Outlook Web Access will only log in as Light Version

My office has been using Microsoft Exchange Outlook Web Access for longer than a year at least. We have been using the full version.  We have a desktop operating Windows 7 with the most updated IE browser, and my computer a Windows 8 laptop with the
most updated IE browser. My lap top is where the problem is. As of about two days ago the OWA is only logging in as the Light version. There is an option on the log in screen that says "Use Outlook Web Access Light" and the box is checked and grayed
out so that I can not uncheck it. I did not check this myself it just happened. Also the setting for blind and vision impaired users is not checked off in the accessibility tab under options. I have checked the Windows 7 desktop and it is functioning
normally.  It allows the user to check or uncheck the "use outlook web access light" at will and does not get stuck in Light version.  Also please note that this is the same email address for both computers not multiple users
where one works and one doesn't.  I am charged to monitor the email in our office and do it from the laptop but there is access to it on the desktop if the other employee needs access.  I have also seen forums where they say to
change the server to say OWAPremiumClientEnabled. I do not know how to do this.  If this is a possible solution please give me steps on how to access the server which i don't even know if i am connected to.

What kind of help do you need?
If Outlook Web App opens just in a light version, you have to update your Exchange Server to resolve this issue.
Also you can temporarily add the URL/Domain to the Compatibility List as said Martina_Miskovic.

After updating to ios 7, I am now asked to enter my password continuously when accessing my emails on outlook web access. Before I just had to log in and I was able to reply, save emails, etc without re entering my password. How do I fix this?

Similar thing is happening to a relative.
He upgraded his iPhone 5 and lost his iCloud account and all his email accounts. Major pain in the neck for a senior. And it was not a user error...unless you count the fact that he hit the upgrade button.

  • Solution to problems loging in to Outlook Web Access (solution here)

Hey all, i had to share. From what I've read a lot of people, including me are having problems loging into their Outlook Web Access pages. Just like many, mine would connect, ask for my login/pass and then just sit there trying to load the page. Here's the solution:
    Instead of going to: email.companyname.com/exchange
    point iPhone Safari to: email.companyname.com/oma
I think that's a cell phone, low bandwith/txt only version, which still lets you access all the info that the usual OWA lets you access.
But the extra tip is, that if after going to the "oma" site, you point Safari to the "/exchange" site--for some reason it will work.
    Hope this helps everyone.

We found this was the solution as well. Its strange but it works.
Once you get logged into OMA (text only version) then it goes into OWA (graphical version) without any problems.
    Great find.

  • Cannot view OWA email - after upgrade to Firefox 5.0, Outlook Web Access displays ASCII characters (garbage) in message body. Same issue with multiple servers.

Email body of HTML or RTF messages are rendered in ASCII characters after upgrading to Firefox 5 when viewing email in MS Outlook Web Access (OWA) light from MS Exchange 2007 servers. Issue is repeatable with two entirely different Exchange systems.
Text email renders OK. Work around is to forward email (in use MS-IE).

You are welcome. I'm glad you got it back up.
    (1) You say you did the symbolic link. I will assume this is set correctly; it's very important that it is.
    (2) I don't know what you mean by "Been feeding the [email protected] for several weeks now, 700 emails each day at least." After the initial training period, SpamAssassin doesn't learn from mail it has already processed correctly. At this point, you only need to teach SpamAssassin when it is wrong. [email protected] should only be getting spam that is being passed as clean. Likewise, [email protected] should only be getting legitimate mail that is being flagged as junk. You are redirecting mail to both [email protected] and [email protected] ... right? SpamAssassin needs both.
    (3) Next, as I said before, you need to implement those "Frontline spam defense for Mac OS X Server." Once you have that done and issue "postfix reload" you can look at your SMTP log in Server Admin and watch as Postfix blocks one piece of junk mail after another. It's kind of cool.
    (4) Add some SARE rules:
Visit http://www.rulesemporium.com/rules.htm and download the following rules:
    70sareadult.cf
    70saregenlsubj0.cf
    70sareheader0.cf
    70sarehtml0.cf
    70sareobfu0.cf
    70sareoem.cf
    70sarespoof.cf
    70sarestocks.cf
    70sareunsub.cf
    72sare_redirectpost
Visit http://www.rulesemporium.com/other-rules.htm and download the following rules:
    backhair.cf
    bogus-virus-warnings.cf
    chickenpox.cf
    weeds.cf
    Copy these rules to /etc/mail/spamassassin/
Then stop and restart mail services.
There are other things you can do, and you'll find differing opinions about such things. In general, I think implementing the "Frontline spam defense for Mac OS X Server" and adding the SARE rules will help a lot. Good luck!

  • Outlook Web Access not working in Safari or any other browse

When I try to access OWA from ANY browser, Safari, IE, or Firefox, I get the same error.
"You could not be logged on to Outlook Web Access. Make sure your User Name and Password are correct, and then try again."
When I log in from my PC, I don't have this problem.
The IT guys at work claim that they won't support Mac problems. Typical....
    Any thoughts?

