Outlook pst folder issue

I am currently using Outlook 2007 and found problem with its email managment in folders.  I have kept doing email cleansing regularly but the folder pst is still full and found any deleted and infected emails are still found in the pst folder.
Please advise.

Hi
As per the information and details provided by you, to solve the Outlook pst folder issue, please follow these steps: -
When you delete the unwanted items from each folder, it moves to the
Deleted items folder, which is in the same file. You must delete the items from the Deleted Items folder to permanently delete them so that Outlook can compact the file.
How to manually Start PST Compaction: -
On the
File menu, Click Data File Mangement.
Click to select your
Personal Folder, and then Click Settings.
On the
General tab. Click Compact Now.
Click
OK, and then Click Close.
I hope this information will be helpful for you.
Thanks and regards

  • Outlook 2010 PST Import issue: ".pst is not an Outlook data file (.pst)"

I recently installed the Office 2010 Beta and am attempting to import my old .PST files from Outlook 2007.  However, every time I try it I get the error, ".pst is not an Outlook data file (.pst)".  The two data files are large (2+ GB in size each) but have been working fine with Outlook 2007.  Steps to repro are:
    1.       In Outlook 2010, click the File tab.
    2.       Click Open and then click Open Outlook Data File.
    3.       Navigate to the .pst file to import and then click Ok.
When I click "open Outlook data file" I get the error "the file Outlook.pst is not an outlook data file (.pst).
I've seen at least one other person post this question on another forum...  Any help you can provide would be fantastic as I have a lot of history (obviously ;-) tied up those files.
    Thanks!

  • Syncing iphone with windows 7 contacts - error message outlook.pst not foun

I have set set up ITunes to sync my Iphone GS with Windows Contacts. When I sync I get an error message :
The file c:\Program Files\Common Files\System\Mapi\1033\Outlook.pst could not be found
Sometimes the error message comes up 2 or 3 times.
Secondly, my Iphone is syncing with something because an old version of my windows address book is now on my iphone. Of course if I add a new contact to Windows Contacts, it does not appear on my iphone.
I dont have Outlook installed on my PC. It was removed, but I guess I do have an old outlook.pst file from my old times with Windows XP.
So how does Itunes manage the sync and how can I stop it syncing with my old address book and use Windows Contacts? I have tried resetting my sync history but it did not work.
I am running Windows7 (upgrade from Vista).

I am also having issues with syncing my Iphone 3GS with the latest version on Itunes. I have for a long while now been doing just great. My contacts, phone numbers, emails have all synced very nicely, no problems. As soon as I downloaded the new Itunes 9.1 I can no longer sync contacts, and calendars, as usual.
I tried several things that were suggested to me in the troubleshooting but nothing has helped. It usually tells me that my computer is not set up for syncing, and after arranging that it still doesn't work. As well, it says it cannot find the requested services.
    Please help.
I am running windows 7, and have been for a while, it's not windows 7, it's the new Itunes upgrade.

  • Iphone contacts "not available" to car phonebook after messing around with Outlook.pst file names and backups. Iphone4 connects to car though and other phones connect properly.

iphone contacts "not available" to car phonebook after messing around with Outlook.pst files, names and backups, on my ms XP 2003 laptop. I substituted a much smaller new Personal Folder -Contacts File, with a smaller list of phone numbers (4 only as a test) which successfully synced to the iPhone 4. The iPhone connects to the Skoda Octavia HandsFreeSystem OK (Bluetooth works fine), but now iPhone wont load the new Contacts as it did originally. However a family Nokia (never messed with) can connect properly. So must be the iPhone or more likely an Outlook.pst \ Contacts problem. Ideas?

After fiddling a little more, the following fixed my corrupted outlook.pst file:
    1) I made a backup
    2) In outlook under file, I exported the calendar to excel
    3) In outlook under file, I imported the calendar back to outlook
    And voila, it worked.

