Outlook recurring meeting requests
Hi Gurus,
I have a requirement to send recurring meeting request which will be spanning between a start date and end date at a specific time. Are there any inputs in this regard? Ideally require it not to have a response as mandatory, but just to block the timings on the Outlook calendar. Any inputs? Much appreciate.
I am looking at a purely PL/SQL solution. I have seen the below link. But this needs to be enhanced to make it a recurring request..
Any interest in sending emails as Outlook appt. request???
Thanks,
AHA
Hello,
I am trying to send recurring outlook meeting requests from pl/sql. A way to send normal outlook meeting requests from pl/sql is explained in below link.
Any interest in sending emails as Outlook appt. request???
But my requirement is to send RECURRING meeting requests. I was checking if there is a way to do this by modifying the code in the above link.
Thanks,

Cannot create a Sharepoint meeting workspace in a Outlook 2010 meeting request
I am using Sharepoint 2010 and Outlook 2010. I am trying to create a meeting request and also create a sharepoint workspace attach to that meeting request in Outlook.
First I click Create button and then it would let me choose a location for the workspace server in a drop-down box. I chose "other...". After I input my sharepoint site URL in the Workspace Server, Outlook does not recognize the address and a windows
popup saying "The operation could not be completed because of a problem found on the server or the server could not be found."
I checked the thread below and it doesn't solve my problem at all.
There is no reason why this should not be working. I also created a meeting workspace in sharepoint, and can't even link it to an outlook meeting request when pasting the direct link from the browser.
Did Microsoft break this and forget (or not care) to tell anyone?

I found a similar thread and someone posted a solution:
http://community.office365.com/en-us/f/154/t/735.aspx
I've quoted the solution and you can try if this fits your scenario:
The issue with Outlook not being able to find a Meeting Workspace is usually due to authentication not being passed correctly. Adding Trusted Sites information to Internet Explorer lets the browser know to allow the authentication to pass.
Open Internet Explorer
Go to: Internet Options -> Security -> Local Intranet -> Sites -> Advanced
Add: *.sharepoint.com , *.microsoftonline.com , *.lync.com , *.outlook.com
Click Save
Then go to Internet Options -> Security -> Trusted Sites -> Sites
Add: https://*.sharepoint.com ,
https://*.microsoftonline.com ,
https://*.lync.com ,
https://*.outlook.com
Click Save
Close Internet Explorer
Open Internet Explorer
Goto login.microsoftonline.com and sign in, make sure "keep me signed in" is checked.
Go back to outlook and the meeting workspace button will work now.
Note Since you are using Sharepoint 2010, in the example above it's SharePoint Online, the URL you need to add is your own SharePoint Site URL. Also login your own page as you should not be using login.microsoftonline.com.

Sending 'Outlook Appointment/Meeting Request' Emails
Is there a way to send an email as a 'Outllook Appointment' from BPM. I've been able to send plain text emails without any problems. Thanks
Same problem here, after the 3.0.1 update though i cant confirm its not just 3.0 in general. no fix other than to roll back to 2.1

Cannot seem to handle Outlook 2007 Meeting requests in downloaded email. Is there an App than can do this or handle .ics information? QuickOffice already loaded.
No. Meeting invitations can only be 'handled' on the iPhone with an MS Exchange account on the phone. The mail app doesn't support .ics attachments (Exchange invites are dealt with in the Calendar app).

Can't open meeting requests sent to iPhone from MS Outlook
Mobile Me pushes email from my PC-based MS Outlook 2007 to my iPhone. Emails arrive with no problem, including all attachments...apart from Outlook Calendar meeting requests.
These arrive as an email with an attachment that reads "mime-attachment.ics". I can't do anything with this attachment, i.e. read date, time, place of appointment, or respond to it (accept, reject), or insert it into the calendar on the iPhone.
The only way to access the meeting request is to read it on my PC, respond to it and transfer it to iPhone via a normal synch using the USB.
Any help gratefully received.I know exactly what problem you're having. It's not a syncing issue. This is a recognized and reported issue. Any Microsoft Outlook Calendar invitation comes into your IPhone as an email with the .ics file attached to update your calender. The IPhone operating system does not recognize nor have any instructions as to what to do with a .ics file. When I discovered this a couple months ago, I researched and found out it has been reported to Apple. Some have speculated that the issue might be addressed in Release 3.0 but I haven't heard.
This is a significant issue for those of us who use the IPhone for business. From a novice's standpoint, it doesn't seem like it would be difficult to put in a few lines of code to recognize and then write the entry to the calendar. But then seems like Apple doesn't seem like it's a priority.
Hope Apple is monitoring this forum. This is my first post. -
Meeting request not showing up in outlook
Outlook 2010 - meeting request received, is not showing up in Outlook inbox. The new mail icon blinks briefly and the meeting dissapears, it does appear as tentative in the calendar, however does not give an option to accept/decline.
OWA works fine, and the meeting request also shows up fine in BB.
No rules in outlook that affects this either.
Does anyone have any ideas on this?
Update:
tried outlook /cleanreminders - didn't help.
Other reminders works, like the meeting & task reminders, just the initial meeting acceptance pop up is missing.
The meeting can be accepted / declined by going into the calendar where the meeting shows up as tentative (as expected).
This behaviour is on multiple machines (home/work) both exhibiting the same behaviour.
Thanks
ShahHi
Is this user responsible for the resource?
Check Tools/Options/Preferences/Calendar Options/Resource Scheduling to see if it is set to automatically accept.
Can you find metting request in delete item folder?
Can you delete user account on blackberry and run office again?