Don't know if this will help, but are you providing the correct credentials via Safari? When you use IE, you are presented with a dialog box that asks for userid, password, and domain name. Safari and other browsers will only ask for the userid and password. Consequently, when using these browsers, you need to preface your userid with the domain name followed by a backslash. For example:
    mydomain\jsmith
While Safari works with OWA, it has an annoying habit of requesting the username and password frequently as you navigate through OWA. I also find that I occasionally have to to click twice on a button to get Safari to activate a command such as reading a message or the Send button. I now use Camino for OWA access. It's cleaner and faster.

  • Safari 4.0.3 problems with MS Outlook Web Access

I am constantly prompted for my password in MS Outlook Web Access since I upgraded to 4.0.3. This was a minimal problem previously; each time I logged in I would have to enter my password a few times and then be done with it. Now, almost any time I click on ANYTHING I am prompted for my password. Checking the box for 'Remember this password in my keychain' has never had any affect. I'm rather computer illiterate, but I'm willing to try any suggestions! Thanks!

I have a feeling it's a problem with Apple's javascript. I've also posted a thread here showing that it doesn't work properly with javascript if multiple tabs are open.
This wouldn't be a "fix"... but it might be worth a try to close all other tabs and see if it works when only one tab is open & then try it again with multiple tabs open and see if that breaks it.
At least then we'll know we've got a pattern here similar to my issue. I have a feeling the only way this'll get fixed is if Apple gets a head's up and fixes it themselves in Safari.

  • ACS 5.1 with Outlook Web Access

    Hi Everyone,
I have a weird issue which i am troubleshooting. I just wanted to see if anyone had a different view on this.....
I have an AD User, lets call them work\auser and there password just expired, so next logon to the domain they need to change there password.
They decide while at home to connect to Outlook Web Access, which authenticates to via ACS 5.1 to AD, when they try and connect they are denied with the following message in ACS -
24407 User authentication against Active Directory failed since user is required to change his password
    :                                                        Authentication failed
ACS also says this as resolution -
Check the password expiry under Account options in the properties of an  external database user. If the password is expired and the Enable Change  Password is turned on in the Users and Identity Stores: External  Identity Stores > Active Directory page, then the password will be  changed.
Now, our OWA is not configured to allow password resets, so they must call in to have there password reset, or they can connect via VPN and our ASA allows them to change there password as configured under Identity Stores > Active Directory > Enable Password Change
This VPN password change is successful although OWA still will not work. The only way to fix it is to select passwsord does not expire within AD. Let it replicate, then de-select password does not expire and let it replicate.
This is pointing to a OWA issue in my opinion, although ACS is somehow involved, is it possible that ACS caches authentication, or because OWA does not allow password resets, it keeps responding with user required to change his password?
Any thoughts or different ways to look at this from a troubleshooting perspective would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks

The following is the procedure I am familiar with:
    Resetting the Administrator Password
If you are not able to log in to the system due to loss of administrator password, you can use the ACS 5.1 Recovery DVD to reset the administrator password.
    To reset the administrator password:
Step 1 Power up the appliance.
Step 2 Insert the ACS 5.1 Recovery DVD.
    The console displays:
Welcome to Cisco Secure ACS 5.1 Recovery - CSACS 1121
To boot from hard disk press
    Available boot options:
    [1] Cisco Secure ACS 5.1 Installation (Keyboard/Monitor)
[2] Cisco Secure ACS 5.1 Installation (Serial Console)
    [3] Reset Administrator Password (Keyboard/Monitor)
[4] Reset Administrator Password (Serial Console)
    Boot from hard disk
Please enter boot option and press .
    boot:
Step 3 To reset the administrator password, at the system prompt, enter 3 if you are using a keyboard and video monitor, or enter 4 if you are using a serial console port.

  • Can no longer connect to a Microsoft Outlook Web Access site

    Hi,
    I hope you can help.
I used to be able to access a Microsoft Outlook Web Access site. However recently I am unable to do so. It has a self signed certificate, which I used to choose to accept, and then the browser waits and waits and waits.
I have tried Safari, Firefox, Camino, Flock, Opera, even Internet Explorer. They all behave the same way.
I am not sure when it stopped working. I only log on infrequently. So I do not know if it stopped working after a security update or an OS upgrade.
My Mac is up to date with software updates. I have performed the usual things, repaired permissions etc.
The funny thing is I can connect using Netscape Comunicator under Classic. I have also borrowed a friend's MacBook running leopard, and that works too.
I am wondering if a setting somewhere has become corrputed or inadvertently set incorrectly.
    Thank you in anticipation.
    Ted

    Hi Bryan,
    Thanks for your input.
Unfortunately I cannot get any of the OS X browsers I have tried to get beyond the accepting the site's certificate. All just stall waiting on the Outlook Web Access site. Safari 3.1, Camino, Flock, Firefox (2.0.0.12 and 3 beta 4), Netscape (7.1 and 9), Microsoft's Internet Explorer (thinking that might be more integrated with its Outlook Web Access package).
I have even deleted the certificates from my Keychain (for Safari) or within the other browsers' preferences.
Last night I even re-applied the 10.4.11 combo updater and then checked for software updates to confirm my system was up to date, but again without success when attempting to reach the Outlook Web Access site.
    Thanks anyway.
    Ted

  • Is there a Firefox plug-in for Outlook Web Access?

