Outlook prompts for credentials when left open for multiple days

Hi,
We have a system setup with Outlook 2010 on it (connected to Exchange Online) and a 3rd party piece of software that interacts with it to send and process incoming messages.  This system remains up and running with no user interaction indefinitely.
The problem we're having is that after about a week or so, Outlook stops processing emails and prompts for credentials.  Outlook has been set to remember the password (and it's not an issue of the password being expired).  Is there a setting to stop
this (I'm assuming it's Exchange that's the culprit)?

First of all exchange online is not the culprit in this case. Can you check what method you're using to authenticate the user? ADFS? DirSync with Password Sync or cloud identitiy? Once checked please make sure that the time interval setup for login prompt
once the user account is inactive is setup unlimited for this user. Thanks.
Kindly Mark this as answer if found helpful. Thanks.

    Hello Folks,
We have recently deployed Office 365 (We had Kerio email system previously, But we did not do a migration).
    The problem is
Office 365 Outlook prompts for password whenever outlook is restarted
    Tried the following workarounds,
    1) Logon network security under More
Settings on the Microsoft Exchange Security tab
is set to a value other than Anonymous Authentication
    2) Tried removing the Generic Credentials from Credential manager.
The is issue is only for some users (Majority).
    (OS Platform: Windows 7/Windows 8).
    Thanks in Advance

The first thing I would recommend to do is to make sure that your install missing Outlook updates and try again.
I would also recommend asking them in this forum: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/home?forum=outlook

  • Per diem for multiple days trip - as per German law 2014

    Dear all,
I'm working on the per diem as per German law 2014. For the multiple days trip, the meal per diem as 12 EUR will be paid for the first and the last day.
It's configured and tested fine in our system.. But then when I remove the check at "Accommodation", system will calculate 0 EUR for the first and the last day if the travel time less than 8 hour - seems that SAP considers it's not multiple day trip - SAP apply the rate of single day.
    For example,
    Start           10.07.2014     18:00
    Return         12.07.2014     09:00
With Accommodation, the per diem for meals calculated as:
    10.07.2014     12 EUR
    11.07.2014     24 EUR
    12.07.2014     12 EUR
Without Accommodation, the per diem for meal calculated as:
10.07.2014     0 EUR          (as travel time in this day less than 8 hours - from 18:00 to 24:00)
    11.07.2014     24 EUR
12.07.2014     12 EUR          (as travel time in this day more than 8 hours - from 00:00 to 09:00)
    1. -> So I understand that SAP use accommodation as proof for multiple day trip, and it's required to calculate the meal per diem for the first and last day. Is it correct?
    2. Is there any solution for this issue? As normally company pay dirrectly the hotel cost, so the employees dont have to claim the accommodation - but if we dont check at the accommodation, the meal per diem not calculate correctly for first and last day.
    Appreciate your answer
    Best regards,
    Andy

    Hi Nina
I suspect this could be to do with how you have the hours and intervals defined (and are you starting this from a domestic schema first of all as if so then is the problem as the trip schema can only be domestic or international and not both when taking into consideration per diem calculation!)  You must have the distinction that the trip is either domestic or international basically.
Also In the standard logic, a reimbursement interval has maximal 24 hours (neither a calendar day or a 24 hours
interval). If you maybe reach within 1 calendar day, 1 additional destination at 13:00 the interval is divided into 1 interval
from 00:00 - 13:00 and one from 13:00 - 24:00. So the reimbursement amounts for hours in view V_T706V are read  1 time with 13 hours and 1 time with 11 hours. So in sum T706V is read with 24 hours for this day. This is the same as if there would be no additional destination.
It also depends on what is the max/min rate you have defined to reach full per day per diem in each case too, you would need to define hour split to make a domestic trip work with additional destination so you have to maintain in T706V and T706H in a way that with in these 2 intervals, the same amount is calculated as if it would be 1 interval from 00:00 - 24:00.
    Hope this helps

  • Outlook prompts for credentials when used over DirectAccess

Hello; I have recently setup a DirectAccess Server for our network.  The DirectAccess Server is running Windows Server 2012R2. It all appears to be running just fine. The clients are connecting fine and have access to all of our internal network resources,
    including the Exchange Server.
However, when using MS Outlook to connect to the internal Exchange Server, we are seeing a strange behavior.  The Outlook client initially connects just fine.  It says "CONNECTED TO: Microsoft Exchange" down in the status bar, and the
user's mailbox gets updated just fine.  But then, after just a few minutes, MS Outlook will prompt the user for their credentials.  If the user enters their credentials, the pop up goes away, but then comes right back after another minute or two.
As far as I can tell, the DirectAccess connection is stable, as the user has uninterrupted access to our other internal resources.  I've verified the Outlook's connection to the Exchange is using RPC/TCP.
Can anyone shed some light on to what is going on here and how I may resolve this issue?

