Outlook opens very slow

After updating  iTunes, outlook opens extremely slow, switching from mail to calendar very slow. Saving colander appointments is very slow.
Started about a week or ten days ago??

Do you currently have the MobileMe control panel installed on that PC? If so, uninstall it. Does that speed up your Outlook?

  • Save Open dialog box opening very slow

I have windows 7 professional 64bit OS. whenever i try to open/save as dialog box it appears very slow, then it will say it is not responding then after 10-15sec it will come alive.
    Need help!!!!!!

    Blair,
I followed your suggestions above....reset IE ...clean boot. Didn't solve the problem.  (had trouble making that MSCONFIG window bigger !? <wink>)
Problem still exists.  And to be clear, here is the problem(s) ...I believe they are all interrelated.
#1.  I end the explorer.exe process and restart it.  Run Explorer and start clicking folders in my FAVORITES.  System hangs for about 10 seconds before it catches up.
Alternatly, after a explorer.exe restart, if I run explorer and start clicking down through folders from the C: drive, there is no hang.   SUSPECT - some sort of file for favorites needs to be rebuilt?!
#2. Open MS Word.  Type a few letters.  Select File/Save.  Most icons under Favorites are white.  Trying clicking more than one, but system hangs for ten seconds until icons fill in.
#3.  WINDOWS button, start typing in the search INTERNET....5-10 seconds before Internet Explorer (and other INT* things show up.!  Usually this is instantaneous.
    System Info:
Great machine and fast for over a year, and now this started FYI.
OS Name    Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium

    4 gb Ram

ACTIONS TAKEN:  (estimated 30 reboots today)
    - Ensure all folders are GENERAL under properties
    - Advanced Attributes - turned off "allow files on this drive to have contents indexed in addition to file properties"
    - Checked Indexed location is C: drive/ User/ just my data areas....reindexed
    - Tried reboot with Windows Search service disabled....no help.  Turned back on.
    - Tried MS Essentials off.  Tried Firewall off
    - Rebuilt ICONCACHE - was 8mb, now less 450kb
    - Archived OUTLOOK down to a reasonable size (and had to do the manual compress to reduce the file size after)
    - turned off some Windows visual effects.
    - Turned off Dropbox from autostarting....this was before I tried the Clean Boot
    - turned by ON (default)  in Startup - though it has Unknown MFG and no details  :~(   , i found that it likely is needed for my 64 bit machine.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Bpel control console opens very slow (10.1.3.4)

    Hi
I have Oracle SOA Suite 10.13.4 (+ MLR #7 patch) installed at HP-UX itanium server. From the past two days, bpel console takes too much time open on almost every page. Few days before this problem started i had changed the JVM settings by increasing the count to 2 (from em cosole) for improving performance, but that made bpel console very slow. So i decided to revert back the JVM settings and made JJVM to 1 again for oc4j_soa and then restarted the server. Bt even now the bpel cosnsole takes ages to open (almost a minute) for every page of console.
The AS control cosole and web service manager console works fine and this issue is with bpel console only.
There is no load on server at present.
Please let me know how i can trace out the root cause for this issue. Is there any way i can increase logging level for the bpel console application and where i can view that log ?
    Thanks.

Please ask your DBA to check how ur Dehydration repository is behaving. Worth checking ORABPEL and ORAESB schemas.
To me, you might need to purge instances and related data. But please check with DBA first.
Also, while opening BPEL Console, monitor Memory/CPU on Application server and DB server.
    They may give some hint.
You can also use tool like JRMC, JUnit etc to see the JVM usage.

