Outlook on MAC takes long to download attachment

We have a user that uses Outlook on MAC saying that opening attached PDF files he receives in his outlook takes long time.
Attachment with a size of 828.9 KBytes takes 10 seconds to open on his laptop connected by cable to a LAN.
The user is using Outlook on MAC to receive emails from his Office 365 account.
Please let me know if there is a fix for this issue.
Thanks.

why does it take longer to download a movie than to watch it???

Most likely reason is a slow internet connection.
Test is at speedtest.net on a computer, you need 6 Mbps for instant HD.

  • Solution for Outlook for mac no longer syncing to iCloud?

I have a new iPhone 5s and am running Mavericks on my MacBook. I use Outlook for mac for my mail and contacts.
The new version of iTunes (since around mid October 2013) no longer syncs contacts and calendars from Outlook - and from searching forums online it seems that Outlook no longer syncs with iCloud.
When I log into www.iCloud.com this seems to be true as my iPhone calendar is consistent with the calendar I see on iCloud.com, so icloud seems fine.
The problem is that calendar appointments and contacts from Outlook on my mac do not sync through to iCloud - and I cannot work out how to acheive this - very frustrating.
Can anyone help or offer a suggestion?
    Thank you!

Thanks Csound - I don't know the technical details - but until October all contacts and calendars were syncing from Outlook for mac through onto my iPhone and iPads - each time that I synced connected with iTunes.
The newer version of iTunes now no longer syncs these - so I'm stuck using Outlook on mac and an iPhone - but neither will talk to each other - the contacts and calendars don't swap.
Surely I'm not the only person with this problem - has anyone else found a workaround?
If you're using Outlook for mac how are you syncing info to icloud and back?
Whether through google or sending using iCloud mail, or whatever it might be.
    Thank you

  • Why does my mac take longer to go to sleep

    Hi
I wonder if anybody has experienced their macs taken longer to close down the screen when put to sleep.
When I used to hit sleep, macs screen would disappear immediately, now it stays on for 30 secs or more than shuts down.
My mac is running Snow Leopard 10.6.8.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

  • My Mac takes longer to start after installing OS X Lion... is this normal?

I just made the upgrado of my OS to the new OS X Lion and in general my computer is working faster than before. The only probelm im having is that when I turn on my mac it takes significantly longer than before. I don´t know if this is normal with the new OS or is there anything I can do to speed up againi the starting process.
    Thanks

The OS starting process itself is fine for me, but the time between turning on the macbook until the apple logo appears seems to be much longer now.

  • Why does it take longer to download app on my MBA core i7 than it does my iPhone 3gs?

The app is over 700 Mbs but still.  It takes about 20 to download a Cd from itunes too. Not happy!!!

This solution worked wonders for me.  Maybe it wil work for you as well.  Good luck!
Go to the network (System Preferences -> Network) and add a new network.  Give it a name, then leave everything else standard.  Click the APPLY button, quit the application and reboot your MBA.
    That's it.
I have no idea why this works.  It may be that the default network location is broken, but building a new one fixes it.  Let me know if it works.

  • Unable to attach PDF to email (Outlook for Mac 2011)

We are pushing out software upgrades for CS5 and MS Office 2011 for Mac. We've discoverd that we can't use the Attach to email feature in Acrobat. The spinning rainbow wheel pops up for about a minute, and then Acrobat is non-responsive and we have to force quit. We can still drag and drop an attachment so we have a viable workaround but obviously we'd like to be able to use the automated feature.
    All software is up-to-date.
In the preferences panel of Outlook, we have selected Outlook to be the default mail application.
As a sidenote, this feature doesn't work with Acobat X beta either. However, in the beta version of Acrobat X, if we declare Apple's mail application to be the default, it works fine. Unfortunately we use the Office suite as part of our enterprise system, so that's what we need to work with.
Has anyone else experienced this? I've logged a ticket with Adobe but I haven't heard back from them yet.
    Thanks for any advise.

    Take the bhama way
figured out how to make it work.  I am using Adobe Acrobat X Pro (mac)
and MS Outlook for Mac 2011.
For those who are interested, this is what I did:
    1. Create a folder on desktop to save your pdf¹s files you want to email
to.  Mine is named, "PDF to Email"
    2. Open Automator, create a "Folder Action"
    3. At the top, "Choose Folder", choose your newly created folder on the
    desktop
    4. Choose the "Rename Finder Items" action from the action list.  I chose,
"Don¹t Add" on the add a Copy Finder Items Action menu.
    5. On the "Add Date or Time to Finder Item Names" I chose, "Name Single
Item" from the first drop down menu.
    6. Click on "Options" at the bottom of that window to select the "Show
this action when the workflow runs" so you can rename your         file
something other than the Acrobat default.
    7. Choose the "Create New Outlook Mail Message" from the action list and
add it below the "Name Single Item in Finder Item Names"
    8. Choose "File>Save As" and give your file a name.  Mine is, "PDF to
    Email".
    9. Close Automator
    10. Open Acrobat X Pro.
    11. Go to "File>Action Wizard>Create New Action"
    12. Here you choose, "Save to>A Folder on my computer"
    13. Choose the folder on the desktop that we saved earlier
    14. Save the file, with the action name you will remember.
Now when you are in Acrobat X Pro and you want to send that .pdf file via
Outlook for Mac 2011, follow the steps below.
With the file you want to email open, go to "File>Action Wizard>(Action
you created) Mine is "PDF to Email".  It will take a few seconds, but you
will get an "Action Completed".  You will get a pop up that allows you to
name/rename the file. Then it should open your Outlook with your .pdf
    attached and ready for sending.
You might need to tweak the actions to suit your needs, but this should
    work for you.

