Outlook Search issue

Exchange 2013, Outlook 2013, Windows 8.1, online-mode
One user can't do outlook search for mail items after migration into 2013, that's not shown in the list
Index contents on DB which stores the mailbox is healthy. Other users are ok.
What should I check the user's mailbox or the DB...

Hello,
Yes, it’s possible. If the issue occurs on random users, you need to firstly fix the performance issue. Can you list the problematic processes here and also check the application
log and paste the relevant error message.
Thanks,

  • Outlook Search Feature

Might have been asked before but here goes. We have windows 7 sessions running on terminal service sessions using Outlook 2010 and exchange 2010 - this might be an a known issue but the search option will not search pst's users might have configured?
Using the advanced find - Ctrl-shift-F does however work? - Is this a known issue? Playing with the indexing and user profiles appears to have no effect. Plus the search all and sub folders also has no effect.
Any help appreciated Gary H Devon

    Hi Gary,
Using an Exchange account in Outlook, normally, you should have .ost file as your data file. Could you please let me know what you mean by "will not search pst's users might have configured"?
Also, how many clients are affected by this? Are you in Cached Exchange Mode or Online Mode?
"Playing with the indexing and user profiles appears to have no effect" - I'm not quite sure what exactly you've tried, generally, to troubleshoot instant search issues, you can follow below steps:
Check if the pst-file or mailbox has been marked to be indexed: File-> Options-> section Search-> button Indexing Options…-> button Modify-> expand Microsoft Outlook
Disable and then re-enable the file for indexing
    Rebuild the index
    Check for pst-file corruptions with
    scanpst.exe tool.
Reinstall the Windows Search feature. If you are in Cached Exchange Mode, the instant search feature actually uses Windows Search feature. If it got damaged, you'll have search issues in Outlook.
Please try any steps that you haven't tried before in the list, and feel free to post back with any findings.

It's recommended to download and install
Configuration Analyzer Tool (OffCAT), which is developed by Microsoft Support teams. Once the tool is installed, you can run it at any time to scan for hundreds of known issues in Office

    - OS is up to date.
    - deleted and recreated Search Service Application
    - The service account does have access to the search databases
    - one account is used, domain\sp2013search, has all necessary permissions
Please help to fix the search issue.

    Hi Raj0639,
According to your description, my understanding is that you got an error when you run SharePoint 2013 Search.
Firstly, please make sure that all servers are online, and connecting to others.
Please stop all search services on Manage services on server, then restart them. Please try to do as Amit said, compare the result.
If this issue still exists, please repair SharePoint 2013 under Control Panel, then compare the result.

  • Does the 10.5.7 update address command+f finder search issues?

Does the 10.5.7 update address command+f finder search issues?
Search has been horrible under 10.5 in that it does not reliably find FOLDERS on network drives, only file names.
Even when I am looking directly at a folder and I search for it will not appear in the command+f window.
Also the stupidity of not allowing a specific search location.
Has this been addressed? I have, at any given time, 3-4 mounted servers.
I do not have a choice now to search a specific hard drive.
10.4.11 gave me the option under "OTHERS" to select a specific place to search.
The only choice I have in 10.5.2 is "SHARED". Which searches all drives when I only want to search one. Nor do I have a choice of searching just one of my two internal drives.
I talked with Chris in apple engineering several months ago, who acknowledged that search problems are a known issue under 10.5 and this was being addressed but have not heard any more. I don't want to download an update unless these broken search issues have been fixed. This is a production machine and I cannot have downtime in the Dept.

Have you filed a bug report or enhancement request with Apple?

  • Search issue with plurals?

    RH9, webhelp, merged project.
Just reported to me and I can confirm: There seems to be a content search issue where the singular works, but not the plural, even if the plural is what we use. Specific example: Enhancement vs. Enhancements. We have several topics that are labeled or refer to "Enhancements", but searching with that term finds nothing, while using "Enhancement" finds those terms.
"Ticket" vs "Tickets" results in a similar issue. The behavior appears to be that the singular form can find either version - singular or plural - but plural search terms result in no matches at all.
Any ideas what may be causing this?

Are you testing on the published help or the generated help. The latter is rebuilt every time.
Try in one of the sample projects. Click Open on the RoboHelp Starter page and then click Samples in the ribbon on the left.
If that works, try downloading the demo merged help from my site and generate from that. Test that works.
Post back with the results at that point.

  • Exchange 2010 Outlook search can not find messages older than 1 year

    Hello,
I have an exchange 2010 sp2 server. One of my users complains that Outlook search can not find any message older than 1 year. He have all his 5 year mails in the mailbox, but looks like search engine cant recognise them :(
    Any thoughts? thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Please verify that indexing is complete in Outlook:
    1. In Outlook, click in the Search box.
    2. Click the Search tab, click Search Tools, and then click Indexing Status.
    3. When the Indexing Status dialog appears, you should see the following:
Outlook has finished indexing all of your items.
0 items remaining to be indexed.
Besides, please use the Search-Mailbox cmdlet to check if you can get messages older than one year in this user mailbox.
    Best regards,

  • Lync 2013 Outlook Integration Issues

I have a client that is having Exchange Outlook Integration issues when trying to set up Lync 2013.
The email address is [email protected] The sip address is
[email protected] But the Lync server is lync.domain.local. Client is on Exchange 2010.
The address book is not downloading and the outlook integration issue error icon appears on the bottom right.
If the client is set manually to [email protected] the address book downloads.
But can Lync work in the long run set up like this?