  • Illustrator CS3: Very Slow Open, Very Slow Save

    Hello all,
I just recently have been issues with Illustrator CS3. Up until about a few weeks ago, it had been running flawlessly. Now, whenever I try to open up any EPS or AI, Illustrator will literally take at least a minute to open it. This happens with a complex 2mb AI files, but also for a tiny simple files consisting of a 1" square on a blank artboard. No matter the file size, it will take around a minute to open it up.
    Opening a 44kb .eps: 75 seconds
    Opening a 210kb .ai file: 67 seconds
    Saving a 76kb .eps: 56 seconds
Export to grayscale PNG: 66 seconds
Export AI Layers to SWF Files: 2 seconds
    This is ridiculous.
Saving is the same issue. It takes a ridiculously long time to save even a blank document.
It's not my machine (2x2.66ghz Intel Mac with 5gb ram, OSX 10.5.6). Photoshop feels a little sluggish too, but not to this extent. InDesign, Flash, Dreamweaver, Acrobat all run perfectly. I even uninstalled all the CS3 products and reinstalled to find the same issues. And now that I've been given a time sensitive job, I need to get this program running quickly again.
I'm not sure what I can do to solve the problem, aside from trying to reinstall OSX and start fresh. Any and all help is appreciated! Thank you!

Well, I reinstalled Mac OS X before even trying those methods. It was less of a hassle than I thought it would be. Solved the problems with Illustrator. Everything is running fantastic.
But, I was just working in Photoshop, opening about ~20-30 small PNG's at a time to resize, grayscale, etc. I opened up about 60 at once to make things go quicker. They all opened up, with a little bit of lag. Now, if I even try to open up 10-15 PNG's at a time, they load very slow, like the problem I was having before with Illustrator...
Is there anyway to reset some memory settings? Or clear some cache? I believe this is what caused my issues with Illustrator before (opening too many files at once.)

  • Microsoft Outlook 2010 very slow start up

    Hello there,
Whenever I log on to my Computer and open my Outlook - it takes forever to start up, it's always slow on the 'Loading profile' part. Takes about 10 mins sometimes. However this only happens when I first switch on my Computer - if I close down outlook
and open it again then it loads fine, however if I were to shut down my computer and open it again - then the slow load up process would happen all over again. We currently use Microsoft exchange for our emails. And my outlook has two profiles but only uses
one of them. Should I perhaps delete both profiles and create a new one? I've disabled plugins but that doesn't seem to be the problem. Any ideas?
    Many thanks,
    Michael Peters

    Hi Michael,
Please run Outlook under the safe mode to avoid some AVs and add-ins for testing.
If it works under the safe mode, it seems some AVs or add-ins lead this issue. Please disable them properly.
Please re-create profile to refresh the caches for testing.

  • IPod isn't recognized by iTunes and iTunes opens very slow!!

    Hey!
So here's my very urgent problem (go on vacation tomorrow!!!):
Everytime I click to open iTunes, it takes about 5 minutes until it opens! I have a Windows XP and have also updated iTunes to the newest software. I don't know what the problem is...
And second, my iPod doesn't connect with iTunes, it won't be recognized by iTunes! Windows recognizes it, but iTunes doesn't. I've already tried at every USB connection, but it doesn't work! Well, once it worked and I thought that was it, but the next time it didn't work anymore!
I've got a pink iPod mini (4 GB) and I dropped it some times, but the man in the Apple Support store said, it's got nothing to do with the hardware. Really?
Who can help me please - very fast??!
    Thank you!
    Chrissy

    Sorry, don't real understand! ;-))
OK, I closed all other background applications when using iTunes. But the problem is that I couldn't do the next step because iTunes always tell me: "The software required for communicating with the iPod isn't installed correctly. Please reinstall..." So I can't drag the iPod icon from my computer (and anyway: where is "my computer"??) to iTunes application (where is that one??)
But at least it's good news that nothing's wrong with the hardware (couldn't afford a new one! ;-))
Please reply soon, it would be real cool if you'd help me with further steps... and everyone else too of course! ;-D