Pick from multiple rooms, when creating recurring meeting
Say I have a recurring Tuesday 10-11AM meeting I want to book in Outlook for the next year. I would like to book it in the room "Shasta", because it has the best teleconference equipment, but it's not a deal-breaker if I have to
be in anther conference room..
But it turns out that next month on August 18th, Susan has already booked Shasta in the same timeslot, causing a resource conflict with "Shasta. Even if this is the only conflict, my entire meeting series gets declined.
My options at this point are grim. I can partition my recurring meeting into a pre-August 18th partition, and a post-August 18th partition, with a third single instance on August 18th in some room other than Shasta. My attendees have
to suffer 3 invites. There are also some other really painful things i can do to book the meeting, such as manually booking each of the 52 instances etc.
Bottom line is, I shouldn't have to spend 1-2 hours booking a meeting, and confusing my attendees with a half-dozen Meeting Update notifications due to room changes.
Is there an after-market utility or some trick I can use to say:
"Book a recurring weekly Tuesday meeting from 10-11AM, 52 instances. My first room choice is Shasta, my second room choice is Alps, third room choice is Morgue, fourth room choice is Eiger."
And it will figure out the rooms for me?
Thanks very much for your time.
-Jeff
ps: For now, don't worry about platform or version of Outlook. I'm open to all ppossibilities I use Outlook for Mac. It's lacking in feature parity,
much like Office for Mac, so I book my meetings and organize distro lists through Outlook Web Access, and I also have a VMWare instance of Windows running for when I need some functionality that is only available in the Windows version of Outlook.Hi Jeff,
In Outlook side, if there are any conflicts in your recurring meeting, we can pick out the conflicts then open just this one instance of recurring meeting, change the location to another room, and send updates to all attendees.
After changing locations for all conflicts meeting one by one and the changed rooms also have accepted all updates, the organizer can open the entire series of recurring meeting in Calendar and send updates to all attendees without change anything. Now,
there should be no conflicts and the recurring meeting should be accepted by the room mailbox.
Additionally, this scenario which the behavior of the
Resource Booking Attendant may seem confusing when it comes to processing a recurring meeting request where individual recurrences conflict with existing calendar items can be managed by calendar processing settings in Exchange server side. The Exchange
administrator can use
Set-CalendarProcessing in Exchange 2010 to allow recurring meeting conflicts and set Max conflict instances. For more information about it, please refer to:

Exchange/Outlook reccuring meeting single conflicts handling
Hello,
we run Exchange 2010 SP3 and mainly Outlook 2010.
On Exchange we have some shared resources, e.g. meeting rooms.
These rooms can be booked, obvoiusly, as ressource for meetings within outlook appointements.
But there is an issue when one tries to book such a room for a reccurent meeting and at one of the planned dates the room is already booked. We do not allow conflicting meeting requests on these ressources. So, in additon if I want to book room1 for Mo - Fri
from 10am - 11am and this room is arleady booked on Wednesday 10 - 11 my whole ressource booking request fails, resp. is rejected. So, I canot book this room on Mo, Tu, Th and Fri but not on We. Is this by design or is there a chance to sort this issue out
by some triggers, settings?
If I only book the room for one week, this might be possible to be handled manaully, but what if I want to book the room for the whole next year every Monday? I cnanot overview what happens to this room over the whole year period.
kind regards,
DieterThe key lies in configure the settings for ConflictPercentageAllowed and
MaximumConflictInstances. The below blog post describes this very well.
Automatic Processing of Recurring Meeting Requests with Conflicting Instances