    Hi,
Did you solve the issue with the help of Andrew provided?
Which sip domain name did you use for default SIP domain ([email protected] or
    [email protected])?
Did the issue happen internal or external?
For the issue of cannot download address book, please check the External Base URL on Lync topology with the help of the link below:

    Hi,
Is this an Outlook crash issue?
We may suspect there’s a 3rd-party add-ins that may be the possible reason, let's troubleshoot this from running Outlook in Safe Mode, to determine if it is 3rd-party add-ins related.
Press Win + R and type “outlook.exe /safe” in the blank box, then press Enter.
If there’s no problem in Safe Mode, disable the suspicious add-ins to verify which add-ins caused this issue.
We can also perform a clean boot to determine if background programs are interfering with Outlook:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135#appliesto
The ntdll.dll file is a file created by Microsoft that has a description of "NT Layer DLL" and is the file that contains NT kernel functions.
You may try to copy this file from a well worked machine and replace the old one to test if this helps.

  • Search issue with Outlook 2010 SP2 in Online mode

We are dealing with a weird issue that started after a routine maintenance window this past week.  We took our Exchange 2010 server down while we performed maintenance on our SANs.  After bring the servers back up we have developed an issue in
Outlook with searching.  When a user searches for emails only those that are before the outage are returned in the resultant set even if an email from after the outage matches the search.  However, if you search from OWA all the expected results
are returned.  Please remember that we are in Online mode with Outlook and not cached mode.
I can say that I have checked Exchange and it appears that all indexes are fine and the fact that OWA returns the correct result would prove that.
One other thing to note.  If you do an Advanced Find in Outlook and select frequently-used text fields it give weird search results, but it will include the emails from this week.
What am I missing?  I can't think of anything else to look for.

    Hi,
Based on my knowledge, when Outlook is in Online Mode, the search is based on the Exchange Search Service. Although the search works on OWA, I still suggest you try re-indexing on Exchange Server to check the result.
Moreover, there are some steps we can perform to narrow down this issue:
    1. Switch to Cached Exchange Mode, then the Index is based on the local computer, check if then the issue persists. If the issue persists, we can say it's not about the index, maybe something else stops Outlook from searching properly, such as an add-in.
Also, it can be a workaround if it works in Cached Mode.
    2. Create a new Outlook Profile to setup the account, check if the problem persists. Please do not remove the previous profile as this is just a test, I want to know if the problem persists with a new profile.
Please feel free to post back with more details.

  • Outlook 2013 shared mailbox indexing and search issue

I have 2 Outlook 2013 clients running in Cached Mode, with Download Shared Folders checked and a delegated mailbox opened via the Account Settings Advanced tab. Both clients are accessing the same delegated mailbox. According to this article (http://blogs.technet.com/b/outlooking/archive/2014/04/28/understanding-search-scopes-in-microsoft-outlook.aspx),
they should be able to search the Current Folder via WDS, but in both cases, changing the Search Scope to Current Folder causes Outlook to hang for 10-20 minutes.
This makes searching the delegate mailbox completely unworkable, which is a problem for the 2 P.A.s concerned, as they spend a lot of the day searching for correspondence.
I have tried rebuilding the search index, with no change in the search behavior. It seems that WDS is not indexing the cached delegate mailbox - how can I correct this?
    Thanks
    Patrick

    Hello,
Please try to add the following registry key and then restart Outlook to check the issue again:
Note: Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. For added protection,
back up the registrybefore you modify it.
Registry data to index shared mailboxes:
    Key: HKLM\software\policies\Microsoft\windows\windows search
    DWORD: EnableIndexingDelegateMailboxes
    Value: 1
Please let me know the result.

  • Outlook Search (Online Mode) Intermittent Issue

I'm having an odd issue with search not working intermittently from Outlook 2010 clients in Citrix. Details below:
    Issue:
Search from Outlook (online mode) just sits searching, returning no results. Waiting up to 15 minutes still returns nothing. When issue occurs (once every two weeks for one user) I can run Test-ExchangeSearch -Identity '[email protected]' which shows nothing
as being wrong. No EventID's are written to the Exchange servers or Citrix servers. If you cancel the search and try again in 15 minutes more often than not it starts working as normal again, even with the same search string.
I tried 'Troubleshooting Content Indexer' (found here http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2011/01/18/3411844.aspx) which returned no problems.
I'm kind of stuck with this one.
    David Robertson

    Hi David,
It seems that the issue happens occasionally and intermittently. It can’t be reproduced for a long time. Since all services test in Exchange side is ok and the Indexer is also configured correctly, I suspect the issue may be caused by any network issue or
short connection disturb between Outlook Online with Exchange.
I suggest we can enable Cached mode in Outlook as a workaround. If the issue happens again, welcome you to update this issue here:)