  • Report with spreadsheet as desformat opens very slow

    Hi All,
    Greetings.
We have an xls file which was generated by report runtime.
This xls was created with option desformat=spreadsheet in report
runtime. The problem is it takes considerably long time to open.
More than 5 minutes for a file with 6750 records.
    -------scenario
create a rdf report file, say test.rdf.
    run test.rdf using SRW.run_report(myPlist)
    with option for desformat=spreadsheet.
    and DESNAME=abc.xls
the report runs fine and creates an xls file with 6700 records.
    open excel application.
    open abc.xls
    opening abc.xls is painfully slow.
    any ideas/suggestion?
    thanks in advnace,
    -Jafer

    hi all,'
    Sadly oracle suggested that,
spreadsheet format is not to be used for running reports with large records,
its meant to be used only for small reports.
The reason is report server adds tags to xls report generated using spreadsheet format.
There is a workaround for this issue, if opened in excel application and saved as
excel , the new file looses all the tags but keeps the format.
so it reduces to 1/5th of acutal size and opens quick.
    cheers,
    -J

  • Documents are opening very slow!

    Hello Everyone !
Few days ago i installated Sharepoint Server 2013 with mssql server farm 2008 64 bit stand-alone-server  on the virtual machine Windows 2008 64 with next configuration : 4 core 2.0 Ghz Intel Xeon CPUs and 12 GB RAM and i have a problem with opening
documents  such as word and exel ...Generelly everything works fine ! But when i try to open a document from library it does ... but very slowly and it takes up to 12 seconds .Blob settings are enabled : BlobCache location="C:\BlobCache\14"
    path ..... maxSize="10" enabled="yes" /> <ObjectCache maxSize="10" />
May be i should use external file where i can place my documents to make things faster ?? I'm new to SP ...so i like
to know your oppinion about this issue . How i can solve this problem ?

    Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that the documents were opening slowly in SharePoint.
I recommend to uncheck the Automatically detect settings in Internet Explorer to see if the issue still occurs.
Please click Internet Options in IE > Connections > LAN settings > and uncheck “Automatically detect settings”.
    Best regards.
    Thanks

  • Outlook email very slow

My emails are provided via Microsoft Outlook. When first opening the account it runs really slowly or doesn't respnd at all, and when it does it sometimes goes off the page on to another one. Any ideas?

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

  • Outlook Connector very slow on some machines

    Hi,
I have installed outlook connector on 3 machines, and it's really slow on 2 of them. Identical hardware, identical Outlook version. Installed all updates from Microsoft...
    Simple test:
Start outlook, wait a bit (so it's done loading and stuff), click on a shared folder with 50 mails.
On the fast one, this is practically instant, with the folder-contents showing up at once.
On the slow ones, this takes about 7 seconds from click to the folder-contents showing up. Also, it shows the "Synchronizing folder"-dialog (just shows the dialog for a couple seconds, then it vanishes and the folder-contents show up. No progress bar movement)
    Outlook 2003 (11.8313.8221) SP3
    Connector 7.3 update 1
    Messaging server 7.3-11.01 64bit
If we set up outlook with an imap account instead of the connector on the slow machine, it's just as fast as the fast machine...

    whaterverfdsa wrote:
Is the problem the system/install of OC or the profile/user. Try reinstalling OC on the "fast" system but use the profile/user of one of the "slow" systems.Have tried the other way around (tried with the "fast user" on the "slow machine" :o)... still slow..)In which case the problem is unlikely to be "server-side". You can also review the Outlook Connector debug logs to see if there is some indication of why the delay is occuring.
    http://wikis.sun.com/display/CommSuite/Troubleshooting#Troubleshooting-Logging
I can't seem to get any IMAP telemetry logs from outlook connector....
I wasn't quite sure what was meant when the docs say create a directory imap/<userid>. What is the userid? So I tried some variations. This is for user in the default domain. Tried jdoe, [email protected] and an alias address (it was the mail-value in ldap). Nothing appeared when using the outlook connector, but when I added the account as an imap account in outlook, logs appeared in the jdoe-directory... Doesn't the outlook connector use imap???
Yes it does. Telemetry logs are only created for new connections after the telemetry directory for the user has been created. So you would need to restart Outlook to get the log files.
(btw: imap idle doesn't seem to work when using outlook connector, but works when using imap account...?)It definitely appears Outlook Connector does not make use of IMAP IDLE. A quick search didn't reveal any existing enhancement requests to have this functionality added.

