Outlook365 draining battery on Macbook Air

Since upgrading to Yosemite and installing Outlook365, the battery is draining on my MBA.  The fan is on and the machine is running hot. The problem seems to be Oulook365 that's using a really high level of CPU.  If I switch on "Work Offline" or exit Outlook the problem goes away.
Has anyone seen this and have any suggestions on how to rectify?
Here's the output from Etrecheck:

Hi there. I also have a few questions on this point, please.
You say "delete the ones you think you don't need" but what do I need and what do I not need, please?! I have a new (July 2012) MacBook Air 13" and I have also been concerned about the battery running down quickly - in a couple of hours when watching films. Reading a couple of threads I have identified Safari Silverlight as still running after I have quit Safari but I have also been trying to work out what the other processes are that are in the Activity Monitor list and which ones I need, which I don't! Most of them are at 0.0% of CPU and the highest is only Safari at 12%, but there are 68 processes in there!
Also, I have looked at the Apple Support page given above about battery life and mine is already on its 11th cycle, full charge capacity 6524. I have read elsewhere that I should use my Air plugged in when near a power source - is this the best thing to do to conserve battery life? I currently use it mostly around the house, near power sources, and it is intended also to replace the PC desktop when that dies, but I bought an Air to be portable too.
I have the Default Settings for display, sleep etc.
All suggestions and advice are extremely welcome - many thanks!

  • Best way to charge battery of macbook air

i have a macbook air 13 inch 256 GB SSD. it is early 2014 version . i bought it in dec 18 2014. i have had 11 charge cycles up until now. the issue is that my battery full charge capacity has dropped from 7280 mah (100%) to 6818 may (95%) in a span of just 9 days . i fail to understand how it can be normal? my battery usage is normal . i charge my battery and take precautions as not to overcharge it . so once my battery is 100 % charged then i disconnect the cable and let the MAC run on battery. i do so because i have heard from many people not to keep the machine always plugged on charge. i want to know whether the % drop in my battery flu capacity happened because of my faulty charging practice? . please some expert tell me as what is the correct way to charge and use the MAC battery as i want to use it in a proper way . there is no constraint in my case as i normally use my MAC at a place where i keep it plugged all the time.
    thanks

    Hello!
This sharp drop in F.C.C. isn't normal no matter how you use your battery. The degradation of the F.C.C. should occur slowly over the span of months, not days.
Please reset the SMC to make sure that it's not an reporting error of the hardware: Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) - Apple Support
If the degration keeps happening this fast, take it to an Apple Store.

Take the computer to the Apple store to have the battery checked and replaced if necessary.
    http://www.apple.com/support/macbookair/service/battery/
Before that, do a SMC reset and test.

      Choose the method for:

Other thing my LCD COLOR is like yellow ... but i put it in RGB GENERIC and it look cool .... gray and whit the blacks more deffinided .. that is normal ?
    Thanks a lot !!!!

    sberman Southern California
Pricing starts at US$999 at the Apple Store:
Current retail cost is $950 on same.
And if shes a student, she gets a big discount, POSSIBLY making the cost difference  0 $
That choice is a subjective one. However since the 11" base AIR is only $950, youre talking $110
For a $110 difference, the answer is absolutely unquestionably YES.
For $110 youre getting an awfully lot more,...... faster,... MUCH longer batt. life,... 802ac wifi,.. cooler running.
$110 cant buy that kind of "upgrade" anywhere, making the cost difference absolutely worth it.
    Again, your choice.

  • Putting a new battery into MacBook Air 1,1

Hello. I have a question regarding my MacBook Air's battery. I'm currently deciding to switch the battery for the new one because it has been 4 years and the battery can only last 1 hour 10 mins the most when fully charged. My question is if I pay $139 for the new battery, is this new battery the one for MacBook Air 4,1 (lasts 7 hours) or the one for the original MacBook Air 1,1 (lasts 5 hours). Thank you for reading.
    Kevin

    Kevin,
You'd get the same model battery that came with your first generation MacBook Air, the one rated for 5 hours. Now another scenario to consider would be a DIY solution via iFixIt.com
    http://www.ifixit.com/MacBook-Parts/MacBook-Air-Original-Late-2008-Battery/IF188 -004#.T8MjSY4_594
    http://www.ifixit.com/MacBook-Parts/MacBook-Air-Mid-2009-Battery/IF188-044#.T8Mj Qo4_594
They're the same price ($109.95) and the Mid-2009 battery says it'll work in the original Air and has a higher mAh rating (which means it'll last longer).

  • Decreasing battery capacity macbook air moutain lion to maverick

Does somebody have informations about the decreasing capacity of the macbook air battery when you pass from mountain lion to maverick.
I read a lot of things on different forums but nothing on the apple web site.
Many people had the capacity divided by 2.

    Some are discussing it here
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5478677?start=0&tstart=0
    17 pages long.
But with Mountain Lion, some are discussing it here
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4135250
    227 pages long
I saw no drop in battery life with either, personally.
    Cheers

  • How much does it cost to replace battery in macbook air

I have an original mac book air that will no longer hold a charge for the battery.  I was wondering what the best way would be to have the battery replaced?

You can check at your local Apple Retail Store or you can check other world computing.

There Batteries at Other World Computing start at $49.00

  • Can you buy a battery for macbook air

Can you buy a battery for a macbook air

MBAs do not have user replaceable batteries. I'm not sure you could even buy third-party replacement batteries. You may be able to purchase an Apple part through places like ifixit.com.

  • Battery on MacBook Air discharges after recent update

Just has started happening the last two days. My 2012 Air will be fully charged, and maybe 12 hours later (being closed and not connected to power the whole time) it will be dead. Anyone else having the problem? Any suggestions how to fix or is it a bug? Battery monitor in "about this mac" shows good conditinon, just over 200 cycles.

The common recommendation for power problems is to perform an SMC reset.
Read and follow all the steps, even those that do not seem applicable. Determine what effect, if any, this has on the discharge problem.
    Before Resetting the SMC
Try each of the following steps in this order before you reset the SMC. Test the issue after completing each troubleshooting step to determine if the issue still occurs.
Press Command + Option + Escape to force quit any application that is not responding.
Put your Mac to sleep by choosing the Apple () menu from the upper-left menu bar and then choosing Sleep. Wake the computer after it has gone to sleep.
Restart your Mac by choosing the Apple () menu from the upper-left menu bar and then choosing Restart.
Shut down your Mac by choosing the Apple () menu from the upper-left menu bar and then choosing Shut Down.
Resetting the SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own
    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if it's not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.

Which one? There are three - 2010, 2011, 2012. They may differ some. Would say 5 hours or so in use. Up to 30 days in standby mode according to Apple.

  • If I have a MacBook Pro and an iPad what use would a MacBook Air serve me?

Why would I want a MacBook Air if I have iPad and MacBook Pro?

macbook Air has the weight of an Ipad (nearly) and has only 1 moving part, no HD to crash
Macbook Air is the ONLY mac with Haswell ,  802ac wifi,  and incredible 12hr battery life
Macbook Air has ultrafast 8 second boot from SSD
An Ipad, though I have 2 of them and love them, are just a technical TOY, not a working device, not a productivity tool.  You cant compare an Ipad to a Macbook Air.
Ive got a Pro and an Air.    Air has many advantages over that of a Pro.
However if you have an Ipad AND a Pro, then youve got enough to do anything you want between the two.
