issue but I've red in help.sap the following:
Attribute : Sent messages folder
"Specify the folder on the server where the sent e-mail is to be stored.
Sent Items on the Microsoft Exchange server or Sent on the Lotus Domino server."
and additionally:"Messages sent from the portal can be stored on the groupware server only if the server supports IMAP protocol"
Have I misunderstand something?
Thank you,

• Exchange 2013 - outlook cannot connect server

Hi,
I have installed exchange server 2013 to testing it in my home lab. DC - domain.local and exchange  - sub.domain.com. Internet connection is with dynamic IP from ISP  - router (PPPoE). My ISP provide DDNS and I got sub.domain.com for dynamic
IP. Also ISP is blocking port 25. I've asked ISP to unblock port 25 and i don't know if they unblock it. For exchange server i use smart host for relay.
Problem: If i use port forwarding (25) mail flow is normal intern - extern. This was tested with OWA, but outlook cannot connect to exchange server: logging on mail server failed.
If i don't use port forwarding (25) outlook connect to exchange server, but i cannot receive email from external.
Please give me a hand on this.
Thank you.

Hi Radu,
how do you connect Outlook with Exchange? Usually you're using MAPI/RPC/HTTPS so there is no dependency with SMTP. How did you configure your Outlook? How did you configure your CAS Settings?
Please verify your CAS is configured correctly and you are using Outlook AnyWhere, see

• Outlook 2010 connected to Exchange 2013 prior to coexistence

I installed Exchange 2013 into the environment (Exchange 2010 SP3) and left it at that (ie no additional config).  I noticed Outlook 2010 client connected to Exchange 2013 somehow (it got a cert warning).  Why would Outlook connect to the new
Exchange 2013 server like that?  Although I enabled Outlook Anywhere, it is not trying RPC/HTTP first, but rather RPC/TCP.

Hi,
By design, if the user mailbox located in Exchange 2010 server, the Outlook client will connect to Exchange 2010 server automatically.
According to your description, I found that we have nothing additional configuration on Exchange 2013. So, only server name and internal services' URLs are configured automatically during the Exchange 2013 server installation.
If it has no mailbox located in Exchange 2013, it is odd that Outlook client connect Exchange 2013 first.
I suggest running "Test E-mail AutoConfiguration" in Outlook to verify which Exchange server the Outlook connected.

• Default Outlook Anywhere Connections

I'm using an Exchange 2013 SP1 environment with almost no customization. Only 2 servers exists - one holding CAS+MBX, and a second one being an MBX. No DAGs, balancers, etc. Mapi over HTTP is not enabled. The default self-signed certificates are used
(no new certificate was installed, nor any self-signed certificate manually installed on any server/client). A mailbox is provisioned on a database located on the first server. Outlook is configured for the corresponding user on a client machine and started.
Everything works just fine, with the 'Outlook Connection status' window showing 2 Exchange Directory + 2 Exchange Mail connections. Authentication is NTLM. Ports for all 4 connections are 6001 - which hint that Outlook Anywhere is indeed used.
From time to time, the familiar "Security Alert" comes up warning about the self-signed certificate, but this is usually traced in my experience to the various services Outlook is using, that are running on HTTPS (OAB, EWS, Availability...).
Here we find that in Exchange 2013 "Outlook Anywhere is enabled by default, because all Outlook connectivity takes place via Outlook Anywhere". Then
here it's stated that "Outlook Anywhere won't work with a self-signed certificate on the Client Access server". I remember the latter being true against Exchange 2010
instances, but seems not to be the case in Exchange 2013 anymore. Unless I'm missing something, from the standpoint of a default installation, the 2 articles contradict each other.
Second issue - even though Outlook is set for "Negotiate" in its Security setting, it looks like the Kerberos preferred option is never chosen. Would it have to do with the self-signed certificate and Outlook Anywhere ?