    Shane.

  • Environment Open very slow

    Using 2.5.3.21 with .net (c#)
I create a new environment with a few databases. The first time I open the environment (before committing any transactions), it opens instantly. However as soon as I insert any data (even just one byte), it takes about 2 minutes to open.
I have the following line in my environment config:
_envConfig.RunRecovery = true;If I omit this setting the environment opens instantly.
    I tried the following instead:
                    _env = DatabaseEnvironment.Open(HomeDirPath, _envConfig);
foreach (var trans in _env.Recover(0, true))
                        trans.Txn.Abort();
_env.Checkpoint();This too, is fast, but the call to Recover seems to have no effect on uncomitted transactions and some of the databases entries open in a locked state...waiting for a commit/abort.
It seems unreasonable to wait 2 minutes to wait for pending transactions to abort, on transactions that have less than 1KB of data pending.
    Any help is appreciated.

I discovered the problem. When you set Recover to true on environment open, whilst stepping through with the Visual Studio debugger, it takes almost two minutes to open the environment, whether or not you have uncommitted transactions. I just tried the exact code on the same enviroment by running without the debugger and in this case the enviroment opens instantly.
This is strange behaviour, which is most likely related to the BDB .net API (I'm guessing)
For now , I'll leave the question as unanswered.

  • Mac apps won't open, very slow, wifi: no hardware installed.

Hi, I am extremely frustrated right now. I recently software updated, but I'm having major issues. The IT department at my university couldn't handle this one. Basically, my MacBook won't do anything right now. It starts fine, and I can still access files so right now I'm working on transferring all of them. When I try to open an app, it will just bounce forever and I'll have to force quit it. Also, when my wifi is clicked, it says there is no hardware installed in grey type. Ive tried repairing permissions and everything short of a wipe/install....to my knowledge. I'm so frustrated right now so I'd love some input! Thanks!

Outlook 2007 worked fine with my old router and when our laptops are connected on other networks.  But both home laptops take about a minute to go through the "receiving mail" process with GMAIL pop3 accounts when connecting through the new E4200.  Everything is factory default, and I reinstalled Outlook.  This problem does not occur with the roadrunner email accounts also set up in Outlook.  Any help welcome!

I have not heard anything like this before but clearly the problem is, there is a "lag" with the gmail accounts behind the router. Have you tried to reset the router? What is the hardware version by the way of this router?

  • Crystal Reports Moved from one file server to another - very slow opening

    Hello,
I am new here, and I am in need of a solution. If I am not in the correct forum, please advise.
Our crystal reports were moved from an old file server to a new file server.  Once the old file server was shut down the reports opened very slow in Designer and in our 3rd party application.  Our server team determined that the reports are still attempting to connect to the old file server.  If the old file server is brought online or dns is changed to reflect another machine that it can make a connection to, it opens with no delay.
For some reason, not every report is affected.  Most of the reports are Crystal 8.5, but I have some Crystal XI reports that do the same thing.  I can't find any reference in the reports to any file server/location....
I need to resolve this issue on the Crystal 8.5 version due to the application that we are running.
Is there a way to fix this other than to recreate the reports (I have over 400 of them)?
Any assistance or advice is appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Nancy

    Hi Nancy,
The server info still needs to be updated. Are you setting location for each subreport also?
Possibly this registry key will help, I only have CR 2008 installed so you'll have adjust for what ever you are using:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Business Objects\Suite 12.0\Crystal Reports\DatabaseOptions - VerifyStoredProceduresOnFirstRefresh = No
    and
    VerifyStoredProceduresOnSetLocation = No
    And
    VerifyWhenDBDriverUpgraded = No
    And
    ViewOutOfPlaceSubreports = No
Close CR designer before making any changes. And the usual warning about modifying the registry.
    Thank you
    Don