Recurring meeting having issue
Hi All,
am having a strange issue, where i have booked a recurring meeting on every Thursday from 10 am to 11:30am and its shows active.
other user's still able to book the meeting room on the same time and for them the room shows as available.
any help would really appreciate to resolve this issue.
sriniHi Srini,
Please run the following command to check the calendar processing for this room mailbox:
Get-CalendarProcessing room1 | fl
If you don’t allow any conflicts for this room mailbox, please notice the following parameters:
AllowConflicts parameter which specifies whether to allow conflicting meeting requests. Please make sure it is set to $False.
ConflictPercentageAllowed parameter which specifies the maximum percentage of meeting conflicts for new recurring meeting requests. Please set it to 0 which indicates that no conflicts are permitted for new recurring meeting requests.
MaximumConflictInstances parameter which specifies the maximum number of conflicts for new recurring meeting requests when the
AllowRecurringMeetings parameter is set to $true. It should also be set to 0.

How did you open the .ics file in Outlook?
What error message did you get when you try to open the .ics file?
We can try File > Open > Open Calendar...
Or we can try to import the .ics file into your calendar, see:

Recurring meeting in Outlook 2011 calendar but NOT on Exchange server (OWA) or iPhone
Macbook Pro w/Outlook 2011. User has one (of many) recurring meetings he accepted (a weekly meeting) and it shows fine in his Outlook calendar
(setup for Exchange).
This one recurring meeting does NOT show up on the users' iPhone or in OWA (meaning it is not on the Exchange server).
How can I get this one recurring meeting to sync (or at least get moved) to his calendar on the Exchange server so it can sync to his iPhone?
Asking the person who originated the meeting to re-invite is not an option.
Thank you.Are there any sync issues logged on the client? You may want to turn on logging (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj984217(v=office.14).aspx) and see of there
are any communication issues. If you believe this to be a corruption in the Outlook 2011 DB, you may have to rebuild it (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2360509/en-us).
Anyways, I would have them look for the original meeting request in their mailbox via OWA. It might have been accepted and moved to deleted items, but the original meeting request should be there unless it was too long ago. If it is found, accept it
in OWA (no reply). Then look for sync-issues to the Mac client.
If you cannot do the above, check out
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2547327/en-us and see if that process changes your behavior.
Hopefully that helps! -
This is frustrating and seems to be a known issue. Regular calendar items work fine but any meeting invitations sent to and accepted on PC running Outlook 2010 with iCloud add in only show up on default (local) calendar. Must add them manually. Also meeting requests sent from same PC configuration are being hijacked by iCal/iCloud feature and prompt the receiver to accept through iCloud interface rather than a regular Outlook email invite, though those meeting do show up on end user's Outlook calendar. And meeting requests sent to a group gives an STMP error. Is there an update or newer version that fixes any of these issues? I turned off MobileMe add in but doesn't help. We use iCloud and like it because we need the calendar and contact features to sync between the PC and iPhone and iPad, which works fine.
Outlook will not allow a subscribed calendar to be the default, unless it is an Exchange calendar. You can't change this behaviour unfortunately.

Not able to create meeting request in outlook using desktop connection
Hi All,
We installed the desktop connect professional edition and integrated MS outlook and CRM business activity.
Our goal is to trigger an outlook meeting request (not an outlook appointment).
We tried to configure this by creating a CRM business activity and syncing with outlook but does not seem to work.
We are able to create an outlook appointment but not a meeting request.
What we envision is the business activity needs to trigger a accept/reject/ reschedule meeting request functionality. Only when the user accepts the meeting request it should sync the outlook calendar / SAP calendar.
Is this functionality available out-of-box or does it need enhancements to the interface ?

S.BalajiHi All,

Sending a mail to Outlook as a Meeting Request

I have a weird request I have never thought I would get. I have a VIP user that wants to receive no calendar invites / meeting invites from:
- anyone outside of our organization (ie: from the internet)
- only certain users from INSIDE our organization
Can I accomplish this either though a transport rule and/or an Outlook rule? I am on Exchange 2007 currently, and Outlook 2007 currently. Soon to have both on 2013 versions, migrating soon, but if possible, I need to implement this in our current environment.
Thanks in advanceHello,
Based on your description, I understand that the VIP user don't want to receive meeting requests from anyone outside of your organization and certain users from inside your organization. If so, we can't create transport rule in exchange 2007.
I recommend you upgrade your exchange server 2007 to exchange 2013. If you use exchange 2013, you can create this transport rule like : under condition, the sender is this person (distribution
group, you can add certain users from inside your organization to a distribution group) ; the recipient is this person (the VIP user);
the message properties include the message type(Calendaring); under actions, block the message reject the message and include an explanation/ reject the message with the enhanced status code of /delete the message without notifying anyone.
You need to create the second transport rule: you only need to change the first condition: the sender is located outside the organization, and other conditions and actions are the same as the first transport rule.