It's supposed to work now? I've made sure I'm on latest (check for update)
and it says I am. Still get an error. It does bring Outlook to the
forground, but same error when I hide Outlook - An error occurred while
trying to create a mail document. Suggestions?

  • Mac Mail and slow downloads

If I go to Mac Mail directly (via the stamp icon) it takes four or five minutes to get things down into the in box.
If I gi via my .mac account and safari it is there immediately.
    Any ideas?

Do you have any rules or Smart Mailboxes created in Mail?
Is Junk Mail filtering enabled in Mail?
If so and depending on the number of new messages available when checking the account for new mail, all messages are filtered for Junk, rules are processed along with Smart Mailbox processing. A .Mac account type is really an IMAP account type and behaves in the same way - the account's Inbox mailbox is synchronized with the server which sometimes takes longer than downloading messages for a POP type account depending on the number and size of message attachments, etc.
Long story short, there are many other operations that take place when accessing your account with an email client such as the Mail.app vs accessing the account via webmail.
Have you tried using the Rebuild Mailbox function on the account's Inbox mailbox?

  • Why do movies rented from iTunes take soooo long to download to my Mac?

Why do movies rented from iTunes take sooo long to download to my Mac?

I am noticing the same thing. It appears to be since the recent update, but I have never had a delay before.

  • Why does it take so long to download software like Adobe to a Mac laptop

I just recently bought a MacBook Pro and I am installing Adobe Reader and it is taking sooooo long to install.  I have been installing since 8:30 pm and its now 10:27 and its only up to 42%.  Why does it taking so long?  Also I have downloading other software and it took forever as well.  Why does it take son long to download software to the Mac?

    Something is obviously wrong.
Stop the download and take the machine back to Apple as you have 90 days free support.
They will test the machine to see if it's a hardware issue or a problem with the Mac itself.
If they say it's fine and it surfs/downloads fast on their connections, then it's likely something wrong with your home network or router.
Did you by any chance change your DNS settings in Network?
This could be the problem, delete what you entered and reboot the machine, the ISP's default DNS settings will return.
To OpenDNS? On the router? Are you using your own router of it someone managing it for you?
Are you over 21 and can you legally surf for adult sites? If some sort of filtering is on, this could be the cause.
OpenDNS doesn't have servers everywhere, so it causes certain downloads from Akamai servers to come from a lot farther away than your ISP servers.
Have you run Internet speed tests? Using other machines on your network are they fast?
Is your router or modem old? Did you power them off, wait 30 seconds and power them back on?
It's rather a lot to try to figure out network issues, you may have to call in a local professional.

  • Attachments take soooo long to download?

    Hi,
I have a decent adsl line (2mb), but the attachments to mails take so long to download, loads slower than normal - is there anything I can do.
eg an attachment of 2MB takes like 15-20 mins..????
I noticed this on my mac mini, then on my intel imac
    any ideas?

Since the problem occurred with two different machines it is probably not a disk space issue, although if your mail files are already very big that could be a problem. Report what Get Info gives you on the folder ~/Library/Mail. Also, try downloading a large file without going through mail and time it - your line may not be giving you what you think, or your ISP may have too many customers on the one link. You can try this one if you like, it is 155MB, so on your 2Mb line it should take about 15mins.

  • Why does it takes so long to download the new version of Itunes?

why does it takes so long to download the new version of Itunes?

Since you cannot download iTunes on an iPod touch, this would not seem to be the correct forum for this question. I'd suggest you post full details of your problem in either the iTunes for Mac forum or the iTunes for Windows forum, as applicable to your system.

  • WHY MAIL TAKES SO LONG TO DOWNLOAD ATTACHMENTS???

I'm using Mail 2.0.7 program to handle my mac.com mail account. It takes ages to download attatchments, while if I open a message from mac.com web page or other mail programs the download is perfect.... any idea why this happens? how can I solve this?
    PowerbookG4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

How long does "it takes ages" include?
Accessing messages via webmail access using a web browser and with an email client are different entirely and not comparable.
Assuming you are accessing your .Mac account as a .Mac type account in Mail (which is really an IMAP type account and behaves in the same way), did you create your .Mac account as an IMAP type or a POP type account with the other email clients or mail programs?

  • Why does it take so long to download iOS in iTunes?

My daughter downloads iOS 5.01 over-the-air directly to her iPhone 4 in less than two minutes. I try to download it in iTunes on my Mac and it takes over 2 hours! My internet speed is approx. 36 Mbps. I have had this problem repeatedly for months and months. No other large downloads like this take anywhere near this long on my Mac. Only iOS downloads using iTunes? What am I doing wrong? Thank you!

I have the same question. I, initally started downlading ios 5.01 to itune through my pc. The file is 812mb!! with approximately a 3hr download time.
I then started the download directly to my iphone via wifi and the downald was complete in 15 mins.
    why?