  • Can't Change, Add or Remove Outlook Contacts Folder in Desktop Software

I’m using version 7.1.0.41  of the BlackBerry Desktop Software. I recently created a new updated PST file in Outlook 2010. When I looked at the BlackBerry Desktop Software Contacts Configuration by going to Organizer, then  Contacts – Microsoft Outlook: Configure…, Advanced Options: Advanced: Folders, I saw that the Desktop Software had defaulted to the default Contacts folder in my new Outlook profile. This wasn’t the Contacts Folder I had been using with my BlackBerry Curve 9320, so I chose “Select different contacts to sync”, double-clicked on my new Outlook Profile at the Root Level then selected the Contacts Folder I had used previously.
I found I could not use the Green Add button to add this folder and I couldn’t use the Red Remove button to delete the existing Main Contacts file. If I double-clicked on the Contacts folder which I wanted to use, the correct file path showed under “Select different contacts to sync”. However once I clicked OK and then returned to the Advanced Options, I found that it had reverted back to the original default settings.
I did notice that Outlook’s main Contacts file which I don’t want to use has a “Contacts” icon while the contacts Folder I want to use has only a generic folder icon. Under “My Contacts” in Outlook, however, all my Contacts files have the same icon. If I try to sync now, the Desktop Software wants to add all the contacts from my main Contacts group to my BlackBerry, which I don’t want. This all worked just fine before I updated my Outlook PST file.
Thanks for your help with this.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I've now resolved the problem. I had an email folder name "Mobile Contacts" which was causing me to use the wrong path. I needed to open the folder with the Contacts icon to get to the next level down where the Contacts folder I wanted to use was.
I couldn't add, remove or delete the folder I was attempting to use because it was actually an email folder, not a contacts folder.

  • After Install of Office Pro 2013 Plus from downloaded iso file Outlook can't find any outlook.pst

Have just installed  - apparently error-free - Office 2013Pro Plus. Can't open Outlook because it's missing the dataset C:\users\xyz...\documents\outlook-data\OUTLOOK.PST.
There is NO outlook.pst on the entire computer, in other words it seems that the install didn't create any.
An attempted "repair" in System control worked fine, but didn't handle the outlook.pst issue.
Any idea what to do? Many thanks and kind regards
    Happy 2014!

Was this a fresh installation or a re-install / recovery, as on a fresh install there wouldn't already be a .pst configured until you'd done the initial account setup process and configured a mailbox. If it's a fresh install are you sure it's a legitimate
    installation?
When you first start Outlook you should be presented with the account setup wizard, which then configures your first account and creates any required data files for your mailbox.
If that's already been done but isn't working, the simplest thing to try initially is to remove the configured profile(s) from Outlook and then start from fresh. Run "Mail (32-bit)" and on the window that appears click Show Profiles. Remove any and all profiles
listed on that screen, and then click OK. Now open Outlook again and since there's no profiles configured you should be taken to the initial setup wizard where you can configure the mailbox and the relevant files will be created.

  • Outlook 2007 export issue to Outlook 2011 MAC

I am trying to import my email inbox from Windows Outlook 2007 to Mac Outlook 2011.  When trying to create the PST file I get an error message "message interface has returned
an unknown error."  So how do I remedy this so that I can export from PC to Mac?

    Hi Lex,
From the description, you got the error message "message interface has returned an unknown error." when exporting Outlook data to a PST file, correct?
Based on my research, this issue may happen if one of the following two conditions is true:
There is some internal problem with Microsoft Outlook messaging interface.
There is corruption in PST file.
If it's due to Microsoft Outlook messaging interface, this issue should be fixed after restarting Outlook. If it is caused by Outlook PST file corruption, we can try using the Inbox Repair Tool (Scanpst.exe) to scan and repair your PST file. By default,
we can find the Scanpst.exe tool under:
For Outlook 2007 on a 32-bit version of Windows:
    <disk drive>:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12
For Outlook 2007 on a 64-bit version of Windows:
    <disk drive>:\Program Files(x86)\Microsoft Office\Office12
    For more information, see: https://support.microsoft.com/kb/272227
In addition, if your PST file is too large and exceed the maximum size limit, it may also cause PST file corruption. In Outlook 2007, the PST file size limit is 20 GB. Please make sure your PST file doesn't exceed the limit.