    Hi,
A simple assumption, would clearing the credentials from Windows Credential Manager work?
    1. Launch the Credential Manager (from [Control Panel] and [User Settings])
    2. In the Generic Credentials section you’ll see a setting for [MS Outlook]. Click the downward-pointing arrow to the right of that value
    3. The section will expand to show further details. Under those details is a link to Remove from vault. Click this and Outlook will no longer have a stored copy of your password
The next time the users need to enter a password, select the option that let Outlook remember the credentials.
    Thanks,

  • Outlook prompting for password after password change

I have a client who has Exchange 2013 and the PCs run Windows 8.1 with Office 2013.
The users just started having the following problem. Their domain passwords are expiring and when they update them with a new one, Outlook starts prompting them for a password when they open it and periodically while Outlook is running. They keep entering
the new password and checking the box to remember it, but the password prompt keeps coming back.
I've checked and the account in Outlook does not have the box checked to always prompt for logon credentials. I did notice that the proxy authentication is set for NTLM so I changed it to Basic, restarted Outlook and there was no password prompt and the
user has not seen one since.
Any idea why having the proxy authentication set to NTLM would cause this after the domain password changed? It has been set to NTLM rather than Basic for years now. Exchange 2013 has been in use there for about 6 months and Office 2013 longer than
that. Windows 8.1 has been on the computers for 3-5 months so I don't think that's it either. I've tried with our domain account we have setup there and with a test user account by changing the password on them but with the proxy authentication set to NTLM
I haven't had the password prompt appear other than once the next time Outlook is opened after the password change, and that is to be expected.
So it's not every user account but a good number of them this is happening with.
    Jonathan

    I have an update.
There must be a GPO or setting in Outlook changing the proxy authentication to NTLM because this morning it was changed back to NTLM from Basic. They all either shut down or restarted their computers since I worked on them Friday.
One user got the password prompt one time when starting Outlook. She entered the password and that was it. But she was unable to connect to a shared calendar. She put her computer to sleep, woke it up, logged in, and then was able to connect to the shared
    calendar. I don't understand that.
Another user could not get the password prompt to go away this morning no matter how often he input his password, and he also was unable to connect to the shared calendar. So I changed the proxy authentication back to Basic again, restarted Outlook (which
is required), got no password prompt, and he was able to connect to the calendar.
I realize the calendar issue is tied to the password issue. What I don't understand is why these people are getting the password prompt ever since they changed their domain password.
I have a test account and test PC set up in a VM and it does not have any of these problems. I've changed its password 3 times but I never get a prompt when opening Outlook and it is set to NTLM.
I hope someone out there has an idea why changing their password now is causing this authentication problem in Outlook.
    Jonathan

to work around  I have putted google DNS "8.8.8.8"on NIC card
Now user is able to access his outlook without any issue .
But I am sure when user will back to office he will face issue again as he his DNS will point to Google.
Publicly Autodiscover is publish on "RADIUS.HCL.com" as example
    Localy                               "Outlook.HCL.com"
    Here is my troubleshooting
So when I do nslookup to RADIUS.HCL.COM
    it give wrong response   radius.HCL.com.ad.hcl.com
Could you please help on this, I heard somebody its known issue with windows 7 . Any body have idea plz help

    Hi,
Before going further, I would like to ask for some information:
Does this issue just occur on one user? If no, please switch to another PC to have a test.
Does Outlook work fine after closing the pop windows?
For troubleshooting, I recommend you to change method of authentication to Negotiate Authentication to have a try:
Open Control Panel, then choose Mail.
Click Email Account and then choose the account.
Click Change and then Click More Settings.
Choose Security tap and change the Logon network security to
    Negotiate Authentication.
Unchecked the box that states Always prompt for login credentials.

