Outlook menu bar only in Yosemite

I am running the latest Yosemite beta and latest preview of Outlook for Mac. Since installing the latest releases, I am not able to see the full Outlook program. All I can see on screen is the Outlook menu bar (not the ribbon, just the menu bar). I have tried all the usual stuff to make the app visible but to no avail. Anyone have a clue??
Thanks for any help offered.
Paul

Hi TheProfessor314,
If you are having an issue with being unable to use some items in the menu bar of your Mac mini there are some possibilities for troubleshooting. I would suggest first testing to see if the issue is limited to a single user account. See this article for how -
Isolating an issue by using another user account
You may also want to try booting the computer into Safe Mode to see if the issue continues to occur. See this article -

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

What you are seeing is how Safari works now in iOS 5. There is no way to get that icon in Safari now. There other much better browsers available in the App Store. Look at iCab Mobile, Mercury, Atomic, ....
I have been running iOS 5x for so long now, that I don't even remember if that icon did appear in earlier iOS versions

  • Remove CC icon from status menu bar OS X Yosemite

How do I remove the Creative Cloud icon from the status menu bar in OS X Yosemite?
Apple allows me to command+drag their icons as I wish, and I can also control them via System Preferences.
Am I wrong, or is Adobe insisting on forcing this icon on my desktop?
Shouldn't the user have the ability to control what is and isn't showing on their screen? I know where my apps are, and I want a clean menu bar.

    Hi Helpme2015,
I believe you have only trashed Adobe products from Applications. There is a slightly different procedure to remove Adobe products from MAC but since you have trashed the Applications already, we would have to follow the lengthy way around to remove the Adobe products now. Please follow the below mentioned steps and suggest.
    1)      Delete all the Adobe folders available within /Library/Application Support/
    2)      Delete all the Adobe folders available within /Library/preferences
    3)      Delete all the Adobe folders available within ~/Library/Application Support/
    4)      Delete all the Adobe folders available within ~/Library/Preferences/
    5)      Delete files and programs from within Application & Utilities .

  • Spry menu bar -- only one of the submenus of a drop down set works.

I created a spry drop-down menu bar for navigation within my site for a special event (on October 19). Most items have only one filie (e.g., tickets) but some of the items (e.g., Historic Homes) have up to 8 sub-items.
I renamed the spry file. I defined all my menu and sub menu items using the dialog box. I styled the bar for both basic state and "hover."
    So far, so good.
I then created multiple new pages by using "Save As" (the original menu bar file)-- substituting appropriate text to to make the additional item and sub item files.
But when I link it all up and test it, only ONE of the submenus work. The menu disappears from the other sub menu pages when I navigate to them. Users can't get back to the original menu choices..
This is the first time with a Spry Menu bar.
    Can you help?
    Susan

  • Control-F2 "Move Focus to Menu Bar" only works occasionally

I don't want to use my trackpad too much due to a strain injury, hence I use the Control F2 "Move Focus to Menu Bar" a lot.
However this feature only works occasionally, it can work for hours and then suddenly stop working, sometimes I can fix in the Keyboard Shortcuts pref pane by unchecking and checking the "Move Focus to Menu Bar" checkbox, at other times it takes a restart of the system.
I've been a big Apple fan-boy since OS 9, and I always marvel at the cool features in OSX, this is the first time I have a Windows-esque experience with the OSX UI
I've also posted the above on the Apple Stackexchange, but nobody knows how to fix this.

I too prefer to use the keyboard over mouse/trackpad. Being a switcher from Windows the default keyboard shortcut to "Move focus to the menu bar" of ^F2 (ctrl+F2) was just too awkward a combination for me, and so I redefined the shortcut to be ⌘-space (cmd+space) which is much closer to what I'd been used to in Windows (Alt+space).
This has worked most of the time, from OSX 10.3 in 2004 right up to this weekend in 2011, using 10.6 whereas it now fails most of the time.
What has happened to cause this turnaround? In trying to discover what I'd done "wrong", I noticed that for the first time this weekend I'd run Voice Over (the OS X app). And probably by no coincidence, now, I can only successfully execute my keyboard shortcut to "Move focus to the menu bar" during the introductory announcement of Voice Over: "Welcome to Voice Over. Voice Over speaks descriptions of items on the screen and can be used to control the computer using only your keyboard. If you already know how to use Voice Over press the V key now. If you want to learn how to use Voice Over press the space key now". Hence, I have about twenty seconds of available time to use my ⌘-space (cmd+space) shortcut.
I can achieve a working shortcut by reverting away from my ⌘-space (cmd+space) shortcut, and restoring the default ^F2 (ctrl+F2), or some other different shortcut such as ⌘-, (cmd+comma).
So, I wonder, if my experience adds anything to the [already slightly stale] discussion?

  • Menu bar problems in Yosemite?

Is anyone else dealing with a frozen menu bar in Yosemite?
It seems my issue is related to SytemUIServer eating up a ton of CPU power and then hanging. The problem was causing my whole system to run slowly right after I installed Yosemite two days ago. Now everything else seems to run just fine by I still have a frozen clock in the menu bar and can't access any of the options up there (clock, volume, bluetooth, time machine).
Weirdly the icons for Google Drive and Dropbox in the menu bar work just fine. At this point everything else seems fine so I suppose the problem is tolerable. But I'd really rather not have that frozen clock staring at me all the time! By the way, I everything freezes up when I try to access Date & Time settings through the main Settings menu.
Has anyone else had a similar problem?
    Thanks!