I want to access all of Outlook's functions but can't through Firefox, only through Explorer.
In Outlook Web Access through Firefox, I don't have access to menu options for italics, bold, underlining, etc., and I can't view the list of emails on one side while viewing the email content of one email on the other side. The place to access folders like the sent box is different, too, through Firefox. It's a very downgraded version of Outlook Web Access. How can I get the better version of Outlook Web Access while still keeping Firefox as my browser? Is there a plug-in? If not, can Firefox fix this issue with its browser?

Firefox 3.03 - why such an old version? 3.6.12 is the most recent release.
It is up to Microsoft to fix Outlook Web Access to work with Firefox or to come up with a plugin for Firefox. If Mozilla was to start fixing or write plugins for all the software out there that is made to work with Internet Explorer and not any other browser, they wouldn't have time to work on Firefox.
There are two Firefox extensions that will open IE in a Firefox tab. Many users install one of these addons to get around problems like you are having with Outlook Web Access.

  • Outlook Web Access Light and Attachments

Hi - my company makes email available by MS webmail as well as outlook clients on PCs - when i travel with my own Mac i accesss the webmail - but it wont allow me to download attachments, only view them as a web doc - no editing or saving etc.
Our IT boys reckon that if I select "Private" computer instead of "Public" then it will work - however, this notion of a network setup option relates to Windows - I don't recall it on the Mac - any suggestions welcomed please\
    Many thanks

    Hi,
Glad to know that we have found the solution, thank you for your sharing.
Some additional information about msexchquerybaseDN for your reference:
OWA does not incorporate user permission sets when doing searches. The permissions set on OUs do not prevent search results from including other segregated group's recipients, due to how OWA works. This is where attribute
    msExchQueryBaseDN comes in.
In order for us to control or restrict the search results to include only the members of the appropriate address list in Outlook Web Access, we must set the attribute
msExchQueryBaseDN on each user object to the
distinguishedname (DN) of the OU or an address list containing the correct group of users.

  • Outlook Web Access vs ActiveSync

    Hi all,
Apologies if this question was already asked, but I can't seem to find it if so.
I work at a largish company who use Outlook Exchange for our corporate mail. One of the main reasons I got my iPhone 3G is so I read my work mail wherever I am without having to ask for a company Blackberry.
However I may have made a mistake as I didn't realise how worried about security the firm is. I cannot set up ActiveSync for the life of me - it just says wrong password even when it is correct - and this may be because:
    1) The firm does not allow IMAP or POP access to Exchange
    2) I do not think they have ActiveSync activated on teh server and I cannot change this
However, we do have Outlook Web Access (OWA) which I can access through a normal browser. In fact I can get this working on Safari but I have to enter the username/domain and password every single time which is unworkable. Therefore my question is:
    - Can I access work email through iPhone native email client, perhaps by utilising the Outlook Web Access (or finding a way to still use ActiveSync)?
Thanks a lot for any help, I'm tearing my hair out here (in a newbie style of way)!!

Unfortunately not, OWA using some fancy coding that means it will never store your password in your broswer. You have to type it in every time.
Your only choice is to yell and scream at your IT department until they enable ActiveSync.
Please note some key words that may help you achieve this goal:
*Remote Wipe* - This allows, in the event of the phone been stolen, for the phone to be wiped remotely.
*Limited Exposure via Limited Backdated Emails* - This means that if for any reason the person who stole your phone is smart enough to disable all internet access (WiFi, 3G, EDGE, GPRS) BEFORE turning (or the wipe command is issued) on the headset there will be a limited amount of mail in the box... the options are 1 day, 3 days, 1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month (default), no limit.
And finally, *Increased Productivety* - You will be able to increase the produtivity of your working by getting mail on your phone.

  • Outlook Web Access (OWA) - Sidebar has vanished.

I am having trouble with my Outlook Web Access (OWA) which I use to access my work email from home. Unfortunately, I am not able to access the same functions like flagging emails ect. More importantly, I can't seem to get the sidebar to show. This is the sidebar that I use to move between folders ect. I am only able to see the list of emails. Anyone have any ideas on what I need to do to fix this? I can't even find the Logout button. Thanks so much for your help!

    Hi,
maybe you can do a little trick on the HTML page:
    1. Display it as an URL iView
    2. Instead of deleting the button in the HTML, take a look at the HTML code, the CSS is .nbButton. Maybe you can change this for the logoff Button (eg: to .logoffButton, with the same properties as .nbButton)
    3. In the portal, overwrite the logoffButton CSS so, that visibility = false. Because the portal CSS will only be used in the portal, you can maintain just 1 version of the OWA HTML file and still have the ability to "hide" the logoff Button.

    Tobias