First article says "[...]In Exchange 2013, Outlook Anywhere is enabled by default, because all Outlook connectivity takes place via Outlook Anywhere.[...]". A simple Exchange 2013 SP1 setup, using defaults - including the built-in self-signed certs
- can be reached with no problems with a regular Outlook client. Since RPC over TCP is now defunct, and MAPI over HTTP isn't enabled (it's a regular installation, hence this feature is disabled) it can only be Outlook Anywhere being used by the Outlook client
to connect to the vanilla Exchange 2013 SP1 installation. Hence we can conclude that Outlook Anywhere works by default.
Second article comes around and says "[...] Outlook Anywhere won't work with a self-signed certificate on the Client Access server.[...]". Yet this is contrary to what I'm experiencing - since Outlook Anywhere is working (what other method of connecting
is left, right ? plus even the connections over :6001 in the Connection Status window hint at this) and there hasn't been any CA-emitted certificate installed on that stock CAS server.
So either the sentence in the second article is flat wrong (ONLY for 2013, Exchange 2010 NEEDS trusted certs), or it's missing a clause. Am I missing something ?
Hi,
Yes, Outlook Anywhere is enabled by default. Because all Outlook connectivity from Internal and External are using Outlook Anywhere.
For your second question, "[...] Outlook Anywhere won't work with a self-signed certificate on the Client Access server.[...]".  Based on my knowledge, the Self-signed certificate which is installed with Exchange 2013 installation is not issued
by any CA. It is issued by the Exchange server.
Outlook Anywhere won't work with a self-signed certificate on the Client Access server because there would be a certificate untrusted issue on every user's clients. If you don't install the untrusted certificate in your trusted root certificate store on
the client computer, the client will be always prompted for the certificate error even through you can work with Exchange services after clicking Yes when the Security Alert asking you “Do you want to proceed”.

• Outlook looses connectivity after DAG Failover

Hi team,
Im running a lab environment with 2xCAS (WNLB) and 2xMBX (DAG) servers. Since it's a lab environment I've set the DC as my FSW. All Virtual Directories are pointing to 'mail.contoso.com' pointing to the two CASs which is WNLB'ed.
To test the DAG Failover I set up a Database(MDB01) on MBX Server 1 which is active, made a passive replica on MBX Server 2. I shut down Server 01, which holds the active databases mounted. meanwhile two clients were running and both were connected. Once
the server got shutdown, both clients(Outlook 2013) went to 'Trying to connect to server' status.
Meanwhile checking the powershell on the Mbx Server 02, i noticed that the database was mounted. Went back to clients and open'ed up OWA, working as normal. However, the outlook client is still stuck in the 'Trying to connect to server' status. And
i opened up the 'Connection Status' and tried to 'Reconnect' but still no luck. I had to close and open up outlook to get back into the 'Connected' mode.
Any idea why this might be happening?
*Since unlike Exchange 2010's CAS Array architecture is no more there I didn't made any changes to any RPCClientAccess.... attribute. Both mail.contoso.com and autodiscover.contoso.com are pointed to the VIP of the CAS WNLB.
Cheers!

Hello,
After you configure a single namespace, you need to restart outlook to connect the newly configured namespace.
Before DAG Failover, I recommend you use netstat -ano | findstr ":80" command to check your outlook connect to CAS server.
In order to check the issue, please do DAG failover again, and then use netstat -ano | findstr ":80" command to check your outlook connect to CAS server.

Hi Cara,
Yes, here's the result from the query.

But whenever i restart the client it gets connected in no time. I'm confused in why after a manual DAG failover this happens.
Manual failover - I shut the active copy, the passive copy was also down for around 15 mins, booted up the passive server, it said Databases as Disconnected and Active Manager error in getting them mounted up and had a 99234343231 of CQL. So
to mark the server active did a 'net start clussvc /forcequorum'. This got the databases mounted up. But clients, they doesn't get connected automatically :(
UPDATE - The client got connected after like
15 mins. :s

• Outlook cannot connect after mailbox move from Exchange 2007 to 2013

I am in the middle of migrating an Exchange Server 2007 to 2013. Everything went fine up until I moved the first mailbox. I can access the mailbox via OWA, but not Outlook 2010. When I checked the account settings, the server is incorrect. It shows [email protected]
If I manually enter the name of the Exchange 2007 server, it changes to the Exchange 2013 server, as it should. I save the settings, open Outlook, the connection fails, and the server setting is changed to [email protected]
I then ran the Microsoft Connectivity Analyzer. There are 2 lines which caught my attention:
AutoDiscoverInternalRpcClientServer
[email protected]
AutoDiscoverHomeMdbDn
/o=mydomainMail/ou=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)/cn=Configuration/cn=Servers/cn=[email protected]/cn=Microsoft Private MDB
I've checked and rechecked everything and can't seem to locate my error.
Any thoughts? Thanks.

Totally correct!