  • How to convert lotus notes .nsf to outlook .pst?

    Dear guru,
I'm looking for the way to convert my notes email archive(.nsf) to outlook mail file. I found that there are some commercial 3rd party tool doing this job which is tooooo expensive for me. Is there any good way to convert .nsf to .pst or to move my mail data to outlook for FREE?
I tried a method which uses localhost mail server to send notes mail to outlook locally by IMAP(http://www.benshoemate.com/2007/11/09/how-to-upload-all-your-old-archived-email-to-gmail-from-outlook-lotus-notes-and-unix-pine/) but failed because my company blocked IMAP and POP3 incoming for security reason.
I'm using lotus notes 7.0.2 and Outlook 2007. Does notes connector work for this problem?
    Thx.

If I talk about free lotus notes migration apps then online records are showing that there are no free tools yet for lotus notes archive migration. Microsoft has a connecter suit (free) for same that allows migrating of configured notes database file to
ms outlook. External tools are playing very important role here with perfection and satisfaction.
Among all, Export Notes is a very low cost and feature-rich solution that assures accuracy of migrated data.
It allows all types of nsf (mail database.nsf, archive.nsf, names.nsf) file migration
into ms outlook pst file as well as Exchange Server (business version) even the data is inside All Documents folder or encrypted.

  • Microsoft Outlook 2007 - outlook.pst is not a personal folders file

I don't understand why this error occurred.
This makes me wonder if my backups of my computers are good operational backups.
My computers have been backed up on my network for several years using
    Microsoft Windows Home Server 2011.
I have reloaded Windows 7, Office 2007 and associated programs on one of my computers.
I also restored my outlook data file from WHS 2011 to my documents folder.
After opening Outlook and pointing to my data file, I receive the error below:
    Error message from Outlook 2007:
outlook.pst is not a personal folders file
I have tried Microsoft Fixit and scanpst with no success.
What else can be performed to repair this file?

Thanks again,  I don’t have a problem with paying for the software and or support.  I just want to be assured that the software and or support
will repair my entire outlook.pst file before I pay.  As stated before, I plan to contact Stellar this coming week.  Maybe the message I received was due to not purchasing the product.
I like the idea of purchasing Stellar Software.  I believe it will be useful in the future.  Although I have some questions about the software for other applications.
Thank you for all your responses.  If you should have anything else to share, I would be interested.

  • PDF Maker/Outlook 2007 crashing issue

When using Adobe PDF maker in outlook 2007 it often crashes. Is there a maximum PDF portfolio size that you can archive emails into? It seems once my file hits a certain size I need to begin a new file for the process to run? How can I fix this?

There are some known issues with Acrobat X and Outlook. These issues are as follows (taken from the Known issues documentation):
If Outlook is online with Exchange (cached Exchange Mode OFF), then PDFMaker can only convert 249 mails through selection. All the mails after that are skipped with Status "Unable to open secured message."
You can open messages in Outlook in the same session where PDFMaker conversion through selection had failed.
Folder conversion works fine. PDFMaker successfully converts 10000 mails in an online folder on exchange server.
Tested for Outlook 2007, Outlook 2003, and Outlook XP. Same behavior irrespective of outlook version.
PDFMaker should be able to convert up to 1000 mails through selection with Cached Exchange Mode OFF. [1662502]

  • Does install of iCloud Control Center add another Outlook.pst?

    Outlook 2010 on Windows 7.
After I installed the iCloud Control Center it appears there is another
Outlook.pst file. This one is in 'My Documents'.
    Is this part of iCloud?
    Thanks!