  • Itunes doesn't seem to synch "wirelessly" with my iphone.  It seems to work with emails but not photos / videos I've taken on my phone.  Also, there is no "device" listed on itunes menu bar, only when connected via cables

My computer / iTunes is set up correctly for wireless (account info. all good), and emial is synched wirelessly.  BUT not photos / videos or songs.  I seem to have to plug my iPhone into my computer for iTunes to recognize my device.  Shouldn't iTunes recognize my iphone wirelessly?  For example, I have read that "device" should show up in menu bar on iTunes but it doesn't unless I'm cabled in.
Also, when I go to my iPhone to "synch wirelessly with iTunes", the button / tab doesn't light up for me to chose and tells me will synch when "smith - laptop" is available.....
This is my first iPhone, and just got it so may be user error.....
    thanks

Did you build Elsa with this package from AUR: elsa-svn-arch
The way your elsa.conf looks like indicates to me that you have not.
Please use the package because you are also missing pam-files.

  • Can't get full menu bar only get chevron

I installed PSE7 and removed PSE6. When I load the Organizer, instead of the full menu bar (File/Edit/Find/View/Window/Help) all I get is a sideway chevron. I can click onthe chevron and get a dropdown of the menu but how can I get the full menu to show onthe menu bar? In the Editor, the menu bar shows fine.

To add to Barbara's perspective: More and more computers are shipping with high-resolution/small dot-pitch displays with the DPI (dots per inch) preconfigured to 120, and dropping the DPI to 96 makes other applications pretty hard to read.  Combined with their insistence on using low-contrast grey elements in the user interface, PSE can be tough to use by those of us with aging eyes.
Microsoft's user-interface guidelines specify that programs should support DPI's of 96 and 120:
    http://www.elementsvillage.com/forums/showpost.php?p=375024&postcount=11
Microsoft doesn't enforce those guidelines, of course, and software vendors are free to annoy their paying customers in whatever way they want.

  • Menu bar no longer on both screens.

I just upgraded from Mavericks to Yosemite. I use two monitors and I really like having the menu bar available on both screens, which was new to Mavericks. I also use spaces heavily to manage having several applications running at the same time. For example on one space I will have an internet browser on one monitor and my finder window on another. Then I will have another space with a coding application and another browser for pre-viewing web page designs, then another with Adobe photoshop and Illustrator on either screen. I like to keep the spaces linked so I don't get too lost moving back and forth between spaces.
The problem is, now in Yosemite when I link the spaces together so it switches both screens at the same time the menu bar only appears on the primary monitor. Then if I am using an application like photoshop which relies a lot on the menu bar for funcionality, and it is on the secondary monitor I have to go all the way over to the opposite monitor to access the menu.
Does anyone know if there is a way to keep the spaces linked without the menu bar disappearing?

After not using the computer for 30 minutes, the menu bar is now working again.  Must be a bug...

  • Date & Time won't show in Menu Bar

I just installed the latest automatic update for Leopard and now in the right hand side of the menu bar only shows the Default Folder X icon and the Spotlight icon (my bluetooth, infared, airport icons and date & time are missing).
I go to the Date & Time preferences and click the option to have it appear, but when I close that window or just switch to another tab on that same window, it resets it back to being unchecked.
I know, of course, to unlock these settings and tried locking them or leaving them unlocked in hopes it would actually "lock in" my choice of settings, but with no such luck.
If anyone knows how to get my other icons back where they belong I'd appreciate that as well.

I actually don't use "Default Folder" at all, it came with Leopard.
But this problem didn't come up until the latest updates.
There was a file permissions error in running activity Monitor, though.

Double-click didn't do anything, tried to drag it up there thinking (for some reason) that might work, but no luck there as well.

+I had Default Folder on my OS9 computer but read some things about issues with the OSX version that made me decide not to continue with it, though I haven't read anything about recent versions.+
    {quote}
No luck here, as well. Although the file I was supposed to delete in ByHost wasn't there, so maybe that has something to do with it.

  • Getting Date and Time to Show in the Menu Bar

I have the OS setup to set the date and time automatically and the clock set to "show date and time in the Menu Bar. I have the international set up for the Day of Week, Month, Date and Year, but the menu bar only shows "Fri X:XX:XX PM" is there any way to get it to show me Fri May XX, 2008 X:XX:XX PM"?
    Thanks for any help.
    John

I use iClock too. It is much more customizable than the Time & Date clock provided with the system. I have used it for several years and it has been very stable for a third-party application.
Although I have only used it for a couple of months, I also really like another third-party application you may like, to put weather conditions on the menubar called WeatherDock (freeware). It accesses Weather.com to provide the current temperature (of course) but it can include several other weather conditions (depending on how much space you have on your menubar). In addition to temperature, I have it show the weather condition (currently partly cloudy, typical in Houston), wind direction and speed (I ride a bike to the office and this tells me if I’ll be fighting it or aided), and humidity (also a Houston favorite). It will also speak the weather conditions when they change.