  • Outlook prompting for password with new Exchange 2013

I have Exchange 2007 and 2013.  I want to migrate to 2013 but I'm having issues in the testing phase.  I have a test account that I moved the mailbox to the new server.  I have a test PC with a modified hosts file that points to the new Exch
    2013 server IP address.
When I log in with this test user, Outlook appears to connect and download the mailbox.  However a Windows Security dialog box pops up saying Microsoft Outlook Connecting to [email protected] and it has a username and password field.  No matter what
is entered here, it is NOT accepted, nor if forcefully entering the wrong information is the account locked out.
I can click cancel here and it proceeds to update the inbox and then says All folders are up to date.  But at the bottom in Outlook 2013 it says Need password and Outlook's icon in the taskbar has a yellow triangle on it.  I can send myself a test
email and I get it (I personally am on the 2007 server), but after it sends Outlook 2013 prompts again for the password, and since it does not accept anything, I have to click cancel.
I have done ALL the windows updates available on this test PC.  Exchange 2013 is on CU6 which is the latest at the time of this writing.
Another thing is in the Lync 2013 client it says "Exchange needs your credentials".  No matter what is entered here, it will not make this message go away unless you click the X on this warning bar.  Lync itself appears to work regardless.
    Any ideas?
I just changed the ExternalClientAuthenticationMethod from Ntlm to Negotiage.  Now the Outlook prompt does accept the domain password, but I don't want anyone to have to enter any type of credentials just to get on.  Note, this test is on the same
LAN as the servers, so I haven't even tackled an external test yet, though last time I tried it was the same results.

Ok besides LYNC 2013 asking for exchange credentials, I cannot get Outlook to work externally.
Externally to the NEW Exch2013 server, we are trying something different this time around.  Instead of poking port 443 straight to the Exchange server from the outside world, we are trying what we did with LYNC.  We are poking port 443 to an IIS
AAR reverse proxy to it's DMZ interface.  It has another nic on DMZ 2 which allows port 443 to the Exchange 2013 server.
So I can use this with no problem for OWA if using an account on the new 2013 Exchange server.  But if using an account on the old Exchange server, after I click sign in I get "The webpage at https://legacy.domain.com/owa/auth/owaauth.dll might
be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address. ERR_RESPONSE_HEADERS_TRUNCATED.
Then of course Outlook Anywhere does not work.  After I put in my password it sits there trying to connect with nothing.
Here is part of the IIS log on the AAR server.

  • Outlook prompts for password

    Hi
We are in a migration of Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013, so for the moment it is a coexistence.
I migrated 2 mailboxes to Exchange 2013. After the migration, outlook started prompting for a password by starting outlook. Once the password has been entered, outlook works fine. But that happens only if outlook cache mode is active. If I disable cached
mode, outlook starts without prompting for a password.
So I deactivated cached mode, deleted the ost file and again activated cached mode. Now Outlook starts without prompting for a password, even if cached mode is active.
Deleting the ost file for 1 or 2 users is fine, but not if there are 200 more mailboxes to migrate.
I cannot reproduce the behavior with test mailboxes, created after Exchange 2013 has been installed into the organization. All these mailboxes can be migrated without password prompts.
By the way, I found different posts about the authentication settings for outlook anywhere. I found on Exchange 2007 that the ClientAuthenticationmode was Basic, while NTLM on Exchange 2013. So I changed it to NTLM as well. Everything is still working.
I am going to migrate 2 more mailboxes, and I will see tomorrow if the problem still exists.
    Any Suggestion?
    Regards
    Peter

    Hi Peter,
I also found many similar issues had been solved by setting to NTLM for Servers. Outlook will pass the authentication via Windows. It is the solution.
    Thanks

  • Single Outlook mailbox for multiple users on the same PC

    please now see below.
    Thanks

Guys, I think I may have figured a very simple work around, which at first glance appears to be working.
And I can't believe that i'm the only person in the world done this ???
    1. Configure email account/s as normal.
    2. Create a folder in the root of C and name it some thing obvious like "Outlook-Share", and give all PC users full access.
    3. Rename outlooks "Personal Folder", something obvious like "Shared Email", then move the PST file to the "Outlook-Share" folder.
    4. Open outlook and when it moans about not being able to find the .pst, navigate to "Outlook-Share"
    Close Outlook.
    5. Using Office Tools "Save my settings wizzard", save the office settings to the "Outlook-Share" folder.
    6. Log in as the new user, and use the "Save my settings wizzard" to restore office settings to this user profile.
This PC is not yet on the internet, as I'm on a development domain, but i created a mail in User1 profile which is sitting in the outbox waiting to go.
I then logged in as User2, and could see the mail waiting in the outbox. I created another email and sent this to the outbox.
Logged in as User2 and can now see 2 emails in the outbox.

  • Single prompt for multiple reports in a webi doc

I have a webi document with three reports; each three has it's own query.
I want to apply a date prompt one each report; how do I create a prompt that could accept date value only once and apply on all three queries.
I tried to put the date prompt on each query separately and it prompts for all three; means I have to enter same date value three times.
    Please advise.
    Thanks

    Hi Ahmed,
BO differentiate prompts on the basis of its definition.
You must use the same prompt definition in all the three queries to display it once while asking for the user response:
    @Prompt('Text','A'\'D',{'Class\LOV Object'},mono\multi,free\constrained)
P.S.  you need to drag it separately in the 3 queries.

    Rohit