I have the same setup as sceloglaux (Win 7 64 bit Home, iPhone 3GS, Outlook 2010).
I tried a reboot, uninstall, reboot again, disable and close anything I can, then reinstall. Still the same problem.
Athough I'm not sure if I got this message before:
    Outlook Setup Error
Your setup couldn't be started because of an unexpected error.
Clicking the report button brings up my profile dialog box, then I choose my profile and it just goes back to the error dialog. Try again does the same thing.
sceloglaux - it sounds like you got it working. Care to enlighten us on what steps you took?
Do I need to have an me.com e-mail account set up first? I don't want to sync e-mail, just calendar and contacts. I tried setting up e-mail in case that's the missing link, but I'm having trouble with that as well (separate thread, probably server issues).
    Thanks.

  • BT Cloud quarantined my Outlook.pst backup file!

Hi,  Just uploaded my important laptop files to BT Cloud.  It's very important to me to have a backup of my Outlook.pst data file with all emails, calendar details and contacts.  BT Cloud informs me it has a virus (it doesn't), has been moved to quaratine and I should run a vuirus checker (I did. It's not infected) and it should be deleted from my computer (absolutely not).
    Is there anyway I can:
(a): get BT Cloud to tel me how it think's my pst file is infected (i.e. which email subject/date)
(b): enable BT Cloud to remove it from my quarantined files and put it back into my online backup?
    Any other tips?
    Andy

Just to keep this one alive. I have the same problem with outlook.pst being renamed and replaced by BT Cloud, claiming that the file is contaminated, even though BT Netprotect never found it.
As far as I can see, BT Cloud offers the user no control over this aspect. If BT Cloud has detected something, it might at least advise the user what it has found and some clue as to how to remove the offending email(s).
No one has mentiioned a work-around. This is how I reclaimed my .pst file:
Search your main drive for '.pst' - you should find outlook.pst of zero bytes and your original file, renamed as outlook.conflict1.pst (or something very similar), in my case, file size was 860mb.
Delete outlook.pst and rename outlook.conflict1.pst to outlook.pst and restart outlook.
This still leaves the problem of another quarantine action by BT Cloud at the next sync.
How about an official response to this issue - in my case, it looks like I'll have to stop using BT Cloud

  • Outlook contacts synchronization issues

I cannot modify a contact in Outlook which has been created for me by Beehive - I get an 'Oracle Beehive Extensions for Outlook, Synchronization Issue, Updating Contact <name>'.
Beehive automatically created contacts, many of whom no longer work with Oracle (they were external contractors), or that I already had in my contacts. Now I have many contacts I don't want and I can't clean this up, since when I try, the next day they are all back again.
I click on the link in the message and it says the cause is "Cannot move, update or delete a contact that was created automatically for the workspace.".
    - but I don't want any of these contacts.
What can I do? - this getting Kafkaesque.

as far I remember, you need to block / delete thus users from the messenger. This is the reason for sync. (in additonal you will receive all directs and pre-set user from the messenger automatically in outlook).
I use an iPhone. what worked for me:
    - Killing the messenger,
    - creating a Outlook sub-folder in contacts ("iPhone").
    - Moved all my valuable contacts from a backup into this folder new folder.
    - set- iTunes to sync with the contacts sub-folder "iPhone"
no more interference of the auto created users from beehive!
This will not work on Blackberries and iPhone that use notifylink! In notifylink the sync folders are pre-set and cannot be modified by the user.
With Rel 2, it is expected that you may make modifications to the auto created users. Wait till Rel 2 (which is expected to be rolled out sometime this calendar year).
    Hope this helps, Daniel

Is there a way to get an apple mail folder exported to outlook mail folder structure?  I'm using Gmail on my IMAC and have a PC for work.  Want to share folder structure between systems.

Use following steps to import apple mail to outlook:
Choose Mailbox->Export Mailbox, or choose Export Mailbox from the Action pop-up menu
Choose a folder or create a new folder where you want to store the exported mailbox.
Outlook for Mac: Choose File->Import Mailboxes. Select the mail application you want to import messages from.
If it does not work then you should use third party apple mail to pst applications. You can easily search in Google about these applications.
